[Q] Network settings reset after reboot - Asus Padfone X and S

Hi,
I have a PadFone X phone, rooted using towelroot, stock ROM.
I have set my network settings to be 2G only, but everytime I reboot, the settings reset to the auto option. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? It's very annoying to change this setting every time I reboot.

[Q] com.android.phone problem

I'm running Revamped SS (1.8.19) on my vibrant and I'm having a weird force close issue. I get a com.android.phone error about every 2 or 3 seconds unless I'm in airplane mode. When I'm not in airplane mode I still can't get any cell reception. I can't even access the mobile networks option in the settings. I tried taking the SIM out and still it's the same. I've tried rebooting, clearing all caches, removing task killers, flashed a different modem, and even reflashed my entire ROM, doing a system format. I've also wiped dalvik cache and fixed permissions. Please send me any suggestions. I need my phone to be working and this is extremely frustrating..
i think you'll have to do a factory wipe/reset inside CWM. also, don't use the 2g/3g toggle widget, as the FC on android phone will happen. (known issue)

New APN error: process com.android.settings

More info
After change CSC to any other ( code 272 ) and reboot 3g started and no problem with add new APN. After next reboot error return back and no 3g
Hi Filant,
I was having same problem. Getting error on clicking on ADD apn. Would loose APN everytime I switch phone off, and be unable to add APN !! Only solution was a factory reset and not switching phone off...
Phone is galaxy s2. Problem started on updating firmware to 2.3.4.
The solution I found is to go into applications and find app simtoolkit. Force stop this and then go back into your APN settings and it should work. You may need to turn data - Use Packet Data on and off, and possibly manually select the network operator. Have lost track of exactly how these were set.
I guess my problem is that I have a very old SIM card (8yrs plus).
Hope this works for you as well - it was driving me crazy

APN error: process com.android.settings force close
Hi Tino, Hi Filant, I have started to face the same problem (APN error / completely lost 3G data) right after upgrading from 2.3.4. to firmware 2.3.5, the information mentioned on Tino's post was really very helpful, I think i'm half way there to solve the problem.
although I restored my phone to factory settings (that was before reading the post), same problem occurred after the first reboot. the question now, do i have to contact my network operator and change the SIM card as i think it is also quite old, will this help in solving the problem, i'm really bothered, i was having hell of problems with S1 and now hard times with S2, gonna lose my mind, and i would like to know what you have done both to overcome this issue
Apn error
Hi all, I've changed the old SIM card, and I'm no more facing this problem no matter if I restarted the phone or even removed the SIM and put it back. It's all OK now
I'm having this same problem. I can go to mobile networks and when i click on apn it force closes.. It opens up the apn window. (nothing is shown) and after like 3 seconds i get this message - "The application settings (process com.android.setttings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I'm using the samsung rugby smart phone. Unrooted. COMPLETELY STOCK running 2.3.6.. Baseband version I847UCLA4.. Kernal version 2.6.35.7 ... Build number GINGERBREAD.UCLA4... I put it in airplane mode then turn it off. I turn data on then off. I reset phone. I've hard reset. The phone shows the mobile data connection up top (E, 4G, 3G) it shows that and the arrows light up as if its processing but I try to access the web and will not work. Even the apn apps on the play store don't even work. They force close or don't even work. Please help me!!

After offical Kies 2.3.5 update, my Wifi Hotspot settings no longer save

Hello all,
I'm on three uk and updated to 2.3.5 via Kies yesterday. All fine, a definite improvement to 2.3.4.
But there is a problem, when i go to portable hotspot settings the Network SSID has been reset as 'AndroidAP' and the password is something random.
I can change it, but it doesn't stick. Sometimes it will persist for that 'session' but after i close and exit the hotspot configuration it will get reset back to AndroidAP.
I've noticed a few other people have this problem, it seems to be caused by the permissions getting messed up on the /data/misc/wifi/softap.conf file (as seen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301996).
what i want to know, is there *any* way i can reset the permissions on this file or fix this problem without performing a factory reset or by rooting my phone? the feature still works, but it's really, really, annoying as i use it quite a lot.
is there any way i access this file via the sdk or in debug mode without rooting my phone?
please help!

Firstly take a backup of all your messages, contacts and apps and do a factory reset.
If the problem Persists Do a system wipe by Entering the recovery And then flash the stock rom.
Take a backup of your rom before you do so.

Turning on Wifi Hotspot Only Allows Data for Hotspot

Hi there,
I have KIW-L24 and whenever I enable the hotspot, the device connected to it can use data just fine; but when I try to use anything for data on my device, I get nothing. I checked all the settings and everything seems where it should be. I even went as far as resetting the Network Settings and restoring the defaults to no avail.
I'm on Marshmallow 6.0.1
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Try a factory reset and uninstall if u installed any vpn apps
