Hi!
I have been over most of the GPS fixes but they do not seem to be working for me. I figured I would toss this out there:
It appears that there is a problem opening the GPS if one has gone from the official Verizon MR1 and then to a custom ROM. Well, without knowing that, that is exactly what I did.
I had an older DCD ROM which was running with the GPS opened.
Upgraded to the Verizon ROM MRI and lost GPS.
Tried the Valhalla fix and still couldn't get GPS opened. Figured it must have been an error in how I flashed so I went to a newer DCD ROM.
Still couldn't get GPS to work.
Flashed to the Round 4 Reloaded ROM and am currently running:
dcd 3.2.6
radio: 3.42.02
I am unable to get GPS to open with Google Maps. It searches for satellites and a few minutes and then tells me it cannot find them.
GPS settings are Location On, COM 4 (also tried it as none), Baud 4800, Hardware Port None, Windows manages GPS.
I have gone to the wiki for the GPS fix for people with custom ROM's using QPST but all of the software links from that site have been broken for weeks.
Any suggestions?

Yes, if you had MR1 then you need to relock down to Pre-GPS radio status. Then do a normal upgrade.
I dont have the links handy right now but I am sure someone does.
Tried going to phone options?
Have you tried going to the phone options by hitting the phone button go to menu then options and click the services tab. Then look for Location and turn it to ON. It fixed my problem with this been awhile though i switched to sprint and bought a Touch Pro

Can I just reload the radio down and back up again without changing the ROM or do I have to reflash the ROM as well? I have your ROM set the way I like it...so far it seems great!

No, your going to loose the ROM. I think I put SPB BackUp in there just for purposes like this. Go ahead and use that. It works great with this device / ROM. After you do that pay close attention to the downgrade instructions. Not hard but be careful. You wont hose the device but you may not get the results you expected.
Post back any other questions or problems.

YEah, this is not like what you resolved yours. He has a radio firmware / SPL issue to deal with. I wish it was that easy.
Look for the original stock Verizon rom, its the one with Mobile 6.0, once you have flashed this, then follow the normal procedure to flash a custom rom, SPL, Radio and then rom, and you will have GPS. There is no other way to do this other than to flash back.
BTC
Well, I have tried going back to the stock Verizon ROM/Radio pre-gps. I have now been stuck in the tri-color mode for an hour. Exitbl is not working for me and I cannot seem to get back to any workable ROM.
SPL is now at 1.06 so I think I properly relocked. I just cannot get into the OS now.
Help?
Thanks Billy! I found the original WM6 Verizon ROM here (in case anyone else also has trouble):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376873
and that seemed to be acceptable to the phone to get it out of bootloader mode. Whew.
Now I will pretend I have a brand new old ROM/Radio phone and bring it back up to speed without going through the "official" Verizon MR1 piece of garbage.
Thanks to everyone for the assistance. Hopefully, my next post will say: done and have GPS back. We'll see...

Sorry I assumed you had the links. My bad. But yes, you would have been stuck at the tri color screen. That is normal for what you did.
I was able to get back to the R4R and now with the suggested radio following my downgrading to stock however, I am still unable to get GPS.
Now, Googlemaps just says "initializing" and then fails.
Now double check your settings. Under options in Google Maps, make sure it's set to Com Port 4 for GPS, make sure in Settings on the phone that your GPS settings are set to Com 4 and hardware Com 0. And then double check your location settings.
I bet you'll find one of those set wrong.

Phone: Location on
GPS Program Port: COM4
GPS Hardware port: COM0 (this had been set to none)
Baud: 4800
Access: manage automatically
Googlemaps: Set GPS Manually, COM4, 4800 Baud (This had been set to manage autamatically)
Okay...now, it no longer says "initializing GPS" but is actually seeking and finding satellites.
Holy crap Bill, you rock!

Yup, I had to update the PRI and was able to get Google Maps to work now. Still cannot get LiveSearch to get a GPS fix (it is set to intermediate) but I am trying not to be picky.
Just to recap (for a mod newbie)
I'm having a similar issue, but just wanted to clarify before I go about the break-fix-break scenario... I was able to get MR1 (with the Valhalla fix) to use the GPS fine. Then went to R4R and nothing. Haven't tried the QRST fix yet, but in my case, you think going back to the stock WM6.0 ROM/Radio, then back up to R4R (or dcd, or nuerom, etc) will resolve this? Will it 'stay' fixed when moving from rom to rom after that, or will I have to do the back and forth thing every time I want to try a new one?
Thankee kindly!
GPS and MR1
So if I am reading this correctly there is no way to get GPS working under Verizon if MR1 had been flashed into the device, then the device was unlocked and flashed with a ROM from the DCD 3.2.6 kitchen. Is that correct?

