[Q] Signal issues after performing domestic unlock - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I performed the domestic unlock on my phone about 10 days ago, and everything has been good for the most part. I'm currently using the T Mobile MVNO, US Mobile. I'm located in Tampa, FL, and I have HSPA+ in most areas. I've noticed that if I travel into an area with weak signal strength, usually indoors, and and I lose service, my phone will not automatically come back into service when I return to an area that has stronger signal strength. I have to manually toggle airplane mode, and then it will pick it up. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm assuming it maybe has to do with not having the 1700/2100mhz band, but I haven't seen anyone else mention anything similar. It has happened to me on both the MI3 and MJ4 modems. If I go into my phones settings under status, "My Phone Number" says unavailable.
I understand that my phone is not designed to operate on TMobile, so it just might be the way it is. I just wanted to see if this is happening to everyone or just me. If anyone else has experienced a similar issue or has some insight into what might be going on, I'd appreciate it.

[Q] Network registration issue?

Hi All,
I am having a strange problem with my S2 since last few months. I am from Mumbai, India and using Airtel network. There is a spot in my apartment which has very poor network reception of Airtel and I face issues whenever my cell is in that spot for a while. It happens that whenever I take my cell in that area, it starts losing signal bars till no bars are highlighted on the status bar at the top. It keeps showing zero bars but does not show "no signal" icon. Then, after keeping my cell in that spot for a while when I bring it in a better connectivity spot, signal bars start increasing and it appears that my cell has better reception again. However, if anyone tries to call me or I try to call anyone, they get "Out of coverage area" message or I get "Network registration failed" message respectively. I am having this problem since the day I started using Airtel and have tried a lot of remedies but only thing that works is rebooting my cell. I have tried using OpenSignal app to reset my connection whenever my cell comes back from the spot but even that fails to revive it and ultimately I have to reboot.
Has anyone faced such an issue and any ideas about a fix? Does it look like an issue with my cell or could it be an issue with my network provider? I would prefer not to root my S2 since I have 3 years warranty on it but if you think that it's the only way out of this, please let me know your opinion.
Thanks.
Sounds like a carrier issue to me. You pretty much said exactly that yourself when you said 'There is a spot in my apartment which has very poor network reception of Airtel and I face issues whenever my cell is in that spot for a while'.
That's normal in many buildings. Particularly if the network coverage in your area is borderline or poor. I have a similar issue in my house, in a few rooms I get no bars & sometimes coverage drops out completely, whereas in my loungeroom/dining/kitchen at the back of the house I get good coverage (for me, anyways).
You could try different modems, which might improve things. You don't have to be rooted to flash these, you can flash them using Odin. Tho it is easier to flash them with CWM if you're rooted.
I use to had the same issue with my 3 carrier at my desk in the office, and still on 2g services. I but since last month they already improved to hsdpa network added more bts and now my blank spot became H.
Yes you may try to change other service providers

Thanks for your suggestions guys. Yes, it might be only related to the carrier. But, I think that if signal goes down to zero and then when my cell is back in better coverage zone, shouldn't the modem take care of network registration by itself? My problem is that it doesn't. I have to reboot my cell every time after I come to know that my cell is showing signal bars but is not actually registered on the network. If I reboot my cell, everything becomes normal and so if it was just an issue with the carrier, shouldn't it continue like that even after reboot? If I think about it logically, I think following should help me out:
1. Try out a different cell for a few days and see if I face this issue or not.
2. If answer to 1 is no, then try out different modems on my S2 and see if that helps.
Actually, I just wanted to check if anyone else has faced this issue and figured out that something is not right with S2 drivers or something? That would help me with quick resolution of my problem.

Yep, your logic is sound ;-)
One thing tho. With regard to trying your sim out in another phone, you have to keep in mind the radio hardware is obviously different in different phones. And what that means is (and this is something I've observed on XDA), chances are you'll find the sim works perfectly in the other phone & you have no issues at all. This might be due to the actual equipment your carrier is using in the cell tower(s) you're close to, also the frequencies that gear is using might also be playing a part in your problems.
So definitely try it out in another phone & see what happens, but you could do worse than try out a bunch of modems in the S2 & see if that improves things.

