[Q] Random Reboots? Bad battery? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

So out of the blue my VZW S4 started randomly rebooting the other day... nothing had changed on it. I decided to try wiping and installing a new OS... still no dice. Doesn't seem to be tied to anything specific. Could the battery be dying? Thoughts? Thanks!

It is also just freezing solid... basically it just shuts off to a black screen requiring battery pulls... sometimes it just dies immediately after the samsung logo.

There is a know issue System Server Crash on the kk builds of Verizon Galaxy S4s. Check in, do some reading, see if your problem is similar. Wanam has some fixes for Xposed Framework if that's the case.

Turns out the power button was sticking... Apparently other people have had this issue. I got it free again... but it may need to be replaced if it keeps happening.

[Q] Complete Crash and Lock Up while sleeping?

I am on Sprint and an running the latest update plus root. I have noticed that my S3 occasionally looks up while asleep and will not want up. It will not even reboot itself on its own. My power button is totally unresponsive.
I have no other problems with my phone at all.
Should I try to return the phone or should I just wait for a big fix?
EDIT: it looks like it happened again in two hours.

Vibrant keeps rebooting?

Well apparently, after flashing the latest AOKP for my phone, it keeps on rebooting itself at random time, and at other times, doesent boot at all. When I put it on charge, it shows the battery for a few seconds. I am unable to get in to recovery as it basically reboots there as well. In Download mode, I restored stock 2.1 FW and bootloaders carefully, but nothing, its still giving me an issue? Any advice, might just move on to the Galaxy Nexus
Did you do any flagrant battery pulls lately? Maybe check the contacts or that the battery fits snugly. Doubt that flashing caused it, but maybe something with the kernel power source.
I got it to boot into stock recovery, but after that nothing. Is there a way to fix it, i even tried a replacement battery but no cigar. Phone has plenty of potential.

My VZW V10 keeps rebooting at random times.

Starting last night my 3 day old V10 has begun rebooting itself randomly. It happens when I text, look at images in the gallery, reading Facebook or Reddit, taking pictures.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? What could be the cause of it? And how do I stop it from happening?

I'm looking at the V10 for a upgrade from Verizon now that I'm off contract. Haven't seen this discussed as a V10 issue from my research. My current phone has a removable battery that started randomly rebooting. Maybe the battery is not seated properly. Try shutting it off, take off the back cover, pull and re-seat the battery after checking the contacts.
I'd take that badboy back to the VZ store for an exchange
Try uninstalling any sketchy apps then do a factory reset.
Take it back, get a replacement
Hey what did you do to resolve this? I have the same issue
also maybe it was just me but i noticed it when i was charging my phone. On a side note have you noticed when charging the phone and the screen off, the second screen maybe every 25 seconds blinks for a split second?
I am also having the same problem. I just got off the phone with LG product support. The lady I talked to said she had not had any calls regarding this issue yet. She recommended putting the phone in safe mode to see if its a downloaded app that is causing it or if that does not work to do a factory reset on the phone. She really didn't have any idea though. I don't think the safe mode approach will be any help but i might try a factory reset.
Factory reset doesnt work either it still reboots on its on. Mine is off and cant come back on

Galaxy S4 Verizon i545 Reboots Randomly when not on charging

Hi,
I have a galaxy s4 SCH-i545 . The phone reboots randomly (sometimes immediately after boot, sometimes after 5 minutes of usage sometime even more )when I use it if it is NOT on charging. However while on charging the phone does not reboot. My friend also has a s4, I used his battery just to see if it is a battery issue but it reboots even with his battery. I had kitkat and I upgraded to lollipop but issue stays the same. I have no issue with power button as suggested in many threads here.
What could be the issue? What can be done?

My first thought was the battery (until you mentioned you tried another), I had a bad one that caused the same issue.
First try:
Hard reset, hold power button down until it shuts off. Turn it back on and see if it still restarts.
Next try going into stock recovery and clearing cache, see if it helps.
Last try a master reset, if it's software based this would correct it.
If nothing above works it might be a hardware issue, if you have Verizon and are paying for insurance they will replace it for free. I just got a new S4 form VZW for free and I didn't even buy my first S4 from Verizon.

Random Shutoffs and a Single click of the Power button shuts off

So I have a galaxy s3 running Cyanogenmod 12.1 rooted and recently its just been randomly shutting off. It works fine for a bit then just shuts off out of nowhere. Also, whenever I only click the power button it shows the power off, reset, etc. popup then just shuts off before I can even cancel it. This does it sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. After it shuts off and I try to boot it, it goes to the boot screen and just shuts off again. It takes a bunch of tries just to get it up and running again, only to randomly shut off again. I actually only rooted it recently and soon after these problems started showing up, so it may be a software issue.
Have you replaced your battery with a non-original one? I had the same problem with one from Anker. After using again my older original samsung battery the problem has gone.
but maybe your power button could be broken.
you could also try if the problem appears on stock ROM flashed by odin

Ah I have not replaced the battery. I have heard that a common issue was a broken power button so I'll go check that out. This has happened right after I rooted the phone so I'll try to see it if is a software issue first
