Noise canceling headphones show up as mic? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I plug in the notice canceling headphones that came with my z2 it shows up as a mic and I cannot hear any audio through the headphones.
Is this just me?

it seems to only do this when using skype for me
other than that it seems to work 99% fine

Did you put your phone into water? Maybe there is still water inside preventing a 100% clear connection
Mine are working fine too

No water damage. I started getting this issue after upgrading to extenz 4.5 but I've tried downgrading but issue still persistents.
Funny this is if I insert the headphones then restart the phone then they work fine.

I had this same behavior. One of your 5 minijack pins in the phone might got damaged.
Try wiping data for SmartConnect just to be sure it's not a software issue.

hmm that sounds awkward
What Rom are you using now? which version?

Existenz 4.5 and custom kernel

I solved the issue.
It was a kernel problem.
AndroKernelPlus was causing the problem. I had to flash a stock kernel for my headphones to work again

Hi,
I have the same problem here. The earphone used to work as a charm but one day just stopped working and the mic signal is on when I plug the earphone in. I have already tried wiping Smart Connect and Restoring the phone to Factory Conditions through Sony Companion.
Really didn't want to contact Sony over this... Any ideas??
Cheers!

There had been reports that sometimes the phone thinks that a headset is plugged-in resulting in no sounds to be heard from the speaker of the phone.
What should I do in such case ????

Very interesting... But it would make every case useless.

It's no bigger than the cutouts for the headphones on most cases so this should be fine to use on a phone with a case. It is in fact the same size as most headphone connectors so if a headphone fits so will this. Just an excuse to spend 24p really lol that's why I bought one, no reason to.. No reason not to. Although I do think being able to activate the flash with one click even with the phone in standby is pretty useful for me personally.

Yes it it works with BlueTooth. That's the only problem with this.. If you want to use wired headsets you need to take this out.

Cool.. I'll keep it handy, pretty useful as it can be used to open 3 shortcuts.. So I'll use it to open the flashlight and messaging app and media.

Any effect on battery life?
My G3 (D855) seems to be having issue detecting anything that I plug in the headphone jack other than the stock headphones that came with it. I tried plugging in the pressy button and a portable speaker on separate occasions but they were only detected momentarily. The button works fine on my old phone which is a galaxy note n7000 so I'm pretty sure it isn't spoilt.
Anyone has any clue about this issue? Otherwise I'll probably send my G3 for repair since it's still obviously still under warranty.
I am having issue with Pressy on g3 and my other phone so it's not the phone it's Pressy.

Sounds like a software problem with compatibility? I don't see why some work and some don't.. Hopefully gets fixed with an update.

Bad mic?

Hey guys
I've had my Z2 for three months, and sometimes when I call people they almost can't hear me. The reception is great and it's only an issue with this phone.
Have anyone else had this problem?

check if it get wet somehow!
+ test if with voice record (or the built-in test app Xperia Diagnostic; Setting > About > Diagnostic)
if thr s problem first try to repair firmware to be sure it s not software
if problem remains take it to service for replacement because of faulty hardware

Headphone mic problem

I can hear fine when my headphones are connected but the other person can't hear me. The same headphones works just fine on a different phone. I don't think there is a setting to check this. They were working fine recently. These are the stock that came with the phone. Anyone have am idea what's going on?

You might check to see if a piece of lint or something is in the headphone jack.
Thanks but I don't think that's the problem. I use a different one and it works fine.
