Hey my new Asus GPS dongle just arrived i have attached some images of the performance difference with and with out it.
I was only able to test it standing outside our building but im sure it will pick up a better signal in the open.

Yep I did. No photos but I got an accuracy of 3m, lock of 11 sats and greens signals. I ordered the two dongles on the 17th and got both today!
Op should be able to get better results than that. try a soft reset(paper clip in hole underneath memory card slot)so it'll clear the old GPS cache. Your accuracy should be slot better.

He is holding it the normal way up, so yes, rotating 180 degrees, should improve the signal.

yeah..op needs to have dingle pointed towards the sky...not pointing down. just use auto rotate to have screen flip.

Which is a pity for those with a nice modding idea (me)
Will have to test when I finally get mine.
Just had mine delivered by TNT today, did not really expect to receive one so I am really pleased, it`s even the correct colour! If it ever stops raining I can go and have a play with it. Arrived approx ten days after registering for it.
Dongle received by TNT also.
After have a long time dealing with no gps lock with my phone I thought I would check inside and make sure the contacts were ok to the antenna. well come to find out they looked like they weren't even fully contacting the antennas contacts any longer.
IT IS AT THE USER'S DISCRETION
This should help take off the back to get to the contacts.....
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Samsung+Galaxy+Note+Display+Assembly+Replacement/16384
And the picture attached is the contacts you should pry up just enough that they stay bent up a little more then the were...if you bend them to far you could brake them off! So be careful!!!!!!
It has also been suggested to add a thin piece of plastic under the contacts to help hold them against the back cases antennas.
Before this fix I could drive 30-45min to work and never get a lock, after the fix it locked on inside my house within 3 sec of starting GPS Test! Good result!
I'd swear that's the wifi antenna contacts. That's exactly what I did to fix my poor wifi issue
Sent from a phone that's Note-worthy, via XDA Premium HD app.
This should be stickied. I just made the repair, and after months of no GPS, I finally get a fix again.

Both those antennas are in that location but those contacts go to the top corner where the gps is....
exlplains a lot, i always thought antennas required 2 contacts. i guess the upper one is GPS and the lower is wifi/BT.
thanks
im hoping this thread does get stickied! I had to do some searching around to find out this info to compile it for this fix.
worked. Thanks!
Plus one on the stickie. i did this and as you can see in the pic it only took less than 30 seconds. Very cool find.

GPS worked for maybe 3 months after I bought the Note when it first came out...it seamed like it would start to lock slower and slower till 4-6 months ago it wouldn't connect at all...it would see satellites but never connect. Ive been on GB ICS and JB...all had the same result with the gps. I've tried different modems and even odin flashing back to GB stock rom still the same story....im running AOPK Mile 1 right now with UCLF6 modem...

I personally did this when I was having GPS issues. I know it DOES work as before I couldn't get GPS lock now I can...within seconds.
And yes, there is always a chance you may damage your device but as long as you are careful and maybe watch some dismantling videos on YouTube it really isn't that hard. All I use was a tiny philips head screw driver and and plastic credit card to pry the device open.
Easy as that!
Well so far this did it for me :good: Initial testing in house was great, quick lock with many satellites in use. I'll be taking a drive later to see if it really worked. Never mind slow lock, I used to drop GPS signal often wile it was in use, so a roaming test is in order for me to be truly satisfied.

All kinds of awesome :good: took a 15 mile drive and it tracked my location perfectly the whole way and never dropped the signal or gave me the circle of vague location.
If you're at all capable with common tools I highly recommend this fix. If you're not comfortable taking things apart and putting them back together, try to grab a friend who is, and have them do this for you.

I just wanted to chime in also, my GPS is working perfect once again!
Thanks for the info man, I also wanted to add that I used a small safety pin to pry up the pins...
You need good eyes cause those pins are tiny, so be careful! Lol
Thanks again.

Wow. Just wow.
I was seriously pondering picking up a refurb or even the Nexus 4. I was at my wit's end. I figured, if my GPS doesn't work, what do I have to lose if I break something? So I did this, shoving a precision screwdriver under the antenna leads so they stand at about 10 degrees. I buttoned up the phone and finally got a GPS lock, albeit a slow one. After opening it again, I brought the angle to about 30 degrees.
BAM! From where I sat deep into a room with a window facing another house and a sliver of rainy skies, I was able to lock in my position in under 10 seconds.
Several reboots afterwards, each one confirming a quick position lock, I feel I can-beyond the shadow of a doubt-endorse this solution.

