Hi guys,
I didn't want to post here, but it is my last resort.. i am curently trying to get my htc evo 3d gsm to s-off, but with no success. the last solution i tried seemd to work to some point, but i don't know what happened and it didn't set my evo on s-off, although it said so. it relocked it, but i managed to re-unlock it after several atempts. I want to do that wire trick, but my hboot version is 1.53.0007 and i cannot find a working tutorial. unless i try to downgrade my hboot, i don't see any other solution. Tried a couple of times to downgrade, but failed. can anyone help me?

there's isn't much to say, use wiretrick, it works with hboot 1.53, you'll gain s-off, then you'll have to downgrade hboot to 1.49, you just need to be patient and try again and again. else there's another procedure that let you load an older ruu (downgrade) by bricking the phone in a certain way!

I have an Evo 3d with HBOOT 1.5 and S-OFF. I want to get to 1.4 S-OFF but I can't find how I can set S-OFF back to S-ON, so I can proceed with the downgrade instructions located here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547695
Search and google are not helping too much as there is too much noise talking about getting to s-off and not trying to get to s-on.
Can you please point me toward a solution to change from HBOOT 1.5 S-OFF to HBOOT 1.5 S-ON?
Thank you.

You can brick your device!
Forgive my ignorance, but if you are s-off, why would you want to do this? I thought 1.5 s-off was just as good as1.4 s-off.
Sent from my PG86100
When set at 1.5 you cant change the splash screen or radio. or other settings.
Also Bricking it is what I need to do to convert it to 1.4 BUT I cant to that until I have S-ON. Correct?
You are s-off so no need to brick, just download this copy it to sd card and flash via bootloader.
Also I could be mistaken, but I believe hboot 1.5 is perfectly ok as long as you are S-off, I am pretty sure you can flash whatever you want.
BTW the download link is taken from OP in this thread, you might want to read through it.

^Exactly this. If you read the first post of that thread (especially the gigantic red letters and what is under that), it will tell you to NOT brick an S-off phone as it will permanently brick it. You just need to flash the 1.4 bootloader.

i had the same problem as OP. i think the issue with 1.5 is even though its s-off, the bootloader is still locked and therefore a recovery cant be flashed and root cant be gained.
Ive been looking for the standalone hboot 1.4 ruu so i didnt have to do what op originally suggested
You have all of my thanks

Ya I didn't even think about revolutionary only working with 1.4 or below that must be the problem. You are welcome for the help, I just figured most of this out about a week ago when I had to do the downgrade after unlocking with htc method.
I would fastboot oem lock then do HTC's unlock again.

You have to HTC Unlock the device first, then do the fastboot oem lock (if you don't it will say "Device was already locked!" message)

