I've been searching the web for 2 days and it seems no one makes OEM replacement batteries for our beloved Shamu.
Post here if anyone has the scoop on battery dealers or manufacturers.
Soon we'll see some battery failures (hope not of course) as our phones get older and wiser
Thanks and flash on....
Yeah I've been searching with no luck. My nexus randomly reboots and does the optimizing apps thing all the time but nitnwhen its on charge, so I believe its the battery. I would like to try a replacement anyway. Hope someone finds one or if any one has a broken one who wouldnt mind selling their battery

If you are running CM12 or 12.1 (maybe newer ASOP too haven't been running that) make sure you are updating your gapps package you are using. I found that I was having these issues and once I updated my gapps package it went away.

I was using cm12 when the issue started but I am now totally stock with the boot loader locked and it is still happening
Do you think this is an issue with how cm12 deals with the turbo charger?
My battery appears to be swelling so I really hopefully a new battery will solve the issue. I have found a company who will replace the battery for about £70 but unfortunately they are unwilling to sell me just the battery. Still got to be worth a go I think. If I take the plunge I will let you know if it works. Seems a few folk are having the random reboot and optimizing apps thing,I wonder how many of them are using cm12.
Thanks for the reply
I couldn't find a replacement battery anywhere so contacted Motorola in the hope they would replace it for me, i was expecting to pay a lot for this as i bought the device second hand from eBay with no original receipt or proof of purchase, to my absolute delight they fixed it for free under warranty and didn't seem to mind that it was second hand etc they checked my iemi number and sorted it out within a week. i'm so happy with Motorola for this, they have earned a loyal customer

I ordered a replacement midframe a while back from ETrade Supply and they stated the same thing about it. It looked the part but had one screw that was philips instead of torx and has some inset serial number lettering missing on the plastic flaps on the inside together with the CE euro logos near the USB port. I'm inclined to believe it's real because I think it would be hard to reproduce it so perfectly.
If someone buys this battery I would like to see the results. To change the midframe I had to transplant the battery and It's very easy to do so. (You don't need to use heatguns at all) just a thin guitar pick. I would avoid pushing a needle through the hole in the sim card tray as you will most certainly pierce or deform your plastic back cover.
The only thing that's got me worried with the Nexus 6 is the reduced battery life in 2 years, so having a replacement battery would be nice.

I just sent mine back for the back cover cracking. I got tired of it and figured now would be a good time to do it while we wait for ICS and while we watch the Xron rom become even better. But has anyone else had to send theirs in to HP? Do you get a replacement or the same one back? Is it a refurb? Did they finally fix the issue with the cracking backs so I won't have to send it in again? How long did you have to wait for a new one?
I have sent mine over a month ago. They are really quick with that process. It takes about a week from the day UPS collects it to the delivery back to you. If you are in Europe so they will send it to Hungary to get it fixed. Mine got replaced even though I asked to change only the cracked case. But probably they decided to change the whole thing because I also had dead pixel. You can't say whether the device is refurbished or new but so far didn't have any issues! Good luck waiting and I believe that you might also get another device. But if otherwise let us know. I wonder how many people get theirs replaced and how many get only their cases fixed.
they discussed this on the xron thread. apparently this is a common problem with the case
cracking near the battery door. from that thread they replace with a refurbished unit. you can have it sent before sending your broken one back but it requires credit card information. one guy had his replaced 4 times for cracks.

Crazy. I don't use the tablet enough to justify having them send me one first. Especially right now when we're all still waiting for a big breakthrough for ICS. Seems like I might only be looking at a week and 1/2 max from what some people have said. I'm saddened that some people have had cases with multiple backs with cracks. I thought the HP Touchpad would be designed well and not be another Palm Pre...
are the cracks cause by the hp case or just stress cracks from a poor design?
Anyone having this problem, I read somewhere that if you ask for "advanced exchange" then they will send you the replacement first and if you don't send yours back, they charge your credit card.
Beats not having a tablet for 7-10 business days.

