3830 CIFs.ko for CIFs Manager - Dell Venue

Hello I am very new to the forums and very new to doing anything other than using stock android devices.
I have recently ROOTed my Dell Venue 3830, but have hit a snag on using CIFs Manager (the whole reason to do the rooting in the first place). I have google searched and have tried many other CIFs.ko files in hopes that it would work. Sadly all have failed.
Can anyone point me to an already created CIFs file or make one ? I would be very happy for any help or feedback.
Or if there is a custom rom i could install that has it preloaded that would be amazing

You would need kernel source for the version of android you are using, then you would need to edit the source to add CIF module and compile it.

Hmm being a noob this seems very daunting... Is there any custom ROMs (Cyogen, Custom KitKat, etc) that is already pre-built for the 3830?

Thank you for all the replies. I really appreciate the feedback and Ill starts saving for a new Tab. I'm leaning toward a Nexus or Nvidia Shield.
In the mean time is there anything cool I can do with the 3830 now that its rooted?

Dual boot Android (JB or ics) on windows 8laptop.

I've seen Android (presumably honeycomb) running on notebook computers alongside windows 7 or vista basic, and now that I've freed my second partition I'd like to try either android our ubunto on it, and if JB our ICS are possible I'd love that since I love JB on the phone.
I run I3 with 4gb ram on an acer aspire.
is there any way to do this?
cheers, D

Nice one mate Trying now
As long as it is a 64 bit system It should work. Won't work on 32 bit system
Batcom2
There wasn't a version that was compatible with my laptop afaik , I'm fairly noob though.
I installed Ubuntu on the dual boot instead in the end as it looks potentially amazing even if simple things like wine or Skype Dont work (apparently this awesome style interface broke compatibility with many apps?)
I'd never tried Linux before so its an experience , and android is loosely based in a Linux kernel right?
Looking forward to the Ubuntu mobile os now

Do you try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/super-alpha-posted-permission-xposed-t3072979 ?
we can install xposed with Intel Android Devices Root / Temp Recovery Session

but it cause bootlooping on 5.1. so we need uninstall each bootlooped startup...
i tried many times but still can't find the appropriate one.
Dell's encryption cause it?
anyway, i also hope working exposed on 5.1 and someone will tell us which xposed we should install.

The latest version definitely does not work (on 7840). Tried to find help in the xda xposed thread, but without luck. Finally, I've opened an issue report on GitHub. I'm still hoping for an answer by the developer.
Dell Venue 7840 / Android 5.1 / Rooted user here. I have tried the Official and romracer instances of XPosed.
In each case ,the system boots past the Dell logo, and then the Intel logo appears. It animates itself twice, but the system remains there indefinitely.
Out of curiosity, did any of you have Xposed working when you were on 5.0?
There is a wonderful project that installs a full Lollipop Xposed without involving recovery. x86 support coming soon. It would be worth a shot at that time.

[WIP][ROM][PORT] MIUI v7 for Nexus 6P

Hi everybody in the Nexus 6p forum!
Today I want to present you my (actually Work-in-progress) port of MIUI v7
It's based on the stock build MTC19T and the MIUI itself it was ported using this guide (which I don't know if it's right, i used 2nd e 3rd post method) from the Mi Note (not pro) cause has similar specs of our beloved device.
The rom doesn't work at the moment, and I'm still working on to make it bootable and usable. I'm asking for a little bit of help doing this, since it's my first public rom, and my first port!
ADB shows up in device manager on windows, but no device is there when I type "adb devices". So I need to start fixing that first. Also, the rom bootloops forever, ATM.
I invite any developer or non-developer to try it and help me get this adb working, so I can debug it.
You can reach me here on XDA or on hangouts at cappy95 (at) gmail.com
*** TAKE A BACKUP FIRST! ***
Download files:
Download from Mega.co.nz
Note: you need at least WinRAR 5.x or 7zip to extract this file.
Please do not mirror this rom without permission, just ask, if mega it's a problem for you.
Instructions:
Code:
0) You need a TWRP recovery installed
1) Put your Nexus to bootloader mode
2) Open a command prompt where you have your fastboot located
3) Type "fastboot flash system" without quotes and drag onto the terminal the system.img file
4) Type "fastboot flash boot" without quotes and drag onto the terminal the boot.img file
5) Reboot to recovery
6) Do a factory reset
7) Go to Mount and mount Data and System partitions
8) Flash or sideload the additional file
9) Wait forever at the bootanimation, it doesn't get past it.
TODO:
Code:
- Make the ROM usable
- Prettify the thread
First thing that will be flashed on my brand new 6P when I get it in a few weeks once it's Bootable.

