Is Ubuntu Touch alive ? - Ubuntu Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I'm a proud owner of a LG G3 and I would like to port a new ROM to the device.
As I was searching for porting guides and additionnal information about Ubuntu Touch, something bothered me : most of the threads, posts and discussions about it are from 2013. The Ubuntu Website itself isn't very clear on how the project is growing or what is the project itself. So I was wondering : is Ubuntu Touch alive ? Is there people interested in Ubuntu Touch ports ?
Thanks and have a nice day.

Yes, it is. Try OMG! Ubuntu for news. There are at least 2 phones that are supposed to be released this year. Also, I installed it last night (the devel branch) and got a few updates today.

If you're interested in porting, stay tuned as they announced that they will release a new porting guide in February.

[Q] How to port Ubuntu Touch to android devices?

I was thinking in try to port Ubuntu Touch to my Android Device (Razr D3).
I've saw Ubuntu running on some devices, but only devices that developers give attention (Nexus series per example). I've saw once Ubuntu Touch running in a Xperia Mini Pro, but did not understand how that guy ported the SO to the Xperia series.
Well, my doubt is: Where do I start this job? Where do I get the files to try something? How do I create compatibility for my device?
I really don't understand anything about this, I want to learn. And, if success, try to port Ubuntu to all Razr series.

(apologies for crap urls, still a new member here........)
Best place atm is wiki dot ubuntu.com/Touch/PortingFlippedInProgress but it's still kind of a mess given the ubuntu team hasn't given it many updates recently to reflect the flipped images. Unless you're well experienced in messing android with both android and ubuntu I'd give a miss until someone rewrites it.
I've been trying to get my tf201 working for months now to no avail but good luck to you!
p.s. the irc log from a porting day has good info as well irclogs dot ubuntu.com/2013/08/01/%23ubuntu-touch.html

Thanks, but, the links do not work. Can you post a functional link?
Also, I have been searching for something in official Ubuntu page, but a didn't find anything! Dude, is there another forum or ftp severs that stores at least generical images to download? The official comunity seems to do not give a minimal help or importance to work to do ports made by amateurs developers, I cannot understand how Ubuntu Phone be open source if any source is available.

Plain and Simple Question: Is Wireless Display or Miracast supported for I9100?

Hi,
I have a Plain and Simple Question: Is Wireless Display or Miracast supported for for I9100?
All other questions in this regard end up in philosophical discussion where some "believe" that it is supported and others do not.
I just went through flashing hell, but couldn't find a rom that has a wireless display option for this device.
It would be good if someone who knows what he is talking about can say a definite "YES" or "NO".
Thanks!
I have found that Galaxy Nexus had just begun using this feature along with screen recording on AOSP 4.4_r1 maguro meets KitKat & Miracast [24/11/13]
I think it will work on i9100 ,do the fact that Galaxy Nexus has the same hardware as the GS2.
Take a look here:

Now the only thing to do is wait for some developer to implement this patch in a custom ROM.
I don't have more then 10 posts , so I can not post in developer threds, but if you don't mind you can ask Infectd_ if he can bring this option on his ROM, he seems to work hardly than anybody alse on Cyanogenmod 11.
Here is one of his threds:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535369
You can specify in your post that the question is for him, and please show him the thred from the Galaxy Nexus patch, it has the code in there so he can use it/modify it.
Thank you.
Not currently, no.

Best rom for lge970 at&t

I tried lot of roms on my optimus g like slimkat, twistedkat, cm11 m6, beenstalk, mokee but every one have issue with them like occasionally reboots heating issue etc etc.
I know there are lot of roms what i didn't try yet, but can anyone tell me which one is best from them. I need a active display, a button for clear recent apps, theme chooser in it and obviously a kitkat. Can anyone help me, which one hav no bugs or issue and zero reboots, please suggest me a rom for my lg e970.thanks
Ok for me the most stable and best rom I've used is mahdi rom + glitchMOD kernel + 84/27 hybrid radio from the hybrid radio thread. I didn't even try any other Tom before that but for me it works as well as the stock lg Rom for me the only thing is I'm not sure if it has active display since I wouldn't want to use that but I can tell you that it had the rest of the features that you wanted and I haven't had any random reboots or bugs as well

LineageOS 15 - any update?

Hey guys,
I'm bit curious, is there any update on the progress of LOS15 for our device? I've broken the screen and now I'm considering moving forward with a new device if there is no upcoming upgrade to Oreo.
I've checked Gerrit and there are no commits for kiwi under 15.0 branch.
As developer friendly as this phone is, it's being left alone. I have no doubt that it can run Oreo, but ROM makers have left it in the cold, for "newer" devices. I wish I had the ability to make a working ROM for it( instead of a "software" imitation on my pc).

How do you know? A while back there was a LOS15 rom compiled for kiwi. It didn't boot. But it shows someone was trying.
This means that kiwi will not be LOS15?
I'm not asking for ETA, I know it's hard to give an estimate since it's not full-time job, or job at all. But I'd just like the info if the device is abandoned or not.
KIWI is in LOS official device list. I think they promised oreo update to every official device in their list. Hopefully expect for O.
Meanwhile I found nothing exciting about Oreo and with Nougat everything works well enough for me.

Request for mi 8se dual speaker mod

Dear Developers,
I'm now using evolution x android pie rom for my mi se and I would be grateful if you creat a dual speaker mod for mi 8se.Thanks.
Is it difficult to creat? Almost all devices can get, why mi 8 se user can't get?
Dead forum
I'm currently working on it
Development may be slow because it's actually my daily driver and I only have a few hours a week to test things out
My current troubles are the way that the audio mixers work in MIUI 11 Beta, and I will not be testing it out on any custom roms, but be expecting an update from me once a few more Android 9 Pie mods come out and I have some base scratch to work with
EDIT: I will also look into the Type-C port audio, as I'm extremely disappointed with the clarity and lack of volume
There is du al speaker module for Mi 8 SE but its for old roms. I know and used it on China Beta miui_CEPHEUSGlobal_9.4.2_19357b30e9_9.0
Someone may adapt it for miui 11. I attached the file for anyone interested :good:

Sorry for the delay, but I got a Mi Note 10 Pro recently, so I can now test and continue development without worrying
The possible mod I'll be releasing will be a flashable zip, although the one mentioned above looks quite promising!! I'll look into it

Hmmm... It seems to be using the old mixer files from Android Oreo, I'll have to compare it to the new ones and figure out what's changed, but I might just skip Pie and build it for the Android Q Beta :>

Bad news unfortunately, I tried multiple times with the stable Xiaomi.eu Android Q when it just came out. No luck... I've sold the phone since, even managed to mess up the Mi Note 10 and had to get a Nokia 9 Pureview. I'm really going down hill with these projects

No unfortunately, see above. But try directly contacting other developers to see if they're willing to try. Those who've worked on other recent snapdragon xiaomi phones are going to be your best bet. I was basically trying to go off some tutorials, had a Mi5 for reference, very little progress
