[Q] MHL Adapter not working and no sim card... CONNECTION? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hello so I have an MHL adapter
This One:
http://www.wowparts.com/mhl-to-hdmi...laxy-tab-3-8-0-10-1-s4-i9500-s3-i9300-note-2/
and i have been using it and it works fine with 2 both activated note 3s in my househould.
Thou I recently acquired another note 3 for testing purposes. And the adapter does not work with this phone. All three phones are on the same rom(stock rooted NK4, Busybox installed)
The only difference between the phones, is that the test phone I have does not have a sim card, nor is it activated. Could this be the reason?
Other than that I have no clue why i cant get it to work. When I plug it in the screen turns on and vibrates, but it never says "Mhl connected" nor displays on the screen like the other two phones do just fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Try re-flashing the Rom on the 3rd Note you had just acquired.
If it works then great, if not I would personally myself flash CM12, then try again.
If it doesn't work with either or I would say it is safe to say that their is a hardware issue, SIM wouldn't have anything to do with the MHL adapter working correctly as those are two totally different pieces of the machine, correct me if i am wrong.

[Q] Cannot get my phone to charge\recognized on PC

Installed ICS 4.0.3 on my sgh-i717, a few days later it stopped charging and was unable to be recognized on any PC. I connected it to Kies via wifi, put the stock att rom back on it, reflashed though CWM, flashed counter and still nothing, set it back to samsung, got a new phone.
THen yesterday (2 days after i got my new phone) I flashed the new OnlyOne ICS rom 4.0.4 on my phone, then not even 3 hours later, my USB wasnt working again.......charges when it wants, but CANNOT be recognized by and PC....wtf?
Any ideas please!!! ?? THank you!
USB Ports
Just out of curiosity, have you tried a different usb port? Sometimes (and I think it's windows fault) I can use something on a certain port for months, then it will stop working, changing ports fixes it, then when / if that port stops working i'll switch back to the first port I started with... rinse / repeat.
Remember the old Nintendo Carts, when they would get dusty, they wouldnt work until you cleaned them? Could be the same thing, issue with the port, dust, or just going bad.
It could either be a driver issue / and or the actual port. Esp if it's an older usb 1.1 spec port.
I am running OnlyOne, and it's running fine here as far as computer seeing it / charging. I don't think you would get 2 phones that are defective back to back, Check your computer first, especially if it consistently will charge with the AC adapter and not the computer.

Ouch..... Sorry Bud........
I hope you still have insurance on your phone and I would put it back to stock and see if that works out for you buddy.
If you have access to another phone , try to download seraphim a great from and put it on there and flash it. Inside of the newest seraphim there is a USB storage mount option which should fix your problem. I hope this will fix the problem

Doesn't sound like a ROM issue or one that requires a different ROM to be installed just because it contains a USB selection. To me it sounds like you have a bad cable or a few bad cables. I would try a new micro usb cable. I have had that issue happen a few times with quite a few phones. Cables that just don't click when inserted don't always make the proper contacts. And owning another cable can't hurt, just make sure it is a good brand.

I tried reverting back to a Gingergbread rom, tried re flashing a few different roms, no luck. Tried a few different usb plugs from different phones... how can you mess up a micro USB just from flashing... makes no sense.
Idk about the charging part, but i had the same issue with pc not recognizing my phone after i flashed new ROM on it and could not share files and what not i found a solution for that try this. Make sure phone is unpluggdd from pc. Go to settings>Wireless and network>USB utilities> connect storage to pc then it will tell u to plug your phone, do so. And phone should prompt you with the normal USB storage click it and your good to go.

[Q] Micro USB not working

My micro usb port is not working. It will for short periods of time, but I can't even get a decent charge on the phone. I took it to Verizon and I am getting a replacement (which is nice) but here is my problem, the phone is unlocked and rooted (not ROMed) So how can I get it back to stock if I can't trust the connection with the computer to hold up during the processes.
Is is just going to be best to wipe it and cross my fingers that they don't notice when they fix the hardware?
Thoughts, suggestions and whatever else you might have is appreciated
Steve
Check out mobile Odin. I'm not sure if it supports the note 2 yet, but worked beautifully on my s3

Good idea, but just looked and don't see the verizon note 2 listed
Steve
Update
I got the new phone today and was able to connect the old one long enough to return to stock. It took awhile to get it to connect but once i did it stayed long enough to use odin and flash the stock file.
I'm a little ticked at Verizon for sending me a refurbished Note 2 when this is the second exchange in a month. I should not get used for their bad hardware. But what can you do, they control it all.

[Q] [SOLVED] Speaker dead, USB not recognizing, SD too, etc.