Good to hear that there was another successful fix! Feels good to have gps back again doesn't it?
Hello,
So I've been using my HTC One for about a week now (got it straight from a T-Mobile store). Just a few questis;
1. Battery life went down from 100% to 50% in just two and a half hours. All I was using was TuneIn Radio and Whatsapp on 4G (HSPA+ not LTE). That shouldn't happen right?
2. The camera doesn't always focus and in low light is pretty terrible. Not supposed to happen right?
3. There seems to be a gap/run off/sharp area next to the headphone port/jack.
These are not supposed to happen right? Does it warrant a replacement? Should I go back to the store and ask for a replacement?
Also, when will we see the software update that improves the battery life that is mentioned in here: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...s-techradar-s-third-5-star-smartphone-1149180
Thanks,
Crazysah
I too would like this update.

Can anyone tell me if my phone is having major problems or just me freaking out?
Hi, first congratulations for your phone.
I'm sorry , cannot answer your questions, but, I'd like to ask a question myself.
Is it possible the phone rings in your ear while you hold it close to your face.
this thing happened to me on my old omnia and its a very bad experience.
Ie. You press reply on your phone and bring the phone on your ear but somehow you didn't. So phone keeps ringing into your ear (LOUD).
Did you experience this ?
I have the same problems my battery dies really fast and the camera I'm not impressed I take a picture nd it's not as clear as it should be for some reason.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Anyone here who can help?
Also, here is a link to the pictures I took with the camera: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41094946&postcount=50 - Do they look fine?
Someone? Anyone? Please?
If you are streaming data for two and a half hours straight you will use battery. If the screen was on for anywhere near those two and a half hours, you will chew through your battery. I'm sure your phone is fine.

Yeah but I was streaming audio, not video. I do think my battery is more or less fine though, only died once on me. Will test out more and report back.

1. Battery life went down from 100% to 50% in just two and a half hours. All I was using was TuneIn Radio and Whatsapp on 4G (HSPA+ not LTE). That shouldn't happen right?
-As others have said, streaming data and having the screen on will eat your battery right up. You could however install a battery manager like "Battery Doctor" which will test it's health and give you ideas to conserve battery.
2. The camera doesn't always focus and in low light is pretty terrible. Not supposed to happen right?
-That's weird and weak, I bought this for the camera because the ulrapixel camera rocks for dark bar scenes and titty flashes. Do some searching specifically on this, I've heard rumors that there were some faulty cameras out there but a restore might also fix that right up...
3. There seems to be a gap/run off/sharp area next to the headphone port/jack.
-Yea, there were a lot of reports about that gap. It's a shame, if you take it back to the store and they have them in stock you should be able to swap it out. I went through three of the five units in my local store before I found one with no gap or dead pixels, but then I'm one picky cracker.
Hope this helped.

This thread covers the various gaps folks have found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197732
And the camera pictures just look like you're not quite used to using the settings yet to get great pictures. Spend a bit playing with the options and see if your results improve but it looks like if there is a problem at least it's just a software thing. If you're really worried cruise into a store and take a few identical pictures with their demo unit and your phone, that'll give you a good comparison.

Congrats on getting a true gapless! I'm not sure about the pics and since none of us were there when you took them don't trust anyone who says they are sure... Ensure that your lens is clean and go do an in store comparison, most likely if a rep sees that their camera takes much better pics they'll swap it out on the spot. I've heard of lens covers having fingerprints on the inside that caused blurriness so it could be something like that, the store comparison seems like the easiest troubleshooting path though.
Hi! i'm Boris.
On my amazfit pace, since 1 week, my compass doesn't work anymore, and that's why my elevation gain sticks at 0..... I never let it down, i made a factory reset, update, restart... etc... nothing!!!!!

Thx for your answers.