No clue. I know that when the original Palm Pre came out I thought it was awesome until it ended up ****ing up twice. I just sold the replacement they gave me.

I don't use my tablet enough to justify a hold on my credit card and a replacement. My only regret is that I now have to buy a new screen protector.

tiny crack so far
I was able to land 3 32gb tp's during the first fire sale and I only se a few mm crack at the corner of a speaker on one of them. Could it be certain production batches were more prone to cracks?

Possibly. My girlfriend's isn't doing it but she barely uses it right now until we get Android ported over to it. I'm waiting for ICS to be stable before I do it because she's not technically inclined like I am. Though I bought both on the day of the fire sale.

I would recommended the latest xron rom if haven't done android yet. Latest 2.9.1 rom is working like butter for me. Just make sure you do a clean install and you should be golden. Might be a. While for a supqer stable ics.

Haha thanks for that I've been around Xron since Alpha 3 for CM7 came out. I think ICS is going to be a big step forward from GB since they're putting so much time in to it. According to Dalingrin it's mostly done.
Roger that. It will be interesting to see how ICS comes out of the oven for sure . Meanwhile I'm diggin 2.3.7.

Yea it will. I'm hoping it's going to be better than 2.3.7 right now. I don't want to give her a tablet that's always messing up and not connecting and stuff.
I've had my TP since the first firesale and just noticed the crack by my speaker a 2 weeks ago. I wasn't going to send it to HP but I may ask for them to send me the new cover first since they are doing that.
Mine has just been picked up and on its way to Hungary!!! apparently a bad batch of plastic was used and the "new" plastic shouldn`t crack

Heads up...
The advanced exchange is now a $59 fee. No longer a credit card hold. I just got this info from my chat session of dead external speakers on my 16GB Touchpad (internal HP firesale, August 2011).
At least I'll get the same unit back and it doesn't have case cracks (knock on wood).
YMMV, maybe my chat person was having a bad day.

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone had any clue where batteries compatible with this device are available? My device got wet and won't turn on, out of curiosity I swapped out the battery inside with a friend's and it booted right up!
I already tried Samsung's customer service and because it's not covered by warranty it'll cost me $40 plus the cost of the replacement battery ($51) Also the battery is on back order.
I really don't want to pay half the cost of a new player just to mine working again.
Thank you for your time.

Thank you very much, I totally forgot to search on ebay . I'm on vacation right now, I will order the replacement batteries ASAP. Thank you again for your help.
The issue is about screen getting glitched output. I don't think this is a software issue. There is some hardware issue because I tried flashing 5.0, 5.0.2, 5.1.1 still problem persists. Randomly at any time the glitched screen like seen in the pic is popped up in between from any app or just home screen. First i thought some app may be causing this but its not the issue. I deleted all the apps still this problem stays.

I've been spreading word in xda about the same issues. If you search the Q/A forum, you'd find too many people having this issue. This is due to a faulty GPU when the device heats up excessively. Recurrent issue in a Nvidia chip. If you bought it recently within 30 days on eBay, I'd suggest you return your device and claim your money back. Else I'm afraid you are screwed since neither HTC nor Google offer warranty if purchased through unofficial sources in India.

