This doesn't sound like a scam at all.

+1 with Envious_Data, if a solution comes out, it will probably come from here (I hope so) :

just now maxfron released 10 codes for free.
check out x10 general-> free all SE unlocking + extras-> page 13 for username and password.
go to www.x10unlocked.com and download software.
you might be lucky if one acc. is not used

is there a method to unlock the damned phone ?
i'm not sure if i can post the website's url, but i used htccode (if you do a search for that and x10, you'll come across the forum with instructions).
however, their prices are now a boggling 50$ to unlock.
if i was in your shoes, i would try to find out 100% who the phone is locked to (I don't know how besides trying multiple sims) and call up their customer service to get the unlock code. i think the most expensive it could be is if it was locked to orange France (where i think the unlock is 25 euros)

Huawei updates automatic bootloader tool to include US devices

Looks like they don't work weekends. I sent it again Sunday afternoon (time in USA) and got it a few hours later. Thanks for your encouragement. I'm all rooted now. Just wish we had a dev working on this thing so I can get rid of bloat and make it my own. What a great phone (screen and battery).

I didn't use mine, but have it stashed away...just in case.
In the last few years, I've become more of a leave it stock person.
My previous devices, Dell Streak 5, Galaxy Note1 (international), needed root, new kernels, new OS just to make
them work properly, but, for me anyway, quite frankly, all I've had to do with my Mate2, is charge it up and turn it
on. Probably one of the most stable devices I've used, since my old analog & digital Motoroal Star-Tac flip phone.

I have a Dell Streak 7 and still have the original Note 1 (though neither is getting any action lately). I am usually a tinkerer but I have to agree with you that this phone is not too shabby on stock. I am glad I have root so I can delete some of the bloat.

Brush Unlock??? Not seeing anything related to unlocking the bootloader on that website.
If you are seeing the link then copy it here. I haven't dived into Brush Unlock since it requires to create a "nickname" which I am not interested in doing. Have tried other links on that site to no prevail. It's bad enough I had to link it to my facebook just to get this far....

Sorry, the photo was kind of small and I had trouble reading it. So, no, not Brush Unlock.
When I follow the link in the OP I then log in using my Huawei account that I created previously. Then I am taken to a page to download the new EMUI 3. I click on the download link and at the top, right of that page (just above the pics of the different phones) is a link for "Unlock Bootloader". Previously this took me to the tool to unlock the bootloader. Today it just takes me in a loop, back to the original page to download the EMUI 3. So, it appears that not only does it not work, they have now really broken it.
If you want to PM me your information I will try and get your unlock code. I would need:
Serial Number:
IMEI:
Also, please confirm that you have an MT2-L03, the US version of Ascend Mate 2.

Yea, I remember it showing the "unlock bootloader" link a while back which is what I was initially looking for lol. I Sid some googling earlier and found the actual link that lets you put in the information but I don't think it's been updated at all lol. No option for this device. All international. They need to link up with HTC and learn from them about how to handle this kind of stuff since it is web based.

Now that Honor has stopped providing the unlock codes for the bootloader, how to get it?
Or from now is impossible to install a custom recovery or root the phone?

have you actually tried? because not officially supporting and not working are two different things, people with different not supported models were successful when just using auto detection
also try different countries support email, in my home i was not successful, in Germany they gave it to me (though i asked prior deadline but received it two days after deadline)

So probably i sould waste at least 4€ to trying to get a code? All this because Honor has taken this stupid decision.
Btw somewhere i've read that Huawei has patched all backdoor used to get bootloader codes with these alternative ways.
Yes i've tried. I'm italian and first i've asked on Italian network, after on German network and they still wont give it to me.
1. i answered you how to get it
2. there was 2 months period before deadline everyone knew they will stop providing codes, so you either had plenty of time to get a code or not buy phone without this option if it's such issue for you

[REQ] How to unlock bootloader on Canadian LG-G6 (LG-H873)

I noticed that the unlock procedures for TMo-G6 (H872) don't work, and the LG Developers Site does not list the Canadian model (H873) as supported for their unlock.bin production. Anyone know how to unlock the bootloader on a Canadian LG-G6, or is there some rule saying I can't?
If it's not listed on the LG site, you don't.
it will never happen
Just curious... why does LG hate Canada? Some geopolitical stuff us southerners don't see?
What does that have to do with canada? Everything but EU and US is unable to unlock.

