Hey guys, I'm thinking about making a custom chest or head mount for this massive phone, considering its waterproof and all that, I'm just debating the weight and such. I think it would be an interesting feat, as it can shoot 1080p at 60fps. Anyone have any knowledge they can contribute to make this sturdy, safe and easy to do? I'm thinking using aluminum so the phone won't fold under light bails, and rubber studs in the interior, like the studs on the bottom of laptops, that way it can take a bit of stress and also keep in place. You would of course need a smartwatch to press record or something of that likeness. Any thoughts? If anyone wants one, when I make it I might make a limited print and get them sent around?

The title says it all really, just want to know what the fit is like etc. As far as I can make out we're a bit stuck for cases for the Orbit2.
Many thanks. Apologies if I've missed this if it's covered here somewhere.
OK, just to round this thread off, in case anyone else out there is thinking of buying a Krusell case for the Touch Cruise to use with their Orbit 2, I now have one and basically I am fairly happy with it.
On the negative side, the case adds a fair amount of bulk and it's not possible to have anything plugged in to the bottom connector (a real pain for headphone use) whilst the case is poppered up. The fit is not exactly right, many of the holes don't line up exactly as they would if the case was designed for the Orbit2. The popper you need to pop to open the case to take a call etc is a bit of a fiddle, would have been great if Krusell had designed in a tag to make that easier.
On the plus side; the case is a big improvement for me over the case that came with the phone. The quality is great, ah the smell of new leather! The holes at the back for the camera and mirror and the speaker seem to line up fine. The fact that the holes at the front don't line up perfectly doesn't seem to make any difference to the quality of phone calls.
My plan is to get hold of a leather punch/sharp knife and do some customising, so that I can plug my headphones in whilst the case is closed and to enlarge some of the holes at the front so that it should all fit properly. Then if Krusell/someone else releases a custom made case for the Orbit 2, I wouldn't think I'd even want to change it.
If anyone else is interested and wants me to post any pics let me know and I will be more than happy to do so.
It would help if you had a link to the product.
I am interested in seeing your pictures too...because often times I have found the pictures on the manufacturers \ store websites are VERY misleading and small.
Thanks in advance.
Would it really help you? I see you are in the US, I am talking about the O2 (European) Orbit 2 which has differing dimensions from the rest of the Polaris', due to the O2 branding, which gives the whole phone a different shape and means various bits are in slightly different positions from the Polaris/Touch Cruise. If this still might help you I can fire up the camera and post some pics, no problem.
I just pulled my GTab from my mold and plan on producing carbonfiber hardshells similar to the SPECK cases for iPads. I have done this before for my black Macbook. I replaced the back of the LCD and did the lower case both in carbon fiber. The lower did not turn out as good as I expected (due to too many undercuts) but the top is flawless.\
I am getting ready to order some more CF so I can cast the case for the Gtab.
Question now is will there be any interest here for cases.
I have to order in bulk (resin and CF) so my asking price of $75 is straight cost and will be happy to pass that on to the community.
PM any interest.
Hell yeah! Any pics of your work?

Im interested, but wondering if this would be a clip on type or a direct replacement for the rear housing?
it would be clip on. Only issue I'm having atm is the power and volume rocker buttons. That area is so thin that valley cutting them would make them brittle and weak.
Once I solve that issue, I can begin the first master cast.
"Question now is will there be any interest here for cases."
Yup
I'm interested to see the final product. I'd be game (probably) to get one, assuming it would be like a Sedieo style.
(Also, I work in the mold industry as a CNC programmer/engineer. Let me know if I can be of any help.)
with a cherry on top!
Pictures please!
I'm very interested. Can't wait to see what it looks like.
I'm very interested!
After messing around with the master casting I've come to the conclusion that there is no way to correctly create a snap-on type case for the GTab. the Power and volume rockers leave no room on the side for proper casting and strength.
Did a test casting around the weak zones and even after oven curing the test, they snapped with very little effort. Even tried dual layer CF on the weak zones and there is just not enough surface area to make it strong.
Looking into picking up another GTab so I can pull the back off and cast a replacement carbon fiber back piece.
Seems like the only reasonable option now. Will post updates as I make progress with this.
After getting chewed out by wife over buying another GTab, I would like to put a call out to other owners. If anyone has a DEAD GTab and wouldn't mind "loaning" the back plate, I can get to work on trying another mold to create a backplate replacement. Unfortunately my Gtab is freshly skinned and really don't want to pull all that off to make a casting.
Is there a way to do it without casting over the buttons? Could you just leave one corner unprotected in a stylish fashion?
Does anyone have experience with this case? I know it covers the mic (I plan to drill a little hole).
I just received mine today and I must say I'm very impressed by the quality of the mold they used. Meterial seems top notch. Love this case so far, they also included the new screen protector which is a plus. Ill get pictures up ASAP. I would definetly recommend this case to anyone with an s2.

