[Q] Backing up a game (Arc:Redux) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I am playing this game Arc:Redux on my Note 4 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Psyonix.ArcSquadron&hl=en
I have backed up my phone previously with Titanium (rooted) and when i installed on a new ROM, my backup (the level I was on or on any of my gameplay purchased gear) was not restored. I tried multiple times to get the game back to where I was, even tried restoring my TWRP backup of the original ROM itself. I was not able to restore the data.
The game does have a Google Plus sign in, but that just seems to be for Experience points and not gameplay saving.
I since started fresh on the game and have resisted all new updates to new ROMs because I don't want to lose my current standing in the game.
But now I have a new Samsung Tablet I want to play this game with. I again tried to backup and then restore on the tablet using Titanium. It didnt work. I then tried using DataSync. Still didnt work. I also complained on the game company's forum and Google Play link, and have not received any answer.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Bumpity Bump Bump

Not sure if this will work but I would try connecting the device via usb to your computer copy the game files before doing the update then if you lose your game data replace the game files on with the ones on your computer.

Well, Titanium is doing exactly that. It's backing up the game files and then I am restoring them to the new device. It's not working.

Titanium Backup won't restore my Angry Birds

Ok here is the deal. Until the end of May I had a Samsung Galaxy S but on a trip over to New York it got stolen. I now own my second SGS II (don't ask) and I'm trying to restore my backups of Angry Birds I did on my SGS. But after I put the three files in my "/sdcard/TitaniumBackup" folder I can't choose to restore them in Titanium Backup. Am I doing something wrong here? I really don't wanna play them all over again as I had 3 stars on every available level up to then.
What I can do though is to manually download them all from Android Market, do a backup and exchange the backup files to my original ones. Then restore. I get all my scores back but when I then update my Angry Birds all the scores are reset to zero.
Anyone know of a solution? Or could someone send me a set of backups that works?
I'm bumping this thread.
No one?
Just check if usb debugging is on. I had this same issue and Ti wouldn't allow me to restore until USB debugging was on.
Leave the files in "/sdcard/TitaniumBackup" . Then uninstall titanium backup and install it again.
I had a similair issue and this way it found my backups again.

[Q] How do I update app data from one device to another?

I have an HP touchpad with CM9 and a HTC One S running the latest Energry ROM. I want to know if there is a way I can, for example, play robo defense on my phone on the go and when I get home toss some files into my touchpad, continue my progress and vice versa. Basically updating app data from one device to another.

You could use titanium backup to backup the app data (from the device with the latest saved progress), send the file over to the next device (via Bluetooth, etc), place it in the Titanium backup folder on your SD, then restore the app data and continue from where you left off. For certain games which store their save files on the SD card (e.g. GTA III), simply copy and send the save file over to the next device and place it in the specified path.
Thanks for the prompt reply, I will give this a try and let you guys know if the titanium backup method is successful.
I tossed the app data back up files from the titanium back up folder on my touchpad into the same folder on my phone and restored the app data for wheres my water and robo defense, perfect results. Thank you very much

[Q] Bard's Tale/Six Guns/etc Rom Flashing?

For those of you who flash roms regularly like myself, is there a way to not have to download these large game files every new rom flash? When i installed Bard's Tale i downloaded the HD version (around 3gb) and chose the option to install to SD Card thinking ok obviously this will download to SD card so when i flash a new rom i won't have to download all this again? Well wrong, flashed a new rom, restored via TWRP Data backup, still have to download Bard's Tale from scratch again. Obviously also doesn't save my game data!
Anyway to get around this and actually SAVE these games to SD Card so when i flash a new rom i don't have to download the game from scratch again?
I thought doing a data backup via TWRP and restore would also restore this type of stuff? Does it only restore the game saved data such as my progress in the game for mobile games with this kind of backup?
Might, maybe, you better off doing back-up for that while being booted into OS, with something like TitaniumBackup or MBP???
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
I had the same issue you mentioned when doing a rom flash with TWRP backup that I restored via Titanium Backup.
The games in question were "pinball arcade" and "Zen Pinball", so thankfully the data was only 500mb or so.
One way to get around this issue is to backup the data on your computer, however, that is not very convenient or fast.
The other way you *might* be able to get around this is by changing the names of the folders that the game data is in. I think the TWRP backup overwrites it for some reason because other data on my SDcard is still there after a rom flash & wipe.
So my theory is that by just changing the folder name or even moving the folder to a different area, you might be able to just copy it back to its proper location after you have flashed and restored your TWRP backup.
Sadly, I've not gotten around to actually testing this theory out myself, but, when I do I'll make sure to update everyone. Probably won't be until a new version of the Elegancia Rom comes out and I have to update, lol.

Back up need for speed most wanted game on android phone

if you have plan to flash rom or restore factory data on phone and want to keep your nfs mw current track, you just need copy saved game data and restore after install game, this' method:
your phone need rooted for access system files by es file explorer or root explorer app, then go to '/data/data' folder, copy "com.ea.games.nfs13_na" folder and 4 files: mNFS.db, mNFS.db-journal, mNFSStatus.db, mNFSStatus.db-journal (or simple make a search 'nfs' and copy all, i don't know exactly which files game need but that' all fine for me). done. after install new game, open and play the first race, exit then you just need copy back all files and folder.
p.s. btw, anyone know how to play without internet connection?! (game need internet connection for check update when it' start)

With the newest updates of need for speed most wanted, it looks like ea has patched it so it wont work with any back up app and if you try it then the restore bricks the game and you have to download it all over again.

I can confirm this, I'm trying to restore from "Backup & restore" (a backup app from Sony) and Helium, both with the same result. I've contacted EA support, if I get a solution I'll post it here.

Hi,
Have you received any update to backup from EA support
None, as if they don't exist. I have already let go of this and deleted the backup (it was about 2 GB).
Finally found something that worked on another thread here in xdadevelopers
I know this is an old thread, but for anyone who wants the answer thought I'd post the link above.
Here is the jist and I take no credit, credit is due to the poster in the thread linked above
Installed NFS Most Wanted (Including the 600+ MB download) and play the first 2 compulsory rounds...
Run NFS Most Wanted and leave it running
Navigate to your Titanium Backup for com.ea.games.nfs13_na and open the .gz
Cut the file 'nfstr_save.sb' from /data/data/com.ea.games.nfs13_na/files/var/ and save in a different location...
While its running Paste the file 'nfstr_save.sb' back in /data/data/com.ea.games.nfs13_na/files/var/ on your phone
(the game would have already re-written another copy of the file by now which you must overwrite)
close the game and start back up and BAM your save is there
Been searching for HOURS for how to restore my NFS Most Wanted save on my new phone, this is one of the first google posts that come up so posting it here.

Plants vs Zombies backup

Is there any way to backup plants vs zombies(the first one, not the sequel)?
I tried with titanium backup and I manually backed up the folder com.popcap.pvz from both /data/data and /sdcard/Android/data.
With these methods the game crashes or asks me to create a new profile(which means it doesn't recognise the savegames).
Is there any way to securely back it up?
I'm on a nexus 7(2012), stock android 4.4.2
Sorry for old bump but I have this issue also, it is the only game that does not want to backup with error. I tried backing normally or installing the app and restoring the data but both still lead to fc. I flash alot so I cannot keep the progress for the game which is annoying...
