Hi guys,
I'm a new Vega user and it came supplied with a neoprene sleeve which is fine as a stop gap but I'm now needing something a bit more substantial.
I'm after a case that the vega stays in permanently but it must have 2 key features.
1) Stiff front to protect the screen when the case is closed and the tablet is in my rucksack
2) double up as a stand in landscape mode
Cheaper the better as my budget is tight, so not expecting anything too remarkable.
I've trawled eBay but none I've seen mention both of the above, so I thought I'd ask here for people's opinions on what they have in daily use.
Links to stores in the uk or eBay uk appreciated, but not essential, as long as I know what I'm looking for.
Cheers,
Malty

Been thinking about this one..

I would NOT use that eBay seller, personally, for 2 reasons.
Firstly, they describe the case as "leather", when it obviously isn't. If they will lie about that, what else will they lie about?
Secondly, their negative and neutral feedback suggests that they are not especially nice people to deal with.
The best case to meet your 2 criteria would be the official folio case. It offers the protection you require, only problem is it is not the cheapest case. But in the end you get what you pay for. Totally happy with mine, keep the vega in it all the time.
I don't mind paying if it's right.
Can that one be used as a landscape stand? I've seen it mentioned but never seen a picture of it as such.
Cheers,
Malty
You Can. Posted pics Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908230
I saw that pic (I presume the one in your first post) but wasn't sure how it was held in place.
Is the case locked in that position somehow or is it just held by friction on the desktop ?
cheers,
malty
It is held by friction. My case is a little lose, but a friend of mine has one which is a nice snug fit. Mine was not bad enough to warrant the trip back to currys. You could always take your vega with you and try before you buy.
I like this one. it's over my actual budget , but I'll get one sooner or later.

sadly they don't have any stock at my local currys or pcworld. They also have no vega's in stock but they do have one on display
Oh and I didn't mean what keeps the tablet inside the case, I meant what keeps the case upright in landscape mode ?
Did anyone notice the official Folio case got pulled from pc world? Do you think the TF101 cases would work? The dimensions are very similar, the vega is about .6mm deeper, 4mm wider and 4mm taller.
I bought this case for my Vega
ebay.co.uk/itm/250877574917?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Its cheap and it works, the inner that holds the Vega can be rotated round so it can be either horizontal or vertical, it has 3 slits at the bottom so you can fold it into a stand and choose what angle you want it held.
It also comes with (another) microsd to sd card, a stylus, a cleaning cloth and a single screen protector.
I have been impressed with it so far and for £13 its a steal.
I think im gonna get a custom case made. I'll probly use felt, real leather costs loads!

I have been looking at this and similar cases on ebay but want to know a few things first.
1. Is the case specifically for the vega or is it generic eg, are ports accessible and is the fit right, or is it a bit off?
2. Is the tablet secure, will it fall out?
3. How much bulk does the case add?
Thanks, my vega should be coming in a few days, does it come with a case or sleeve already, I don't want to pre order something unnecessary.
Cheers everyone!

Nope, no case or sleeve Inc.
I bought one from ebay. It's item number 320710547405 and the 'title' is "Foldable leather Case Fits 10.1" Advent Vega Tablet -UK." It came with a free screen protector but I haven't really used it since the case protects it so well.
I was really impressed with the case because it's quite sturdy and the foldable bit at the back (see photos on the item description) is really handy. Also, all the cables, etc. fit in very nicely. Overall, it was a real bargain, especially considering the ones at PC World were majorly overpriced.
Good luck and enjoy your Vega!
Ooops....forgot to say that it does add a bit of bulk to the tablet but to be honest, the tablet had a few close calls before I got the case that I was grateful for the extra 'bulk.' It's not a major amount of bulk though!

I'm still looking for a portraid folio case with a protective screen cover, so that I can also pop the vega into my attachet folder, hope you find what you are looking for

When did you buy your case bud? I got mine in around February when I got my vega and mine has definately got a hard front cover (It lives permanently in its folio case in my rucksack and when I take it out from time to time its still like brand new)
I will make a short video of it at lunch time when the office is quieter lol
I have been looking for a new case for my Sony Tablet S, and I have seen a few people with the ZaggFolio, It’s a case, Bluetooth keyboard and stand all in one but made for the IPAD2.
http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggfolio-ipad-2-keyboard-case
I did some searching and was able to then find the Kensington folio for universal 10 inch tablets. I went into best buy sadly the top part of the Sony tablet S is too thick for the holders and this case does not work either.
http://www.kensington.com/kensingto...niversal-bt-keyboard-case-for-10-tablets.aspx
Does anyone know any cases like this for the Sony tablet, Or know of a good combination of a Case and keyboard? (I don’t want to have to take my cradle every place I go and I would love a case that holds everything and is still easy to carry in my hand)

I didn't like that case and returned it to Amazon, I felt where the sides and top come together the stitching made it stick out too much.

