[Q] Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Failed to load ROM - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have a Huawei S10-201u MediaPad 10 Link (S10-201u) and it is giving me grey hairs.
It had, what I assume to be, a custom ROM installed on it and we had no real access to the things settings. I decided to wipe and install the stock ROM.
PC OS: W7 SP1 x64
I went to Huawei website and downloaded the S10-201u Firmware (S10-201u, Android 4.1, C232B002, English)
Took forever but I eventually got an 2GB SD card, formatted it clean in FAT32, created a dload folder and dumped the two files (update.app and unlmt.cfg) into the folder and then switched off the tablet.
Inserted SD card, held down VOL-DOWN and pressed the power button until the logo appeared. Kept the VOL-DOWN button pressed until I saw the little green Android robot with the wireframe thing spinning in his chest.
It did its thing for about 5 minutes, bar moved some then filled a little more... and then it simply said "FAIL" in red and in yellow text it says "sdcard upgrade failed. reboot device"
And now it is stuck. I can't boot it normally (just keeps going back to the little green Android and saying failed), I can't turn it off (Can reboot it, just not switch it off) and I have tried 5 or 6 different ROMs on the SD to try get something to happen. No luck,
I am able to reboot the phone to a point where it says "Enter into fastboot mode" if I use VOL-UP and POWER.
Windows detects it in this format as an "Android Phone/Android Single ADB Interface" device however running "fastboot devices" or "adb devices" yields no devices in the list.
Any ideas and suggestions on where to go next?

Bump

I have same problem...
Is there anything what i can do To my tablet

Use a higher capacity SD Card...
Use a Higher Capacity SD Card and download the Stock ROM from

My htc hero is dead

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I made a Radio update to version 63.18.55.06_6.35.07.08. I made it putting the update.zip (radio rom) file in the SD Card.
All worked fine until the htc hero restarted (after appears the box with the orange arrow). Thereafter the Hero only shows the Hero logo when I turn on.
I tried to init the fastboot pressing home+power and home+back+power buttons (without SD Card and without SIM card) but always the result is the same, the logo appears and nothing happens.
The computer doesn't detects the Hero's USB connection and I can't run adb commands because it raises the "device not found" error.
Someone can help me?
Thanks in advance!
Did you let the screen with the box run its course?
Did the recovery console come back up saying formatting cache?
Have you tryed holding just back+power? ive never heard of using back+home+power
And also, i think your supposed to enter recovery with the sd in.
If that works then in that state is should be found by adb.
But yes, as the poster before me said, it should show the "unpacking" image, and then it should reboot. It should then go straight back into the recovery and the recovery will format the cache. If you tryed to turn it off at any point then, then something is badly mucked up. But it isnt bricked, and probably can be saved. Its only bricked when no logos at all come up on boot. If you managed to get it reconised by adb, you could probs format the cache manualy, though i dont know the command
All the previous steps after the breack are as you say, but after the "unpacking" image, the htc hero restarted and showed the hero logo instead the correct menu.
The problem with the adb is that the computer doesn't recognize the htc hero across usb. When I write the adb command ("adb devices") doesn't displays any device, and I can't run any adb shell for the same reason. How can I run any adb command if the device isn't recognized by the computer?
Have you tryed just taking the battery out, waiting 30 seconds, putting it back in, then booting the phone holding back+power?
And adb is very strange i find... Sometimes it reconises a phone, sometimes it doesnt, for no apparent reason. Have you tryed leaving it on the hero logo for a while then running adb commands?
If he has flashed, wouldnt the USB Debugging setting be reset also, wouldnt this be why he cannot access via adb.
Hi.
I habe exactly the same problem. I have updated radion.
Now ther come only the T-Mobile Logo and that's all.
I can not enter neither Recovery Mode nor fasbtoot does do something.
Any suggestions?
Lado
this problem shud be fixed asap because i think its a threat for all hero modders and owners as our phones get killed at anytime with this process. so guys lets try to find a solution for this problem. cheers
Updated Radio to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 and it killed my hero.
first the box with the orange arrow came up and then the whole phone died... now it wont even turn on the screen.
please fix?????????????????
I had the box with the orange arrow yesterday after flashing radio.
The phone isn't dead, I think it's just working.
I kinda paniced also when it happend but I got into recovery eventually.
When you flash a radio it does not actually install that image until your first boot (when you see that phone out the box image).
At this point DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THE PHONE just wait and it will install the image and reboot for you. IT CAN TAKE UP TO 10 MINUTES.
If you turn it off or otherwise interrupt this process it can really mess up your phone. however the general rule is so long as you can see the HTC logo when you turn on i.e. it still turns on you can in theory always recover, its just a matter of finding the way that works.