Hello guys!
For about 2 or 3 weeks now I have the problem that the speaker on my TF201 does not work anymore. Headphones are working fine.
It also does not recognize any USB Sticks anymore. The Dock is not dead, it works fine and also has current on the USB Port (the USB stick LED is activated but does not blink for accessing it). Also the SD Card slot does not work anymore. The MicroSD slot on the tablet itself works fine...
And the next thing: My PC does not recognize the tablet anymore when I connect it. It does load when I connect it to the adapter but I can't transfer files anymore via PC. Cable is not broken but to minimize this risk I already offered a new one just in case.
Do you guys have any idea what this maybe is caused from? Maybe broken hardware? Or maybe a not properly connected cable in the tablet? But if so why is USB and stuff not working?
Please help me, I don't wanna lose such an awesome tablet
And I may can't even RMA it cause I've unlocked and flashed a new ROM on it...
EDIT 12.06.2013: When the tablet is fully turned off and USB is plugged in (PC, not charger) it suddenly powers up. I still can't use USB ports...

Do you have one of the Prime to USb connectors? I wonder if the issue is in the dock or the tablet connector.

Sadly no. I never ever would have used that cause I have the dock. And Dock can't be broken, the problem appeared since the speaker is not working too.
I tested MicroHDMI output now. Works fine, audio is there too. Hm... Strange...
Hidden "Camera Version" function?
Sorry, wrong thread ^-^" Please delete this entry!
My first guess is that something may have gotten disconnected inside the Prime. It's unlikely, but worth a check. Have you ever opened your prime?
When you have a dock, you have two options of connecting it to your PC. You can put the Prime into the dock then connect the two to your PC or you can just set the dock aside and connect the Prime directly. Have you tried both ways?

Jup I tried both ways.
And no I never opened it up. May I should look for a tutorial. Does iFixIt have an tutorial for it?
I don't think that iFixIt has one. At least they didn't about 6 months ago when I needed to replace my glass. There should be links to tutorials buried in these forums. Also, a little Googling should find you something too.
Regarding the HDMI audio working: Not too much of a surprise. Remember that the micro-hdmi port is sending a data stream with the audio embedded/encoded as 1s and 0s. It seems like something may have (hopefully) come disconnected related to the built-in speaker.

I opened it up but I saw no unconnected or partly connected cable. I only lifted up the touchscreen, about the other parts I was too afraid to ruin something... Didn't unscrew so I wasn't able to see the under connectors.
Anyway, I don't think it's an unconnected cable. But if it's a software fault why are suddenly without flashing anything like Kernel or Bootloader so many things not working? That's just... What the hell o-O
Also I don't want to RMA it again. It's flashed and unlocked so I may have to pay 100€ for it... I could easily spend that money on a Galaxy Tab or something. But would still be awesome to have that one as "backup tablet" then just in case so I don't want to just throw it away.
Good on ya for taking a look. If you disconnect the robbon cables that connect the digitizer and LCD to the mainboard, you can set the top part (the screen and glass) aside and take a much better look. I completly understand your reluctance for fear of damaging. I felt the same way when I took mine apart the first time to replace the digitizer glass.
In devices like this, the headphones and the built-in speaker have separate amplifiers. They're not like very old transistor radios where the headphone jack is connected to the speaker wires with an interlock. I found this out when my Viewsonic 4.5" video player had digitally garbled sound in the headphones but not in the built-in speakers. Weirdest thing that I wouldn't expect being old-school...
The upshot is that you simply may have failed components, which is a real bummer since these are (imho) still pretty sweeet tablets.
You *could* always contact ASUS support and describe the problem and see if they can share any familiarity or knowledge with you. Sadly, I've found ASUS support to be bag-of-hammers dumb and patently useless, despite having a decent product.

Opened up again, tried to push a few connectors in a bit but nothing... Looks like I really have a hardware failure...
But what now? When I send it to ASUS (or the shop where I bought it) they might say "Nope, you opened that thing". Also flashing back Stock ROM is... Yeah... Many work... I already was on the 4.1.2 Bootloader, upgraded to 4.2.1 now. I don't know how seriously they take that whole hacking/flashing thing, maybe they even repair a flashed tablet.
I dont know if it helps anyone further pin-point the problem because i havent been able to but i have the same issues and for me the sound comes back once i have the screen separated from the tablet. i can restart the tablet many times and audio still works as long as the screen is not fully in its place. If i clip the screen back in its place audio still works until i turn off or restart the tablet.