Now that what i feared. Let me see if they will take this back. Anyway thanks for the info that was really helpful
Unfortunately your Nexus 9 is toast. This happened to my first one and it got so bad it would happen during boot and I couldn't get any further. HTC was next to unless. Delt with them for 3 weeks trying to get an exchange. They are clueless. They wanted to try flashing stock image over and over. I'm like dude, I'm a Nexus owner. Don't you know your customer base? Anyways, best buy agreed to exchange it for a new one if I bought their premium protection plan, which I did gladly. But it is a hardware failure. There's no fixing it.
I just had my day one nexus replaced for the same issue last week. Had been getting worse for months. I called warranty service, told them about the screen corruption/noise/lockup issue needing a mainboard replacement. sent my tablet back and they overnited me a replacement that appears brand new (mine was mint condition as well). Still has lightbleed and so-so buttons but works great and I've put it through its paces. Only thing I had to tell them was the serial # but I was the original amazon purchaser.
Is it a newer build date than your original?
I had an experience similar to techiedj's. Got my old N9 replaced by Google a few weeks ago. Replacement looked brand new, but is actually an older built with slightly crappier buttons. Curious how long this one will last now...
These are the symptoms that I saw: At some point the screen started to flicker for a few seconds, then froze, and slowly turned black. After a few second I could turn on the display again. The area on the back next to the camera had become hot, but apps that read the sensor values did not really show high temperature (50 degrees or so). A good way to trigger it was to open Chrome and open multiple pages in a short time (opening different links in new tabs). Surprisingly, seemingly GPU intense games were less affected by this than Chrome. Factory reset did not help, even when I skipped the initial login/restore apps step.
Hopefully they aren't all doomed to this fait at some point. I have best buys replacement plan now, so this this can die early Jan 2017 and I'll get whatever the new Nexus is then.
Not really. HT4AJ I think it was, HT4AY on this one.

I went from an AE to an AF. Hard to believe best buy still had old stock, but I guess they didn't sell a lot of these. Buttons are nearly perfect on this one though. Way more tactile and the volume up isn't sunken in.
Wondering if this is a common issue with these.
I got this tablet for my son during the first "Tablet On Us" promotion last year and it's a piece of junk. He's had issues with it basically within a few months of getting it. The biggest one is it reboots and goes into a bootloop once it gets to around 30% battery. I'm assuming the battery % is actually reading way off, hence the battery is dead or about dead even though it reads 30%.
Is there something I can try? Flash a custom rom? Factory reset?
Thanks.

It's clearly a battery problem. I had same issue with my OPO. Just replace your battery
If its still under warranty, change it. I changed two (son and daughter ones) already. and i think my wife's one is starting to do it as well.. always happens at 30%. The device is great except for this damn battery thing.
if you got it thru t-mobile I bet it still under warranty. call them. or call lg.. But i think t-mobile is the better option. They order a new one for you and send it to your local store. you'll go and pay $20 for the exchange fee. If you go thru LG, the warranty should be in effect but you have to send the tablet in.. and wait.. at least with tmobile direction, you get a tablet right away. I rather pay the extra few bucks and get one right away. shipping to LG maybe $8-10?

Sorry, completely missed that you replied. I think I'm going to give that a try. Replacement batteries are $80 on eBay, not worth my normal DIY at that point.
I'll see what T-Mobile says. Glad I'm not the only one with the issue.
Bro today i tried readback utility and its failed.
But it worked with k3note. Also worked for lenovo A7000+ and successfully fetched recovery.img for both devices
Mtk drivers installed properly. But dont know where it went wrong?
I think oppo managed not to respond while power off.
And also i searched that oppo will fully prevented fastboot services since 2016
https://forum.xda-developers.com/r7-plus/help/decision-oppo-bootloader-fastboot-t3348114
So all ptovided resources brought Nill out come for my device.
Started hating my device.
And specially thanking for ur efforts made. And also for the time and patience u invested.
Anyone know of a compatible battery for these? Batteries are $80 on eBay and can't find them "for parts" cheap either. Curious if you can take another similar sized battery and just splices the wires.
just wanted to chime in that I am also suffering from this. Had these issues for the past 6 months and sadly missed the warranty period.
I had to fall back on my 5 year old samsung tablet for my son.
I used to work in wireless and my experience lead me to the phrase, "LG, Lucky if its Good.
I broke from this belief to give them a shot years later only to find nothing has changed with their quality.

Get the battery model number and go from there.
There's got to be one you can jam in there or solder in. If you wuv it -that- much.
Aliexpress/alibaba has batteries the only issue is the internal name, basically each model can have two different batteries like mine is the 46mm and there are two variants. Not sure why Motorola did this. Like mine was FW3S for a moto Sport 46mm.
I did get a new battery from China and a new display too and made the swap by myself. It looks brand new now even though I switched to Apple shortly after. Time by time I still turn it on and charge it so it is preserved