[Q] Bricked G-Tab?

Could I have bricked my tablet? Or could there be a way to recover?
As for what it's current state is; (I am sure is is stuck in the reboot loop) When powering on the tablet, it displays "Android", goes dark, and repeats. Though this is a change from when I was trying to fix it on my own. Before it looping, it would show the "Android" screen and just sit there.
No comes what I think the REAL issue is... Running 'ClockworkMod v2.5.1.1-bekit-0.8', I am unable to mount an external SDcard or mount the USB Storage(text in menu implies to me it is the USB cable to computer).
So other than the images already on the tablet, I seem to be unable to get a new image into it. And of course the images on it don't do any good.

Most definitely not bricked. I've recovered from a much worse situation (bootloader wouldn't even budge - couldn't boot into recovery or regular at all).
Since you are able to boot into recovery, there's probably a way to get things working without resorting to nvflash (we'll get to that in a second - nvflash is the failsafe mechanism, and you should be able to re-nvflash your tablet back to its original state if all else fails).
Here's roughly what I'd try in order:
Option 1) Figure out why you are unable to mount as USB in recovery. I've actually never heard of this problem. Are you using the right cable - i.e. a working USB-to-mini-USB cable (I don't think this works at all with the full sized USB port under the latch cover). Have you tried it with another computer - perhaps there's a driver issue on your PC?
Option 2) If for some reason you really aren't able to get USB mounting working in recovery (I'm skeptical - again, I've never heard of that problem - unless you really did flash a bum recovery image or something - but seems unlikely), then I'd see if you can get ADB working properly when you are in recovery mode. Search around and read about setting up ADB if you haven't already - just a matter of getting the right driver installed on your PC and installing the binary stuff (either from the full Android SDK or one of the packages that just has the ADB stuff floating around). Search the forums, you'll find some references to help you get this working and download the right stuff.
If ADB works, you can always use "adb push filetoflash.zip /sdcard/filetoflash.zip" to put a new file on your internal SD card area and flash it.
Option 3) You can always use nvflash. I'm not going to write up a tutorial on it here - search the forums for nvflash, there are several HOWTOs. Look for the stuff Roebeet posted. You'll need to install the APX driver on your PC first before this will work, and Roebeet's posts don't explain how to install it on Windows, so you'll need to search separately for that. I have gotten this to work before, but it's a pain and I only recommend it if your recovery image is truly trashed or your bootloader is malfunctioning as mine was. In other words, don't bother until you've exhausted the first two options.
So in short - you are in a pain-in-the-ass situation, but you have by no means bricked your tablet - it is very, very far from bricked. Give us more info on *exactly* what happens when you try to "mount as USB" while you have your mini USB cable plugged into the G Tablet - do you see a drive appear on your PC? Are you running a Windows box? Mac? Linux? Have you verified that a USB keychain drive works fine with your PC but the G Tablet won't mount? Basically we need some more info to guide you in your search.
Ok finally had some free time from cleaning/packing and house hunting to try fixing the tablet.
Good news is that I was able to mount the USB. I didn't notice the cat nibble on my cable... So once I dug a spare out, I was able to copy a TnT-Lite image (still had on computer) onto it right quick. Restarted and it installed the image.
So now it has TnT-Lite, though it is weirdly stuck on the setup wizard. It tells me to touch the android to continue and shows an animation of a hand touching the android. But when I touch the android, it turns white and thats it. Also I can change the language to UK or American English. Plus when I press the menu button, I can go to wireless settings, as in cell phone wireless settings. Lastly, I can make an emergency call. So new worthless image. YEY!
I next tried to reboot back into ClockworkMod to see what I could possibly do to get by the lack of continuation in the TnT. But the image install did something interesting. When trying to enter Clockwork Mod, here is what it does from powerup: Displays "Detect a recovery key pressed" then on the next line "Booting recovery kernel image", blanks the screen and then displays "Android" for a few seconds, lastly switching to an exclamation mark in a triangle and rebooting.
So how do I go about screwing it up more?

