Hi I have, with help from the forum here, managed to get one droid razr set to root permissions, but looking at fastboot mode its still locked.
This was originally given to me by a family account holder, and we have had an argument so I won't be able to get the unlock code from Verizon.
I am now living in europe and would if possible like to use the phone with another carrier (vodafone is big here).
running jellybean.
I have reviewed the 20 odd page thread on this site, regarding a similar phone locked on verizon, but this thread is a real mess - eg 'this thread is not about unlocking the razr, its about getting it working on another carrier in the US' - 'no its not' - 'yes it is' etc.
for a non techie like me that thread is confusing, but appears to sum up as - ' you bought the one motorolla that cannot be unlocked'
If possible, I am just looking for a way to load a pay as you go SIM in europe.
is this correct?
thank you for any thoughts.

Hi
Can a phone that is simlocked to Three (3) network be easily unlocked with the marketplace app? And can it then use any vodaphone, O2, Orange etc sim?
I ask as normally when phones are unlocked they can't be used on the 3 network???
Thanks
I have just bought my SGS2 unlocked with a Three contract. Not sure if they can be unlocked if they are simlocked though.

A Sim Unlocked phone will work on ANY network providing it has been unlocked via IMEI or Unlocked from the factory.A market app might do it but a sim unlock via IMEI is the only 100% fullproof unlock method. From what Ive read market unlock apps can relock again.I dont understand why an unlocked phone cant be used on 3 either.Just pay to have it unlocked via IMEI.If you payed .... how much for your phone??just paya couple a bucks more to be on the safe side.
There is an app for the s2, developed by one of the developers here at xda (can't remember which, sorry!), that unlocks the sim. It scans your phone and generates the same key the mobile phone company would use to unlock your phone, so it works every time. It's free too though it can take hours to find the key. Have a look on the Android market. Think it might be developed by codeworkx or pulsar, I forget.
Edit: it's made by chainfire. sorry chainfire!! It requires root access, do make sure you have that by running a rooted kernel.

Hi
I should of mentioned it was the Samsung Galaxy S2 I wanted to unlock! I had a look on android marketplace at the app and someone mentioned that they unlocked their 3 phone in 10 seconds with the app, so I went ahead and bought the phone off eBay. Is it easy to root the phone?
Unfortunatly the market app for unlocking didnt work on my GSII with Three.
Just said: cant find unlock code.
Handset is rooted.
Anyone knows different metod?

Thats scaring me now! Though it did say some of the newer SG2's might not work with the app, heres what it says :
"!!! IMPORTANT NOTE: On some newer SGS2 devices, it does not work at all. You can try "Galaxy_S Unlock" app from "Helroz", but beware, it's unlock method is much more dangerous !!!"
Oh and another person said that it said "code not found" but on reboot it was unlocked.

Let's be honest, most people use the unlocked bootloaders to install custom roms that can circumvent the software installed on a device to prevent say wireless tethering without paying for a subscription service. This is downright theft of service. Just like it would be illegal to steal cable tv, you are not paying for a service that a company is charging other customers for and using the wireless resources unrestricted.
Verizon has the right to charge for their service and get paid by its users. Yes they are in the business to make money and yes locking the bootloaders protects its interests as well as the interests of the people who honestly pay for the services they use.
Don't fault Verizon for trying to protect its own interests because if you were the CEO of the company and it was your job o talk to the shareholders about what you are doing to protect their interests, that you wouldn't do the same thing.

If Verizon wants to lock the bootloader, why does it affect GSM users? Verizon is USA based company.... Just curios

I thought International/GSM variant of RAZR is bootloader unlocked as posted by Engadget last year... damn....
My GSM XT910, AsianRetail (SEAOP) bootloader is LOCKED, and I did not buy the phone from VZW. The current kernel has bugs, where the clock i drifting, 1-2 seconds/day. Same bug in the last GB 2.3.6 for N1. For N1, I patched the kernel source code, compiled and now, my N1 clock is a accurate as before. I don't care about the ROMs, because, stock ROM is more than enough for me. Just give me chance to load and use my own kernel.
Motorola uses Free and Open Source project in the product. They save millions of USD for software developments, so, why not give something back to us. Give us freedom to choose (kernel/ROMs).
Thank you.

