Have you checked in Device Manager, specifically, to see if it comes up there? If it does, does it recognize that the device has the drivers loaded?
If you haven't already, try a different cable? Reboot the computer?

The driver's from here http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGVS985? It's a common mistake if not. There's a driver package somewhere that (I think) is for all the other G3 variants - it has a version number starting with 3, and then there's this one specific for our G3 - the version number starts with 2. I have no idea if that version number of the package corresponds to the version number seen in Device Manager, sometimes for various things on the computer, they're not the same, especially when there's multiple entries for various things in Device Manager all for one device.
You don't have to uninstall the wrong drivers. Install this one with your phone unplugged, reboot the computer after just because, and then open Device Manager and plug in your phone and see if the drivers load. If they don't or they still have yellow triangles, then there's some other problem going on with your Windows.
It can take 5-10 minutes total to load the drivers the first time, once you plug in the phone, but it should tell you almost immediately that it's trying to load the drivers with a notification icon in the right of the taskbar. You can double click it for progress.
Ignore any of this you already know.

Yeah so i'm not sure which has the drivers needed, only that it's something i obviously installed a while ago since i haven't installed anything new lately on my PC. I've got Kies installed (never really use, but it has some sort of drivers i think), i've got Android SDK tools (again, might contain some drivers), and i believe i downloaded the drivers via the samsung site as well.
The one thing i do notice is that it shows up as "GT-I9100" instead of our model under My Computer. So perhaps the drivers for the i9100 need to be installed as well?
Sorry, wish i had a more concrete answer for ya . does anything show up under your computer's device manager when the phone is plugged in? (likely something with a question mark next to it)

It shows up as unrecognized device, and it always says it malfunctioned, it has never worked even when I had the original samsung rom
I was kind of having the same thing happen. Computer wouldnt see my phone. Did a little research and came up with this. I deleted KIES (from what I read on here somewhere LOL) and did a search for this( used bing.com)...Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones v1.4.8.0 After I loaded that everything went back to normal. Took me awhile to find that info but now Im glad I did!! Hope this helps!!
Try uninstalling Samsung drivers, reboot, and installing it again. Also be sure that the USB port is functioning. It sometimes could be the USB cable (HTC USB cable doesn't work very well with my i777 whereas Motorola's USB cable works great).

Have you installed the Kies drivers on your computer? I'm not 100% sure, but I think you may need USB Debugging enabled too. Try these and then try again. Remember to make sure you have killed all Kies related processes from your Task Manager before using Odin, as it could potentially mess up the flashing process.
Do you have Samsung Kies and all its necessary drivers installed?
*EDIT* Sorry, it seems like i didn't see your comment.

Ok, try these steps I found on Microsoft's support website:
As all the hardware devices have drivers associated similarly USB devices also have it. Sometimes proper drivers do not get detected after the initial installation so reinstallation of the drivers helps resolve the issues.
You may check after uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers if you are able to connect. You may disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
* Note * If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
3. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check if at all there is an exclamation mark along the driver, it suggests issues with the driver installed.
4. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.
If you still face the same issue then you may check for the updated USB device drivers using windows update.
no luck

Try a different Micro-USB cable if possible, and in different USB ports in your computer.
Also try this:
1. Hold your phone and look at the micro USB connector on the bottom edge of your phone.
2. You will see a "tongue" inside the USB port.
3. Put something "non metalic" (I used a flat wooden toothpick) in the port. Gently, lift up the "tongue". I used a twirling motion on my toothpick to raise the tongue up a little bit. Don't go PRYING it up, just be gentle because you don't want to break your toothpick inside the phone or break the tongue.
no luck

Sent from the little guy
Hey!
This is my first time posting, but I have read tons of threads on here over the last year or so with my Droid DNA.
A while ago, I rooted my DNA, and unlocked the Bootloader, and used moonshine for S-OFF. I now want to undo all that I have done. Wiping data is no issue, I backed up all my info. I plan to get a new phone soon. Basically, I can't get adb drivers to work. So I deleted my drivers, and installed the ones mentioned in the thread linked below, and I can't find how to get these drivers to work.
My plan is to follow this thread, using step 3 (for moonshine). I have TWRP installed, and flashed the lock_bootlader.zip file provided there. I cannot get adb to work, however, for the next step. For example, "adb devices" returns no devices. And thus i cannot use adb commands. When I run "adb devices", it shows this. What do I do??
Thanks
Some more clarification:
I might also add that Device manager shows my phone as "HTC6435LVW", under "Portable Devices". It seems to recognize it as an MTP Device when I try to update the drivers, and won't let me update the drivers, because "The best driver software for your device is already installed".
In addition, HTC Sync Manager does not recognize my phone either. I should mention that I already chose "Reset Phone" from the Settings menu, and then also did a Factory Reset from TWRP.
I'm so confused by all this - Why can't I get ADB to recognize it?? I have been and will continue to be searching for solutions to this problem here on XDA and also on Google. And do I even need to do all this to give my phone back to Verizon?
Try getting the drivers from PDAnet. If you are using Windoze 8 or 8.1 , good luck.

