Moto z3 (verizon, non play) root? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am new to the concept of rooting phones and was wondering how I would go about rooting and possibly flashing a different UI like oxygen OS, or samsung one UI because I am fed up with whatever is on moto and if you were wondering I dont need any features of a Samsung phone but like the UI, if you can help then thanks, I already have adb for system UI tuner.

[Q] Phones with untouched Android

Hello,
Can someone tell me which other phones than Google Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus and LG Nexus 4, has the original Android?
I saw a lot of phones that I don't know anything about them, like Huawei or other asian models.
I want to buy one without any added software from the manufacturers and hopefully to receive the new official updates as soon as possible.
Thank you.
The Nexus line (the phones you already mentioned, and a couple way older devices) comes with untoched, stock android. However, you could always choose to get any popular phone, and put a custom rom on it. That means you'll pick a version of android to put onto your device. A good custom rom to put onto your device would be CyanogenMod. It comes with no bloatware (added apps by the manufacturer), and if you dislike any app that comes with it, you'll just be able to uninstall it. CyanogenMod updates usually a couple of months after the official new version of android has been released, and from my experience that's always way faster than waiting for the manufacturer's version.
So, you could just get a nexus-device, which'll have the latest updates as soon as they're available and come with pure android without bloatware. Or, if you prefer having another phone, you could see which devices are supported by your custom rom of choice, buy the device and put the custom version of android on it.

I'm looking for a Lollipop rom without emui, but I need help with something!

I unlocked my bootloader and converted my Consumer Cellular variant over to the official OEM version and installed the MT2-L03C00B322 update from Huawei website. I absolutely hate EMUI. I hate how the status bar isn't translucent with apps, I don't like the setup of EMUI, I don't like how the notifications are, etc etc. I want just a strictly lollipop ROM, so would PAC Rom be it? Also, can I install twrp to install custom Roms after I did the consumer Cellular conversion to OEM? I had to install twrp for the first part of the conversion and once I did the update it automatically removes twrp and puts the stock recovery back on. I'm pretty fond of flashing, rooting, and more, I've done it with countless devices, but never a Huawei, and I just want to make sure I can do it before I mess something up on this phone. If not, I guess I will go back to my Sony Xperia C4 (which by the way, claims to have a 13MP camera, but the camera is blurry and sucks like none other HAHA)
THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!!
These phones are almost brick proof! Have you tried different themes? Emui is an acquired taste. Biggest advantage if emui us battery life. They had cm 12 carbon candy variants but PAC had the best battery life. None of those are supported so it is a limited field. Check the guide in the first section of this forum for more info.
Candy rom is the BEST !!!!

Tecno Spark 5 - any generic version of Android available? HiOS will be the end of me!

Hi all
I have a Tecno Spark 5 kd7s, which I now immensely regret buying.
I bought it after hearing a sales pitch from the lady, even so the specs are still impressive, and I love the camera.
Only thing, is HiOS (on which the Android system is based) is filled with adware, and bloatware, and there is no way of uninstalling the apps. The phone is sluggish, and certain apps simply crash. If there would be a way to remove this rubbish HiOS, and install a generic version of Android. If that was possible, this phone would be an incredible device, I've just had it with HiOS
If anyone is able to assist, it would be great.
Thanks in advance.
GSI (Generic System Image) is what you are looking for.

There are GSI(generic system image) ROMs, but they are built specific to your hardware architecture. Find out what your device's CPU architecture is and then try finding GSI ROMs for that CPU architecture.
Some devices require some modification before they can install a GSI ROM, you'll have to do some researching to discover whether or not you need to do anything to prepare your device to be compatible with the GSI before you try installing the GSI.
GSI ROMs themselves are "generic", but that doesn't necessarily mean that it works on all devices with the CPU architecture that it was built for and the process of installing the GSI is not necessarily the same for all devices.

Micromax Dual 5 (E4820) Issue

Hi,
I have a Micromax Dual 5 (E4820) smartphone. The phone hardware is actually good. However, there are certain software things in it that I am concerned about. It will be great if someone could provide some solutions/details.
The thing is, this phone is actually a rebranded version of a Chinese smartphone "Qiku 360 Q5" and it has an Android Chinese OS (Marshmallow 6.0.1) version which is called as 360 OS. It seems that this OS has been developed by Qihoo 360.
I came to know that this OS has a malware but I am not 100% sure. Here is the link to the actual post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...inge-ad-system-application-on-mt6735.4208933/
Now the things I need help with:
Does this OS really have a malware?
When I connect this device to the PlayStore, the app automatically updates itself. In normal Android version there is an option to uninstall PlayStore updates by going to App Info section. However, the 360 OS doesn't show the three "..." dots at the top right corner. Is there any way to uninstall the PlayStore updates?
I actually did not like the 360 OS and its UI at all. Hence I thought to replace it with a custom ROM which is closer to normal Android OS. I searched for it on the XDA forum but couldn't find any that can be installed on this device. Is there any Custom ROM available for this device?
If there is no Custom ROM, is there any way to replace the default Settings app that (comes with the 360 OS) so that I have more control on the APPs and their settings and permission ?
Can this phone be Rooted safely to have more control on this device and apps?
It will be great if someone could shed some light on the above mentioned things/issues.
Thanks in advance.

Question why the community for edge 30 pro is not that active?

5 years ago when i got Moto g5 plus. its community was very proactive in terms of ROMs and stuff, but that is not the case here with edge 30 pro, is it beacuse the phone is not that popular or its new? coz i am thinking of getting this or the upcoming moto frontier but since moto only supports the device for 2 years, i want to root my phone and install a custom ROM on it. does anyone know if the custom ROMs will be availabe for it anytime soon, and also if anyone can make a tutorial about rooting the phone, that will be very helpful. Thanks
The phone is new, not that popular, and motorola doesnt make it easy for custom roms either. We can probably count on some more popular ROMs like LineageOS as more people get the phone and demand rises.

thank you, but i dont think lineage OS will be better than the stock moto UI, i still love my moto g5 plus due to its support. Motorola should either provide atleast 3 years of supoprt or make the unlocking and installing TWRP easier. also one more thing i didnt saw TWRP installation in the provided link is it due to Motorola being more strict??

TWRP itself is on the decline since Android 10. Magisk-patching boot manually has become the more universal rooting method.
