What in the world is this app? It is in Lollipop stock system app.
This app is having lots of logs in logcat:
W/ActivityManager( 1279): getTasks: caller 10162 does not hold GET_TASKS; limiting output
Couldn't find anything in Google as well. Is it safe to remove or not?
I have the same question, is it safe to remove?
Same here...
Yes if you don't use What's New.
Found the same app in the stock 5.0.2 ROM for Xperia ZR (10.6.A.0.454). Apparently this app listens for screen unlock events and records which app was active, and also records all app installations; every day it uploads the collected logs to some Sony web service:
Code:
https://udl-api.sonymobile.com/frontend/v1/log
On Xperia ZR 10.6.A.0.454 this builtin spyware can be disabled even without root.
safe to disable or no ?
Yes safe. I have it disabled and don't see any negative effects.

Have disabled thus from last week and seen a marginal increase in battery life

Since I'm not getting any replies over in the XPERIA T/TL/TX/V forum, I though I'd try it here.
Each time I connect my XPERIA V to the charging dock, the 500px app starts up. I cannot seem to prevent this simply by revoking the app all autostart rights. As it appears, connecting the phone to the dock causes some kind of "open any photo-related app" action. By default, the SmartConnect software will start the SenseMe slideshow when the dock connects. No matter whether I keep all default actions or create custom actions in SmartConnect, 500px starts up and immediately crashes.
Does anyone experience anything similar with their Android device and the 500px app or a related photo app? It's pretty annoying and so far the only solution seems to be either freezing or uninstalling the 500px app.
Tech note: I'm using a Sony XPERIA V LT25i device with the latest 9.1.A.1.140 firmware and Android 4.1.2. The dock I'm using is the Sony DK25 model which is built specifically for the XPERIA V and only provides charging funcionality.
Any help will be appreciated.
Per the subject, the application AutoStarts (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts&hl=en), which can be used to disable apps that starts automatically (boot time, auto) no longer updated since 2011.
Moreover, it does not seem to work in JellyBean, as some apps I know starts in the background is not shown in the AutoStarts app.
I tried Gemini, but it doesn't tell me WHICH service is starting, so it can actually break the app.
Anyone have recommendation for AutoStarts replacement?
Try Disable Service https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice it receives timely updates and finds services a lot faster than AutoStarts.

I tried that, but like Gemini, it doesn't tell me which services are started during boot or auto start.
I actually had an issue with the app that it won't stay since I turned off all services. I then have to manually try it one by one to see which one is required for the app to function.
ROM Toolbox Pro does what you are looking for, plus lots more. I'm not sure if the lite version does it also.
A newer version of autostarts is at https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=autostarts&fdid=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts

That's interesting, why would the Dev stop updating it in Play Store?
Anyone genius ??
Why I see the same apps appearing muliple times in Autostarts ?
Does anyone know if you can Freeze the AutoStarts app after making changes to the system and it will still work, or does the AutoStarts app need to actively be running all the time to function?
I'm just basically asking if it's a process that always runs and monitors for these processes starting and stops them, or if it is just something that modifies some Android files and runtime parameters and triggers so that the blacklisted processes don't automatically start on their own in the various specified situations.
Hi, I discovered today that probably due to play store and services automatic update I have some new wakelocks which keep the device constantly awake. They are GCM_CONN_ALARM,
GCM_HB_ALARM and GCM_CONN. Each of them keep the device awake equal time.
Has someone any suggestions what to do or has anyone else same problem?

I have the same issue since my Android was updated to KitKat.
It seems the problem is in Google Play Services: Location (it's that feature to locate you via WiFi)
I think they know about it. However it's hard to make hotfixes for some reason.
I found two ways to keep my battery from discharging:
1. clear cache of Google Play services and restart a phone (temporary solution)
2. kill all the Google Play services (there are 4 of them in my phone). Unfortunately it doesn't help if you just kill only a location service.
Anyway this issue is still not clear to me.
Turned off sync, now it enters deep sleep also sometimes, but still most of the time device is in active state

Use an app called Greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify to control apps causing wakelocks and battery drain. Works better if you are rooted.

Have you tried to greenify Google play services? It's not possible since it is system app and when converting it to user app won't work.

[Q] Sony Z3 Tablet LTE missing "restricted Profiles" patched with Wifi only ROM
Dear Devs.
I have a Sony z3 tablet LTE version(SGP621) witch Sony seems to put what they call a "android phone software on)
This means disabling tablet features such as "restricted profiles"
Did mange to flash the device with Sony Z3 table WIFI only software(SGP611) and EXCLUDING "baseband".
Even though I ended up with a Tablet now with "Restricted profiles" but no LTE connectivity
My question is can I patch/exclude anything else to achive both LTE and "restricted profiles" features on the stock Sony roms.
Im not interested in Microsofts CM11/12 or any other thirdpary ROM.
Sony is informed about their phablet....
Two options
1. Stay with KITKAT, root, install Xposed and install the multiple module app or the simplier way
2. Upgrade to Lollipop which supports restricted profile, i have tried it, myself and profiles are great

Well you have user support then and you have guest user. O I think guest user is the same as restricted user
Sent from my SGP621 using XDA Free mobile app
"Restricted profiles" is NOT the same as feature multiuser/guest account.
As it allows you to make a special user ex. for your kid an grand them access to your apps.
Which means you only need to buy apps for your own account and then share them with the users of your device.

Okay well as my experience all of my paid apps can also be accessed by another user as long as I allowed access to that app since the primary account playstore recognizes is still your account. So upon opening that paid app, it would verify that it was purchased. Have you ever tried creating another account and allowing it to have access to those paid apps you want?

Each user needs to have a google account connected. the sgp611 wifi version has restricted profiles. and thats the feature im missing
I recently found out that their were apps that mask them selves as a calculator but are photo vaults. I am a parent who monitors his kid by using the app called famisafe. I have noticed that the app Calculator Pro by iDev is used atleast 8-10 times a day. I can assure you that the app isn't being used for educational purposes. Their were days where the app was used for over an hour. Now i have installed this app and it doesn't have any games Most of the time during the day the app is opened for less then a minute. I tried to mimic the circumstances by using another phone and downloading the same app. I connected this phone to the famisafe app as well. The app only shows up in the activity section when its opened. The app does not open itself. Neither does it send messages or give popup adds. . The size of the app in my phone is 88mb while in my childs phone its close to 180mb. Is their something im not seeing? It seems like a pretty boring app to open everyday. Plus the phone already came with a calculator app.