Good luck man! :good:
It would probably be a faulty ADB setup or something similar.
Should've really went with the first method. Its a bit more difficult at first but you will end up with a more finished product. The method that you're taking will involve you having to hack together fixes.

Patchrom is only for 4.4.4 Kitkat. There's no kitkat for our device, nor will never be. That's why I had to use the third method, is the ONLY way to get MIUI on marshmallow.
I also prefer compiling over hacking things together, because you mess up things, but there's no source of MIUI whatsoever, especially for 6.x...
Wouldnt it be easier to try porting from nexus 5 rom? http://en.miui.com/extra.php?mod=rom/download&r=232&mobile=no
Or no difference whatsoever since it has different cpu?

It does use 4.4.4 KitKat.
Don't look at the version, because MIUI has 3 indipendent versioning systems, as far as I understand it.
1) The android version (which can be anything from 4.4.4 to 6.x)
2) The UI version (v6,v7,v8)
3) The rom version (6.5.12 atm writing)
All of those are indipendent, so I can have a MIUI v7 (latest) rom version 6.5.12 on android 4.4.4, 5.x or 6.x.
So yeah, it does have a different CPU and ALSO, a different android version.
So, by the first rule of porting, you CAN'T port roms with different sdk versions.
There are unfortunately no shortcuts... I searched the whole intenets to a better and different way of doing this... No luck. It could become easier once they release MIUI on 6.x on Mi Note pro, but for now, the closest device we can use to port is Mi note (Snap 801 - 32 bit processor).
Also, I tried to port also from Mi 5 (which should help, since is 820, 64 bit) but surprisingly, that didn't even made past the boot.
So yeah, I'm running out of ideas, I tried nearly EVERYTHING, last thing I can do is debug by kmesg, but it will take months to just get past that bootanimation. But I guess is the only way out...
Thanks for clarification, and sucks to hear that! Yeah appears there are no sd 808 or 810devices running miui 7 based on marshmallow, this is best shot and its a long one
Maybe this can help, mi note pro is snap 810

[PROJECT] Custom ROM for the SM-G360V

I'm currently working on a long-term project to get a custom stock ROM (if that makes sense) for the Galaxy Core Prime G360V. My goal is to make it exactly the same as the stock ROM, except minus all the bloat and possibly with root/SuperSU baked in. My first step in this project is complete; I have successfully extracted the root>system folder of the phone. You can download it from the link if you would like to assist me in this project. I'm still relatively a noob, so I will need some help with this. Any tips or assistance would be appreciated. Some info about the ROM I'm using:
Model no: SM-G360V
Android version: 5.1.1
Baseband version: G360VVRU3BOK2
Build number: LMY48B.G360VVRU3BOK2
Heavily inspired by Psilocelium: [url]https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core-prime/how-to/sm-s820l-freshly-built-rom-core-prime-t3516067[/URL]
Download link (PM me if dead):
https://www.mediafire.com/?cuwxch6xch255kq
UPDATE (5/21/2017): Academics have been really busy lately, but I should have time to finish the ROM this summer. I've upgraded to the Moto G5 Plus but will still be around to help with this device. Thanks for the support, and you all will know when the ROM is ready.
Leave a thanks if this helped anyone. And if you can offer any help to my little project please PM me. Thanks!

Thanks you for sharing what you are doing. If you want some help, I can help you. If you want th build a custom Rom based on samsung stock rom, you'll need 2 computers with Linux and Windows or a dual boot (Linux to edit system image and windows to use ODIN, but you can also use linux to flash .tar, but for me its really complicated ^^ )

Yeah, same with the G360V. After I mod this stock ROM, I'm going to build cm13 or 12.1 for it
OP update, check it out.
Sorry for inactivity.
I recently lost my Core Prime and as a result cannot develop right now. But I plan on doing something a bit more radical.. making a real custom ROM, like Lineage.
If any of you can, I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to grab one of the ROMs for other variants: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...m-lineageos-14-1-samsung-galaxy-core-t3586184
Edit the updater-script (with Notepad++) to include "coreprimeltevzw" and flash it with FlashFire. Let me know of the results if you do it. As soon as I find my own I will be trying it myself. Thanks all.
