Hey,
some more information would be useful Which android version do you have? Phone rooted? Which Rom?
Either way, try this: Go to settings --> applications --> all --> camera --> clear data
Maybe that will help already..
Yes please let us know which rom and kernel you are on.
THere was an issue before with some kernels but was fixed in newer roms. I still get this error when using NEAK 2.1.x so I switched kernels and everything is fine now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772931
I tried this fix on NEAK but didnt work for me though

Well, only one of your screenshots works.
I'd flash back a stock firmware and see if it works. If not, reset the flash counter and send it for service, should be covered under warranty. In fact, that's probably the first thing you should have done instead of flashing custom kernels.

If you want, it won't hurt. And depending on the state of your eMMC chip, it may end up being safer for you.
You can also find all firmwares (including 4.0.4) at www.sammobile.com.
Since you're on 4.0.4 though, make sure you do not do a full wipe/factory reset from recovery before flashing.
thanks

If your phone is "sane", don't worry about what I said regarding wiping. That was only a concern if you had a phone that was classified as "insane".

Like many others, I've followed the tutorial at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416190 but have ended-up with a loop.
In my case I cannot find the Samsung ROM for the Canadian version ( I5500MUGJJ7 ) as can be seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13958293&postcount=1 I'm not the only one.
End result is I've bricked my phone I think (but hoping NOT).
I don't think by following that tutorial I made a backup so I don't think I can restore - or CAN I?
Can anyone help me out - THNKS

That's the point, I don't have the original ROM. I was following the tutorial and had NOT realised I wasn't making a backup and I don't think the original author even realized the it would happen that the Canadian ROM would be one of the very few which couldn't be found if things got screwed-up.

First try to get on the tutorial, from this sequence:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416190
1.1 We need to install a boot-loader as the Samsung one is very limited and just plain awful! That said, it wasn’t intended to be used for anything other than the Samsung software so it’s not awful from their point of view but it’s pretty unfriendly to us.
To this
2.4 If you are new to use ClockworkMod recovery manager then before doing anything, please have a look at next screen to learn the navigation keys.
If this works, than we will talk what to do next.
Try different official rom, maybe it will work, you don't have anything to lose.

I don't think it's actually the ROM which is the problem but the "baseband". Twice I followed the tutorial and everything worked until it came time to restart the phone. At which time it went into the loop.
I have unlocked G5 and it is not Virgin Mobile - what now!
Thanks

I'm sorry for the late reply.
Yes you can flash the phone with an unbranded rom, you can even flash it with the monosim rom, if you don't want the dual sim function.
Yes I know a lot of people who did it (they liked the phone features bu they don't need the DS functionality.)

PS: Can you give me your "/system/build.prop", mine is so changed.. ?
Mine is also heavily changed... I can share it anyway but like tommorow (you should remind me via PM).
One guy should have sent me the clean prop but still got no message from him ...
Can anyone confirm for me they have been able to successfully install a custom recovery (like clockworkmod) or a custom ROM onto this phone?
I am looking to get a phone for 6 months of international travel coming up and this one or the One Touch Mini seems perfect. (I like this one better though cause it has an AMOLED screen = better battery life )

Ok well I installed CWM and rooted my phone. I went ahead and got this one. Let's see what's cooking...now if only I can get that boot.img...
I am very happy to report I have created a flashable rom(via CWM or TWRP) which is essentially the same as the default rom on the star, but it has some of the junk apps alcatel pre-loads on the phone like game-loft removed and SuperSU installed.
I created it by getting the firmware.info file for our device, creating a custom update-script (getting the correct partition mounts from the firmware.info) using some pointers from DorianX's AOTI Lite Rom update-script, taking the system directory and boot.img from a nandroid backup after a factory reset, and getting the custpack directory by using a root file explorer to copy it to my sd and subsequently my computer editing the custpack, and finally packaging it together via dsixda's kitchen.
I am still working on slimming it down a little more as there are apps in /system/ that can be removed as well, but I just wanted to see if creating a custom ROM was doable. And it seems it was after 3 days of experimenting
Also got rid of that default hideous white theme by changing a setting in the build.prop.
I can upload it if anyone would like me to.
Hi, i'm trying to upgrade my samsung s3 to the latest firmware and as my phone was rooted i tried to unroot in by installing a stock firmware. I first flashed this firmware xxx.sammobile.xxx/firmwares/3/?download=10895 (i have put xxx as i don't have enough posts to provide links) and it did not wipe any data, but after flashing it still said device status modified so i could not update.
So then i flashed another firmware xxx.sammobile.xxx/firmwares/3/?download=16495 (by clicking check your firmware) and this time it wiped all the data on the phone (i had made a backup of all important information).
Now when i go into to settings and try to update it says "the latest updates have already been installed" but in settings under android version it says "4.1.2"
Can someone help me with this please
Thanks
The latest version for the galaxy s3 is 4.1.2. I see no fault since u flashed the stock firmware? Unless u flashed a custom rom, it will be 4.1.2 no matter how many times u search for ota.

