As some have written here is only looking for, then read. I also had the problem with the root, but the zdzihu has dissolved. You might want to flash again. With the link of batman_112 follow step by step and everything will be OK.

Haven't you been reading this thread or any of the others? If you upgraded via SE, non rootable, all you have to do is downgrade back to your previous version and then use the xRecovery + pre rooted 2.0.2.A.0.24 by Z method posted all over the Xperia X10 general and q&a forums. With these you also can enable JIT. Other guys didn't spell it out, they just provided links. I'll spell it out but I don't have links for you. Between both you have everything you need right here in this thread.

but i got my phone updated to latest useless firmware, and i can't root my phone
i hope someone found ways to root x10 with one-click-method, because i really don't understand how to use flasher / xrecovery
(EDIT)
Can someone help me, how to downgrade this un-root-able firmware to the previous one?
After downgrade, what i need to do is follow the 3 link above posted by xperiax10iuser, right?

HI XperiaX10iUser,
Thank you for saving my life
I tired the first method but kept getting NullPoint error, then i tried the nonGUI flasher and it worked like a charm. now i am reinstating the system image created by Xrecovery.
AgentJBM : i understand your frustration, however there was no direct link and the methods mentioned were not as clear for a Noob like me.
thanks all for your help.

I wasn't frustrated. I'm just trying to help other noobs realize that you're not going to find one thread with A-Z. They give you A, H, P, and Z. You have to use search and links to do the ones in between. I'm a noob myself, just a step of two ahead of you, who understands both sides. They aren't being short or impatient. They just expect you to be able to navigate xda if you're going to be messing with your phone.

Hi there,
Recently I have found that to move my apps to the SD card and to completely back up all of my app data with MyBackup Pro, apparently I have to root it, which would kinda be ironic cos MyBackup Pro's meant to back up my apps and then when I root I might lose all of my app data. :silly:
Well, I was searching the Q & A forum looking for a way to root my device without losing data and there doesn't seem to be a thread, so that's why I have made a new thread on this topic.
Thanks,

Just rooting your phone only gives you access to the system areas, it won't lose you any data. What were you thinking of doing that might lose you all your data?
Hi SmG67,
Thnx for your reply . It's just that I was worried that I would lose app data, calendar, and stuff when I rooted and that there would be a full factory wipe, and my friend (with a Nexus of some sort) said he lost everything when he rooted.
Oh, and is there a method of rooting where I won't lose any data for sure?
Thanks,

Get flashtool and press the root-button (the one with the padlock on it), it will root your phone and install superuser and busybox. It will not delete anything on your phone.

It's in the first post in the x10mini development section and in the second post in the x10minipro development section... You may have to enable usb-debugging (settings, applications, development, usb-debugging) on your phone for it to work, but other than that, just press the button and it will basically do everything automatically for you.
Hi SmG67,
Thanks for your help. So just to check, I just install it onto my phone, with no need for wiping or backing up my data?
Thanks,

I have never seen anyone lost data after rooting their phone.
I suggest you to use Super One Click ( find it on xda ) to root your phone.
Hope it helped

If i recall, that only affected the early nexus devices because of the way the internal memory is designed to be one happy unit, with no partitions for apps and data

Thanks

Busybox is a set of linux command-line tools that can be used in a terminal or by other scripts or apps.
Since phone-manufacturers want to ensure a proper and hassle-free operation of the phone, they've not included anything that can easily mess up the system, so it needs to be added later. Link2sd needs it to create simlinks and move apps.

You can go for either one of them...i use cwm but its personal choice..now how yo flash cwm on your phone..just search the forum with your phone name..every detail is out here..you just have to search.after flashing cwm just take a backup of your current rom to be safe in case something goes wrong and flash a new one.search for custom roms for your phone in the forum. The procedure for flashing it will be written there only.

Ok sir ill go with twrp.. Pls answer my questions above one by one if its ok.. What should i do right after rooting? What should i back-up? How to back-up? If installed another rom, can i still access my apps? Will the apps remain on progress? or it will be back to start again (as if newly installed). Thanks a lot!
After install the recovery, make a full backup (the recovery have that option, but I dunno where is it in TWRP).
If you're going to install a ROM, surely you'll need to make a factory reset (another recovery option), so all your apps will be lost, however, you can make a backup of your apps (and/or its data) using some app like Titanium Backup, and restore the backup after install the ROM.

hm.. thanks for all the replies.. how partitioning? when should i do it? ive read some posts about partitioning so i think its important, is it or is it not? thank you i really appreciate every reply.
It depends of your phone and your usage habits. If your phone have few space to install apps, or you will install many apps then maybe you will need more space, this is the purpose of partitioning.
How to do it... well, you need to make the partition in your SD (you can do it from the recovery, or from your PC using any partitioning utility) and then, to use the partition, you'll need to install an app like Link2SD (you can install the scripts used by Link2SD if you prefer, but for the newbies is recommended use an app instead).

I've just started to play with custom roms 2 days ago and nothing went badly wrong just yet With some precautions (the backups) and attention to the instructions you will do just fine Make sure you get the correct roms for your phone, because my first attempt to flash a rom was from a different phone model Nothing wrong happened, just an error message, but its a good example that you should play attention to the names and versions of the files!
good luck

I was wondering if any body knows how to check if the DMR keys arg still active or if they are gone after a rooted process or just to check thanks
It's still there if you've just rooted. It'll disappear if you unlock your bootloader, so make a TA backup (check the development section for tutorial)
Thanks for your response. I just rooted so I hope they will be there but if I want to check how do I do that thanks.

You don't need to check. Rooting does not modifiy the TA partition. Nothing can change this unless you actually delete it yourself. (then you are actually given a prompt before you actually delete it.)
You could play a video and compare them. you will see the different especially in characters faces.
I thank you all but. is there a way to check. just because and thanks again

2) if i want to return to a stock-rom with no rooting what i have to do? I have only to rebbot in recovery, go to advanced and then to a format data?
i know that this informations is spread around the various thread, but i don't want to brick my phone so i need a clear answer.

If you want to go back to stock, just flash the full Rom zip 2.2.0.
If you go the opposite, there is no reason you can't apply the other method to unlock bootloader & then...
But if you don't know what you are doing, don't !
