For those of you who may not own a DNA yet, at this time Verizon has mixed stock of older DNA's mixed in with those that have been updated to the current, unlockable system version. To save yourself some trouble until the OTA get's cracked, I am going to show you how to identify quick which version is on the device you are purchasing. This may afford you the opportunity to ask the salesperson to check for an older device. Just remember that as soon as you power it on, it's going to be looking to update. I advise you to come right back here and get your phone unlocked and rooted before it won't allow you to postpone the update any longer.

As you can see circled on the box, without even turning on the device, we can see if the device you're buying shipped with the OTA. If you see the 1.15.605.4, you can let them activate that and then get it home, get it set up and get yourself protected before it updates.

What are you going to do? Wait for a new method?
I posted in the other thread, but I bought one off Craigslist a couple weeks ago with 2.04 installed. I lost my patience this morning and bought one off Swappa that is already rooted and S-Off'd. I will post mine up and try to get the same money, which I should be able to get.
I shouldn't be out any money and if so, just a little bit. It just takes some time obviously.
Did the same thing wiseguy. Funny thing is I was going to buy the same one from Kenyatta on swappa but I bought one for a bit more as it had a wireless charging pad. He took too long to respond about wether the phone was S-Off or not.

I'm gonna hang in there unless I can score a pre-ota device with a smashed screen or hurt real good. I'm not afraid to swap motherboards if needed.

Hi all, I have one hour to decide whether to buy One or not, but t-mobile locked version only. I need to know what's the latest version that t-mobile One has, 1.26? 1.27?
thanks

In the US, 1.27, afaik. That's what's on mine. I don't think anyone in the US has 1.29, though that's what's now available in some parts of the world.
Thanks. So, you believe 1.29 could come soon on worldwide T-Mobile One too?

1.29 is currently available in some countries. There are links here, or at least in the vanilla HTC One forum for RUUs available for 1.29 now, though what their compatibility is with the T-Mobile version of the phone is, I'm not sure.
Coming at it from a different angle, custom ROMs for the One can have Android 4.2.2 right now, but that means giving up Sense, if that matters to you.
I wouldn't want to root it right now, thanks for the info.
Of course I have to be out of luck.
At 8PM I entered T-mobile and asked a lady if they have HTC One, she said "Yes we do, LTE version.", I said "great", of course. Since they work till 9PM, I wanted to ask the above mentioned question here, before deciding whether to buy it or not.
Finally, about 8:45PM I decide to buy it. Headed straight to T-mobile again, said I wanted to renew my subscription and buy the HTC One. She brings me HTC One SV. After a few attempts to explain her the difference, she said "ahhh, that One! We don't have it, it didn't arrive yet and we don't know when will we get it!".
Turned around and headed home.
Good work HTC
What should I expect when I get it back? Unlock. S-Off, nd root still possible?

bump with added question, not an intentional hijack... Who was your insurance? Do you know what replacement device you'll get?
I didn't use the insurance, just called HTC and they scheduled a repair. I paid nothing out of pocket not even to ship it to them.
T-Mobile HTC One
I got back my same device.

Not really. I know the camera sucks already. M8 isn't much better. Hopefully they learn their lesson with the m9. I always like my m7 better than my m8. Not a fan of the on screen buttons. I am praying they bring back the capacitive buttons, if not, i'll stick with this m7 for a while.

Mine was new too. Btw, you could have just s-off'd 1.44 without even flashing a rom and rumrunner will work on stock rom too but glad you got it going. I have flashable 5.12.502.2 at&t firmware if you need it. Twrp 2.8.3.0 is out now too

I'm pretty much finished with everything. It's on 6.07.1540.2 Developers Edition Now, Just waiting on the Lollipop to Drop
stock rom
Hello,
Is someone here that stayed with the stock rom ? I just got mine from best but and I barely managed to update it to 4.4.2. sense 5.5 and for that I needed a working at&t sim card in it, without it it would say "software is up to date", really stupid :|
Now it says that it's up to date and no sense 6 so far.
I was wondering if there is someone who has stayed with the stock rom and if he or she has managed to get the sense 6 update ?
Thanks

You can get the OTA to update to sense 6. I would highly recommend you boot loader unlock and soff first but that is up to you.

I agree ...stop the updates while you have hboot 1.55 and use rumrunner to s-off
after that you can install as many updates as you want yourself (without AT&T)

Just saw this deal and had a quick question.
Would I be able to use the AT&T M7 on TMobile after s-off and sim unlock? Probably a stupid question since I'm 99% certain that's correct, but I'd rather not shell out 200 bucks unless I know for certain that there isn't some weird AT&T incompatibility that would prevent full functionality on Tmo.

If you get it sim unlocked, then yes it would work fine. The at&t model is the same model as the developer edition just sim locked. It has all the same bands.

Depends on your location, Where I am any AT&T phone will work on T-Mobile but you never get 4g or LTE
T-Mobile phone use an AWS band that is not on the AT&T version of the One. It would be worth testing before you shell out the money

@HampTheToker
I believe the DevEd and AT&T variants are pretty much the same, they share the same MID. If that is the case, I have a DevEd running on T-Mobile and I'm getting 4G and LTE without an issue. And with the right configuration I'm also getting T-Mobile's Wi-Fi Calling.

Price Dropped to $149 Today 2/3/15
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/htc-one...D=1&siteID=Es5Ekr9eEBk-e6LWwjV3qXFDs3JXl2X3iw
Bought one of these at $149.99 from Best Buy's online deal. Get it in and find the camera module has the worst purple tint I've ever seen on this phone. Since it's within the 14days it's going back to BB.
I have an AT&T HTC One M8 that I've rooted and unlocked but still need to s-off. What is the best/easiest way to accomplish this without bricking the phone? I am no longer in an AT&T coverage area and want to activate my phone with my local carrier. I got the sim unlock code from AT&T but can't get it to work, so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Sunshine is the only working s-off method at this time.
Its easy and safe, from my understanding. But it costs $25.
