Are you sending it in for warranty? What I would probably do is make sure I was on stock HBOOT. LOCK then S-ON. Then run the latest RUU.

You don't have to be s-on to accept OTAs... All you need is stock rom and stock recovery. So really all you have to do is flash a stock rom and just flash the stock recovery. If you wan't to go all out you can just flash the latest RUU.

Alright. Well that error is because it cant find the .zip file usually. Make sure it in same directory as fastboot..
But go flash the stock odex rom using twrp. then flash the firmware file and you'll be stock and able to take ota's

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712459690. Once you flash the firmware it will flash the stock recovery. Make sure you are flashing the latest firmware.. http://flyhalf205.com/roms/t6vzw/3.09.605.2_firmware.zip
Is there another link to the Rom or different one altogather maybe a little older I can just its update to newest. I tried three different mirrors and it makes it to about 54 percent before it slows down to nothing.

I unlocked my rezound and rooted it, but I'm on stock rom. I'm going to revert back to stock recovery in preparation for OTA.
Is there a guide on how to do it?
Do I need to lock bootloader before flashing stock recovery back?
I would hope hasoon2000 would add flashing stock recovery to his all-in-one toolkit.
Thanks
ps. I can't post in development yet. So i'm posting here in general.
You can pull the stock recovery out of an RUU and replace the recovery image in a amon recovery flashable zip. That is what I will be doing. If you are still s-on I do think you will need to re-lock.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
you could do that or take the stock recovery and do the fastboot command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery Namehere.img
and then relock bootloader for OTA
you do not need to be relocked to take the OTA.
ive OTAed a couple times with an unlocked bootloader.
the important things are:
-stock recovery
-more or less stock rom(not modded to porevent OTAs)
thats it.

I removed couple VZW apps and added su akp(rooted).
Do I need to restore those?
BTW I did quadrant before and after and I can't believe it. It jumped from 2000 to 2500. Is this expected?
You could always skip the hassle and just flash the OTA packages that will come out 20 minutes after it is released... Give or take an hour.

*shrug* i wouldnt place to much importance in quadrant scores. you could have run it twice without doing anything and gotten as big a difference
i would run it several times and take the average. but even then dont get too caught up in the numbers verses real world how fast/smooth your phone feels.
Trust me I have done it on average bases. I know the score does not mean anything, but it fills that my phone runs better without those.
Now how exactly do you pull stock recovery out of a RUU? Or does someone have a link to the stock recovery file?

Its been quite some time since I've had a HTC and needed to revert back to stock to accept it, wouldn't it be just the same to wait till it drops, then just flash a pre rooted version from the debts?

IMO just wait after the OTA has been released. If you have soff there is no reason to do any special roll backs as I'm pretty sure a Dec here will come out with a flash able you can run to get the update.

Hi,
I've tried updating to ICS but got the black screen with the blue android icon and the triangle.
From searching the web I got mixed answers, some said that it may be because I've changed to CWM.
I'm still s-on.
What do I need to do in order for the update to work?
Thank you !!!:good:

You could change recoveries to 4ext (see my signature) since that is what people think the problem might be. Also, ICS does not seem to work well with S-On from what I've seen in these forums, so you may want to get S-Off.
thanks but..
First of all thanks to both of you for answering..
I'm a bit new at this so a couple of questions -
I didn't change roms, all I did was to unlock the bootloader (using HTCDEV) replace the recovery and get root. This means that I'm on stock Rom no?
Does changing the recovery to 4EXT will help? cause it's doesn't seem logical that changing to a different recovery will help me install the official OTA update..
Oh and I'm using the GSM version if that matters..
Again, thanks!

To install official updates you need stock htc recovery.... Since you have Cwm it won't work.. Flash stock htc recovery using fast boot then take the ota update and everything will be fine.
I'm aware that this may seem like a dumb question, but where do I get the stock recovery from?
(I know that fast boot is that file that I have on my computer, the one that i used to flash CWM recovery)
Thanks!!

