[Q] where to change EQ in Android 5.0? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

So I recently updated to the latest release for our precious little device. Love it so far (after rooting and extensive debloating) but i can't seem to find the option to change the eq to another one. I installed viper4android and would like to use that instead of soundalive. The option used to be in Settings>Sounds and notifications but it is no longer there.
Anyone know where to find it now?

The only way is to turn it off in Settings/Application Manager then under the All Apps tab find and select Soundalive and clear cache and data, then select force stop and last Turn off. Also if you use the stock samsung music player it will turn Soundalive back on so just use another music app, I use either Apollo or NexMusic. I hope that helps you.

Thank you! Worked like a charm, can't believe I never thought of that

[Q] DeskClock.apk settings?

Hi,
i pulled the deskclock.apk file from CM5 for N1 zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496) and installed it from the phone with no issues at all (extracted to pc, moved to phone, then launched from folder). however, i can't seem to change the settings -- i get a force close. same thing happens when i click on the music icon, but i assume its looking for the stock music player instead of TW music. that one doesn't concern me much.
do i need another app to configure? is it possible to manually edit a file?
i am unrooted, if that helps. (just waiting for samsung distribution of froyo this month...).
thanks!
I also get force close..
in case this helps someone else, i found that "Alarm Clock Plus V2" gives all the functionality and looks of the stock deskclock.apk, but actually works well (on the Vibrant) and has more functionality.

My guess is there is a dependency missing. Another app that deskclock uses. Try grabbing the Clock.apk from cm5 and try again.
Try going to market and look for Samsung. The galaxy version of the desk clock is there.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
thanks guys. i think i'll stick with alarm clock plusV2 for now though -- does everything i want.
rel500, i downloaded that app before and, although i like it overall, the night mode is way too bright for me. it also doesn't seem to stay on while plugged in, which is a little annoying. thanks for the suggestion though.
The app is dependent upon the stock music apk that is on the CM builds, it is looking for that for the settings to be changed and also to open up the music player portion, you can set the alarm but that is it, unless you go to the hybrid build, which has the needed music player, or if you know what you are doing you can replace it yourself. But be aware that many of the touchwiz features are dependent upon each other. So know what your are doing before you break it.
Did they pull the desk clock from the market not showing up on mine

New to rooting...

So I finally took the plunge and rooted; I installed CM7, as well as an updated kernel (I think it was from "imoysen", or something like that?), though I'm still kinda shaky on these concepts. So I have a few questions.
First of all, on CM7, it appears that I don't have a voicemail app anymore. Previously, after installing CM7, I was missing the Android Market app (as well as other Google apps), and someone instructed me to flash GAPPS, which got these back for me. Am I going to have to do the same for voicemail?
Secondly, back when I was on stock, I like using Fancy Widgets and/ or Beautiful Widgets to get Sense-lock clocks (but with more themes). I'm noticing now, on CM7, though, that none of them are able to pick up my location for weather. Why is that, and how do I fix it?
Lastly, and this is one that I'm VERY curious about, now that I'm rooted, is there any way to make headphones with controls originally made for iPhones (the ones with volume +/-, and a middle button) work with the Thunderbolt? I know they don't work on stock because it's an Apple proprietary thing, or whatever, but is there a way to get them working on a rooted device?
Thanks much to anyone that can answer any of my questions.

No idea on Voicemail; I've only used Sense-based ROMs. I would assume that there are multiple voicemail apps available (but you could just use Google Voice, and avoid ever having to listen to voicemails! text message transcriptions of voicemails are much better)
Weather Location: In Settings -> Location, make sure you have location services enabled. Also make sure you have syncing enabled in Accounts&Sync.
As for the headphones, check out https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kober.headsetbutton&hl=en
You'll notice, however, in the description:
Headset Button Controller cannot support the separate volume control buttons on the iPhone headset - this is a limitation of the Android framework.

So you'll only get 1 button worth of control.
Hm. Well, in CM7, I don't see any kind of setting for "Location", nor is there anything for it in Accounts & Sync. I know when I was first trying to get it to work, I stumbled upon some settings for location, but even when I had everything enabled, it still wasn't picking up my location.
Bummer about the headphones... I have a really nice set that I like a lot, I just wish the three buttons worked with Android.
Flash this in your recovery. This is the latest network location apk. Should fix you location.

Cool, thanks, that did the trick!

[Q] Closing Recently Browsed Apps

Guys, Can I pls get your help for the below issues I have with my Sony Tablet S
I cant seem to "close"recently used apps', even after completely shutting down & disconnecting power. Its like I want to "delete browsing history" on a PC
I cant seem to log-out of Gmail at all as I can't see an option to do so.
The remote control learner does not learn at all, inspite of following all instructions. I have a Pioneer Amp to control music, but I've had no luck. After some research I've found out that the tablet can only learn from some models post 2011. Is this true?
I also have an Onkyo reciever for which I've downloaded the andriod app. This works well, but the app inevitably starts with the wrong orientation - inspite of my best efforts to hold the tab in the correct direction in which the app opened the last time. (It seems to rotate regardless)
I have no other issues such as force close or auto dimming as per my understanding of the most frequent issues on this forum
Thanks for your help guys. I really need it. Cheers
You could use "Advanced Task Killer free ( Or pro )
If you close an app does not mean it really shuts down but it wil stay there in memory,
The Task Killer will terminate all running apps.
Gmail is always running unless you uncheck the auto synchronize with Gmail,
you can find that in Settings / Accounts if that's what you meant.
I have several IR devices and i choose them from the device list no problems at all some actions didn't work well so I had to learn it from my remote control that worked fine to.
Orientation is a known issue but if you have your tablet rooted you could use a rotation app which requires root access something like full rotation i quess can't remember.
Don't mind my English

