Hi all!
I've been trying to fix my Asus fonepad K012 (FE170CG) all morning. I derped trying to root it and now I require to flash it back to a stock firmware supplied by Asus. Thus far I have been able to get my hands on the original firmware however I have not been able to find an effective tutorial how to flash it. I know I am posting in the wrong sub forum, however after 6 hours I am pretty much at loss here ... Can anyone help me, please?
I have the same problem!

I have the same problem. I tried to flash the stock firmware but the problem remains. My advice is not to flash stock firmware! But if the Demo error pops up very frequently, I can help you flash the stock firmware.
Good luck!

To shed some light on what happened ...
I had updated the fonepad to 4.4 kitkat. Afterwards I used rootzenfone 1.4.6 to root it, it failed and it it started acting like I described above.
For days I looked into what I could do and how to resolve it ... Finally I found the solution to my problem.
1. Downgrade the fonepad 7 K012 back to Jelly Bean 4.3. (You can do this by putting the 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware on the root of your mini SD card, label it k012_sdupdate.zip, switch off the fonepad, boot using the power + volume up combination to get into droidboot, select SD update and let it do it's thing.
2. Once it's completed the fonepad will be downgraded to 4.3, however this isn't the end of it, the asus live demo problem still persists, so you must use rootzenfone 1.4.2 or 1.4.4 to complete the rooting process in order to get rid of it once and for all.
3. For me? It was successful and as I rebooted it got stuck in bootloop. So then I flashed the firmware utilizing ADB's fastboot with the following commands:
fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img
4. Rebooted and my troubles were over. However I really wanted to root it ... So I went total nerdmode on xda and finally found a way to root it.
5. Follow these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58782588&postcount=219
6. Enjoy the fat lady's song ...

So i have a stock sprint note 3 that had 4.4.4 on it.
I attempted to install twrp/cwm through odin, but it failed and now i'm stuck in the failed firmware update loop.
I have tried installing older versions of the stock firmware, seems like i'm stuck looking for a 4.4.4 which seems kinda hard to find right now.
What are my other options, my friend is looking for the serial numbers to see if i can just use keis to recover.

Although your thread will probably be moved to the Q&A section, you stated you are able to install older versions...... take it back into DL mode and Odin 4.4.4. There are several threads you can download the NK4 Firmware from including the Sammobile site.

Honestly it sounds like you're making this more difficult than it really is.
All you need is;
NK4 .tar
SU
&
TWRP
So i'm fairly new to this the last phone i did was my vz s4 (and it went off with less bumps).
I'm stuck in the boot load loop. I can't flash any ROM on it right now, i think i'm trying to find the right 4.4.4 rom. Any place with good rom support would help. sammobile is far too slow on downloads...also there are a few 4.4.4 roms by now.
So the phone was purchased in early Nov 2014, already on a 4.4.4.
I dl'd odin and a TWRP, foolishly didn't make sure 4.4.4 could be flashed in the same way. Odin marked it as failed and when i re-start the phone it runs into the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
The phone can get into download mode just fine (cannot boot)...tho i have no idea what to flash onto it now.

As Nickitt stated, don't make it more than it is. If you can get into DL mode then you are not fully bricked which is good. You need to flash an " Official 4.4.4 Firmware " to get you out of this situation, whether it be a slow download or not. I provided a link in my original first response of several uploads of 4.4.4 that you could possibly use that were uploaded by member shadowcliffs in his same thread/post. After you have flashed the official firmware and gone through the initial setup once again with the stock firmware, get the phone back into DL Mode and flash TWRP or Philz CWM recovery via ODIN. Once you have your custom recovery loaded, flash the Custom Rom of your choice.
Hey dark,
thanks for the quick and very very useful response. i wish i hit this up way sooner i did find those links after hours of searching through garbage. i've been downloading a few 4.4.4 images for the last 2hours. Hopefully this will help me! sadly those are the same slow connections i've scene. damn 50kb/sec so sad haha
I'll keep the board posted. but mostly bump that og thread
Damn, fails on the nk4 image and the nh7.
fails on the same spot system.img.ext4
any other suggestions board? please?
make sure your using the hltespr version of either TWRP or philz recovery, if its not working on TWRP switch to philiz. Could also be a bad download - re-download and flash again
Why don't you just use TWRP Manager to install TWRP after you root?

