Hello everyone.
I have an HTC One M8 from AT&T and I converted it to the Google Play Edition and ran it on AT&T until a few days ago then I updated it to GPE lollipop and now I am trying to use the phone on Ting but the unlock code I got from AT&T is not working. I paid for the unlock code last year and it was the same code. Could converting it to a Google Play Edition have caused it? And if so can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Bill

Possibly. I know on my old One X (EVITA) the SIM unlock code would only work on Sense ROMs (failed on AOSP ROMs like CM). Not sure if the same is true on the M8 and GPE. But its very possible.

Hello.
I have registered to this forum to try to find a solution for my problem. I've received HTC One X+ as a gift, but it's sim locked to AT&T. I'm not US resident so I can't use them as a carrier. Yesterday I've called them and they told me that they don't have a code for that particular device. I'm asking for help not, because I haven't found ways. I'm asking for help because since AT&T says that they don't have a code, will the guys from sites that I'll pay to have a code. And does anyone knows free working method for sim unlocking?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much for the help. Today I purchased a code, but when I re-inserted the sim card, it didn't ask for it. I can use the phone as a normal device, but I still have AT&T branding (not sure if the code would've helped with that) and also unused code... This is really strange to me, since last week it asked for an unlocking code and now it isn't. I'm talking about same sim card... Is there a way to enter the code that I got or it's useless now?
If your att phone is already working on t mobile then your code worked and your phone is SIM unlocked
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium HD app
Again, thanks for the help. And one more question (sorry about it, I am very new in this). Is there a way to "debrand"it and get clean HTC android with Sense skin? I know many of you don't like it, but at the moment I like it very much, even though I haven't tried anything else
What do you mean debrand it? It already come with HTC sense, no need to install anything.
Well, I don't know how big is Android 4.1.1, but when I got it out of the box it was with 11GB taken memory. There is some bloatware from AT&T and also an AT&T splash screen (with which I can live) Also (I don't have idea if this is something) if there is update for HOX+ from 4.1.1 at the moment I'm connected to AT&T servers and I have to wait for them to release it. I'm not US citizen (don't know if it matters) but I wish if there is a way to find some other way to get official android update for my device.

Root and uninstall all the bloatware. I would go install a better Rom if I were you. AT&T type things are completely removed then. May I suggest Blackout Mongoose.
I have the t-mobile htc ONE and i want to use it with ATT. Getting a hard time getting the unlock codes for free of course, but i planned on making it the dev edition anyways. was wondering turning it into a dev edition does that sim unlock it automatically? /flashing the dev edition RUU/ of course with s-off and supercid...

No it does not. TMo should provide a code if you've had the phone more than 45 days. You can always request it.
Hi every one,
I'm new to android and htc one is my first android phone. I bought htc one at&t from a guy who said he had inserted sim code unlock to the phone to convert to international one. Now i can use my carrier on the phone but i am wondering if my phone will become locked again and under what circumstance or actions? Thanks

Once you sim-unlock your phone it will not re-lock.
All,
I have a T-mobile HTC One that is locked to T-mobile and was wondering if it would be worth my time and effort to get it Sim unlocked and stay with T-mobile for the purpose of maybe getting the Android 4.4 Kit-Kat update sooner? I read that HTC USA is bringing it out "within 90 days" for all HTC Ones, but the Google Play edition within two weeks and the "unlocked" and developer editions within 30 days. I know I'm being impatient but I am looking forward to the new functions and am hoping that it fixes the horrible battery drain that I have noticed since the 4.3 update.
The phone is paid for and I have already called and am eligible to get the unlock code....
One of my questions is how to unlock it without a "foreign" sim? Can I just by a net talk or other phone company sim and unlock it then just pop the T-mobile sim back in? And if so would that qualify the phone as "unlocked" to get the update that much sooner? Also, would that cause me any issues with T-mobile's network? I know I could use one of the many fine roms here but my hacking skills are nil and I would prefer the factory update, I would rather not put my non existent skills to the test.
Please any and all help would be greatly appreciated! :highfive:
Thanks for looking!
Getting your phone sim unlocked will not help you get the htc update faster,so if that's the only reason you need it unlocked do not waste your money on that.Probably will be a custom firmware available for your phone and can use that if can not wait for the official release from your carrier, but that may damage your waranty
So that wouldn't qualify it as an "unlocked version"?

even if you unlock it by an unlock code when updating using the built in update feature, will update to the tmobile rom,the "unlocked version" is the never locked version, that came unlocked with unbranded rom

wont work...SIM unlock only works for INTL
I bought an AT&T version from Best Buy for $350 new. AT&T unlocked the sim lock within a day and a half. I don't even have an account with them. I rooted and flashed Viper One rom. Now works great on T-mobile. Don't waste your time with Sprint. Just laugh at their lying commercials.