Don't know if this will work, but I just searched evo 3d gsm stock recovery in Google and this came out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540121
There is a media fire link for the recovery.....
Flash it using fast boot, relock the bootloader and then try to install the ota..... And post back the results.... But taking the ota will update you Hboot, which might not be in unlockable atm....
Thanks!!

You made my week! have a great day !!:good:
if you have unlocked your bootloader via htvdev way why not try a custom rom? Lots of Roms out there. I'm currently on Virtuous Eclipse. Sense 4.0 is the best!
So Sprint finally said there was a system update to ICS so I downloaded it and installed and it instantly popped up an error, didn't have any words it was just a picture of the guy with the warning sign. So I waited and it never did anything. I figured I would clear everything/factory reset and see if that fixed it. Nope. Even moreso, it wouldn't let me install any other ROM either. I did enough superwipes and stuff that I finally got the stock ROM to work so I'm back where I started.. One clue might be that I cannot seem to clear the sd-ext, it gives me an error there.
With it back in working order, if I don't clear anything and just try and install ICS from bootloader, what I show in the pic is what happens.
The last part about the E:error in sd card is what I was getting when all the other ROM's were screwing up.
Maybe bad sdcard

I don't see how when it works fine now. It's like something is messing with it but I have no clue what.
Re-lock your device and apply the update again.
Just do a fastboot command "fastboot oem lock".
Ugh, you cannot take an OTA if you are rooted with a custom recovery.

wow! are you F***ing serious? OH I'M ROOTING AND I'M GOING TO TAKE AN OTA? SERIOUSLY!? lmao! Other than that, I'm not going to say anything more. lol. Anyway, DO NOT TAKE AN OTA!
I am not the greatest with these things. You are saying I need to unroot my phone for this to work? And I need to somehow get rid of the revolutionary recovery thing? I don't know what OTA means but I can see it's part of the file name. Is there a non-OTA version of it that I can use? For some reason a lot of ROM's don't work. I have hboot 1.5 with s-on and cynogenmod and a lot of ICS ROM's just hang on the HTC screen.

You don't need to unroot, but you need to lock your bootloader and get the stock recovery back to take the OTA. The easiest way to upgrade to ICS without doing all that is to flash the new firmware, then flash a stock rooted rom if you want to stay on the stock rom.

Upgrade firmware through bootloader, then flash a stock rooted rom or a custom rom based on ICS. If you want to use the new kernel, you will have to upgrade hboot as well, or you can keep your current hboot and use the VM leak kernel.
For some reason a lot of ROM's don't work.

Could be a number of reasons, you need the new firmware to run an ICS rom, and you need the new hboot if those roms use the new kernel.

You can't flash kernels with s-on, so you will need to get s-off before you want to use an ICS rom.
I'm interested in getting the latest OTA update and attempt to S-Off. I am currently unlocked via HTCDev, on the old GB firmware, and running CleanROM DE.
How do I go about doing this? I've searched the forum and attempted to relock for a couple of hours now with no success. Can someone please give me some instructions on what I need to do? From what I've read, it would be better to get the latest OTA before attempting S-Off. Is that right?
I am no expert, but I believe if you made a back up of the stock Rom, you could just restore it, then s-off. It would be easier to s-off, then you could ruu the newest update, and install a custom recovery after that. Like I said, I am no expert.

Have you thought about following these directions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696394&highlight=stock+rom+recovery
They worked for me.
Those are the instructions I was following. It says you must be on a stock gingerbread ROM or the 3.14.605.5 ICS Leak niether of which i am on so I guess that was my issue. It would get stuck after the first reboot and tell me to check device manager for adb or hboot drivers. I'm fairly certain I have all the drivers installed so it must be the rom I'm on. Thats why I was trying to figure out how to get back to stock.

Trust me you don't have to be on .5. I wasn't. I also posted a reply for you in another thread. In short look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425091&highlight=stock+rooted+rom
Ok, then it must not be the ROM. It has to be a problem with the drivers. I even uninstalled the drivers I had and installed them directly from the tool. Any ideas?

To RUU, you need to lock the bootloader first, you DO rename it to ph98img.zip and then flash in hboot.
I s-offed by just flashing the stock, rooted version of the RUU first...I didn't have to lock! I'll look for a link. :good:
