Anyone thinking about putting this case on? I had on my NOTE II and it was not bad at all.

As a matter of fact I was looking at this case this morning. I think it will make a good Christmas present to myself. Lol

They make your gorgeous phone look like an iphone and I am done with iphones.
Wow billet cnc that is pretty cool. At first I though it had a solid screen cover that was removable in a safety deposit box kind of way, at that point I would have bought one. but that was showing how to put the back on, not the usage.

I would consider it, but I'm worried about signal loss.
It's seems in the photo that the spen would be hard to get out.
Looks great but that silk screening on the back is horrendous and I'm not convinced it won't screw with the signals.

exactly,,after I looked again that silk screen it would have blow the deal. But the concept is good. The N3, really think missed the mark on the chrome surround rim it should be much gippier/sharp edged. after a couple weeks use still not used to it. It looks great and speaks to the history of phones that had a solid horizontal sheet of steel in them, is retro Bond like, but it is just too slippery I just ordered a bounce case to see if I'm more comfortable handling it. I haven't been able to relax with it yet moving from desk to car to home to it's most common spot Oxford shirt pocket.(a la pen protector IT nerd.). Ultimately I want a soft zipper less bag on belt loops that has room for 7 cards and USB key but the phone should still be grippier in hand.
Here's one without the silk screening on the back.

Not much money for cnc billet, if it meets your requirements GET IT. if you zoom browser on the bronze assembly it looks like there is some foam tape along the edge where the phone makes contact. Seems like a real engineer has been influencing this build at some level. I'm in the auto industry and foam and glue are the bread and butter of building.
If it had micro cut machining along the edge I would have already bought it.
They really do make your phone look like a giant iPhone lol its looks good tho. But not a apple fan

I bought one, If I build my ideal belt pouch I think this will be much nicer than the Bounce for phone alone, 20$ for billet machined is too good to pass up regardless of what from it will eventually take. I'm anticipating the anodizing to be rather thin but that may be good or bad. torched or steampunk look is possible.
also men of the world keep your finger nails short, even if you don't work, at least pretend.
I just purchased one also, just too s*xy looking to pass up
Im planning to use with a Qi charger and reciever I bought two weeks ago. I'll not be using the stock battery cover so hopefully it will work fine.

Me too, I set out thinking the stock S View wireless would be perfect but this weekend I've change my mind. Have an off market sensor and charge pad rdered and just gonna roll with it. If it doesn't work well by that time the stock kit will be available and we can start over.

Should be 4 days to 3 weeks if my previous Hong Kong / Singapore experience is correct. Usually Hong Kong is most erratic. China and Korea are pretty much 4 to 5 days regardless.
I was so about to get one of these for my note II, but it was $70 back then, plus it came out around 6 months after I got my phone, wasn't going to buy an expensive case when the new phone was around the corner...
Now I ponder to get this or stick with my flip cover, I love the S-view case and the flip cover on my note II was nice too, but this looks oh-so-nice

ooh just realized this case has screws, no go for me, I swap batteries all the time... That's too bad :crying:
That's not an issue for me thankfully. My battery lasts pretty much all day starting around 6am so I'm happy. I've also ordered the Anker 3200mah battery which prople are saying lasts longer then the stock Samsung so keeping my fingers crossed.
You could always use an external battery pack also for emergencies.

I have an Anker 10,000 Mah for my Nexus 10, but even then I hate to leave my phone plugged in all the time, and I use hotspot all the time, which eats battery for breakfast.
will an extended battery fit under the stock case? and isn't the stock battery 3300 MaH?
I haven't seen any extended batteries that fit under the stock case and I doubt they exist. There are some on eBay rated higher MaH but those are definitely bs.

Yea ur right its 3200. 3300 just has a better ring to it.
And ebay batteries I wouldnt trust, I used to buy the cheap ones back when I had the evo line, but ever since I went samsung I always buy oem through the carrier, better warranty support that way too

NFC Compatible UPDATE at Bottom
This QI receiver pad works much better than the first one I tested. It's ability to work with the LG WCP-700 is a huge perk. The pad looks wider, it fits better, works with more pads, works through most cases with no issues etc.
Out of the two I've used so far, this one is better in every way... So far...
By request... This is the auction I purchased it from.

EDIT:
Added this video. It should cover the thickness, couple of cases, Google Orb charger, charge rates, and NFC usage.
EDIT (4/27/2014):
NFC Receiver UPDATE
Well I got really busy after I purchased a third receiver and didn't publish any information until now. Why did I purchase a third receiver? Well it was because of NFC. The second receiver is still the best with charging, but this one is a close second. I could not get NFC to work with the second receiver. This one will work through most cases.
eBay Link: I'm posting search results. Just match up the model with the one in the video. It's easier this way in case some of the auctions end.

