Hello.
I had to revert to stock to recover from some bad flash using this procedure : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2641261
I would like to reinstall TWRP recovery so that it can be used to flash firmwares from zip files and also recover from my backup on my SD card. What is the correct way to do this? Which TWRP recovery should I use? Where should I download it from?
Thanks.

The twrp instructions are here:
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/214
The latest version available there is 2.7.1. I believe that there were some updates for "May devices".
There are 2.8 version in kuronsan's KK ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oma...rom-omate-truesmart-ironman-firmware-t2998434
The recovery image should be flashable as described on the twrp page.
(TWRP 2.8 adds MTP in recovery, which works much better for me.)
I've tried overwriting the recovery that comes with the latest stock from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2641261 with 2.7.0, 2.7.1 and 2.8 and I cannot enter recovery...
Edit : I've just flashed 2.6.3.0 and I was able to switch to recovery... knock on wood...

So how does one flash TWRP from CWM?
Flash the zip in recovery. Reboot recovery and you will have twrp. Make sure its the latest version from their website.
Twrp isn't recognizing my SD card and I need to know how to remove it and flash cwm internally because writing the recovery IMG isn't working on my nook

Just flash CWM over TWRP (You can do it from within TWRP I'm sure, I've never used TWRP).
There is a flashable CWM version in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975214

TWRP won't flash a new version over itself. You need to boot into SD recovery, then you can flash the CWM you referenced above from the SD card recovery.
HEY GUYS everytime i attempt to flash a rom in TWRP that uses an aroma installer, it just reboots to the TWRP splash screen. im fastbooting the boot.img, altho that doesnt work; i use flash im GUI to flash the boot.img with the rest of the modules, but still nothing help?????
What version of twrp are you using? I would update twrp if you aren't on the latest since some roms require newer versions of recovery

i am using v 2.1.8, or whichever version comes with the one click method .........thanks for the quick response! is there an updated version i can try??
Go to teamwin and download the latest, if you aren't familiar with fastboot then download the zip update and rename it following the instructions listed and in recovery mount external and copy the zip. Do not place the zip on internal, it will cause the phone to endlessly install and reboot (or reboot if you cancel) if you don't have a full system to boot to
easiest way is to download goo manager app.. top rite click the box.. then hit install openrecoveryscript.. that will install the latest twrp.. :good:
I am on Global stable miui 8.2.4 but for some reasons i don't like it and i wanna downgrade to 8.1.15 . I have Twrp installed and rooted . Can i flash recovery 8.1.15 rom using twrp ?
Or i need to flash a fastboot rom using twrp ?
somebody?
I have flashed stock 8.2.4.0 from 8.2.2.0 with flashfire, although I have twrp too. No problems just put the zip in right folder.
Yes you can. I have flashed both dev and stable. @jazzh mentions something about folders. TWRP doesn't really care about that.
Be warned though that flashing the official zip also replaces the recovery and there is a bug with 8.1.15 where you cannot flash TWRP back afterwards.
If you go back to 8.1.15 and want to use TWRP for flashing a custom rom simply use
fastboot boot [recovery name].img
to soft load TWRP and do all your work from there up.
Yes, that's a good advice.
I soft boot twrp whenever performing backup or updating magisk.
I just mentioned folders because flashfire is started from os and it will look into the ota folder and if it finds the zip it will offer rebooting to perform the update.
I've got a SGS4 (I9506) with Cyanogen Mod 13.0 and CWM and I want to switch to LineageOS 15.1 which states I should use TWRP.
1. Does it make a difference whether I use CWM or TWRP?
2. How exactly would I proceed to replace CWM with TWRP?
The only answer I found while searching was to "just use GooManager from the Play Store"...
Thanks in advance
Simple you going to go on twrp and see if a offical twrp exist for your device and if not go on the xda page for your phone and see if any modified twrp bulids exist for your phone and then you flash the twrp image in your recovery and reboot recovery will pop up and now you have twrp I hope this works...

well, I'd hope this works too, because that's what I'd have tried without asking here.. but I'd like some assurance

1. It makes difference by not booting into rom when you flash with cwm or older versions of twrp
2. Download twrp from https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=3700668719832239230 .... and flash it with odin..
or extract that .tar and you will find recovery.img then flash that .img with flashify app if you are rooted..
Hope this helps
