[Q] How can i read whatsapp messages on PC - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello , iim trying to read my whatsapp messages , chats from my phone.....i copied the database folder and i have the crypted 8 files.
i found ways by getting the key to be able to decrypted it but it all requires that you have the phone....but i dont have the Phone or old Number....all i have is just the database folder anyone can help me please?

I think you need your primary E-Mail account for identification (don't know why as it uses your Phone number for creating your account).

SMS backup-getting SMS Export tool (yorch.net) working?

HI together, :?
I`m new in this forum and found it because I have a issue I don`t get rid of. I have 2500 sms messages on my xda and want to sell it to get a new one. My problem is I don`t want to delete my whole sms messages as there are so many important one I can`t delete as I need them documented.
I installed now the SMS Export tool from yorch.net as I red in this forum here that I should be able to get this done with this tool.
Problem is that I´m not able to get it done successfully.
1. I downloaded the tool and installed it from my PC over Active Sync on my xda.
2. I can see the SMSExport.vce file in my root folder on my xda
3. I can see the VICERT.vce and Visual CE.unload file under /windows
Problem is now that I need asistance how I can use the tool now ?
1. If I start the VICERT.vce file I get the msg "Run VisualCE.exe to create a form"
2. If I run Visual CE.unload file as I don`t see a exe I get the msg that there is no application assigned to the file?
3. If I riun the SMSExport.vce file I get a programm called SMS Export Utility in front of me where I don`t know how to handle to get the sms messages on my local PC.
My aim is to read the sms messages on my local pc (word or txt file) and burn it as backup on a cd.
I would really appreciate any help as I spent hours already on this topic and I`m not smart enough to get it done.
Thanks in advance...
I faced the same problem, I've searched all over this forum, but until late, I used this software : Smart Phone Studio (http://smartdev.51.net/)
It lets you save all your SMS from phone to PC, and you can also save them on text files with nice formatting
You can also backup SMS from your device, and restore them from the PC at anytime you want!!!
ah I forgot to tell that it also works for XDAs, regardless of its name

Do you have the program on your local machine to send it to me via email ? I`m not able to download the program as there is no version available at the moment ...
I'd appreciate a copy as well if possible.
Oops! its not available on the site & its not free anymore!!!!!
But don't worry, I will send u a copy of it when I come back home..
Ok, here is the file..
Simple steps to run it:
1. Change your PC date to March 2004.
2. Copy SPStudio.exe to your PC & run it.
3. Copy CommMan.exe to your pocket PC & run it.
4. Just click on the buttons at the left panel to access your SMS messages & use FILE menu to export/import messages.
Cheers
Thanks. I appreciate it.

You are most welcome guys
I've recently found a software which synchronizes you SMS with MS Outlook! SMS Sync for Outlook:
http://www.v2r-advanced.com/SMSSync.html
I wonder why Microsoft does not support synchronize SMS with ActiveSync, much like emails :?
I've found a new software which transforms your SMS messages into emails, which then can be easily synchronized with the PC
http://www.geocities.com/tomgrek/
anyone tested it ????
download source for spstudio (expiring by april 2004)
after some browsing the web i have found an alternative download source for the famous spstudio:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/cooldownloads/SPStudio.zip
you probably have to register at coolsmartphone.com (its for free) before you are allowed to download files.
also consider the hints given above (setting back the date of your pc to march 2004 etc.) for getting the tool working.
enjoy

help...
i am also desperately trying to backup valuable sms. unfortunately i need to back them up since i need to reset my device cause active sync is no longer working ..BIG PROBLEM...i cannot use any of the above tools without active sync.
any ideas how i can get the sms off my MDA without active sync???
thanks
woody
Since your active sync is not working, you can try to backup your files to SD card (use Sprite Backup or anything else to do so) and then you can hard reset your device safely..
Make sure it is the latest version of sprite backup, that software caused nightmares for me, after restoring I could not recieve or send sms so please be sure you get the latest fixed version.

but how can i use sprite backup if i cannot install the software ? no acitve sync, no new installations...
if you can find it as a cab file you can copy it to your sdcard and run it from your xda
SMS Sync Outlook
Hello, Regarding the SMS Sync Outlook...one of the requirements was having Outlook 2003. I still use Outlook 2002, does it matter? Don't really want to upgrade to 2003 yet as there might still be some bugs. Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
Bree :?:
Hi Bree (Kabayan?)
I am using Outlook 2003 for several months and as of this moment no problems or bugs yet.

TalkBox - how to get voice messages from iphone to pc
In order to copy voice messages created by talkbox app from your iOS device all you have to do is to gain access to your device file system with any free software (I used iExplorer ). acess your device and you will see at the root file system the directory User->Applications and there all you application data is stored - one of them is TalkBox (you will recognize it by enter every folder and check for the folder that finish with '.app' or see the icon of the application inside it). all the messages are in [talkbox-folder-id]->Documents->Audio at caf files (Core Audio Format). export it easily with your software to your pc. Cheers and Good Luck !