Those are carrier issues, and maybe even the material of the constructions, in my house there are rooms where there's almost no signal at all, and in the living room it's ok, you should try to see in which tower you are connected maybe thats the problem
I have also had these problems on various networks here in Australia. If you don't need the data network, you could try using 2G only option. But that's not really a fix, is it? I suggest you try a pre-paid SIM from another network provider, to test them out first, before re-contracting.
Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

Yes, I was also thinking about it. It could be the combo of cell tower and S2 that are not liking each other that well.. And, if that's the case, I really hope that the issue can be resolved by switching modem drivers. I will have to do some what-ifings to nail this down now.
I like the other suggestion by HotrodHarry on trying out 2G only option - not the best way out but will help me in zeroing down on the cause.

Mobile network signal issue

So almost after 3 weeks of getting the TS I decided to put in my AT&T SIM. I was reluctant to use that tiny bastard screw driver but I did it anyways. I have noticed that the network signal strength of my watch is almost non-existant. It will get cellphone signal at only certain place. With the same sim card on my phone (Nexus 5), I get good cell reception.
How are others doing in this department? How's the cellphone signal? Is there anything I can do to improve the mobile network signal. Currently I am on stock with Loki's security patch.
I am not sure if this is a hardware issue or software issue. I remember someone opening the TS and checking the antenna. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Some information on my TS -
North American 1/8
Stock ROM with Loki's patch.
Ok here is my observation:
I could not get signal inside my office, home and costco
I did get signal once I get out of my office - full signal bars with H+. I made a short trip from office to costco and home and back to office. It was able to get signals when I was driving but in some areas where I used to get 2-3 bars in my phone, TS did not pick at any signal at all. So mobile network signal is working but it is pretty weak compared to my phone.
May be it needs some tune up
i have the same problem, the signal is low and TS really has a hard time to find one,if its lost
can we do something about this ?
I opened mine just to have a look and found one of the connectors lose, took a bit of fiddling to get it back on but my network signal seems as good as my note3.
I don't know why, but after installing this app.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.misonicon.signalbooster3g4g
The signal works perfectly, I didn't believe in this apps but now I don't know what to say
At least it works
Mobile frequency fluctuates on my end too, made sure APN settings are listed exactly like they say here on the forums, maybe I should change to another GSM 3G SIM card?