So what charging pad do you use with the receiver module?
How long does it take to charge the battery when placed on the pad?
Thanks
The receiver is made by yijieneng.
Does this charging system fully charge a Note 3? Another thread mentioned wireless charging systems don't charge to 100%.

OK, thanks for clarifying!
awesome video, I was looking at that receiver as well, have had good experience with that brand yipin or yieneng on m s4.
the biggest quest for me is does it bulge? the s4 there was a spot where the chips would fit in the notch for the microsd, but I dont see a notch on the note 3 so I wonder if they designed it to fit in some kind of recessed area?
Thanks in advance.
See the 3 pins where you connect the wireless receiver:
Top one is +5v.
Second one is Ground.
Thrid one is for S-View Cover (+) - (in case you wonder that the heck is that for)
In the event that you have a S-view Cover, you just have to use second as a common ground between the receiver and the S cover.

This receiver is pretty thin in everyway, as with all receiver, you will get the bulge, but you will not really notice it, would you rather have a receiver that has no bulge that does not work well or a receiver that has a slight bulge and does what you expect.
Can you still fit a case on with this installed? I have a hard case sedio with a kick stand and do not want to give it up.

am using the same in my car with my qi enabled car charger holder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTNAPp2UkkI

getting the official one in a few days too and will review it when i get it. ordered a second official one from clove uk. my original order for the official one made in early october from mobilefun hit the wall from the scamsters at mobilefun. was repeatedly getting emails saying delivery delayed and whether i will accept alternate product (please note no mention of refund in any email), then a week or so ago saw on their website that it was in stock but still didnt get delivery and got another email saying further delays and saw on website that it was sold out!!!. so sent them email to send it or give refund after cancelling order. they replied with email saying order cancelled and that was nearly 2 weeks ago and yet to get refund. so have raised a claim at paypal and those scumbags havent yet responded to paypal claim and 8 days now since i have escalated this to a claim at paypal and mobilefun havent yet bothered to reply to my paypal claim. if dont get my refund will escalate it to fraud complaint with my credit card issuer against mobilefun. paid via credit card via paypal to mobilefun website in early october. just mentioning this here so that other people dont get scammed like i have been at mobilefun.

Thanks for your videos. I love wireless charging but on the note 3 it's been a bittersweet scenario...got the oem samsung charging back but there are no cases that fit that (at least that I've found) so I'm stuck choosing between a case and wireless at the moment. Your thread has given me some hope though about the possibility of using the original back with an insert that actually works and still be able to fit a case.
One question - does the phone with insert in & case on "rock" when it's on a flat surface? For example, when you have it flat on a desk/table/etc and you hit the home button on the note - does it "rock" toward you and then back after lifting your finger? This is so annoying to me and I wake the device with the home key a lot at work...it'd probably be a deal-breaker for me, but if you can share your insight I might avoid another bit of money wasted.
Thanks!
I've searched high and low, and cannot find a factory windshield mount. Does anyone know if there is such a thing?

I like the concept, but with non form fitting to specific model of phone I would hate to have that thing slip out and nail me in the face while I am going through a tough spot in the mountains. I saw this one but I was worried about the pressure it would be putting on the phones internals.

True, you make a good point. Although it's tougher to get a phone specific holder if you use a case. The location is changeable, an option under that case is for a vent mount. Which may suit you better. All about what the user wants. I thought this one was pretty cool, probably won't buy it because I just put my phone in my cup holder if I'm using it for GPS.

Both
I love that charger, but hard to stomach $50 for the mount and $40 for the charger as current rates go. Seems like no one makes a mount I can attach to the windshield properly with the G3 that doesn't shake constantly. I'd rather not use works charging in the vehicle anyway due to its much lower amperage and greater generation of heat.
I'm picking up a pretty low cost vent mount, will see how that works. I have horizontal vents, good spacing, so the odds are good.
I picked up parts for a ram mount x-grip style windshield mount on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005KWPJ04/
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C7B2NV4
Cost was under $43 shipped. Hoping it will be super stable.
Also have an Smart Fit2 mount on the way it seems from winning an eBay auction that fits the WCP-300 wireless charger in it. I'll probably be reselling that when it arrives.
Edit: parts arrived, easy assembly. Super stable as hoped. Hardest part is that it takes me two hands to put the phone in the mount with the X-grip, one to pull the spring clamps open and one to insert your phone with.
Well, it's not factory, but I have this one, on the way.

For wireless charging how does this exactly work?
It works by induction. You need a special charging station (read: a square box that is resting on your nightstand from now on), where you can put your phone on. You don't have to fiddle with plugs.
The charging station works with a standard USB connection and for your phone you need the above mentioned back cover, with is a complete replacement for the existing backplate. The special back cover contains all the electronics and contact pins to connect with the phones battery.