CWM is not installed
flash the latest firmware using stock recovery

It almost sounds like you now have stock recovery in your Gtab.
If that's the case, then maybe copy a stock TNT update.zip onto the external Sdcard, and create recovery/command file on there with the string for SDCARD2, then reboot w power and volume+. If you do have stock recovery, that should flash it back to stick TNT. Try Stock TNT 3452, since that'll also flash a stock recovery for sure.

Looks like Brian and I crossposted each other .
For the recovery/command file on the external SDCARD, put the following text in it:
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
NOTE THE 2 DASHES AT BEGINNING OF THE LINE...

No really, I've Bricked It
So, G Tablet arrived about 5 hours ago. I got it rooted and tried to install CMod 8.1. Things went wrong but I'm not sure what. Anyway, the last thing that I did was to boot in Recovery and then I selected, Format System. Now, when the tablet is turned on, in the top right corner, I have a tiny red message, Magic Value Mismatch. I get this message whether the SD card is installed or not.
I know this information is a little vague but as a Nod, it's all that I have.

I'm freaking out, I think I bricked it...
I'm only getting the black android screen, I can't seem to mount USB, suggestions?
Ive been stuck right where you are a few times, not to big of a deal, just NVFlash back and start over. I am assuming you are getting the black screen you mention is the APX mode one you get by starting your tab by pressing vol down and power at the same time.

[Q] can someone confirm my phone is bricked?

Hello,
I think I bricked my BQ Aquaris 4.5 phone but I'd like a confirmation:
I did a "wipe data/factory reset", and now my phone boots into a picture of an android robot being updated right after the operator logo. The image is animated, but it seems to be in some sort of "reboot" loop because it flashes black periodically (it doesn't completely reboot the phone tho, because I only see the operator logo the first time the phone boots).
Here are screenshots of what I'm talking about (since I can't link urls because of my new account I'm forced into tricks):
- tinyurl id o9d4h9z
- tinyurl id nenpfz8
When I plug the phone on my laptop, I see /dev/ttyACM0 for a short time but adb fails to connect to the phone (it's basically only available when the operator logo shows when the phone boots). I can't boot in recovery/fastboot/whatever anymore by pressing volume down after I reboot it with power+volume up/down.
I have an external SD card on that phone, is there any hope for me to boot onto it if I format it right? Are there other key combinations/tricks to put the phone on fastboot/recovery? I tried some trick around adb but adb just can't connect to the phone anymore.
Thanks in advance
soft bricked.
I think I may have bricked a phone it says unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped

Samsung Galaxy S6 cannot boot into OS even in safe mode. Need help to backup photos

My phone cannot boot into the OS. I would like to back up the photos directly in the recovery mode using USB cable+PC before factory reset.
Before the problem happened, my phone was attempted to update the software for about a week. Since it did not have enough free space, it prompted me to either free up more space or do the update later. I always hit update later. Until 3 days ago in the morning, my phone restarted (perhaps attempted to update) and stuck at the red Verizon screen and cannot power off unless power off from bootloader or Android recovery. I have tried to go to Safe mode but the phone just would not go past the red Verizon screen. If I go to Android Recovery by hitting power+volume up+home buttons together, it says system update (blue screen)-->update fail (blue screen with a dead robot)-->Android Recovery (black screen). In the Android Recovery, I have tried to wipe cache partition but still cannot get into the OS.
Now, I am hoping to back up the photos in my phone from a PC with a USB cable directly in the recovery mode. My phone is not rooted and does not have TWRP or any recovery app installed. When I connect the phone to a PC, the icon in notification (bottom right of Windows 10) shows that the PC can find my phone. However, when I go to "This PC", the phone does not show up in the "Devices and Drives." I have also tried Samsung Smart Switch and it cannot find the phone.
Please help! Thank you.
