I have just acquired SE Xperia Mini Pro u20i. It was sealed, new in it's box and so had never been turned on, never received any firmware updates, nothing.
It is running Android 1.6!! There is no support for the phone anymore and there is no support for this version of Android. Therefore nothing works on the phone - I can't install apps, I can't use anything other than the stock internet browser, nothing.
I had grand plans to root and update the OS but I cannot find a single sensible place to start.
Please can someone help me? I have minimal rooting experience so links with a couple of instructions would be much appreciated. Once I'm rooted I feel like I can manage on my own, it's just getting to that stage seems impossible, is it???

I would like to help you!
You can search for applications for android 1.6!
If you do not have a file manager or app installer then install the applications via flashtool!!!
The Xperia X10 Mini Pro U20i has a 600 MHz clocked single core ARMv6 CPU and 256 MB RAM. There is no way to make it work with versions of Android above ~4.4.4 Kit Kat as there is no enough RAM and CPU power.
Also the U20i is older than smartphones of this XDA forum category (Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro SK17i, Ray ST18i, etc.) so there is no way to make the U20i work with ROMs dedicated to any of these models. And as far as I know there is no forum category dedicated to U20i. There seems to be an Android 2.1 based custom ROM for this device (link) but flashing it would not help with browsing and lack of compatibility with most of the nowadays applications as it still is a very old version of Android.
Free Applications for Android 1.6 can be found at this site: http://www.mobyware.org
Hi everyone,
I was on a Moto X play before the Xperia XZ1 and rooting it was quite easy and you didn't have any troubles with DRM keys or whatever.
So I would like to know what I need to do in case I **** up the rooting process and to not lose my DRM keys.
I have a G8343 running under build number 47.1.A.16.20.
The guides to install TWRP/Kernel/DRM-Fix is quite easy but I wonder how I can backup my DRM keys before attempting that.
I saw a guide for the Xperia XZ1 Compact but would it work with my version?
Thanks!
you can backup and restore your DRM keys. Look at this thread.
Hi,
Is there no "2019" non invasive method of rooting the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet - SGP771 without deleting all the data? For example other phones with Magisk or KingRoot are done with just a few steps and then they are rooted.
What I´ve read about SGP771 seems very complicated
Sorry for bothering!

As far as i know, with the implementation of dm-verity, it's not possible to have root privileges without unlocking bootloader on firmwares starting from Android Nougat.
Hi, I am new to the concept of rooting phones and was wondering how I would go about rooting and possibly flashing a different UI like oxygen OS, or samsung one UI because I am fed up with whatever is on moto and if you were wondering I dont need any features of a Samsung phone but like the UI, if you can help then thanks, I already have adb for system UI tuner.
As per Sony support articles, the Sony Xperia Z2 natively supports VoLTE. However, the carrier must have VoLTE support in order for the option to be visible from settings. If it's not visible, I should contact my carrier for additional support. I contacted my carrier yesterday and told me that they support VoLTE right from the very beginning (of their launch). They asked what chipset the phone has (which is a Snapdragon 801). They then asked me to enter the "4636" code on the dialer to check if VoLTE provisioned flag is enabled - and it is by default. Since it's on and the option is still not available, they asked me to contact the phone's manufacturer for a software update to fix it. I tried reaching support through phone and online chat. Phone - no one's answering. Live chat - "Offline/Busy" all day.

VoLTE for Xperia Z & Xperia X series.
Hi Guys, After many days of search and trials I have managed to enable VoLTE in Xperia Z2 & Z3 in Android 6.0.1. But this Method should work on Newer Z & X series models(till 2018). Only For Xperia Z & X series Your carrier must support VoLTE...

The option can be forced to be visible by modifying build.prop and config.prop found in /system folder. The thing is, it requires root, and rooting requires an unlocked bootloader. Unlocking BL will remove my DRM keys. To backup DRM keys, your phone still has to be rooted.
I saw that my phone's firmware is a "GLOBAL-LTE_23.5.A.1.291" and at the same time, it is identified as "1281-1985_R3D" which is a Customized Russian firmware. Service Menu reveals that it is currently using "amss_fsg_sirius_tar.mbn" which I believe doesn't have VoLTE support because when you navigate through the system folder, you will see 2 MBN files: "amss_fsg_sirius_vf_germany_volte_trials_tar.mbn" and "amss_fsg_sirius_volte_base_operator_trials_tar.mbn" - both of which has VoLTE on their labels.
My question now is: If I want to have VoLTE option on this phone (without rooting), what firmware should I use? Should I use (Germany) Vodafone's firmware (or will that make my phone SIM-locked)? I'm not sure what kind of firmware that uses amss_fsg_sirius_volte_base_operator_trials_tar.mbn.
By the way, I'm using IgorEisberg's Software, XperiFirm