Pictures would be great! I also have a white one on the way, hopefully as I placed an order over the weekend. I intended on modding the thing to get rid/fill in the antenna hole if I ever find the time, too (or find out if it really bothers me that much).
Ok, whats the deal with the corner cutout? I've seen this on several different cases. Does the international version have some sort of pullout antenna?
Case looks nice and classy but for what they are charging they should be offering a case that's specific to the AT&T model.
I recall reading that the corner cutouts are originally for Korean model phones. The antenna was in that area for those phones.
I really like it. It's a nice mix of hard and soft materials. It's flexible, which is nice because it makes removing the case fairly easy (for those of you who want to access the phone's back cover to hot swap batteries).
For the most part, the case feels pretty smooth, which makes getting it out of the pocket an easy process (I previously used the casemate pop case and the rubber sides made it fairly annoying to pull the phone out of the pocket). The case definitely adds more grip to the phone, but overall, it still is a little bit on the slippery side. On the continuum of "slippery vs. grippy" I'd say it's a pretty good balance, but I wouldn't mind it being a little more grippy.
Even though the case is made for the international GS2, it still fits well on the AT&T SG2. The noise-cancelling mic is covered by the case, but I have not had any problems as a result of this. However, you might come into problems if you are trying to use the phone in a noisy environment. I'm a little bothered by the corner cutout for the antennae (for the international SG2) since it really leaves that corner unprotected if the phone happened to fall right on that corner. Then again, i'm just going to take my chances that i'm not going to drop my phone on that exact corner.
The case still keeps the phone very thin and sleek. Also, the case has these tiny sparkle dots that show up on the back of the case, which give off a cool effect when reflecting light. Some may say, they make the case look a little feminine, but I personally don't think they do. In all honesty, you can't even really notice them unless you look close at the case and in the right lighting.
I got the yellow ultra capsule. I've heard one person say that these cases are prone for showing up finger smudges, but at least with my yellow one, finger smudges have not been a problem.
The case covers the volume and power keys. They are still pressable and work fine, but the buttons aren't as sensitive as they are without the case. However, this difference is really negligible for me. Overall, hardware buttons work fine.
I really liked the Body Glove Mirage cases that were made for the Samsung Captivate and the Infuse. In my opinion, this case is just as good as those cases.
can you guys post some pictures? want to see how much it adds to the thickness of the phone.
it does look good from their website though..
Sorry on the delay for the pictures guys, let me know if you need any certain perspectives on some more pictures.

what does the unprotected corner look like with that case?
I recently purchased an Otterbox Defender and after a week have already had some issues with it. After taking the case off 3-4 times one of the clip holes is already cracked in the lower right hand corner and the case now creaks in the upper right hand corner. And, this is from taking the case on and off a few times, not dropping the phone with the Otterbox on it.
After realizing the design flaws of the how the case snaps together I now have my own idea for a case that would not only prevent this but be much easier to put on and take off while maintaining the rugged feature. The problem is, I'm not very crafty so I'm not sure how I would build a prototype, nor am I an engineer or artist. But, I do how what the concept is and how it should work.
How would I go about making this happen? I'm thinking there must be a way to make it happen.
I am possiibly willing to share the design concept via pm with someone if you would know of a way to build a working prototype.
Lastly, I've owned several different cases and researched several others as well and haven't come across the concept I have in mind.
Edit: This idea could be utilized for cell phone cases in general not just specifically the 3d.

I would learn how to make a CAD drawing and find a place where you can bring it to life with a 3D printer.

Hey guys -
Figured I'd throw this out there. Is anyone aware of a 3D model of the design of the LGOG? Not necessarily the whole thing but the back cover would suffice. I've got a buddy who has a business in which he makes custom metal parts. He's not precision machines that, if I supply the autoCAD or 3D model, they can laser cut it out of a nice piece of aluminum or whatever. Errr, how dope would that be??
I know I'd need to move the antenna and NFC, but that shouldn't be too difficult.
If this works out I can possibly run a batch for some of you other owners that are interested out there!
Let's do some digging!
Doubt anybody has it. Your friend doesn't have some sort of 3d scanner?

I really wish I could help, what you're proposing sounds awesome, however;
I would get an aluminum blank and (tape?) it to the back of the phone or at least hold it there and observe your wireless functionality.
Make absolutely sure that your cell/wifi/bluetooth still works with a metal plate there.
If you can do me a favor, please post the results, and try copper as well if it's available. I'm interested in internally placing a copper or aluminum shim for extra thermal mass and heat spreading. This would be very useful to know.
If I come across anything I'll pass it your way, in the meantime you might want to make a cast of it for your friend with a clay mold or plaster of paris, etc.
That process itself might actually be a usable solution and net you a custom back piece, make a cast copy and use say fiberglass, then you can coat it with a carbon fiber decal or something, would look pretty awesome

plenty of casting / mold making guides on the web. the only extra steps I would take would be to fill the screw holes with a dab of clay on the underside of the back piece so that it can be removed easily from the mold, you'll just have to poke them out of your copy when you're done.