No, further up it says that one has to go back to the PRE MR1 ROM, and then go to the DCD rom from there (MR1 does something funky to the GPS?), but I'd rather have someone smarter than I to verify.
To clarify

I have rooted Froyo (Kaos) and the gps functionality is broken. Basically, the screen remains stuck at "searching for gps" and "follow route" on top.
I've had some good luck with an ap called GPS status, available for free via the market. Once launched, open settings>GPS & sensors>Manage A-GPS state, then click reset to clear your GPS cache...I also clicck "download" to pull sat info from the internet. I find that doing this every once in a while helps keep my GPS working snappy.
Also, make sure you have Kaos's most updated version (v34 as of now), and I'm running it with the CFS v4 kernel. I have zero GPS issues having done all of the above.
Hope that helps.

Did this.
1. Upgraded to Kaos's v34 (also did factory/format reset, cleared Davik's cache)
2. Installed GPS Sensor, reset status, download option chosen as well.
Same problem

+1. It would take like fifteen minutes to pop out your SD card, plug it into your computer, transfer another ROM, reboot to RA, backup your current ROM, clear flash+dalvik, then flash the .zip, and reboot.
Alright guys, this is gonna be kinda long so get ready. I was running stock 4.4.2 NEW and I saw that there was a way to get GPE 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 rom working on the s4. I followed all the instructions on RickGrimes's post and wifi didn't work. Not and big deal. I couldn't soft reboot, so I tried flashing gogolies nc2 wifi fix and this modem worked. I then tried to update to 4.4.4, also following the instructions and the wifi didn't work once again. I flashed gogolies nc2 wifi fix again but it did not work. I also realized that I had no service at all and that I couldn't send or receive any messages or calls. So I did the safe thing and used Odin to get back to stock. I am currently running stock but the service is still terrible in places where I usually get great signal. Also, my wifi strength seemed to go down from what it usually is. Another issue is that my contacts that were backed up in backup assistant aren't there anymore at all. I generally know what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff but for some reason I have no idea how to resolve these issues. Any help will be appreciated.

The easiest way to fix your phone or any phone for this matter is always to download and flash the stock tar file of whatever version of Android you were last on in Odin.
Then visit towelroot.com in your browser on your phone and root it again. (Don't forget to enable usb debugging first)

I wound up going back to stock 4.4.2 via Odin, but the problem still persisted. I figured out the my network settings were changed to Global instead of CDMa/LTE. Changed it back and all is well! Thank you though!
This is not a thread about me asking for help, more so opening the door to help others and provide general guidance with GPS issues on Lollipop.
This past weekend, I flashed back to ZV4 from ZV6. I rooted through Stump Root, installed TWRP, took a backup, and flashed two different Lollipop ROMs. I tried CM first, but am now working with Illusion as the SMS button was broke. GPS would not work no matter the fix on any Google Play Apps, be it a gps.conf changer or an AGPS manager. So there is the back story of what exactly I did, and now I will outline what I did to get GPS working.
I took current backup of Illusion and restored from backup to my stock ZV4 ROM. Lo and behold, getting into the ROM -- I found that GPS was disabled. There was also a secondary "enhanced" GPS option in the ROM I enabled from the same screen in the Location settings menu. (if anyone is still on a stock ROM, can you check for the name of that option?). I also enabled that option. I used "GPS Test" from the Google Play Store and was able to get plenty of satellite fixes -- "3D Fix."
I then rebooted to recovery, restored to the Lollipop ROM -- and GPS worked just fine. This is fairly odd, and we used this method to get GPS to work back in the OG Samsung Epic 4G days. I am wondering if its something that the Stock Rom and firmware can do -- aka turn on GPS, that Lollipop can't actually initiate and toggle. I'm sure Lollipop can "turn it off", but I am not terribly sure of this at the moment.
Anyways, I hope this helps someone out.
OMG thank you! I almost gave up on L for now because no rom I tried would give me a GPS fix. The locating icon only even appeared in the status bar for a few seconds and went away. I restored my stock nand, enabled high accuracy (I usually leave it in battery save unless I'm actually using it), flashed back to L, and bam, instant lock.