The latest firmware is 4.3 i just just googled it and before i tried to flash anything i had a software update notification (about75mb) but i could not update as my phone was rooted.
There was an update for the s3 4.3 but there was many bugs and many complained of huge battery drain so samsung removed the update. Why not flash custom roms?

Somewhere I read in this forum long time back - To try best of both worlds, Root + flash any AOSP rom + change bootanimation to samsung default + triangleaway => to eventually use custom rom but 'kind' of remain official. (although no kies support). I think the jist was if had to sent to repair center, the boot animation and triangle away would be sufficient for cover up.
U will have to flash back to stock then u can receive the ota or kies. I dun believe kies will update ur fone when u are on a custom rom. Easy way i always do is before flashing a custom rom, i do a nandroid back up and transfer it to my computer. Then flash the custom rom so when i wan to go back stock. Just flash the nandroid back up and wipe data and cache. And i am back to stock.

The idea in the source was => if a phone gets bricked and it can't be booted and if it need to be taken to be repair center, then in that condition ideally one should have official status to avail warranty. Even if that is ok repair center team 'could' see the boot animation and if that too remains stock, that would be perfect cover up.
still if not clear.... nvm

Hello guys
b4 i tell my problem id like to apologize in case that this was already discussed or in case my knowledge of android aint yet "high" enough.
To understand me fully ill write the whole story that ive done on my mobile in the quote.
P/s: its for my 1st time having an android in my hands.. so all my knowledge gained was during yesterday and today.
Yesterday i received the S2 i9100M from canada with gingerbread and sim locked.
Later that day, after i done a little reasearch on forums.. i succeed to root and unblock it ( sim unblock) - used galaxy_s unlock
Cz my CWM was ver 4. i wasnt been able to install OmniROm (kitkat 4.4.2)
Today, i installed a jelly bean version, and install a CWM ver that fits kitkat ~ though i dont know reallly how it changed by it self to TWRP.
After this .. i installed omnirom and gapps (standard pack).
And here is now the problem, i can't unlock again the sim.
As far i understood.. though when turning on the mobile it gives me yellow triangle, that the kernel is not fully rooted (?) ~ also downloaded an application from market, dont remember the name.. but used the same one yeasterday to see if it was rooted or not.
But, IF i want to unlock sim.. i got to have it rooted so id have the possbility to run the superuser and the galaxy_s unlock application.
ps: also i deleted the files that were stored by galaxy_s unlock application, and that causes error in aplication even after reinstalling it. ~ however i hope this is gonna be fixed after flashing the rom again and wipe...

So the question is : How to root the kernel which is installed by Omnirom ?
Sadly.. i didnt understand much about kernels.. so i ask you how to go through this problem with unlocking the sim..
Meanwhile.. id really like to stay on omni, cz i really like it ~ the simplicity, but in case that there is no chance to stay on it cz of the simcard.. im prepared to use other roms as well (but still preferably kitkat).
update
Heelllo again
since i had no ideas from you, i decided by my self to try instal cyanogenmod rom since it has the option of root. ~ instalation completed and root works as well.
But now.. the the biggest problem i have.. is cz i can't unlock the sim
tried Galaxy_s unlock from helzing(?) but it didnt work out.
tried .. galaxy S2 sim unlock and the app stops at 4/5 ~ the application seems its crashing
also tried one more application (dont remember the name) but it wants to pay 3 dollars to install pro version , while guaranteeing me that it has a code for me ~ and i doubt about this.
Any ideas ?
Ps: sorry in case i shouldnt post again here
Try *#06* in dailer,does that return your imei?
Ans on a side note,omnirom is rooted,you just have to enable it in developer settings,because its set to off as a default

Hehe... i didn't =D
u gave me wrong code =D ~ *#06* , BUT its *#06#, thats the reason it gave me that error.
However, now i flashed to jelly bean, and now again to CM (damn kitkat is da best)
Tried again those 2 applications : Galaxy S unlock and Galaxy s2 simunlock
1st.. didn't work =(
2nd.. stopped working at 4/5 process
Is there any other way to do it for free ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/howto-gt-i9100-free-sim-unlock-via-t1064978 may work may not. This is for i9100 so do it at you're very own risk.

well today i installed this rom again, to see.. if i really was so sleepy and didn't see the rooting possibility.
well in anycase.. i didn't find it again. dunno, maybe i missed it somehow, but i doubt there is this chance.
In CM this option for root its easy to find, didn't have same luck/success with omnirom.
~~~
Meanwhile.. i was shocked when i used CM for a while.. just to try it... Battery had 80%, did a reboot and had only 20% -_-
Happend this to me more times, though not more such in big differences, and i can't tell the same to had it on omni.
back to my problems...
after trying to get simunlock on : CM kitkat, Omnirom kitkat, Jellybean & Icecream, everytime had the same failure procedure, tried each for at least 3 times.. (i also mean that i totally wiped the system, install the rom, and try again)
in the end of the day, i tried to get on the stock ROM and it worked (gingerbread) ~ used Galaxy S unlock
Now the question is ...
How to install any newer ROM (preferably kitkat xD) w/o loosing the network access ? =D
Sorry if this had been already somewhere posted, haven't yet seen.