You won't find a cheaper one. Not at the moment though, this is because the phone just got released and very few have access to db like us
I received my code but where do I enter it?
I am trying to use a Straight Talk (AT&T) sim card. With the stock AT&T apn settings the phone won't connect to data. Voice calls work fine.
As a result I decided to buy a sim code. How do I apply the sim code? My phone does not request that I enter it. My hunch is that ST with AT&T is too close for it to trigger the unlock code request entry. Thank you.

Change the APN settings to those of Straight Talk... You might be running off AT&T, but your data is registered with Straight talk. That or you live in an LTE area and AT&T slaps you cuz your not directly with them.

At&t unlock policy
According to this report:
AT&T issues statement on unlocking policy
At&t will unlock it if you are at least sixty days into your account:
“I want to be completely clear that AT&T’s policy is to unlock our customers’ devices if they’ve met the terms of their service agreements and we have the unlock code. It’s a straightforward policy, and we aim to make the unlocking process as easy as possible.”

“As we make clear on our website, if we have the unlock code or can reasonably get it from the manufacturer, AT&T currently will unlock a device for any customer whose account has been active for at least sixty days; whose account is in good standing and has no unpaid balance; and who has fulfilled his or her service agreement commitment. If the conditions are met we will unlock up to five devices per account per year. We will not unlock devices that have been reported lost or stolen.”

Straight Talk SIM on ATT versus Unlocked HTC One
I had no issues setting up the Straight Talk SIM to work on my ATT phone by setting the appropriate APN settings. Both data and ATT 4g service work fine. So what is the advantage of buying an unlocked SIM phone from HTC aside from saving a few dollars? Trying to figure out if there is any point in returning the AT purchased phone for an HTC unlocked ONE

Straight talk doesn't need your att branded phone to be sim unlocked. Same network. Try it on tmobile, than you'll understand why sim unlock is necessary for many, especially when traveling.
I bought mine tonight off-contract. The rep said that after 90 days I could fill out a form and they'll see that I paid cash and most likely carrier unlock it. I only use Straight Talk tho so the phone really doesn't need to be unlocked. I did however unlock and iPhone 5 I had using carrierunlock.net and it worked great. Pretty expensive but it did work. They will sometimes cut the price in half or completely refund you if you make a YouTube video showing how the unlock worked and verify the video with them.

I am wanting to use my phone to start on a straight talk plan. my phone is currently to Verizon. when I plug the identifying information for my phone into the Straight Talk website it tells me that I can use my phone on their plan as long as it is unlcked. Afaik the note 2 is already carried unlocked. Correct me if I am wrong, I thought all samsung phones on jellybean were carrier unlocked. I believe trentsrom is multicarrier aswell.
The note 2 is considered a world phone and it will work for voice and text as soon as you put an active sim in the phone but you must get an apn app from Google play in order to get the data to work a root may be required depending upon if you are running 4.3 be careful when moding because verizon locked the bootloader with the 4.3 update

Hi there,
"I've been trying to unlock a T-Mobile LG G5 that I bought through ebay but nobody seems to be able to.
The unlock app returns that I'm not elegible for unlock.
I tried many third party unlock sites, but apparently my IMEI is not registered at T-Mobile.
I went to many T-Mobile stores, talked to managers, but I even though they all tried helping me unlock, since my device is paid (it shows up in their database as GOOD IMEI) and I'm not american, at the customer support (on the phone) they say they cant unlock my phone because my IMEI is not from their network. Although the phone IS from t-mobile, with t-mobile box, t-mobile rom, and t-mobile apps.
Does someone have any insight in what to do.
I tried even at ebay people that unblock blacklisted IMEIs, but mine just doesn't show up for anybody. I've been refunded for already 4 different unlocking services.
Is it possible my IMEI is really from another network and the device is locked there? Or is T-Mobile screwing something up?
PS: my phone does work with t-mobile, although the manager said I should watch out since my IMEI apparently is from another network, if it gets blacklisted there, I loose t-mobile access also."
This was a post written by a user and i am facing the same issue. As i stay in India so i cant use a T-Mobile network.
If anybody could help me in that would be really appreciated and if any dev comes up with any solution. I will be very glad to help for further development.
The state of device : bootloader has been unlocked and stock rooted.

It has been a month and still does not show on there network. I just talked to a manager and they tried to override the unlock app and still didnt work. Now they say they need 5 business day for app specialist to fix issue.