If you are S-OFF you can flash any bootloader you want...no need to go back to S-on....I found a few bootloader versions on here and flashed them back and forth when trying different roms.....once your S-OFF you should never return...lol
I was thinking of taking it to Sprint for a replacement cuz of 4G not working, but then I thought, WHEN ON EARTH do I use 4G??? LOL It's always off...
So I was trying to root my CDMA EVO 3d earlier and failed. It kept sticking on the sprint loading screen no matter what rom I flashed to it. I unlocked the bootloader through HTCDev. I then loaded the teamwin recovery and tried to flash a rom through that. I'm guessing I missed a few steps (first time messing with a droid) and locked it up. Now I got it relocked and tried to load the:
RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.3_Radio_0.97.10.0808_NV_SPCS_1.31_003_release_219445_signed.zip
but it was the wrong version appearently and I'm out of ideas as I've been working on this all day long. I just want to be able to use my phone again but if I could obtain a full root in the process that would be nice! I hope someone here can help because you guys are my last hope! I've done lots of reading and searching but nothing that has really explained my situation. Thanks in advance for any help!
Specs:
RELOCKED
shooter xc ship s-on rl
hboot 1.58.0000
radio 1.09.00.0706
OpenADSP v02.6.0.226.00.0217
eMMc-boot
Did you try the 2.17 one?
Save the Drama for your Mama with Tapatalk 2
Yes I did try that one along with the newt rom, mikrom and a few others to no avail. :crying: I'm at a loss, I loaded the teamwin recovery back on, every time I flash a rom it gets stuck on the loading screen and never fully boots.
I just read that apparently, none of the old ruu work in the new hboot if s-on. I recommend you get s-off.
Edit: Not sure if that'strue as I've heard conflicting information.
Save the Drama for your Mama with Tapatalk 2
Okay I'll try that next, thanks for the input!
I tried getting s-off by the Live CD method, booted it from a flash drive, locked it back up and when I went to brick it, it said the ruu was the wrong version. I used the version listed in the guide so I'm not too sure which version I need.
So I was told there is nothing that supports hboot 1.58? Is this correct? Can anyone confirm this? Guess I just have to wait for someone to put something together that supports it?
Fixed thanks to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813818&highlight=hboot+1+58
Howdy,
I'm trying to get S-OFF on my Sprint Evo 3D so I can install this ROM. The documentation says that I need HBOOT 1.58 and S-OFF.
I was trying to following the directions from this thread here.
Originally, I had unlocked using the HTC Dev Unlock method, so I used the relock tool. After that my bootloader said "Relocked" and "Security Warning". I moved to the next step -- pseudo-bricking the phone by corrupting the HBOOT update process. However, nothing I do will get the phone to brick. I've tried about 10 different times (varying the wait time before I pull the power each time) and I never get it to brick. Here are all of my relevant settings and files that I'm using.
Current HBOOT banner: "Relocked" (Security Warning disappeared at some point)
HBOOT ver: 1.50
S-ON
RUU I'm using to corrupt HBOOT: 2.17 from here
If anyone can help me get this sorted out I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Why would you brick.the.phone? Just get unlocked + root and do the wiretrick by juopunotbear, takes 5 minutes.

I've got a guide here that can help you get a rooted and S-OFF configuration for a Sprint Evo 3D pretty easily.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot when I get back from class. Just to be clear, if I use this method will I eventually be able to end up on HBOOT 1.58 so that I can use ROMs with the 2.89 kernel? I have only just skimmed over your post before class so if that question is answered in there then nvm!
Once s-off, you can flash any hboot you want.
sudo passwd root
Worked like a champ! Thanks so much.
I know you are fairly new here, but as a future reference. It is common courtesy to hit the thank you button if somebody helps you. Ramjet's guide is the easist and quickest way for sprint users to gain s-off on the new ics firmware and hboot.
I have a One that currently has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. The hboot is version 1.57. I've been trying to get the s-off for a while now but I'm not having any luck. I tried downgrading to different roms but I don't think that was the answer. I'm guessing it's because of my hboot version. Is there anyway to downgrad my hboot without already having the s-off? I've been doing a lot of research but I can't find anything that applies to the T-Mobile version and in my specific situation. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with this or let me know that it is totally impossible to do right now. I've been working on this for days but I'm determined haha

If you are unable to get S-OFF through firewater then you will not be able to get it. You can not downgrade your hboot without being S-OFF. I would read through the [Guide] Firewater S-Off the first page of the thread and probably the last ten or so pages to get a feel on which setup is working.

I am probably a few days in front of you, or less determined, as I have given up on the S-Off on 1.57 for now. The SunShine dev team sound like they are working on it (though there is some argument about that in a couple of threads), and I was getting the 6 error with revone which is supposed to indicate keep going and it will happen eventually but I gave up on that after 3 hours or reboots and retrys.
If you have success can you let me know how you got there?

Revone works on hboot 1.4X and will not work on 1.57! Firewater currently is the only way to get S-OFF with a hboot 1.57. Fortunately, I got S-OFF back when my hboot was 1.45.

Unbelievable!!! Over the past 7 or so days I have tried, Firewater, revone, rumrunner, SunShine and I even had a chop at moonshine, with many, many goes with the first three.
After your response, I was going to let you know that Firewater doesn't appear to work either (at least for me), but I decided to have one more crack, and first time it failed (someone had pissed in it),rebooted and tried again, and BOOM S-OFF!!!! :victory:
Hello guys, i have a problem, i can't get s-off, i tried rumrunner, firewater ... everything and still nothing. I have hboot 1.54. I have read and tryed anything i found on this forum ... still no luck. Can someone help me?

Try Sunshine but it will cost you $25. You only have to pay if it will succeed in getting you S-OFF.
I bit the bullet and paid 25 for sunshine worked on my m7 and m8