Hello i've got the same problem and i'm praying someone can help.
Since updating from Androwook Hairy Bean V2.11 to V2.2 RC1;
there is no sound from the external speaker; playing media, notifications, alarms etc
dock doesnt recognise usb stick
pc doesnt recognize the tablet
on V2.2 RC1 i got the update pad firmware message and i accepted it, not sure if this is the cause because others have done the sam and reported everything working fine.
Also starting getting a notification on startup "unable to detect driver for loudspeaker" on V2.2 RC1. So i downgraded to Hairy Bean V2.11 thinking it would solve the issue but it hasn't, nothings changed.
I've tried a factory reset, cold boot, downloaded dsp manager and not been successful.
Has anyone come across this problem and found a solution?
Please help me
Thanks

That is very strange mate.
The firmware update was just for the pad and if it had already installed on 2.11 and was working fine then that was done. The only person who ever had a problem with it happened as he was installing it and we fixed that.
Upgrading to 2.2 changed nothing from 2.11 except a slightly newer base and some newer kernels. Even if the kernels were not supporting your hardware when you downgraded back to 2.11 you would have been back on the old kernels and back to how you had it working before.
This does confuse me.. As a test because I cannot think of anything else except hardware failure at the moment can you try getting the downgrade zip from the hairybean thread that takes you back to 4.1.1 bootloader and compatible twrp and then try flashing hairybean 1.51 instead.
Read the instructions thoroughly under the downgrading section.

Thanks for the assistance Flumpster and I've been following your thread, you've done some damn amazing work!
Just for the record 2.11 + that kernel had my prime running the best it ever has! after doing all the wipes, formats I flashed v2.2 and got the update pad firmware then and missing speaker driver notification? I dismantled my prime and checked for a loose connection on the speaker but it looks ok.
I'll try the downgrade tomorrow (going to bed now) and if that doesn't work, i still have audio through the headphone jack.
Thanks again

Ok mate.. Well try the downgrade option first and if that doesn't work then first of all I want you to drain your battery completely and leave for an hour. After that charge it up a little and try ( I know this sounds crazy and I thought the same when I first read it in another thread but it fixed our one guy who had problems with the firmware upgrade )
If this still does not work then upgrade back to 2.2 and once you are in the OS I will try to talk you into downgrading that firmware update to see if that helps.
If that still doesn't work after downgrading the firmware update then it is hardware sorry.

ok micro sd card was coming up write protected, so formated and downloaded new files and managed to downgrade to 4.1.1 bootloader and v1.51 - still no sound from external speaker, also sd slot and usb still not working on dock. Tried running the battery flat and leaving it for over an hour then charged a little and powered on still no change.
I'm leaving work now and have limited internet access tonight so i download the v2.2 zip tomorrow and see if that works, otherwise could be hardware hey.

CM 10.1 USB problems

I'm on unofficial CM 10.1 build 2013.04.20 and i'm having some odd issues with USB connection, my phone started connecting and disconnecting rapidly, i've checked storage>menu>connect as MTP, if i enter this screen it works perfectly fine, but as soon as the screen locks, connection starts going off and on again, it's really odd since it was working perfectly for the last 2 months, and no it's not a problem with my USB cable since my other Galaxy phone works perfectly and doesn't lose connection ever.
I've also tried a fresh clean install and problem persists, any idea on what could be the problem besides the USB cable since as i stated before, cable is working perfectly with another phone.
Also, if i turn the phone off and plugg it to my computer, i can see the orange led constantly lit, which means it is actually charging.

Is anyone experiencing External SD mounting as USB Storage? I am and I'm not sure if it's because I am on the old OFFICIAL CM 10.1.
It is really annoying when I can't access my External SD card when I am on my laptop. I have to get a SD Reader/Adapter. Has this been fixed and I'm just being an idiot and not seeing anything about it?

[HELP] I9100 soft bricked

Hello everyone, I recently got my hands on an old SGS2 I9100. When I got it I simply used Framaroot to root it because it wouldn't show up on any pc. It was on 4.1.2 if I remember correctly and I googled around a bit and nothing seemed to work so I thought why not. Everything was working fine, I flashed cwm through mobile odin too no problem. After a while I installed resurrection remix, it booted and worked just fine. Now here's the **** up.. My friend told me that I should try to flash twrp and see if my pc could recognize it through recovery and since twrp do not have an official i9100 version I got a unofficial one from god knows where. So I flashed it and now I'm stuck at samsung logo and can't access recovery mode. I can access bootloader though but no pc seems to be able to recognize it.
Worst case scenario, the port is broken. It barely charged because the port is worn out and I've tried cleaning it. I've also tried multiple cables and only one seems to work to get it to charge and I've tried connecting it to multiple pcs.
Any suggestions? The port should not be broken when I got it to charge right?
There are 4 connectors plus the shielding in that port......They control a number of different functions through different combinations of connection......just because 1 function/connection combination (charging) works, it is not an indication that *every* function/connection will work.
These ports DO wear out, and when they do, they show different symptoms.
The port is recognised as being a major weak point of any device using that type of connector.
I wrote a guide here on the S2 forum that shows/explains exactly how to replace that port.......
