Actually, ALL Verizon phones are SIM unlocked for the last 5 years or so, and the Rezound is SIM unlocked, although on the stock ROM it will give an "Unknown SIM" warning, it does not affect operation of the device and is just an annoyance.
Two things I see here, first is your firmware is NOT global mode (ie. GSM) compliant on the stock ROM... You are on 3.14.605.13 and need to be on a 4.x.x.x firmware of higher for it to work properly, the correct OTA update for you would be 4.05.605.14 which you can update directly from your version, if your phone is STOCK and UNTOUCHED... but seeing it is already S-OFF, it obviously isn't pure stock.
The good news here is you are already S-OFF, so just find the firmware files (Hboot and radios) and flash it with TWRP, then flash a GSM compatible ROM so you don't get the warning message about the SIM, and happily go about your day.
The bad news here is the Rezound was designed as a Verizon CDMA/LTE phone and not really a global device, so it is a HORRIBLE GSM phone, the GSM radios are poorly tuned and need relatively strong signal to even work. Most people who have tried to use this device as their primary phone on a GSM network leave it quickly due to it's poor network performance.

First, in the stock ROM the message app is hard coded to Verizon, try a different SMS/MMS app like Hangouts or Textra.
The GSM fix is to change the default network mode to GSM, it doesn't magically make GSM work (you will find on a reboot you will probably have to change the network mode again manually)... it makes a couple of prop.build. changes and is safe on ROMs it was intended for, meaning AOSP based ROMs, I don't know what happen if you tried to flash it on a CM or Sense based ROM.
As far as best ROMs go, it is tough for me to give advice since I haven't had a Rez for a long time, and my GSM experience with it was, lets just say less than acceptable. Many GSM only users like the ROMs by Sundream, personally I used Evervolv, Talon, and Liquid Smooth.

Hy guys i have a big problem and i need advice. i was using some rom ics with 3.6 sense and today it start boot loop then i decided to test this
Team Venom presents: Viper3D 1.0.0 Nightly welcome to the future. installation went great but the problem started there. it can not find any network. i tried full wipe of everything but its the same. it does not let me update radio anymore. everything else works. IT revolutionary shooter_u Xa shio s-off RL, hboot- 1.49.1107, radio - 11.25.3504.06_M, cid is HTC__001
and i am using gsm version
Your cid is HTC_001 right? Well that means your unbranded right? Well that could be the problem. If your not branded with a carrier your not going to get a mobile signal. There's nothing wrong with your phone bro. Since your radios are up-to-date of course it won't let you upgrade. Suggestion: brand your phone to get a mobile network. Hope that helps you.

i will try. how to do that?
That depends on what mobile carriers are in your region. Whichever one you chose, you will have to find the right stock ruu with the carrier you want service from. For instance, If you want Vodafone service you would get a shooterru ics Vodafone (with matching radios) ruu file and flash it through your bootloader. Now please make sure you find the correct one or else you will brick your phone. Now, to verify you are on Vodafone check your cid which should say voda_001 or something like that. Note this was hypothetical scenerio and used as an example. But you get my point. After you find your appropriate ruu and flash it. Call the mobile carrier and ask to activate an account with them to get your phone activated. Just remember that I nor nobody else is responsible if you turn your phone into a expensive paperweight.

i understand but the problem is to find correct cid of this network and the orginal is probably changed. It Vipnet Croatia part of A1. Do you have a suggestion where to look?
Ok after much research, I have reached a deadend. So, let me ask you this, is your cid still HTC_001? Does Vodafone own vipnet? If so, maybe flash a Vodafone cid might work for you? I'll try to keep looking, in the meantime is there anybody you know that has vipnet on their evo 3d that can tell you what their cid is?
last i checked (a couple years ago) vipnet was owned by vodaphone.
he's s-off and should have absolutely no problem downgrading his radio, so this is rather puzzling
also I don't think CID should have any effect on his signal
my best guess would be that since viper3D is sense 4.0 based it doesn't play nice with some aspects of the phone, try flashing another rom/kernel maybe, bottom line if i'm wrong you rule those two out,
hope this helps
Ok just checking because he was asking to write a vipnet cid to his phone and after looking through google I came into that conclusion that he could probably brand his phone with Vodafone. I'm pretty sure there was nothing wrong with his phone just needed a mobile carrier to have an active data signal. Thanks for helping me help him.
Have you tried using a custom apn? In other words: setting up the apn yourself? Had the same problem, i live in holland thoufh

