[Q] Best Rom for Galaxy s3/I9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
at first, sorry for my bad english. I hope you will understand what i want to know!
I search a rom with the best Battery life. It should have a relatively current android version have , however, is not absolutely necessary. It must also have a good performance. Whether it's AOSP or Touchwiz , I do not care .

Try Temasek 4.4.4 with boeffla kernel (zzmove configuration).
FOR best battery life i think touchwizz ROM was better.

If you don't care about android version, I suggest neat rom (stock) for balance of performance and battery life

You should go for liquidsmooth ROM. There is a lollipop update available and its also provide a good performance. There are some minor bugs which are need not to be worried and it also improves the battery life and also a battery saver mode is available. ☺

i think it's a battery issue. Flash 4.0.4 stock then factory reset twice to check it.

Siyah 4.1.5. and Neatrom lite works for me.
Speedmod latest GB kernel (I think it's k2-21) + checkrom v6. It's a GB though

Try this one, you'll get the best battery life anyone on here has ever had. I promise.
I use dorimanx kernel 7.11 + slimbean 2.8
In my case the battery lasts longer and it's stable and heavily customizable :good:

Seems all of them are the best. Gonna flash them all together.
The absolute best battery you can get is with Kernels that have MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled.Trust me. It might take you a while to find one but when you do, woah. Be sure to do a few data wipes after you've flashed the said kernel to get the most optimal battery life. I promise you it works, I did that and haven't needed to charge my phone for over a month now.

nice finding mate..
I would love to encourage Samsung to install this lovely kernel to all it's android line-up so we all can get benefit of life time battery life
Hi Guys,
I'm a new member so I cannot post in the Development Thread of the Super Nexus 2.0 ROM for the Galaxy S2 GT - I9100.
Galaxy S2's battery life is horrible as experienced by most people and I am no exception. So I was looking for a Good ROM with best battery life.
My search ended with Super Nexus 2.0 ROM. Its a very good and stable ROM. But its been almost a month since i installed the ROM but the battery life is almost the same as the Stock ROM. Tried some battery saver apps, but not satisfied. I would not like to change the ROM as its brilliant expect the battery life. So thinking of changing the kernel (Never done that before), so what do you guys think which Kernel is the best for Super Nexus 2.0 ROM and Battery Life.
Thanks.

that sound nice......phils kernel has't activated that right ?
going to follow this batterylife-optimizing guide and wondering, why he dont metion that "MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled"-thing

also I heared it could be dangereous to enable that....that confuses me a little bit

which one has better battery ? 4.3 or 4.1.2 ?

i think 4.1.2 roms better battery performance now i was using a wanamlite 6.8 but u can tweak a kernel for battery performance to 4.3
4.1.2 official roms give better battery performance also 4.3 official roms sucks for battery (like a drinking a battery)

Two questions before flashing an AOSP rom

Hey everyone.
Hope someone can help me.
Two questions basically:
1. Is there a way to get stock camera like quality with an AOSP rom? Last time I checked the picture and video quality was really really terrible in AOSP roms like CM, etc. Has this improved or is it possible to instal the Touchwiz camera on CM to get the stock picture and video quality?
2. What about battery life? I also remember it being much worse than stock. Any suggestions to make it better and more like Touchwiz rom? Maybe there's a good kernel that I should try to extend the battery life?
Thanks!

(1) cameras are mostly fixed and quality is also quite ok. I still feel Samsung was better in the past (whereas long time on aosp here)
(2) in the beginning, you are correct, battery was terrible, or at least less than TW roms, now I get nearly the same time out of it. (using slimbean)

1. Yes, it is almost the same.
2. Now battery life is the same, if not better than stock TouchWiz
I've gone through some AOSP rom threads and I still see people complaining about the camera
Is there some camera app that I would need to install or only use the AOSP stock camera that comes with the AOSP roms?

I haven't seen any complaints and when i'm not running a nightly the camera is great.
Cyanogenmod, I'm using it and in my opinion its the best ROM available, ive never had a single crash on stable versions (nightlies crash on the camera) battery life is great, performance is better than a lot of ROMs but not quite as good as Liquid Smooth and camera quality is also great. Beware that on the current CM11 nightlys the camera makes the phone crash so use CM10.2 instead.

Maybe you have not tried Stock ML2 yet. It is far better than 10.2 in terms of battery(according to your stats.)
I'm at 55% after 20 hours with 2 hours screen on time(heavy to moderate usage).

Heavy browsing around 40 min.
Whatsapp wechat intstagram twitter email (keep checking every hour) (no auto sync)

No gaming at all.

[Share][MOD][TWEAK]VulpiX V3.1 (updated 6th Jan 2014)

This is a very nice mod to make system faster and it is very good for battery life
Lets have a try and feel the difference.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2429923
Tested on Phoenix 16.7 , Hurricane 8
Tested on Android 4.1.2 thunderlight V7 + symplistic V3.6 and NEAK kernel V2.2 and working smooth. Been up for 18 hrs.. so can't tell if it will be better or worse with a few battery charge cycles.

why galaxy s3 working laggy with samsung stock roms

as i described phone is slower than my old sgs2.s2 was running smoothly 4.1.2 . even 4.1.2 laggy on my sgs3.now using custom roms but samsung based roms fail for me.is it only my phone or sgs3 fails???my antutu score with s3 21212 on archidroid.
Touchwiz roms are like this due to Samsung. Benchmarks show nth as manufacturers have some cheating methods to make the score higher.

Battery friendly.?
In my experience 4.1.2 as mg4 was the most stable and fast stock version. After that including 4.1.2 and 4.3 stocks all were laggy and had less battery performance. However, I couldn't find any aosp based custom rom work flawless or at least stable. Each one has its own bugs. Slimkat doesn't support exfat, liquidsmooth was very very laggy and cm has some fc issues etc. As a consequence at least stock one is the stable one.
