Has anyone modified the boot animation for stock ND7/Android 4.4.2 in order to remove the Verizon logo (so that the boot animation shows only the Samsung splash)? I know that this has been done for the 4.3 boot animation, but I can't find a modified version of the 4.4.2 one anywhere (the Samsung splash is different for each).
I'm ashamed to say how much time I've spent looking for this. I've searched throughout xda and Google and haven't found any luck. I've downloaded a few s5 boot animations as well as 3 roms for the international Note II, hoping to find the right ones, but they haven't been correct unfortunately. I've even tried using a couple qmg to png hacks in order to cut out the Verizon logo myself, but I haven't been able to get them to work right.
So this is my last resort. Has anyone happened to stumble upon this or know of an easier way for me to extract it?
EDIT
Found it.

Originally a tmobile G2 which i rooted because i got bored of waiting for them to release the update to 2.1 straight from htc.
I run launcher pro over the top of sense and all i want to know is, is it possible to have a custom boot animation. I no that it is possible with a custom rom but dont really want to do that am happy with the way it is.
ive tried adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
but all that happens is it pushes the files over but the boot animation hasnt changed
So you're still on 1.5?
You need to find the current boot animation on the system partition and replace that. There are usually two locations and these are usually referenced in bootanimation topics.
Has anyone converted this to a bootanimation.zip?
I'd like to go back to the stock animation, but can't seem to find one that isn't in Samsung proprietary format.
edit: will these work with Vibrant? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863063
I've been reading through the XDA forums for days on various splash screen solutions. So far, not one of them will work on the P509 Optimus T.
When the P509 is powered up, you get 3 startup images.
#1 - LG Logo - SPLASH.IMG file
#2 - Animated T-Mobile "Stick Together" magenta/white splash screen (THIS MUST DIE)
#3 - Android boot animation (located in /system/bin/bootanimation in t-mobile 2.2.2 V10S firmware)
I am aware of the bootanimation.zip in /system/media/. This is NOT the issue I am referring to, and does not apply to my desired results.
Again - I have read nearly ALL of the other threads on this problem - they do not apply. There is NO fastboot or hboot menu option on this phone like the HTC or samsung, and as far as i can tell there is no "Splash1" partition either.
What I am trying to do is replace the animated T-Mobile splash screen with my own.
I know the boot animation is most likely the initlogo.rle file, or related to it. It gets dropped into the root of the phone at boot and disappears every time the phone is turned off. If I try and manually place my own there, it gets overwritten.
I'm assuming it hides in the boot.img file in the firmware somewhere. What I -DONT- know is how do I rip that damned file apart, replace the animation with my own, and then put it back together again. I have seen a LOT of people ask on various forums about the various LG Optimus models; and they have all been pointed to information that does not apply to these phones.
I know that many other firmware developers have embedded their own splash image in their roms and this will over-write the T-mobile magenta monstrosity. Unfortunately, I have ZERO need or intent on flashing a new ROM. I am happy with my stripped and tweaked stock rom and franco kernel.
Oddly, the SPLASH.IMG file is a RED lg logo, but it's hidden by a Silver LG logo that I assume is hardcoded into the phone somewhere, so the only time you see it is on boot to CWM recovery for 1/2 second or less.
I have managed to decompile my stock KDZ firmware file, and then decrypt the resulting DZ file down to the *.mbn files and the Boot.img, recovery.img, and splash.img files if they are useable for anyone interested in screwing with an old 2.2.2 stock. >.<
Is there anyone that CAN do this, or at least help me figure out how to go about doing it myself?
There is a post on this. U have to recompile the boot.img I thinl

As far as I know, changing the the splash screen can not be changed or altered in any form but I'm sure it can be done, unfortunately there isn't much talk about that sort of thing, give me a few days and I'll look into it, I gotta do research

Download the kitchen, put your ROM in the right folder, go to advanced tools in the kitchen, choose extract boot.img
There is a post about this by ciaox / Bytecode
Good luck
I was unable to find the ciaox/Bytecode post.
But the splash screen and sound bothered me,
so some exploring lead to the following ...
You can replace the annoying jingle:
/system/sounds/lgeSounds/Startup.mp3
The T-Mobile "Stick Together" screen are the 8 open*.rle files in /bootimages
You can use pratyush.creed's boot logo editor to generate replacement files

(sorry, not allowed to post links yet)
For the shutdown splash and sound, you will need to decompile,
replace the images and sounds then rebuild /system/app/PowerOff.apk
Cheers.
me too having the same problem...

Somehow I can't get the search options in this forum, so I went all the way to the 18th page to check if someone already posted this, but couldn't find a thing.
I'm new to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and I installed a new ROM last night just to check how things are around here. So I tried Overcome, and I hated their boot logo. I'm telling you, the only reason I restored back to the original ROM is that I really missed that amazing Samsung logo animation. But it makes no sense to stick to the original thing just because the boot animation, so I was wondering if anyone has a flashable .zip containing the original boot animation. Would be awesome.
Thank you.

Hey there... did you give this a try?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061541
Somewhat savvy somewhat still a noob to root stuff.
I rooted my S4 (from ME7) recently and have been enjoying some root apps. I bought the pro version of ROM Toolbox. I love the app but for some reason I can't get custom fonts to work as well as custom boot animations. I tried installing a few different fonts and then rebooting and no luck. They don't show up in the font list either under Display>Fonts in android settings. Then with the custom boot animations I installed the Alex Grey animation, reboot, no luck. Then i tried "Disable the boot animation>Remove all boot animations" and then rebooted and still no luck.
I'm kinda confused, am I doing something wrong?

If you're running me7 then you won't be able to touch the custom boot screen. A rooted phone is different from an unlocked bootloader. There are a lot of things that can't be changed with your S4 until an unlock is found since Verizon locked it down so nicely (Note the intense sarcasm). As far as the fonts go, I was able to change the font to Zekton for all Internet browsers, but further changes caused me to send my phone into a bootloop (soft-brick). Basically, don't try to customize or flash anything on your phone until an unlock is found. I would suggest using the root permissions to utilize Titanium Backup and back up everything.

Samsung uses flipfonts. ROM toolbox's are not flipfonts.
Samsung uses a .qmg as their bootanimation instead of bootanimation.zip
Basically they aren't compatible at all