Seriously, we are trying to help you. Your radios have nothing to do with your problem. You have to have an active service on your phone for all these features to work. Based on what you have told us it has to be a no service issue. You have to brand your phone with a mobile provider and contact them to set up an account. You do this by flashing a firmware to get your radios intune with your carrier of choice. I did look all over the place and cannot find a vipnet firmware anywhere. My suggestion is to flash to Vodafone for your region. Cid does not have anything to do with getting service since you are unbranded. When you brand your phone the firmware will convert your phones cid to match with the correct cid to have network service. I hope this helps you. I really hate to see you screw up your phone from not listening to our advice.

[Q] Does radio affect LTE capability?

Greetings,
Ive lurked on xda for years without ever posting. All problems are solvable with a little research and the help of our mutual friend google
Im on my 4th HTC device, now a OneX+ that was brought into Dubai from Taiwan. Having successfully rooted and rommed all my phones and tablets, I kinda jumped the gun and started mucking around with my phone a bit early, using the rootboot early on.
I attained SU properly, but I had the same problems as others that in HBOOT, the radio was "unknown". Unfortunately I didnt write down the original radio settings, so im not entirely sure what my device is.
Now with the latest CWM, I have a working radio, CWM and AndroRevolution 3.0 working brilliantly. Radio is being reported again as the EU version of .16
However what I wanted to know are the following questions:
1) Just a bit of confirmation; the boot.img dictates the radio, correct?
2) If yes, then is it possible to flash a different radio than the original? If no, then does this mean since my radio is confirmed and everything is working, my current radio _IS_ the correct one?
3) My region and provider has LTE support and my provider says I only need to enable it on my phone. However using the dialcode to access test settings and change through the modes, it keeps switching from any LTE reception back to something with WCDMA. I cannot even switch to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto. It switches back within 2 seconds.
So what Im trying to ascertain here is, do I possibly have the wrong radio, and if I do is there a way to figure out what it should have been?
The other piece of the puzzle is that despite the unit is from Taiwain, the original language when i switched it on was German, which would suggest it is in fact a EU unit.....
Ive searched through many tools, apps, threads, specs, with no luck in answering the question.... Any help is greatly appreciated.
Paz
1. Boot.img is the kernel and has nothing to do with the radio
2. You can only flash different radio versions by either flashing an RUU or by S-OFF. Radio is a security protected partition. FLASHING A RADIO WILL NOT ENABLE 4G ON A NON 4G DEVICE!! The HOX+ Inrernational version is 3G only. So in answer to your question. Yes you can flash a new radio, but no you will never have 4G on an international hox+

I do have S-OFF though, so is there a way to confirm if its the international version? The model is PM35110. Any reference online is always in Asian language, so hard to tell. I suppose international version really means all countries.
Bugger.... I bought this specifically for LTE support... :crying:

How did you get S-OFF? Do you mean an unlocked bootloader? because that's a different thing. Nand protection security flag, remains intact when unlocking bootloader. so write protected partitions like radio remain unaffected. Either way it's not a software issue. Its a hardware issue. The LTE device have different radio hardware not just software, So your device is either LTE ready or not.

Er yes, you are not confused, i am. HBOOT is showing S-ON, so I must have been high on caffeine when I was sure I saw S-OFF at one point. However like I mentioned I was playing with the rootboot boot.imgs early on and I was pretty sure I saw S-OFF then. But incidentally that was also when the radio was "unknown" at that time.
Oh well, Im stateside for Xmas and will give my dad the international version and buy myself a new one.
Thanks for your help

You're doing it so, so wrong.
A quick search of the model number reveals that it's the Endeavour C2. If you have an LTE version it would be Evitareul.
1) Wrong. Radios are flashed separately and are not packed into the boot.img.
2) It is possible but unless you are S-OFF you cannot flash one very easily.
3) The reason why is because your device does not support LTE.