I have learned my tablet remotes from Dreambox 800HD (digitalbox for cable) and from my Harman Kardon AVR255 EU (reciever) and both are pre 2011. I also got it to work with a tv and digitalbox when I was visiting my father in the US. Can't remember the models though, but no problems with the remote. The tv in US was an old "fat-tv" not the new flat-tv
Honeycomb has no built-in method of killing apps at user request and for a good reason: Android does a better job itself. If Android needs to kill an app, it will do so, so you don't need to do it yourself. As for clearing history and the like, thats a bit trickier, but the stock Browser does include Incognito tabs for private browsing.
Gmail, on the other hand cannot be logged out of unless you go into Settings -> Accounts & Sync and either turn off Gmail sync (which still leaves you signed in, but not updating) or simply delete the Google Account. Gmail's not really made to be signed in or out of regularly.
As for your problems with the IR, thats definitely not the case and whatever your problems are, they're relatively isolated. Can you give us more detail on what you've tried and what happens when you do so?
With your Onkyo app, that almost invariably means that the developer has not included landscape support. If there is no landscape option for an app, it will force rotate to portrait, or vice versa if the app doesn't have portrait support. If you're sure they have, make sure that the Auto-Rotate Screen in your Settings toggles is set to On and if it still doesnt work, email the developer and let them know. Could be an isolated issue.
The question was not how to kill apps the question was how to delete recently opened apps and I have this question too. It seems there is no way.
Where are you finding these recently closed apps? As far as I knew Honeycomb didn't have any equivalent of the pre-3.0 "hold home button" dialog. The multitasking button in the bottom left shows running, paused and killed apps together, so there is no way to differentiate between recently used and closed apps, and recently used but still running apps.
maybe this helps

dont know about honeycomb cause i never tried this on it but on ics u can drag the apps out of the recently opened apps drawer and it disappears... try it... maybe it helps... or u can wait for the ics update to help u get rid of this issue....
Yes on ICS. But ICS came out last night us only for the moment. And with he there is no way.

As Schrammi said, that is a new ICS feature and on Honeycomb, the only way to clear apps from the multitasking panel is to reboot (which will also end the app, obviously)

[Q] Regarding the video player in browser on CM11

first off, i apologize if this doesn't belong here, but i cannot post and ask in the main thread for CM11 in development, as i don't post much, working more on the less you talk the more you listen mentality. However i cannot find anything regarding the integrated (i call it integrated as i cannot find any app which obviously related to it which i could get rid of), which is the video player when playing videos from other websites than youtube, it opens the video with this plug-in like video player.
Now in cm10.1 i could choose to open it with any video player i had installed, after updating to CM11 it just opens it up with that plug-in like player, which is really awkward and slow to use... and i want to get rid of it, however i failed to find anything regarding it on forums or google, not exactly sure what to look for, but did search for everything i could think of, there seemed to be a mention of this without an answer in the development thread though.
I checked settings in both default browser and chrome, opera mini just downloads the video file, which i don't want either. tried disabling java, basically dug through all the settings too... reset my app defaults etc.
If anyone has solution, or suggestions to solving this, please let me know as i spent few hours digging on it with no success :silly:
I am on CM11 nightlies, galaxy s3 i9300. And well any suggestions are appreciated... just want the selection for what to open video link with back.

I've tried that, did reset them, no effect. Was one of the first things i tried... just to be completely clear i want the dialogue to select app when encountering video files online flash or mp4 or whatever to choose what to open them with instead of the attached screenie...
In the same boat... using CM11.. I am trying to set 'Avia' as my default player (to play videos through chromecast)..
however couldn't find a way to set this.. and AOSP/Chrome/Dolphin browser starts to play videos (and flash videos) using internal video player inside the browser itself.. and somehow I couldn't find the default internal video player in the Settings -> Apps section. I even disabled 'Gallery' app.. any idea would be appreciated.

[Q] Cannot update the music player list

Hi all,
I am using GingerBread for Samsung Note 1. My music player no longer updated the playlist when I added new songs to the phone.
I guess there must be crash in the updating of the playlist database. Any method that I can use to determine how the crash happened and then I can try to fix it? (I rooted the phone )
Thanks.

First off...Gingerbread?! Really?! There are stable versions of Jelly Bean for your phone! Secondly, are you using the stock Samsung music player, or another app. But I would go into Settings / Application Manager and clear the data of your music app. Hopefully once you restart it, it will rebuild your playlists. That or your media scanner isn't working that well. Typically when you reboot, it should rescan the media on your phone and then it'd show up in the app.
Thirdly... Gingerbread?! lol Please, do yourself a favor and update! Not only will you have better performance (and likely battery life), but you will have access to more apps, lots of new features, as well as a more secure / safer system.
As far as telling what happened, you would have to get a logcat going when the issue happens (though I am not so sure there will be anything obvious for this sort of thing). Easiest way to do logcats are probably just on the phone with an app like alogcat.