This has been a long standing fix, but again confirmed working for me. Brand new VS985 (Verizon LGG3 Warranty Replacement). Had booted the phone to register the new sim card and immediately rooted, Bumped, wipe and flashed Illusion 5.0. Tried maps the next day, GPS apps, etc, NOTHING would work..
Backed up that install in TWRP, loaded up Jasmine 4.0, booted in, turned on GPS, downloaded a GPS app, got a lock, immediately loaded TWRP, wiped 3x, restored my Illusion backup, booted it up, loaded my GPS app, and within 5 seconds it found GPS and locked in.
I can't claim to know why the stock rom would make any diff on turning on GPS, locking in, etc when a rom that does similar stuff and what googles phones are primarily based off of don't work.
This worked though and I'm happy!

I spent hours looking for a solution on this that would not imply flashing another ROM.
What fixed it for me was updating the gps.conf file with a proper NTP server more suitable for your zone.
The easiest way to do this is using FasterGPS app. You need root, of course. But works very well.
Didn't work for me.

I tried this method but it did not work for me. I'm hoping to figure this out without re-installing stock firmware.
Yes gps is not working on lollipop roms. I flashed 2 different lollipop roms, and neither gps is working. I restore my previous kitkat version copied the gps.conf file to my sd card, reflashed the lollipop rom and then I replaced the gps.conf file with the one from kitkat. It works. I updated the rom and the gps won't work again. I replaced it again with the gps.conf from kitkat, gps works fine again.

Sir,
I am from Pakistan. i have sprint lg g3 ls990 cell phone. I am using 3g cellular network. But when i enable data it always shows Edge not 3g. I switched network mode to cdma/ wcdma from settings menu but nothing. I flash several roms but no result.
Now i am on cloudy g3 2.5. But there is no change in my data service. I am still on edge data mode.
Any one help me what can i do to switch to cdma/ 3g?????
Thanks and waiting some support from u people.
Regards
Abbas
Flash your stock firmware using .tot not kdz file, but you need another lg flash tool that uses .tot and dll files, just search on google,or use files from this site lgg3root i just did that after trying several stock/custom firmware/gpsconfig files

If my Droid Incredible 4G LTE is connected to Wifi, it disconnects from Cellular Data. When I leave where ever it is connected to WifI, it won't connect back to cellular data. I have to turn off Wifi, then reboot the phone. I haven't tried something like switching to Airplane mode, I will try that. Has anybody else seen this issue? The phone is on Straight Talk Veriozon network, so is using SIM card for 4G LTE and CDMA for voice.
Are you stock?
No. Probably would help to mention that. S-OFF, partitions swapped and rooted CM 1.2.1 FWIW, this was happening with CM 11.2 before the partition swap. It wasn't happening before I did S-OFF and flashed CM 11.2 but I was also living in a different location for several months. It didn't start until I moved to where I am now.
I would try to do a clean reflash and see what happens.
I will think about that but I did a clean install when I did the partition swap and flashed the new ROM. I'd rather not do that again and have to set the phone back up again.
Today it seems to be better, I moved from Wifi to out and about and it switched to LTE properly.

I may have to try the reflash after all. The problem's gotten worse and now as of yesterday and today a reboot of the phone isn't getting me cellular data back. This did not start until we moved to a temporary place where I get voice service but not data at home. So the phone spends a lot of time on Wifi and not in a place where it can get data. So I'm wondering if the Verizon network is somehow forgetting about the phone or somesuch. At my old house, it was connected to Wifi but the data network was always available. The phone is S-Off with a custom bootloader and recovery. Assuming I wanted to try, can I put the stock ROM back on it without undoing all that?

That part I understand. What I should have asked was "if I want to go back to the stock ROM, do I need to undo the custom recovery, relock the bootloader, go S-ON, etc? Any other ROMS besides CM I might try? That could tell me if it is the ROM or not but, again I did not have this issue until I moved to an area where I can get voice, but no data.
You should be able to remain s-off. here are the stock packages if you don't have them, http://android.cmphys.com/stock-fireball/

Thanks. I will grab a stock ROM. I really like CM 12.1 (and the swapped partitions) though. I was able to get the phone back to cellular data this morning while I was on a chat with Straight Talk. Why a reboot worked then but not the 3 other times I have no idea. I'm also wondering what happens the next time this happens if I go into APN settings and change it to one that doesn't work, then change it back.
Over looking at the stock ROM downloads I see a link to this patch:
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/93484/
The ROM I am running now was built on 05/26. I see a newer CM 12.1 ROM dated 06/12 that contains that patch so I will flash that ROM, probably next week. I'm on call this weekend and don't want to risk bricking the phone.
I'm running the 6/12 build and it seems happy. I only run my Fireball on WIFI since I switched to AT&T and have a Nexus 5 for my primary.

Ive thought about getting a new phone on a GSM network but where we are building our house I can't get a ATT signal there, so I'm stuck with Verizon.