Parallels is a better option imo as far as v-machines are concerned but anything after Mountain lion doesn't work well. The newest mac osx doesn't work at all with Heimdall. It won't download the pit file. If your running mavricks you can try using a program called winebottle
How to Run Odin On Mac: http://youtu.be/j7fpouzMSsk also jOdin is another desktop tool to use. jOdin is a early stage online flashing tool with limited capabilities at this time.Beings its a online flashing tool. I would make sure to have a good internet connection or you could run into trouble im guessing. All in all I think its a good idea I just hope this project keeps going.

Ulefone Be Touch OTA
Hi,
I have rooted my Be Touch and installed custom recovery as well using this guide
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-ulefone-touch-lollipop-t3132204
Now, there is an available OTA from the local reseller and I can't install it due to custom recovery. How do I update my phone now? The error I am getting is System is Damaged which I have attributed to CUstom Recovery upon searching google
I have the same problem to update phone. The downloaded update.zip file over OTA could be found in my SD-card, just 18.89Mb. I've tried to install it using recovery by choosing "install zip -> choose zip from sdcard". But finally I got following error:
...
Verifying current system...
"EMMC:boot:7262208:..." has unexpected contents.
E:Error in update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Hofefully someone could help?
yes same with me, I am trying sideloading with ADB but I do not know about that, unable to make a connection between PC and phone. Maybe someone has stock recovery image so we can perform the OTA update? Anyone can upload their stock recovery?
Reverting back to kitkat.
I tried flashing using spflash on my Ulefone Be touch, it was on lollipop and it did not transition to kitkat. it in fact got semi bricked but i got through that and fixed it. the phone was originally rebranded so it had another skin on top of it (not ulefone). how can i get it back to kitkat? do i have to root it and manually flash it on my phone? or is flashing a downgrade not possible by just regular means?

Here is the latest stock rom: http://ulefone.com/download/betouch.html. You will find the boot.img and recovery.img in the zip file. But I'm afraid to brick my phone to have a try. Moreover I don't know whether this root method could still work if I get phone flashed successfully...
are you using a rebrand? I already flashed the recovery of Be Touch, unrooted my phone as well but OTA is still failing, even manual zip install and sideload fails. I guess it is because my phone is a rebrand and thus, uses another recovery as stock. I have used this ROM as my base now and I can confirm that root is still working

I think my phone is not rebrand, because there is ulefone logo on rear cover. I got it rooted with Build 20150513 ROM.
With the rooted Build 20150513 ROM, I get phone flashed with official Build 20150529 ROM successfully. Afterwards, the root method still works!
yup and i hope we get new build soon with bug fixes! Does your phone get a lot of heat when charging and browsing 3G?

I've used several phones and can accept this one. More faster to change the phone more heat will get produced. Surfing or gaming will need more hardware resource and power for display, no wonder that it will get warm too. Maybe a metal cover will get heat better distributed, but then it will be sold in another price...

You should try 20150702 ROM. Phone is now not less hot when charging and surfing. I did flash back to official 20150529 ROM and then do the OTA update.
There is a ROM of ulefone be touch 2 on needrom !
Rooted Be Touch 2, Xposed, Loving it.
Hi folks. I used this process to successfuly root my Ulefone Be Touch 2. Instead of the provided recovery.img and boot.img, I used a version of Carliv Recovery and the Be Touch 2 boot.img found through needrom and it worked perfectly.
I was also able to install Xposed Framework by changing the Android version from 5.1 to 5.0 in prop settings (using BuildProp Editor) - which is fine since most say it's fake 5.1 anyway.
Does anyone know whether people have successfully installed custom roms to the Be Touch 2? I find the stock ROM laggy - more so than it should be - but I hesitate to install something like CM or Liquidsmooth without knowing.
Thanks again to the OP!!
Looking for Be Touch 2 Root and Recovery too! Any luck? Thanks in advance!
Download link dosen´t work
Hi, I don´t get the download link to work. I only gets the error code "403 forbidden". Can you please upload the files again, thanks.
[edit] Got it working, was just my antivirus that was blocking it for some reason
It worked!!
Thanks alot man.
I have looking for a root to this device since i got it, and now its rooted
I got this working on win10 (and also working on win8/8.1), but what you have to do is disable "driver signature enforcement". Check this vid if you don´t know how (youtube.com/watch?v=PAxTCvRmlio)
Please make a video
Please Im really new to rooting I have always had iOS and I would really appreciate it if anyone would like to make a video tutorial

Hi,
After following http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-ulefone-touch-lollipop-t3132204 i get to the download part after selecting boot and recovery.
BDROM ERRPR : S_DL_GET_DRAM_SETTING_FAIL (5054)

And now the phone won't boot. It does detect when the battery is removed on com15, can I use any other tools to at least boot the phone?

