Hello, i have a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, got it from guy for 5$, cause it's not turning on.
Bringed it back home, plugged in into A/C and saw, that it only boots in Recovery mode. Tried to install custom .zips, doesn't work, shows errors. Tried to connect it to PC in Download mode, got many problems, drivers, Kies.... Finally i've managed Odin to find my phone only in that method: put battery out of phone, killed Kies.exe process, put the cable into phone, battery in with Volume Down button pressed, and vuola, Odin found it, but.....
When i tried to install 2 stock firmwares, there's what Odin shows:
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> boot.bin
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.

And it fails.. I've tried two different computers, two different cables (one is original, one is different), changed USB ports, did everything.. So i'm asking for help, thanks for reading.

Is the stock rom you've downloaded corrupted? There might be a problem with the nand chip on your phone.

I just got my phone yesterday and rooted it. Installed CWM and OCLF. Everything went fine.
Then today I:
-Disabled the lagfix, flashed the Fascinate lockscreen through CWM.
-Enabled the lagfix.
-Saw that the lockscreen took away my battery mod
-Disabling OCLF takes forever so I ask the forum if its okay to flash stuff other than roms without disabling OCLF
-Was told the lagfix is only to be disabled if flashing full ROMs
-Tried flashing battery mod in CWM without disabling lagfix first
-Phone ended up in endless boot up so I go into recovery mode and deleted user data
-Phone still endless boots so I look up ways to unbrick/flash stock JFD
-Downloaded Odin and put phone into download mode
-Phone is stuck at "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!!" screen, and does not mount to computer through USB
Aaaaand this is how I'm sitting as of now. What do I do? Did I really just break my one day old phone?
Make sure that you install the drivers or odin won't do you any good. Once you have the proper drivers installed, odin will display a com# in red. From there just go to the stickies about flashing Eugene's froyo that doesn't brick. Then back to jfd.
Your phone is fine... or it will be.

Installed driver for the phone, my computer makes the connection sound when I plug in the USB. But it is still not showing as a drive.
And I've been searching for a while now, I seem to be unable to find that thread with Eugenes froyo that doesnt brick.
Get your phone into download mode. Make sure that the USB cable is not plugged in.
Open Odin.. preset everything (PDA,etc) in its respective boxes
Plug your phone in.. Odin should detect a COM#
Press start
And it should work.
Drivers are located: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929 (these work.. try re-installing if above doesn't work)

Try uninstalling the drivers you installed and install the ones I linked above with respect to 32-bit or 64-bit (depending on your OS). I had this problem before, just pull the battery and get it back into download mode and do it again after installing the drivers and restarting. Remember to pre-load all the files before plugging in the usb

Download mode or recovory works ?. Then flash a stock ics Rom and try again.
Hope it works..

Unplug your phone from usb.
Close odin and open it again.
just hold down power button while press volume down and home button. it will reboot into download mode
plug in
set pda and etc accordingly. flash.
Whenever you fail, you must close odin and unplug to try again to be sure.
Also try changing usb port if one side fails. Make sure your pc recognize and install driver before you plug in

Have you tried a usb jig to get you into download mode? If you don't have one look at the thread about jig's on your area.

Indeed you can't access download mode now. But JIG will solve your problems. I had this problem myself 1 year ago and made a JIG.When you connect it, the phone will enter in Download mode. Search here for a tutorial on home-made jig, it takes you less than 10 minutes to make.
Good luck!

So you cannot get into download mode ?
A JIG puts the phone into factory mode which is the same as odin and download mode.
I was forced to make a JIG several months ago.
Good luck.

Hello guys,
I own an unlocked, unbranded SGS3 I9300 on the O2 UK network. Samsung Kies happily advised me of a new update for my phone so I went ahead and started to update. This is my first smartphone where I haven't rooted it or flashed an unofficial ROM, every ROM I have used has been downloaded and updated through Samsung Kies.
This time it failed...
It gave me a generic SGS3-I9300 error code. I turned my phone off and back on again, and it displayed the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." error. Plugged my phone back in, ran Kies, started the emergency recovery... it was taking a long time. It reached 19%. I left it for about 45 minutes and it shot up to 47%. A while later, 53% and I went to bed, leaving it on. Woke up in the morning to find that the emergency recovery had failed at 59%. So this morning I have attempted to start the recovery process again... and it has been stuck at 0% (after confirming that I wish to recover) for over 30 minutes now.
As far as I understand it my next step is to install Kies on another computer and attempt emergency recovery from there. Is that correct? If that fails or is not the next course of action, what is?
2013 has not been a great year for technology for me so far and heck, I've flashed custom ROMs, rooted and HSPL'ed all of my previous phones and cannot recall having a problem but I decide to use the official program and the official updates and this happens? Luck of the draw.
Next course of action is to install a custom recovery, and then flash a custom rom.
Seriously.
If you prefer stock though, I think there are stock roms out there which can be flashed via CWM or Odin. Should be there in the dev forums.
Try a different computer. If it doesn't work, download a stock rom and flash with Odin.

