[Q] Stock browser Kitkat safe??? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to install some Kitkat-roms on my wife's phone but they all seem to include the stock (AOSP?) browser.
I thought this browser wasn't safe and Kitkat was shipped without this stock browser, to include Chrome.
Is the (new?) stock browser now safe and based on chromium or something?

[Q]How to Install Stock Browser on MIUI Rom?

Hi everyone
I just installed the MIUI Galnet Stable 2-9-23 and I am very disappointed with its browser, therefore i would like to know if there is any way i could install the Galaxy S 2's stock browser on it, I downloaded a Browser.apk and Browser.odex files, which i was told to put in /system/app with root explorer.. but then what?
Thanks in advance for the help and enlightment.
You're better off installing opera mobile, its much better than the stock miui browser. I've seen a thread on the miui forum on how someone got the cm7 browser on miui, but it still wasn't as smooth as stock browser on a samsung rom.

[Q] Install Stock ICS gapps on Samsung ROM (XXLPJ))

Hi,
I have put the latest ICS leak on my SGS2 which funny enough I find better and more stable than the official XXLPQ.
The only things I miss are the stock ICS apps such as the ICS calendar, stock Email for Exchange, stock dialer/people apps etc ... but I also kind of like Touchwizz launcher and would like to keep it.
I have downloaded the latest gapps but is it safe to flash these over a Samsung ROM and would it bring the stock ICS apps that I am after?
I have searched on the forum and found few threads about stock apps but not really what I am after.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Anyone can help for this?
I am trying to get the Email app from the CM9 ROM installed onto my LP3 stock Samsung ICS.
I have tried to copy Email.apk and Exchange.apk to /system/app but that doesn't work, the app is not visible under settings/applications...
I would love to get the stock ICS apps (sms, contacts, email, agenda) on the Samsung ROM (LP3) which I find very stable

Android install on an eBay tablet - Going from ICS to GB?

I have a buddy who bought a DVC A710 tablet off eBay for his kids to use watching vids and playing games. Right now he has ICS 4.0.3 on it but flash vids don't work on sites such as Nickelodeon.com. he emailed their tech support and got a GB file but can't install it. On my HTC I had to unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and flash my ROM, what does he need to do to get Gingerbread on that tablet?
Thanks for the help- Dan
Gingerbread probably wont solve it, ICS is a much better tablet OS anyways and has the same flash support as GB plus a better default browser. Your tablet is an Cortex A8 (ARMv7) so flash should install from Google Play just fine, assuming you have Google Play on it. For a browser try the stock ICS browser but you'll have to switch the user agent to desktop. Or try Dolphin Browser HD with a desktop user agent. The desktop user agent is needed so it doesn't redirect to the mobile site.