[Q] Global GSM Only Works on Stock Based Roms

I am S-Off unlocked HBoot 2.28 Radio 2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.0124r.
I can only receive a signal from a global GSM network when running a stock based rom. When I try to run a CM 10.+ based rom or any other type of custom rom, I get no signal. The greyed out bars show up like it is trying to work, it doesn't say no service with the X, but it will never get signal. I have played with all the network settings included in the rom and on the *#4636 screen. Nothing works until I flash back to a stock type rom.
I would really like to run a different type of rom. I also had this same exact problem running Hboot 2.27 (or whatever the previous version was to this newest one) with the accompanying radios.
Please help. Thanks!
I am s-on unlocked and put in a friend's T-Mobile sim in on Infected (CM10.1 base) I have not tried a global GSM sim though, but have global enabled in networks option.

[Q] Can't connect to 3G after installing MaximusHD 10.0.0

Hi,
i own a HTC One S (16GB) device, am running a custom rom (MaximusHD 10.0.1), Android 4.2.2, Htc Sense 5.0, rooted, TWRP 2.7 recovery, HBoot 2.16, Radio 1.20.50.05.16, Carrier is Tmobile, supercid 11111111 and bootloader unlocked. i recently installed maximusHD 10.0.0 everything works fine expect for the network connectivity, i can only make use of 2G (edge) signal but i can't switch to 3G only. Whenever i switch to 3G only my networks goes off but when i switch back to 2G it works perfectly please i would be glad if you guys can help me out
You have the official Tmo version or an international version of the phone? That rom is for the international version and might not be set up to properly utlilize the bands of Tmo service 100 is the first thing that comes to mind.
Confirmed: International version of One S does not utlilize any of the bands for T-Mobile past 2G / Edge.
From HTC's website:
HSPA/WCDMA:2
Europe/Asia: 850/900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
T-Mobile HSPA/WCDMA uses a combo of the 1900 Mhz frequency and a combo 1700/2100 AWS band.
I don't know if I get you correctly but if this is what you mean my device displays either GSM OR WCDMA so that mean I have the official tmobile version
I'm confused...you don't know if your phone came from T-Mobile or not?
My HTC one s is from T-Mobile, pls can help with the situation would really appreciate it
Ok. When you installed the rom, did you also install another radio or firmware package as well? As in the one that was listed in the OP of the rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2445392 ? If so, that is probably why. The rom and radio are for the international version of your phone, not the one from T-Mobile. Now, obviously the phone are so similar that the software works on both versions. The only difference is the data bands that are supported for 3g/4g and the radios that interface with those bands. So, if you have never changed your radio like it was suggested in the thread for that rom - change your rom to one based off of T-Mobile software. If you have changed the radio, then flash one for the T-mobile version, and you should be fine. If it doesn't work after that, you'll just want to make sure both the rom and radio are for the T-Mobile version.
Thanks man, I think I messed up my device and a newbies to this time installation things. I actually followed the instructions given in the maximushd Rom, I flash the firmware packages with my tmobile version device. Pls what can I do to fix this I need your help

Are you S-Off?
If so: http://d-h.st/7V7 - It's a large file with the Aroma Installer to let you pick which radio you want. I believe you'd be looking for the T-Mous 1.13 one. If you aren't S-Off - Don't bother with that.
S-On?
If so, you need to re-lock the bootloader and run the RUU (Rom Update Utility) to get everything back on track, then you can re-unlock the bootloader and redo the recovery and rom stuff. http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo..._10.30.50.08L_release_309489_signed_ICS_2.exe

GSM or CDMA??!

Hi. I was wondering if my phone was CDMA or GSM. When I take a look in my settings there's a CL in my build number, which means it's supposed to be a CDMA desire but, after a lot of research on google, I found that devices with a sim card are supposed to be GSM, I already tried my older phone, a Galaxy Nexus Maguro (GSM) and it was working on this network... I'm kinda lost right now.. Am I supposed to have a UL version? I don't wanna flash a rom or something not made for my network!
I'm with Virgin Mobile in Canada, which is the same network as Bell Canada.
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: In the HBoot, its written ZARA_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RL in the 1st line.. so It's a UL with a CL firmware? the f***!
EDIT 2: With the application Network Info, It's written Phone Type GSM.. So it looks like it's finally a GSM but why the heck I'm running on a CL firmware?