You don't need to be rooted. Can you enter recovery mode (vol up + home + power, then release power after logo comes up), then do a wipe.
Try flashing with a different pc, also run odin as an administrator.

Tried recovery mode but it still gives me the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" message, same as if I tried to turn it on normally.
Odin is being run as administrator. Will use a different PC.
Thanks for the help
Thanks given all-round.
Installed Odin on my dad's laptop and the USB drivers. Flash failed the first time around but swapped USB ports and it sailed through second time.
Phone seemed dead but it appears as though the battery has been wiped down to 0%. Charging for about 10 minutes, the phone booted, installed, updated, optimised and did stuff and finally got into the Android OS as I remember it pre-flash.
Not holding my breath just yet but it appears as if my phone is back in business on a Stock ROM

Long story short, i wanted to install a new rom that required twrp to work correctly. i read that i could flash back and forth from twrp to cwm and vice verse just by using their respective file from each other. i downloaded the twrp zip and flashed it from cwm recovery, rebooted and phone booted. i then for some dumb reason used ClockWorkMod app and chose to reboot into recovery even though i have never had any lock using the app. ( always do my flashes manually) Now i am stuck in a loop. phone turns on, vibrates, shows samsung logo then reboots. doesn't matter how i try to turn on. ( odin download, recovery, or regular boot)
Any suggestions??

If it fails 3 consecutive times, I suggest moving to Kies for an emergency restore of the device.....g
Before you go any further, I would suggest as Bubba said, to check the power button. Sounds like it's stuck.
Edit: I also see that the latest twrp has been causing issues as well. Either way. Good luck!
I read about the latest twrp issues and im thinking that is whats causing the problems, but i have read that others have been able to fix by just flashing or odin downloading and starting over again.
I don't think the power button is stuck. When i push it, it feels normal, bounces back and everything. If it was stuck would it still mechanically operate normally? Plus i am able to get into odin download mode. Is my thinking wrong here.
I also tried the stock recovery and stock rom from Da_G and both just sat there forever and then failed but it restarted the phone so it must be communicating right?
I really miss my phone, should i be asking somewhere else?
Well...it's most likely not the power button unless that was fixed and you have a new problem. When the power button is stuck, the phone will continue to vibrate and attempt to boot.

i can't use kies cause i can't boot the phone right? or am i miss understanding how kies works.
You can use Kies in download mode and do a firmware upgrade. It sounds like you wiped your OS. You should be able to use the stock Odin tar to recover. I would grab a fresh download and try again. If all else fails, use Kies in download mode and do an emergency firmware flash(or whatever it's called)
kies won't connect to my phone in download mode either. i tried re installing drivers, i went through the kies connection error troubleshooting stuff. i hate to think it is something to do with my pc because i know i have connect to it before when i first got the phone and rooted it. maybe I'll try using the laptop tomorrow. any other ideas please keep them coming. I'll make a nice donation to the one who comes up with something that works.
It won't connect while in download mode like it does when booted normally. It will just continue trying to connect from what I remember. Make sure you grab the phone info behind the battery. I think it needs the model and S/N. Then do an emergency recovery. Been a while but I think it needs to be all caps as well when you enter the info.

Had something similar happen about a week ago or so. Only difference is mine completed the process after reconnecting to odin and re-did the CWM, was all good afterwards. I know it's probably been mentioned but just trying to help. If you can get into factory recovery or download mode, do it, connect to Odin, follow the steps exactly as when you first rooted your phone, no need to install the super user if it's something you already installed previously, do it up until it says passed and unplug from the computer, your device should re-boot, fingers crossed. You more than likely already know what to have checked in odin and what not to have checked. Delete/Un-Install the TWRP newest update and go with I think it is 2.3. something. It helped me, maybe you, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well.
Thanks Everyone!
Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I have been trying kies for the last couple days to no avail. (which i wouldn't have even got started if it wasn't for Froid's all caps hint, small donation sent your way for that). But in the end it was my PC, i hooked up to the laptop and bam, first try. Grrr damn windows drivers, i keep threatening to kick windows to the curb, but then again i have paid a dime for any version since 3.1. LOL
Thanks again!