Of course, they have to place the coil somewhere, it's just a sacrifice you have to make for having the convenience. Also most flexable rubber/silicone cases do work because they stretch (I just prefer to go without them for the sake of ruining the design of the phone).
It should be arriving here by end of week and I'll be sure to take a few pics for you guys.
FYI, I have purchased a wireless charging back for every single Samsung device I have ever owned so I have plenty of experience (S3, S4, Note 3, and currently S5)
I was running the wireless charging back on my LG G3 so I have some experience as well. That back only added 1 millimeter to the thickness...I measured it. Just better design. I have the alpha and I'm currently testing next to the iPhone 6. Liking both phones alot. Need to test battery life

The most disappointing thing about the wireless charging back cover, other than its extra thickness which makes it less flush, is on the standard cover, the SAMSUNG logo is shiny and embossed, giving the same effect as the metallic edging. On the wireless charging cover, its matte and flat like a cheap tacky plastic print. Not at all in-keeping with the quality of the rest of the phone.

Hmm this is quite strange, usually Samsung does not cheap out on those wireless charging back covers and try to make it as identical to original as possible (at least on all the models I've used them on). Perhaps they didn't spend as much into this one due to the lack of popularity/demand for this device. Still surprises me though, it should cost cheaper in that case as well.
@jerflash: Actually on the S5 the gain in thickness is almost not noticeable. My dad uses one and switched backcovers and you don't see it.
Inductive coils are super thin copperwires that need next to no room for themselves.
I bought one of these for my note 3 and even though it did give it some weight and thickness, the battery cover was thick enough that the camera lens would not come in contact when places on a flat surface which was nice.

That is the wireless charging cover of the Alpha right? Can you tell me if it has magnets in it for alignment? I'm trying to build a car dock with magnetic attachment like the Nexus 5 and wonder if this cover for the Alpha would let me do that.

It definitely works (using it daily at work) so whoever you talked to has no idea what they're talking about. Wouldn't be the first time honestly.
That wireless charging cover looks super ugly and so doesn't fit the amazing design of the rest of the pone. Not sure what Samsung was thinking when making such a poor looking charging cover.

And it works? I emailed Samsung and they told me there are no qi chafgers that work with the Alpha. If youre saying it works I might actually buy it and build a magnetic charger for it so I can dock in my car. Thanks!

Thay confirmed OIS,i try to find out anywhere this info but I only find in one US site nowhere else
is it possable that Alpha has OIS
Can you shere this info with us m8
Could you please tell me whether the extra thickness of the cover makes it impossible to fit a case over it? I have in mind a flip case.
Samsung do not yet list a wireless charging back on their web site for the Galaxy Alpha. I wonder if this is a picture of the back for the bigger battery.
I got my official wireless charging back. Unfortunately, it does make the phone slightly thicker which means cases are not going to fit over it. I tried a cheap plastic soft case which I thought would stretch enough to fit but it didn't. So I had better not drop my phone.....
Otherwise, the wireless charging works fine with a Nokia DT desktop charger.
I think it looks nice, and made this phone a lot easier to handle. Figured I'd share:

It will obviously interfere with wireless charging, but NFC still works in my testing; you just need to close the grip first. Overall, it's well-made, a big improvement over the old design. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes using a phone this size but has trouble using it one-handed.
Bought it from here if anyone is interested:

That's awesome. My first thought when I got the 6 was something like this but I never knew anyone actually made it.

Is it possible to reapply to different surfaces if it's already been applied once?
For example, using it with one case then using it on a different case

I've used the FlyGrip since I had the Note2. It is a MUST for this phone since it's so big. Don't forget to use the code QBKING77 for free shipping. You can view his review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eP3aIcsDB0

You can purchase extra adhesive pads for just this purpose. I've used the same FlyGrip with 3 different phones. The website even has a video on how to remove the FlyGrip safely.
This thread is not meant for personal opinions or telling anyone to get a smaller phone,
so please stay on-topic.
So there is no curved version of the grip that will work with the n6 without a case?
QBKING77 has his on the phone itself in his motox vs nexus 6 comparison video
If the adhesive is strong enough I'm sure it could stick to anything.
Looks pretty interesting, not sure about $30 worth of interesting though. Once I find the right case, this may be the move to make. Kickstand + Comfort Grip is a nice combination.

If it were on Amazon I would consider it for $30 but if I buy it and it sucks then I'm out $30. I think its a little over priced for what you are getting.

Flygrip offers a 60 day money back guarantee.
$30 may seem a bit excessive, but you're paying for a sturdy, albeit plastic, component that frees your other hand while holding a large phone. I've had flygrips on my Notes 2 and 3, and they're worth it. I can hold the phone with confidence that i won't drop it. And they last. I used my same flygrip from the note 2 to the 3, using the extra supplied adhesive (comes with 2 adhesive stickers, and 2 pads to buffer fingers in the clip, and all with a free tpu case). I just ordered a new one yesterday afternoon, and just shipped out this morning. It seems like a gimmicky product, but once you use one, you'll never want to be without.

