sbrissen has "hidden" it on the aosp lock screen in some versions of his mods...but for some reason touchwiz's eri.xml for us doesnt locate the carrier in the same area as aosp/other phones....many of us have tried (i changed every line in eri.xml, eri_sprint.xml in framework, and eri.xml in twframework)
just doesnt want to work
if your on aosp its easy enough though
where can i find the .xml to remove the verizon wireless part from my notification bar and add my own

Its the same one that the lockscreen uses. So if you arent on AOSP it looks like it cant be done.
xml changes don't work, you have to baksmali it.
here's a guide:

No.....notification dropdown in lockscreen is a special features for ICS Rom....its an quickest way to go to notification with having to unlock it....
if you don't like that feature then flash Custom Rom.....
If you realy don't like this you can use an other (custom) rom or lock screen but a lot of them keep this feature!
Maybe a good developper can solve your "problem" with changes in the lines of rom ...
anyone has any solution?
Use pattern or password lock, or change to miui.

I know, using pin or other security lock will disable it, but i don't want to use them
Actually, It somehow worked the way I wanted before but after a fresh install, it's back to old behaviour and I have no clue how it worked before

ICS has always had that feature. You would have to edit the framework, not sure whether framework-res.apk or one of the .jar files, to change it.
I am ready to do those edits if someone can tell me what and how to edit
So I have the AT&T HOX+ and it's got its Power Saver feature thing. I would like to use this, but I find it very annoying that the icon has to be eternally up in my notification bar.
I haven't found away to get rid of the notification, anybody know a way?
Other than installing a custom ROM, sadly no.

I don't knows about compatibility with AT&T HOX+ version, but for me (international unlocked version) work perfectly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973781
So this is what i propose to you : if you are unlocked rooted then 1st of all do nandroid backup before install this mod (in case it will not work with your version or happened something wrong so you are always in safe side )
Feedback please
Note: sorry, for information this mod for HOX not HOX+, and you can use this mod:

This is for international HOX+

Do you guys know of any (notification) toggle to quickly disable/enable lockscreen? In the notification panel Android unfortunately doesn't seem to have such a toggle build in. With the previous build, Jelly Bean, some widgets from the Play Store seemed to work, but not anymore.
And perhaps someone knows a good app/mod to put back shortcuts on the lockscreen itself as well?
Thanks in advance!
Dennis
Anyone?
Really no one else is having the same needs for a lockscreen toggle in KitKat?

Thanks for your reply!
I would like to stick with my ROM though, do you happen to know what kind of mod it is? And the ROM you're using, seems not 4.4.2...

Thanks. But it seems a bit of a hassle for a lockscreen toggle widget. It comes bundled with a lot of mods... So it seems...
I really appreciate your help, but I'm hoping to find something more simple/less invasive...

Hi. It's not that I'm bothered by the icons. It's just seems to come with a whole lot of other mods, as far as I can see. Or am I missing something?
Nothing personal, but I wonder why I seem to be one of the few who is looking for such a toggle . It seems such an obvious need? Haha.
Try xposed and gravitybox module.

Thanks very much, but what does it exactly do? Regarding the lockscreen, the developer says a few things:
- Lockscreen targets
- Lockscreen tweaks, regarding theming.
- Lockscreen rotation
It does not say anything about a "toggle" to switch it easily on or off. It also needs a framework to be installed, and a lot of other tweaks/mods come with the module, that I'm not sure I would like...Plus, I read in that forum, that the lockscreen features are not working.
Anyway, it's 2014, there's not any solution anymore to just have a widget or something for it? Like with previous android versions?

Gravitybox will allow you to add/organize/customize the quicksettings tiles (like the lidroid from the other post), including a lockscreen toggle. There's lots of other tweaks too, but you don't need to use them if don't want. And yes, you'll need to install xposed framework, but it's easy, there's and app for it (xposed installer). If you're interested, search for xposed or gravitybox threads.
But you just want a homescreen widget/toggle, right? Google "no lock widget".

Thanks. I just generally just don't like installing all kinds of extras, even if I don't use them. A policy that kept my hardware running very smooth, where others suffer from sluggishness.
I am more looking for a widget then, yes. The one you mentioned unfortunately doesn't seem to work... I'll keep looking .

I'm sorry, I can not English well.
You will need to modify two files, with root permissions.
/system/etc/customization/setting/config.prop & /system/bulild.prop.
Settings for each file "ro.nfc.icon.enable" to change the value, "false".
The setting of the two files must be the same.

Yes, it works, thanks a lot!!
Is there a non-root solution? Thanks
This isn't solved as far as I can see... I can turn off every other icon but not NFC... Must be a way, without root, surely??

Thx @ruinses, this nfc-icon annoys me for a year now.
I absolutely don't understand Sonys policy to force enable the icon.
A lot of people use smartlock or nfc-stickers, we KNOW it is activated, because we USE it.
The nfc-feature was one of the reasons to buy a Sony device, I checked it out on different models to be sure it works finebe fore ordering the z2 device .
They really made a read-only option hidden in two config-files just to disable the option for disabling the icon?
Wtf are they kind of stupid?

The NFC icon IS NOT enabled in all firmwares, if you don't like the root solution then flash another firmware.
No, I just disabled it, no problem now I know how to do it. Just had to switch selinux to permissive and edit the files