It looks like rooCASE Executive Portfolio (Black) Leather Case Cover might do what I need, but I don't know it it would fit a Bluetooth keyboard inside. Really want I want is a case to hold my Tablet and a keyboard (I found a keyboard that is about the size of a cell phone I could use) as well put my tablet on an angle.
Also looking for a case
Hey there,
I am very interested in finding a keyboard case, so I can use it to take notes at school.
My searching has got me nowhere but sad:

and

But nowhere to buy the product from.
I don't have either available to me to see in person, but am down to one of the two for my new Note 12.2. Would appreciate any and all input in helping make my choice, really can't make up mind, reviews all seem to go both directions.
Thanks much!
I owned the zagg first and returned it for the logitech. The logitech keyboard is superior in every way.
Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
The Zagg is a nice keyboard but a horrible cover.
First, it offers little to no shock protection. It can be diffulct to "unsnap" the tablet from the keyboard and it provides no cover for the back of the tablet. I also don't care for the way it holds the tablet. Seems to put pressure on the glass but that just may be my OCD.
That said, I like the keyboard and the way it functions. I chose to keep my WAWO case and just sit the keyboard in front of it.
If I had it to do over again, I would pass on the Zagg but since I don't think there is a better keyboard yet for the 12.2, I'm keeping mine as it does the job of providing a decent keyboard. If you are looking for a cover, this is not it in my opinion.
.
I have the Zagg and as i agree with mikes assessment of this is not a case. I prefer the zagg over the logi. The zagg seemed to type better for me, is alot lighter - i repeat alot. Slimmer, looks nicer. (Note - a matter of preference) If you want it for keyboard functionality and a case than dont get it. I use a cocoon sleeve made for an 11inch macbook with the zagg and it works well. Also slip the cocoon into another messenger bag when i travel for work. talk about ocd. So the lack of protection is not an issue for me..... The zagg would be great if it was backlit and came in a metal option. When i tried the logi the only things that turned me off were the wieght, thickness and it seemed to slip from the tabs too easy.
I have the logitech and have problems with sudden onset of lag. I know it's not the tablet--I tried on the note 12.2, tab 8.4 and moto x. All experience the lag. This is my second one as the first one also had the issue.
Thinking it's just me since no one else has noticed this. It works initially and then input lag sets in. FYI, I type about 70WPM which isn't terribly fast. The logitech cannot keep up when it starts this lag.
Here is a video-- In German - of the Samsung version of the Zagg type case. I remember seeing this in B&H for release next month.
http://www.bing.com/videos/search?p...&mid=67C41CFB4ACD0E4EF6C967C41CFB4ACD0E4EF6C9
I currently have both cases, but the Zagg will be going back. While I do not care for the folio size of the Logitech, and wish it gripped a bit better, the keyboard itself is like typing on a regular laptop keyboard. I can see myself using it for long periods of time with HWord. The Zagg is light and thin which is nice, but I can't see myself typing on it for long periods of time. It feels cramped compared to the Logitech. If I wanted a cramped feeling keyboard for a tablet, I'd stick with my Note 10.1
I just figured out it's an app causing this lag not the keyboard itself. I downgraded the xposed module called Xposed Additions and all is good now. That said, I much prefer the logitech over the zagg. The zagg is too limited in its uses. Meaning, the logitech offers more comfortable viewing---I like resting my hand on the table while it's standing, for example. It also folds down onto the keyboard. This is a great position while in a car, and the back texture really keeps it from sliding on my lap. The zagg feels to cheap for its price. Edges are sharp, and removing it is really awkward.
The only thing I don't care for is how it closes. Seems wonky. Little bumper pads never line up and easily shift out of place. Logitech needs a better way of closing. I like how easily the tablet comes out of the holding tabs. Nice compromise between having it in a case and (easily) taking it out.

Thanks for all the feedback . . . much appreciated . . . I ordered the Logitech case and will let folks know what I think of it after it arrives.
A question for those of you with the Logitech, does it have the auto on feature of some of the other cases?
What is the weight of each keyboard?
There is no auto on with the Logitech case.

Haven't tried the Logitech, but the Zagg has been used all day and is infuriating. It misses keys every few keystrokes.
Testing seems to indicate this is a problem only with the 3edc keys and the spacebar missing every now and then.
Forgot connection, re discovered, still same issue. Seems to be hardware related. Will take back for a swap.
Hello, I am going to buy the Note PRO 12.2. Could you please give me recommendation? Here are the requirements:
- lightweight
- mostly used on the bus and the train (be sitting or standing. Mostly sitting)
- maybe also while waiting for the bus
- protective against damage due to drop
- ideally and if possible, have different color choices
I plan to add a screen protector as well.
Thanks.
The samsung flip cover is pretty good. Im gonna take one and cut the flap off to use it as a ncoe slim case.

This case has grown on me. The "leather" has softened up a lot, too, and it is very flexible.
I would go with Samsung's own flip cover, but do use a screen protector.

Samsung vs Belkin case
I bought the Belkin case early on from Bestbuy. I am very pleased with it other than the cost (70$). It fits well, turns the tablet on/off and allows many angles of tilt. It has a nice feel and seems to protect pretty well. The magnetic closure is easy to operate but may not hold if you drop it.
I then tried the Samsung case form Bestbuy. It is still expensive and has a sort of cheap feel. It has very limited angles and will likely slip over on many surfaces. I was surprised how poorly it worked! It is a bit more compact but that comes at the expense of less feature and poor protection. I returned it the next day.
I just posted a review for this Exact case on the front page, see if it'll work for you: http://www.amazon.com/Exact-Series-Multi-Stand-Samsung-NotePRO/dp/B00IRLEJZQ
Hi
I'm looking into getting a keyboard for my Note 12.2. I currently have the Samsung book cover and it does what it says and works fine. However I can't decide between a keyboard case or a separate keyboard. My requirements are possibly too much to ask from one device though as most nights I watch stuff on it in bed (not that sort of stuff ) and need to be able to hold it comfortably with the cover behind the tablet.
The one thing I don't like about the book cover is the way it stands up. It's very unstable and to be honest, not suitable to use with a separate keyboard. So if I went with a separate one, I'd need to get a cover/case that supported the tablet much better in landscape orientation standing up.
The keyboard case I was looking at was the Logitech Pro Case. Seems nice but how does it feel when the keyboard is behind so you can hold the tablet? Does it add much weight also?
Any ideas or photos of your set up would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Andy
Too good to be true??

I got the Wedge keyboard, and I bet Amazon has plenty of those used. I wished I waited to get mine from Amazon instead of buying it at full price at Staples. Great build quality, never once failed when using it for either my mac or tablet, and has portability. But any bluetooth keyboard pretty much does the same thing, though it depends on what you want.
If you want portability, get the Wedge Keyboard.
But if you want a bigger keyboard, I bet there are plenty. I've never heard of a keyboard case like the surface covers, but those would be a cool thing.
I have the Logitech cover with keyboard. It is very well designed and pretty comfortable. Its only disadvantage is weight - it weights about the same as the tablet itself.
Wytaptalkowane na notatniku
I prefer a separate bluetooth keyboard. So I've got a Logitech K810. It's exactly the same width as the tablet, so they fit together nicely in a sleeve. Excellent build quality, battery lasts for months and the keys are very responsive (as expected from Logitech's high-end line. It is 100 quid, after all.)
I also prefer a separate keyboard, picked up a used Belkin fsl114 (10 inch wide) for almost nothing that is outstanding. Believe it was in an Ipad case. We use extensively on another tablet and lasts quite a long while. Not quite full sized, about 3/4 size.

I got RAPOO E6700 and with Xposed Additions I'm more than happy with it.
In mobile situations I use Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard, in the Office I use the full size Speedlink Athera Bluetooth Keyboard.
Thanks for all the advice, I'll be looking for a separate keyboard now I've got a decent folio case.
Is there any way to remove the magnets from the Logitech case? Or does anyone know of a keyboard case without magnets?
I really don't want anything to mess up the S-pen functionality and really don't like magnets in general when it comes to proximity to electronics.
The magnets in the Logitech case does not affect the S-pen functionality. Magnets do not affect electronics unless you use a really powerful magnet like the ones used in lifting cars in a junk yard.
However, normal magnets may affect floppy disks by erasing the magnetic part of the disk but who uses those anymore?
Most good speakers have a powerful electromagnet in them and you don't ever hear of those causing any issues with electronic stuff. In my office those speakers are within inches of my laptop and never any issues.

It's not about electronics. The Spen sensor itself is magnetic. Introducing another magnet into the magnetic field of the Spen disrupts the field.
Maybe, but the magnet in the Logitech keyboard does not affect my Spen in my Note Pro 12.2. Is it affecting yours?

Logitech has put a bit of protective material between the tablet and the case in their Note cases. The issue affected all Spen devices.
Cheaper cases, however, don't have that addition.
So annoying that the best keyboard case out there has these. It's a well known fact that magnets disrupt SPen. A clasp would have been fine. Which is why I bought the Speck Folio. And I'm probably going to buy a standalone K810 keyboard. Even if it's way less compact.
Really satisfied with my Logitech keyboard/case combo, the ability to switch layouts (I'm using canadian french) makes it perfect for the job. I'm also using a bluetooth mouse to get the most of it. Add a USB OTG dongle and you get pretty everything you need for a laptop replacement.
The only setback, like the others said, there's no magnet to shutdown the screen when closing the case.
I bought it on ebay for about 60$ which is well worth it.
I had a device with Wacom pen (it was an e-book reader) with cover that had a magnet in it - what it did is it destroyed the pen. The screen still works with another Wacom pen, but the pen that I had with the device is broken and draws only on parts of the screen. So now I avoid any covers with magnets.
I have had the Logitech since I bought the tablet 7 months ago and no problems at all.