Hi all-
Thanks for the awesome wealth of information-this forum has helped me out more times than I can count! So, I pulled a bonehead move yesterday with my new (to me) AT&T S5 Active - I'm fairly familiar with using Odin and read what I later found to be the outdated root method and unfortunately soft bricked my phone...I started out with a totally stock phone and followed the instructions here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799754 - to try to downgrade my phone from the most current 5.1.1 PB5 firmware to NE4 in order to use Towelroot. As I did more research I found that the later 5.1 updates prevent downgrading...Odin still allowed me to push the NE4 firmware but now my phone only boots into recovery. I've tried a number of .zip recoveries and later (but not PB5) kernels through Odin but I either get kernel mismatch or other errors and can't get it to boot. Now that I know this phone can't be rooted (which seems crazy to me...thanks Samsung!) I'm just wanting to get it back to stock so I can give it to my Dad and get him off of his Lumia - does anyone have a stock ROM that would work or any ideas how to get back up and running? I'm not finding any newer firmware out there and any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have adb on your computer? If not download it, if you do, boot to recovery and hit "apply update from adb". Now, assuming you are familiar with adb and it's commands, adb sideoload it. If that doesn't work do the Odin thing again and make sure your device is in download mode and after the flash is complete you will have to wipe data/factory in recovery otherwise you'd be stuck in a bootloop.

Hi RAZERZDAHACKER - Thanks for the reply - yeah, unfortunately tried that and all I'm getting is 'E:footer is wrong E:signature verification failed' errors...it's the same whether I try to apply any of the ROM .zips I have via ADB or from the SD card. I'm guessing I need a matching version ROM to the PB5 that I had? I've looked but I can't find a download for it anywhere since it's only a few weeks old...I'd just throw in the towel and bring it to the AT&T service center (as much as I hate the thought of it) if it wasn't about a 6 hour round trip for me.
I can see the pain for a 6hr trip + you are lucky if they even will accept it since you tamper with device. Have you looked at this thread? It might help you.

I think I have the solution!! Remove battery for 5min and boot into download mode and flash via odin! If that didn't work, report the odin log.
Hi all,
hoping someone can help me out. I flashed the Lineage rom and i got it working ok however i missed google pay so i decided to return to stock.
i tried placing the update.APP in the dload folder and running the force update procedure but it fails at 5% with just an update failed message. I have tried using the erecovery to download recovery and rom but that says it failed to get the package information, i have tried flashing the images from the update.app using fastboot but theres not really any decent info on which bits i need to flash to get it fully back to stock (and relocked)
If i try fastboot relock
Code:
i get error, root is risk
EDIT: fixed that if anyone needs help

Hi
Could you tell me how you removed the root, I am having the same problem on my Mate 10 Lite, I want to return to stock, but it eludes me all the time because of root. I have used what should be non-rooted backups, but they say root. The only backup that worked ended up turning my phone into another unit so no luck there either. Would love to hear how you did it?

I'm trying to flash the most current/last official ROM from the ASUS website. I'm using TWRP. I currently have a custom Android 7.1 ROM installed.
I wiped the table with TWRP and am trying to install the ASUS ROM. It looks like it's working and then I get a red error message that says something about failing with ERROR: 7.
Any suggestions?
Sorry to raise this old topic but ...
This is the precisely the issue I'm having now. It appears the official ASUS ROM fails to install on a modified (or rooted?) tablet.
What I've been experimenting with instead is the information in this thread.
It looks promising, but I'm having a bit of trouble finding some of the files it mentions as the post is rather old, and some of the things it references don't appear to be hosted.
Give it a try, and see if you get further than I did (and let me know if you do get it work, how you did it!).
Cheers, and good luck.
