Yes, it will most likely void your warranty with HTC.
Your other choice is to do sunshine s-off ($25), which will allow you to unlock the bootloader without HTCDev.com.
http://theroot.ninja/
In theory, this then allows you to return your phone to full stock for warranty purposes; and no online record of bootloader unlock.
How can you help me coz I think I may not know what to do correcting the hotspot issue.

Hi all,
I've got myself a carrier branded and locked SK17a (Mini Pro). I want to unlock the bootloader to install a couple of custom roms, but I was wondering if sim unlocking the phone would change the bootloader unlockability to yes.
Thanks in advance,
Dillon
No it'll not change the bootloader status...even after your bootloader is unlocked through test point,it'll never ever change...

Yes, you can unlock it via paid method

Not even by test point?
Then wouldn't it just be more logical to unlock via paid method since it also SIM unlocks? At least, that's what I've read.

Unlock bootloader via paid method - Means you need to pay to unlock your BOOTLOADER ONLY...
And to unlock bootloader that have NO allowed, you will need to do it by Test point (and it's a paid method)
If you want to Sim-unlock,get the code from your sim carrier (of course you need to pay) :fingers-crossed:
hi
i just come from a cellphone repair shop(not operator) the guy told me that he can desimlock my lww for 12 euros but he don't know if bootloader will be unlocked so what do you think if i desimlock my phone the bootloader would be unloked?i dont need desimlock all i want is unlock my bootloader.
thank you very match any help would be very appreciated
If you want to unlock bootloader, there are two ways of doing it.
One is the official way, the other is via "testpoint" method.
Take a look at my guide (signature). It's a good place to start.
I think unlock Sim Certificate is also a good point for unlock bootloader. (Anyone correct me if I'm wrong)

what method did you use to desimlock you're phone?
I used WotonServer
It cost 9.99€ and it gives 1 credit to remove simlock and 2 credits for updating phone.
Repair shops use this software so if you pay them to unlock your sim you are just paying them more money to do something you can do at home on your PC for cheaper.
is real ics lite 4 working for locked bootloader ??

You can always use the paid method, even if it says "Bootloader allowed: no". Plus, since it unlocks your bootloader by testpoint, you don't lose the DRM and you can use PCC.
It'll cost you around $24 (there was an special $10 offer for all xperia devices, don't know if it's still available though)
is anyone working on unlocking this device. my network won't let me unlock it and i don't want to use a website to unlock. i need to unlock it to use a different sim card and unlock bootloader for cm11 and other rom.
For the sim card I believe you need the assistance of a 'website' (although I dont know if they actually work)
Or your network provider.
Who are you with?
As for the bootloader, head over to this website to unlock your bootloader with sony.
Note that it will probably void your warranty.
... Ok scratch that I cant post links
google this:

the bootloader allowed is set to no, so i presume i have to unlock the phone before it will allow me to unlock bootloader. how come no one is working on to unlock this phone?
Unlockinh the bootloader is unrelated to network unlocking the phone, as far as I know. But unlocking the bootloader will allow you to network unlock your phone by flashing a custom ROM i think, so I guess they kind of are related. I think you need to talk to your network provider first. That'll help. Otherwise
Try rooting it and go from there. If you can

we've got good devs here, i hope they are willing to help us
If a problem doesn't affect a dev, it is not his problem, devs also have their private life /job. Thats why a gratifocation might help (as amply as our pockets can afford it)
I'm a little hesitant to try a root method originally for the m8 then modified for the 816 or something, on my brand new one day old desire 610. Can anyone verify that it works? Does anyone have any information on whether htc will specifically add unlock support for our device? I've already got rom ideas if we can get it unlocked and rooted for sure.

Numerous rooting tools and methods but no luck whatsoever. I tried and I tried. I am not a developer so I can't help with the root. If someone has any information about this, please share it with the rest of us.

None method doesn't work. You must unlock bootloader first, but that's one more problem. I trying to unlock bootloader, but no succes. I was contact HTCDev, and they told me that sim lock is the problem probably. So, do you have simlock to your provider?
They haven't contacted me back yet. But no, I haven't unlocked my sim card yet.
Out of curiosity, which method did you try to unlock yours?

I have tried weaksauce and towelroot without success on a Desire 610. Weaksauce worked on early M8's, and Towelroot works on a variety of platforms, but not the Desire. Towelroot produced a reboot to bootloader. Weaksauce just doesn't do anything.
My name is Harold and I'm a flashaholic....
If htc unlocks our bootloader, I should be able to root with no problems. Just need to make that happen first on my own unit lol

The biggest problem is locked bootloader (S-ON). If we have unlocked bootloader, root would not be a problem. So, we must wait.
I was able to accomplish root; however, the device I had is s-off.
But flashing an insecure kernel gave temporary root access. I'll try to write p an executable tonight.
This was tested on brightstart devices.

Does Sunshine say it can do a carrier unlock? Because last I checked Sprint is CDMA, not GSM...
"Sprint SIM unlock features are considered experimental." If the M9 is like my other HTC phones, the command to s-on is "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" Note: this will brick a device that has any oddities that require s-off like mismatching aboot to firmware, etc. In other words, be sure you are full stock before running the command.

I'm aware that all phones support all of the bands they are just locked...and Sprint last I checked is one that Locks said bands and only "officially" supports CDMA
As I stated earlier, in the sunshine thread, jcase states Sprint carrier unlock is experimental and not guaranteed to work.
yeah i just spoke to them on chat. im going to try to ask for a refund

So you want a SIM unlock? Sunshine is the only method and per the Devs of it, it isn't guaranteed. "SIM unlock for sprint M9 is considered experimental."
Edit: only other way is to call Sprint and have them unlock the SIM. If it's not subsidized, they should have no issues unlocking the SIM.

Worked for me. Then again, I bought my HTC M9 outright from Sprint...
Edit: here is the stipulation on unlocking. Yes, the M9 is capable per this link. Please don't say carrier unlock doesn't work if they state it does and some of us had it happen quite easily...