I tried that, it gets stuck at the USB Driver Installation page, when it asks to connect your phone. I have USB debugging enabled, and I even installed PdaNet on my phone to try to use their "USB Mode". The DNA has not USB options for Mass Storage, etc like the pdanet driver help page ( pdanet . co / driver ) (It wont let me post a link because I'm a new user, sorry) tells me to look for.
Windows device manager does not recognize it as an Android phone, but instead as a portable device, could this be a problem?

Hello wise XDAers....
Ok so my goal is to get my new vs985 12b to CM12 or something cooler. So first step I need to downgrade the phone in order to root. I've been trying to follow the instructions here http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html?m=1 but I seem to be stuck at step 4 - getting the phone to be recognized by Windows in firmware update mode. I have tried 3 Windows 7 machines and a VM W7 machine. Granted the 3 machines are similar HP laptops. I think they are all 64 bit. I don't have a COM/LPT in the Device Managers, not after showing hidden devices and there does not seem to be a BIOS setting which affects.
In firmware update mode I've got yellow flags on CDC serial, lge android phone and vs985 4g. Are these even the right and complete list of device manager items I am to install? I'm hoping one of these I can edit to get the COM port setup? Some have said to enable debug mode or ethernet USB mode - but these options are only available in normal boot mode in the phone; I did try and turn on debug nonetheless (though it was greyed out, it did seem to check the box??) and I could not find ethernet mode. I do see some posts on the internet that others seem to lack this option, perhaps in 12b it was removed. Further it does seem that many new machines lack a COM/LPT port, so I don't know if there is a way to emulate this or if the drivers for the LG set this up? I am using the LG's dedicated usb cord and have tried multiple usb ports.
I am trying the Windows drivers available on the LG support page for the phone but there also seems to be Verizon LG drivers. Not sure if I am supposed to use one or both or if once installing it one or the other it screws things up and how you are to remove? The VZ drivers seem to be removable under "uninstall programs" but not the LG drivers. I also have been trying to get Windows update to auto install the drivers, but does not seem to work. Here are the two I have been trying:
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S51MAN313AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.13.2.exe
LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.14.1.exe
Am I doing this all wrong? Is there an easier way? Help!
Hi, just a quick reply that's not all inclusive as I'm at work and I'm going to hurry. You don't have to bother uninstalling the regular drivers. Installing the Verizon drivers is what you need to do, and it'll be fine if you installed the other drivers first. I'll try to get back about the rest of your post later.

Thanks roirraW "edor" ehT! I've got the LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.14.1.exe installed now, so I guess the issue is in firmware update mode I've got yellow flags on CDC serial, lge android phone and vs985 4g. On my virtual machine w7 I do have a lpt/com in device manager, but none of those 3 items are in that parent item. I guess if I figure out how to install them properly, they might "go under" the lpt/com parent entry? I've tried all the USB ports and tried rebooting the phone and computer several times. Tried letting Windows update search for drivers to update (if you rmb/properties on these items with yellow flags it says the driver is not installed despite the installed Verizon drivers). Not sure what else to do.
OK! Think I figured it out! Got the right device installed with the latest Vzw driver from LGs site - seems to be version 20.

Thanks mate! I am not out of the woods yet - now having an issue in the flash tool, posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/help/q-t3035198
I've searched far and wide, i can't figure it out.
I'm running 0F1, rooted on i545 (Verizon). Android 5.0.1.
Plugging in USB to PC laptop on windows 7, says "unknown device" in device manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers section.
if i right click and select "update driver" and browse from list on my computer, it gives me "unknown device" (if "show compatible hardware" is ticked).
If i untick that option i can scroll down to find a bunch of drivers by Samsung, but all of them inevitably result in an error code 10 cannot start, or error code 43.
Kies3 did not fix the problem.
Odin doesn't recognize phone as plugged in.
removing sd and rebooting then plugging in did not fix the problem.
It seems no matter what i try i cannot get it to fix.
The only "secret code" that works is ##366633#. This enables me to turn on or off "DM mode" No real solution here that i could find, but maybe i missed something.
So, do you think you're smart enough to figure this out? Because i'm not. And i could really use your help, PLEASE!
Anyone?
I've put the deodexed stock i545 ROM, still nothing. but i can now boot to recovery which i couldn't before.
the hardware id is listed as unknown under properties tab. i suspect this has something to do with the issue. but i dunno.
could this be fixed by installing xposed and following any steps that someone can suggest?
when in download mode the current binary and system status says custom. could this be it?
also when plugging in, no MTP option pops up.
I've connected an unrooted gs4, on of1 and it connects fine so i know it's not the ports or the cables.

thanks for the reply. unfortunately I've tried that.
I'm pretty sure the issue is with my phone caused after rooting. I've given up on this issue. air droid will have to suffice, albeit much too slowly.

Try Send Anywhere! It's all I use.
Never heard of this problem. Without Odin you need to be very careful.

cool I'll check that out thanks!
i totally agree that no odin is scary. luckily flashfire can do so much. i was even able to install xposed framework, I'm pretty happy about that.
as it turns out, knox is apparently tripped on my phone. Not sure if that matters since it's beyond warranty anyway i think.

Flashfire will not get you out of a Bootloop. Only Odin can.