No!!!! It works 3 months and suddenly nothing..... Is it possible that the MTB shocks break or weakens the compass? My Elevation Gain also sticks at 0, there is a relation??
THX for your answer fzelle!
Yes, when the compass isn't working, elevation isn't as well.
As it is not a mechanical part, I doubt that you can break it with riding MTB.
Tried a restart?
Yes... shut down-restart, factory reset, smartwatch and apps update....
Maybe there is a way to disable the compass after a bad setting?
It's a strange situation....
...... my air pressure is also sticking on "loading" (outside in an open space)!!!!
Maybe pressure captor's hole is clogged? It's the small hole on the side at 9H, isn't it?!?!
Too much suggestions...... i need to understand.....

True but all those inertial sensors have moving mechanical parts inside, which is not the case for transistors :silly:

the same here! battery and compass issue
I'm having the same issue. Did reset and using official FW but compass is not working and battery dies really fast. I'm outside of china and the return fees are quite high. Have anyone tried to fix it by themself? I do not have the best experience with Gearbest support.
Hi all,
I have the same situation, few hours of battery and compass stuck on 0°.
This is my experience: after a month since the purchasing, suddenly, the battery started to last max 8 hours (it was 5 days with continuous HR monitor before! ).
I asked on my custom rom Telegram group about this and the general answer was that it was due to the charger I used, too powerful for the watch, and that I had to use exclusively my laptop's USB.
Little by little, it went up to 35 hours and I was wondering if it may be resolved with a battery calibration (if exists).
Didn't noticed the compass issue at that moment, but now that I found this thread I see a correlation.

That is complete and utter BS.
It has nothing to do with too powerfull, what happens with most cheap chargers is that they have spikes in their output.
To prevent that, just use a powerbank, that's the safes option.
same problem
I also have the same problem compass and barometric pressure are also not working
SOLVED
I have some trouble, n its solved.
I have try to reset many times, not work. Try to downgrade firmware(cause i use latest), not work.
Try using small magnet(from refrigerator door accesoris) with power is on, not work.
I, ve given UP. just try to charge the wacth on flat position, try using small magnet with power off.
I didnt cek after that, but when i wear the battery life normal again, then i check compas is normaly again.
u can try
note : rotate the magnet on watch
For me, it started with new update. Anyone else?
I don't know how face recognition is working out for you but I'm at a 60/40 success rate. It's like I put on a hat and the phone thinks I'm someone else. Surprisingly the fingerprint scanner works about 98% of the time albeit being a bit slow.
How's face recognition been working for you. Coming from the iPhone Xs Max. I'm not impressed.
So far, it's been all right.
I've tried it with a hood, with various expressions (mouth positioning, etc.), and lying down on my side with my head against a pillow.
Sometimes I'll have issues where I feel like there's no reason it shouldn't work (neutral expression, no hat/hood, sitting up), but I may have been holding overly near or far and/or at a weird angle. I'd say it works quickly well over 90% of the time for me.

98% rate for me. Even at very odd angles. I have it on my desk at work and within like 2ft, it can get me from a 70° angle easily
Mine is working quite a bit better than the iPhone X I had. the straight to home screen without having to swipe up makes it about 1000x better than the iPhones alone.

I had a good success rate until today. I had a baseball cap on and it would not recognize me with it on. But now back home without a hat it's flawless.

Make sure you enroll your face with a bright light on it. That is how I did it. Put the living room light in my face and 100% success rate even at night.
I have a 100% recognition rate, I have a beard and turban, this has caused no problems at all. Day or night, surprisingly good and quick.
The finger print reader on my replacement device however, doesn't work. 0% success rate.
Hi guys
My wife has the phone and it works perfectly and then just stops working at all. When she registers her face it works for a while then stops working again. I would like to avoid factory reset but may try one if all else fails.
For me it's when I wear a hat it just doesn't recognize me unless I aim it upwards a bit.

I'm on 122 patch 02 and it's a hit and miss experience, just like the crappy fingerprint scanner.
The Mate 10 pro was 100% accurate with both face and fingerprint recognition though.
After 4 days I already miss that. Otherwise the 20 pro is great.
I have an issue with the automatic unlock. I have it set to unlock directly when it authenticates my face. However, after a few days, it switches to 'swipe up to unlock'. I go to settings and behold, automatic unlock is still checked off. Not sure what to do. I've tried a few restarts