I think it's more of a control issue; LG likes to keep track of unlocks and has a weird online proprietary system for it. If they make unlocks for every single model available with their current system, they have to process way more unlocks through their website and I imagine they just don't want to do that. They put an annoying amount of effort into trying to control their platform. There's non-US997 models sold here in the states, including AS993 (the most common one you'll find on ebay) and they don't get unlocks either. It really sucks.
Luckily, people almost always find ways to get around these things and LG's lost this fight many times before but it's still frustrating.

You cannot unlock the bootloader for H873. I don't think there will ever be an exploit given the phone is more than two years old. Anyways in my experience this device is good even without rooting. You could hide the app that you don't use or go a step further and uninstall/hide using adb shell. This is uninstall even system apps from the user. I have uninstalled all system apps that I don't need. Also using 1) Blockada for ad blocking 2) AOSP Launcher (Google Launcher modded) 3) Gcam

Agreed. I was trying to install a linux chroot on it. I eventually found UserLAnd and that served my needs without root. Was still curious why Canada didn't push LG for unlock rights like the EU and US. In the US this kinda stuff made it to our high court in something called "right to repair". A tractor company (of all things) encrypted there control firmware and some farmers had figured out out to bypass it to "root" the tractor. This allowed farmers to repair the tractor on site instead of paying thousands to ship it from the farm to a tractor dealership. Anyway, tractor company tried to prosecute under an old DVD encryption law and it landed in our supreme court. Tractor company lost.
Weird that a DVD law used tractor company allows us to unlock phones.

Would like to hire someone to root my TCL A509DL

Hi,
I want to root my TCL A509DL phone but just don't have the time to figure out how to do it. I'd like to hire someone to root it for me. I'll pay $50 and give you remote access to my PC which will have the phone connected via USB with USB debugging mode on. I'll pay through PayPal and I'll pay $25 in advance and the remaining $25 upon completion of the root. Any takers?

Because it's a TracFone branded device, and manufactured by TCL, I was reluctant to believe at first that this phone could be oem unlocked and rooted. After some research and chats with members here on XDA, I see that I was wrong. Amazingly, the A509DL can be unlocked and rooted.

I should be able to do on my phone what everyone else can do on their phone. It's horrible that I have to either buy a new one, beg someone to help me or pay someone to help me.
The software to root your phone can be found online free. First, unlocking the bootloader is required. MTK Client is the recommended tool for that job. After that, patching your boot image with Magisk and flashing it to the /boot partition will get you root. Do a search here on XDA for "TCL A509DL" and read over the device threads for the procedures. Once I get the free time I'll be posting a full rooting tutorial for this device.

I pray that you do that soon. I paid the Android Shop already to help me but here it is three days later and I am still working on it. They said that I would have to pay another $25.00 for Ninja Root. This is ridiculous! I would be more than happy to pay someone to walk me through the process.

Ninja Root is not required. I'm not saying that Ninja Root can't do the job because I'm not familiar with it, but I do know you can root the phone without it. Be very wary of any service that charges a fee for rooting. The Android OS embodies the spirit of open-source platforms and free use policy. I don't condone services that charge fees to root. I do realize that you made the initial offer to pay someone to root your device. You can easily open yourself up to being scammed by doing so. Just be cautious and use your intuition. Be patient. If nothing else, I will be writing up a tutorial when free time permits.
If you are referring to Sunshine by The Root Ninja, I am familiar with that software and it is legit. Again, I don't know its applicability to unlocking or rooting the A509DL, but I do know it is legit with unlocking many models of bootloader that are otherwise perma-locked.

My friend, you will be the first to know, you have my word on that. Let me again emphasize that I'm not saying that whoever is wanting to root your device is a scammer or isn't legit. I'm just personally opposed to services that charge a fee for rooting.

I really appreciate it. Trying to learn how to do this has not been as fun as I thought it would be.

Well, you are definitely learning on a device that is both unorthodox and rather complex to root. Most devices are a cake-walk compared to the TCL A3. This phone steps outside the bounds of a typical rooting strategy. Traditionally, TracFone branded devices have not been rootable. New innovations in bootloader unlocking methods have made this possible. I was unaware of these new methods until only recently. That is the reason I was previously incorrect in stating that the TCL A3 could not be rooted.
If all goes as planned, I will have time this coming week to post a rooting guide.

I think that if it were easy, I'd probably learn a lot less. I really want to learn how to do stuff like this. However, you are absolutely correct, this is not easy.

That's the spirit...learn on this complex device and normal device rooting will come much simpler. In any event, I will keep you posted.

I have to be honest, I don't know how to do that. Tell me what I have to do. I will try it. If you don't hear back from me after, that means I bricked mine too.