I understand where you are coming from but there are too many drawbacks right now:
-cost (high but justified if you ignore the other issues)
-Has to be fixed to a case so if you change cases a lot like me it's not practical
-qi charging won't work with it
Other than that its a great concept I would really like one that somehow can be removed and isn't as bulky. I still may buy one and just use it with one case for when I want a stand. I'm still not sure if it's right for me.

You do have some valid points. I tend to stick to one good case until i get my next phone. Cost isn't necessarily bad considering i don't go through multiple cases. I dont know much about QI charging. I was curious about that. Is there a range for wireless charging, or does it have to touch the charging pad directly to get any sort of charge?
What good is a wireless charger if it still has to be plugged into the wall???

I would give this a long in depth response but I'll keep it short. People like Qi charging because you don't plug your phone into a wall. I can literally drop my phone onto my charger and it chargers without being picky. I don't have to fumble with a cable when I'm tired or worry about my USB port wearing put. Yes it plugs into the wall because it needs power obviously but you don't actually plug your phone in just the charger. If you want true wireless charging they sell external batteries that can wireless charge your phone. I have one and use it frequently, in fact I made a OP reviewing it if you care to read it. If you haven't use wireless charging then I recommend that you try it. Its easy and more importantly convenient.

I have too many cases but I always do for every phone I buy. I have 12+ cases currently and I switch between them every day or week depending on how I feel.
The current qi standard can charge your phone withing 6-7mm from coil to coil. Meaning that there has to be <6-7mm between the plastic on your phone, case and charger for it to charge. I have 2 qi chargers and its much easier than plugging my phone in.

We always check the XDA forums. We like to chime in and discuss anyone's questions. We also invite you to contact us directly at .
We offer a 60 Day money back guarantee. There is NO RISK TO ANYONE to try Flygrip. Order it with the code "XDA" and receive free shipping. If for some reason, you do not feel Flygrip benefits you to warrant the price, then we are happy to send you a prepaid label to ship it back and get your full purchase price back. Honestly, if you don't like it, we don't want you to have to be stuck with it. We definitely feel if you use it properly, you will enjoy more benefits that you can just "imagine". We have had so few returns, that we are completely comfortable offering this. Amazon only offers 30 days for their returns. We offer a full 60 days.
We manufacture Flygrip in the USA, and have employed 18 people over the course of 2.5 years. We are proud to produce it here in NY, and be able to service our customers.
Please remember, Flygrip is a ONE TIME purchase. You can use it on your next device, and the device after that. Unlike buying a case for $30-60, you do not need to get a new one each time. BTW, we provide a free slim case with each Flygrip purchase. You DO NOT Need a big bulky case, you will not drop your phone and you can enjoy the thin profile that all these manufacturers are working hard to achieve. I use my Note 4 without a case, and if just feels great in the hand.
Regarding Qi wireless charging: Flygrip had a booth at GetgeekedNY last year, and Qi was there, and we tested the Flygrip out on their new version 1.2 version, which charges over an inch thick. So it will not be a problem. The current Qi is about 5-7mm distance which can be spotty, but depends on the phone and placement of the Flygrip (some of the Qi receivers in the phone are above where the Flygrip is typically installed, so you should be able to place it correctly). We will be doing a video soon on that and showing that wireless charging will work if you situate the charging station a certain way.
For those who switch cases a lot, here is a neat trick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXluD3tlWLo
Please read the follow page and the video links to get an idea of the benefits, because really, you can not appreciate the Flygrip until you use it for yourself.

Feel free to ask any question at , we try to respond to the forum posts, but not as fast as direct to us.
I think I could live without the QI (Turbo charger is boss) but what about NFC? Can anyone confirm it still reads with the FlyGrip attached? Thanks.

With all due respect your product and concept is solid, but the price of your unit is excessive. I use to work for a plastic injection factory as an engineer, and the cost of your materials are extremely low. Your profit margins must be through the roof. Once of the products we made were Toyota car vents, which used more materials than the Flygrip, and cost 17 cents per unit. I understand you have R & D, Marketing cost, and you're probably a small company so you can't order as many products as you like to reduce your manufacturing cost, but your product should not cost more than a Supcase that offers a hybrid case and holster. I think your company would sell a lot more if you cost was reasonable. I would be happy to pay $15 per unit, and would order multiple units, but due to your cost being $30 I would never order one. Something to think about, and it's really cool you join XDA.
For those who like the idea but want something cheaper you have a couple alternatives to the flygrip. My personal favorite is the bunker ring, but check it out.