I tried to use KingoRoot and apparently it's "bricked" my tablet. I've done lots of reading and I'm stuck, and need help please.
1. I have latest Odin, 3.10.7 from odindownload
2. My tablet is a SM-T560NU, and came with 5.1.1
3. I found a recent image for my exact unit model, and have downloaded it: BNN-T560NUUEU1AOH6-20151215094559
The instructions I have seen everywhere say to launch Odin3, wait for the tablet to connect (it does), load the image into "AP" (I do), and turn ONLY on options "auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" (which means keep re-partition off, which they stress). When I click start, it goes about 5 minutes, then says this:

Help, any ideas? I've tried 2 images.. the one I said above, and another for a SM-T560 (non-NU), and both give the exact same above fail in Odin3.
figure anything out? in th eprocess of downloading and fixing my sm-t560nu tablet also.
make sure you have the correct firmware rom, there's sm-t560 and there's sm-t560nu
same problem, rooted it last night with kingroot, worked fine until i turned it off and tried to turn it back on
did it take forever to download your firmware? if not can i ask where you got it from cuz mine is taking 7 hours to download
well i got mine all up and running, if you're in canada you might have the wrong rom file because the one i needed for my samsung galasy tab E "sm-t560nu" the file name started with xac and not bnn, i had to get mine from
samsung-firmware . org
and pay i think it was 5.99 usd, did exactly what it said at the bottom of the page for the instruction in odin and everything worked great but make sure to use the same email account u used originally when your setting up that tablet on its first boot up
was a lil confused since the instructions said to click on ap/pda and there's only ap in odin3 but ap/pda is renamed to just ap in the new odin.
good luck
Loading a new ROM in Odin, although I 100% had correct one, did NOT help. I could try 1000 times, and it wouldn't budge. The trick was a post I found on another site that talked about a recovery mode.... a hard reset.
What I actually had to do was the following:
1. Go into RECOVERY MODE, and do a reset. (Doesn't unbrick, but allows Odin to work)
2. Go into DOWNLOAD mode, and then use Odin to load image.
Here are the steps for both:
Recovery Mode Samsung Galaxy J1 SM-J120F
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume UP key + Home Key, while pressing these keys then press and hold Power key for a while
Release all key when Android or Samsung logo appear then you will see Android System Recovery
Use Volume keys to select Menu
Use Power key to Confirm
Download Mode or ODIN Mode
Turn off the device
Press and hold Volume Down key + Home Key, while pressing these keys then press and hold Power key for a while
Release all key when you see ODIN Mode / Download Mode
Use Volume Up key to continue
Use Volume Down key to cancel ( Restart the device )
As for firmware, I got mine from (I can't post url's here yet, forum rules) a place called : You Mobile dot Org. ... for free.
Now if we can find a way to actually ROOT it, I'd be thrilled.
Any help on this? i just got this message and waster an hour downloading the firmware, and still stuck with odin.
i dont see anything saying menu in Recovery Mode
This is my Odin message

kingroot and OEM unlock
use samsung smart switch to fix your SM-T560NU tablet if you used kingroot. I couldn't boot because it said ... "custom binary blocked by FRP" used smart switch it restored the tablet to factory settings. the solution is to unlock developer options and select "OEM unlock" then use king root. king root should warn the user about this issue. Good luck!

Found a copy of firmware on sammobile just register and download. It's super slow if u don't pay but it will finish. Fixed tablet n wife didn't kill me. No more kingroot for that tab. Although kingroot did work for the tab4 that I found in a bush (obviously stolen and ditched cause they couldn't bypass the screen lock)
I have full root, sticks after multiple reboots. I used kingroot, forced it to root, then after de-bloating, unrooted. It has been hanging out in that state for a week while I worked up the nerve to try turning off OEM under development options and telling it to root again, which I did this morning. Is running like a champ now.
Next problem is there is no custom recovery, so I am working to get xposed installed by zip somehow and be able to backup.

You can use Flashfire to install Xposed if you convert to supersu first.
I have been working on TWRP with a tester (I don't own this device) however it doesn't boot yet, I have a feeling I need a permissive kernel, but Samsung have not released the source code yet.

I could not get supersu to install no matter what I do so am stuck for now. Has anyone had any experience using flash Gordon to install zips, or know how to get supersu to install?