Verizon LTE data issue - previously strong signal, now can't lock LTE

THE TL;DR
Verizon data in a specific area used to be solid, but now is practically nonexistent. I know it’s not gone entirely though, because I can maintain an LTE signal lock and use it if I exit the affected area, get an LTE signal lock, start the utorrent and begin downloading a [legal] torrent, and then re-enter the affected area. I’ve tested with friends, family and strangers over a series of devices - it’s not just me. Verizon says it’s heavy network usage which seems like BS. Please help.
THE FULL VERSION
THE PROBLEM
About a month ago the Verizon data service in the area that I live/work went from solid to almost nonexistent. The affected area is maybe a 2 to 3 mile circle it seems. I’ve had friends, family, and even strangers verify that it isn’t just me - they’re experiencing the same thing (wide range of devices.) Essentially, I can no longer get LTE in this area, and the 3G and 1x are even spotty (and horribly slow.) Veeery occasionally I will be able to get LTE to lock, but it drops almost immediately. Calling and SMS do not seem to be affected. Outside of this affected area, LTE service in the area seems to be unchanged. I’ve opened multiple tickets with Verizon -- they essentially told me that the network in my particular area is overloaded and this can’t be resolved until they build a new tower that covers the area (obviously that’s not going to happen anytime soon.) Although this might seem plausible, I’ve lived and worked in this exact location for the past 3 years, and only once has something similar happened previously (and I’d know because I’m a power user who doesn’t use a computer, and who uses LTE for internet exclusively.) The previous occurrence was in February this year, and the issue disappeared after about a week.
I do happen to live in a college town, so the network could be under some additional strain with the kids coming back, but I don’t believe admission is up appreciably from previous years, and I don’t know of any new living spaces that were built in the area that’s affected, so it seems that the network shouldn’t any more strained than it has been in previous years.
THE UTORRENT TRICK
If I move outside of the affected area and get an LTE signal lock, open utorrent, start downloading a torrent [legal only,] and then re-enter the affected area, the LTE lock will hold an I’ll be able to get the full LTE speeds almost as if the problem has been resolved. However, if I shut off utorrent, or if I toggle airplane mode while I’m in the affected area, the LTE signal lock is lost, and issue will persist (ie. I’ll only get 3G, 1x, or nothing at all.)
QUESTIONS
Can anyone explain what might be happening and why? Is it really that the network is under heavy load?
Why won’t my phone even find LTE while I’m in the affected area? It’s clearly still available if I can keep an LTE lock using the utorrent trick.
What causes the utorrent trick to work? It almost seems like the trick bypasses the network’s attempts to hide LTE from me in this particular area.
I’m rooted. Is there any way that I can force my phone to find and lock the LTE in the affected area? The 3G and 1x are essential unusable.
If I can’t force my phone to lock the LTE and stay on it, is there some other way to make my phone hold the signal once it has it *besides* using the utorrent trick?
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Weird cell signal issue on AT&T, Gets stuck on "4G" service level

I am having an issue with an AT&T V60 where, as i'm out and about, it drops to the "4G"(non-lte) service level and every single time it does it gets stuck there. I have watched it lose signal entirely in areas where lte or 5g signal exists. The only way to get it back is to either restart the phone or do a network settings reset, it will never, ever fix itself. AT&T already sent me a replacement phone and it behaves identically, so 2 different v60s behaved this way. I like the phone and it works great otherwise. AT&T is sending me a replacement S20 to see if that cures it but I was wondering if anyone on here would have any idea what might be happening?

Need Help, Unlocked S21U losing signal

Guys,
I need some help, I have an S21U (unlocked) from Samsung. Since launch day, I've had no problems with it. I was with Verizon, then had to move to TMo because of coverage at work. I noticed I started losing signal, like dropping completely, showing the no service circle with a slash, which would immediately be followed by full bars. When on a call, the call drops. This happens over and over, making the phone unusable as a phone.
Thinking it was TMo, I switched back to Verizon. Same thing. I've scoured the web, and there are posts out there describing the same issue, but no resolution. So far, I've tried:
-swapping for a new SIM card
-resetting the network settings
-switching carriers
-using app to manually select LTE over 5G (more on that below)
I've read people hard resetting, with no success. Other than selling or return the phone for a carrier-branded device, I don't know what else to do. I think the timing of the problem and my switch to Tmo was coincidental. It SEEMS when the device switches from 5G to LTE I lost all service. But I haven't stared at the screen to be able to confirm that. I've also seen it flipping from LTE to LTE+ to 5G. But when it drop, it drops hard, and I am one of the 6% of people who still need a phone to be a phone.
Any ideas or suggestions? Returning for "service" through Samsung seems like a nightmare, and the local Samsung repair place said all they will do is re-flash the device.
Thanks!
Tmobile is horrible where I am too. I'm a sprint customer and they are steering me to their crap network.
Use routines to set up a button to run 4g lte mode only
5g is very problematic for me and lte works consistently.
I think 5g is still in it's infancy and not worth the extra power usage even when it's a bit faster in good service areas.

Thanks. It's not TMo, I switched back to Verizon, same issue. So it's definitely the phone. I did try and select LTE only, it didn't matter. Same problem.

I'm having same issues. However I've always been on Tmobile but I literally have no service at my home or work so pretty much all day. On top of that the wifi calling hardly works so making calls is useless. It drops right as it starts ringing lol. I'm pretty sure my issue is a tmobile issue.
Clear sim card tool kit data.