[Q] WhatApp Xtract

Hi,
I made a copy from my phone. In the whatsapp directory in databases are different files. msgstore.db.crypt, msgstore-2013-12-30.1.db.crypt and more with other dates included in the filename.
If I start whatsapp_xtract_android.bat or whatsapp_xtract_android_crypted.bat I get errors:
File is encrypted or not a database
no such table: chat_list
no module named Crypto
It's an htc wildfire s
android 2.3.5
I have all the phone datas on my pc, in the phone there is a new sim card, after activating wlan I have to verify whatsapp again. But it is an other number, the old card and number isn't existent. I will get my old whatsapp chats on the pc.
Can anybody help me to get the data ?

[Q] How to backup all conversation from my Windows Phone using an android emulator?

Need : Periodically backup all the messages of all my conversation on Whatsapp on my Lumia Windows Phone.
What I do now : Open whatsapp in my phone and export all possible meesages using the inbuilt option.
Issues with this : Lumia Windows Phone allows only that last 'n' no. of lines to be sent as mail (around 500 lines). So, in effect I cannot have a complete backup.
One possible option I felt :
Install Whatsapp on Bluestacks.
Get a copy of all messages I get on my Windows phone, on to my bluestacks
Access the database on bluetstacks using a file manager and retrieve the entire database at the end of each month.
There are many issues that might happen with this
Since whatsapp wont allow to get a copy of all messages, I will have to trick whatsapp to think both the devices are the same. I read somewhere that whatsapp does this check using the mac address. So I tried changing the mac address of bluestack to match my windows phone (it did not work)
I am in a mess now. I dont know how to proceed.
What is your suggestion as to how I can approach this issue? Please help.

[Q] Windows Phone 8.1 WhatsApp backup/restore

I've seen some threads about accessing the WhatsApp messages backup database files on iPhone, Android and older Windows Phone versions (7.x). However, none of the methods seem to be compatible with the WhatsApp messages backup database file found on Windows Phone 8.1. I am looking for a way to either extract/decrypt or restore an older messages backup database. Tried so far:
- Place messages.db file on SD card and reinstall WhatsApp. WhatsApp does NOT find the backup on installation. It only restores the most recent chats (not the ones from the backup file)
- Tried available tools for iPhone/Android (Python scripts with crypto 5/7/8). Database format is incompatible
- Tried opening the database file directly in Microsoft Access, SQLite Browser. Unrecognized file format
- Tried the Zune/WP Device Manager approach. Seems to work only with Windows Phone 7.x, Windows Phone 8 is not seen by the tool
- Tried Windows Phone Power Tools to access Isolated Storage for the WhatsApp app, but access to an apps isolated storage is not possible in Windows Phone 8 anymore.
- Tried the WhatsApp Xtractor, but it contains the same iPhone/Android python scripts that don't work with the Windows Phone version
- Even tried asking WhatsApp support directly, but they have not given any response yet
Can any WhatsApp / encryption wizard please help me out. I am more than willing to reward/tip you for it if the solution works!
i have the same problem ,pls pls pls tell me about the solution thx
Given that you already enabled full FS access on your phone or have control over an app wich has the ID_CAP_OEMPUBLICDIRECTORY capability, you can extract the unencrypted sqlite database from C:\Data\SharedData\OEM\Public\WhatsApp.
The structure of the database is quite complex (I suppose it grew over the years), but not too hard to understand.
However, I have no experience in using this mechanism as a backup/restore solution.

Sorry for broken link, I'm a new member.
I realize this is a pity, I want the Microsoft support seriously and updating applications
If you do not want to unlock / flash your phone in order to enable the full FS unlock, you can try the hack as shown in the Blackhat slides posted above.
It works by replacing an apps' core files with your own, but keeping the capability restrictions of the original app. (Use http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...p-customwpsystem-patch-xaps-wpsystem-t2975419 for example)
So just target an app with ID_CAP_OEMPUBLICDIRECTORY, deploy your custom payload and use it to copy the WhatsApp files somewhere.
Given the full FS access, is there any way to access the Whatsapp key file like on Android. That's what you would need to access the backup files instead of the unencrypted current message database, which is easily opened as SQLite database?
Hello ... I'm new here ... just wondering if there is any answer to this question ... I know it's not a recent discussion, but I really need some help from you guys. I have a wp where whatsapp is installed, but it's asking for verification and I dont have no more the sim card related to that account ... I saw chats, but then I made a huge mistake (opened whatsapp while I was online) and now I cannot access to those anymore ... I have messages.db but I'm unable to retrieve the key to decrypt that ... there are tons of posts about similar issue on android or IOS, but I need the same for WP ... is it something someone can drive me through? Thanks a lot in advance
If your phone has the Full-FS-Unlock enabled you can get the unencrypted databases at C:\Data\Users\DefApps\APPDATA\Local\Packages\5319275A.WhatsApp_cv1g1gvanyjgm\LocalState (or similar package name).
Or you can get unencrypted backups from C:\Data\SharedData\OEM\Public\WhatsApp
Or you can use a interop-unlocked File Manager App

The files in C:\Data\SharedData\OEM\Public\WhatsApp seem to be encrypted as well … Or can you just not open them with a standard SQLite viewer?

No, these files are indeed encrypted.
The winwazzapmigrator software did a good job migrating my database to a new android phone.
