Hello, I have changed my HTC's boot animation using root browser, but every time I reboot, it reverts back to the original!
I use a zara_UL and InsertCoin.
Is system-write protection off? I think it needs to be, whether from a kernel or s-off, because I remember trying to change the build.prop and it would revert without.

Alright, I was running Olympus XE with Bcblend 003 on hboot 1.30 and I tried unrooting using this manual.

Everything updates but system. System comes up fail in red. Everything goes through and updates after that and it says image not installed press power to reboot. I reboot and now I'm stuck on HTC screen. What do I have to flash?
Alright scratch that. I reloaded TWRP through bootloader and flashed a stock rooted sprint rom. I have dust underneath my screen. A large amount at the top. I have to take it in to get a new one so whats the best way to unroot and return to stock?! I'm having trouble with all the moethods...
Does anyone know where the splash screen file or image is located? I'm trying to experiment to see if I can change it cuz the blinding HTC splash is horrible. I've been looking through all the files with root explorer, and there are hundreds, but I'm not seeing it so far.
Just curious if any one knows where it is?

you can swap the boot animation but not the splash screen atm, its an issue of not having s-off.

Ya I've located the boot anim, so basically without s-off there's no way to change that huh? I was thinking, locate the image and then replace it ha ha. Not that simple I guess then.

You can change your boot animation by replacing the "bootanimation.zip" file with a boot anim of your choice. However, you cannot change the splash screen which is the white screen with the HTC when you first turn on your phone, at least not until we get S-OFF.
Also, its more than just one image. Its a series of images played back using a desc.txt file all put into one .zip file. (im going off of memory and the file could be called something else.)
An Invisible location called S-Off
HI guys,
So I went into the EPST and changed a couple of the 3G/4G settings like I usually do. I committed the modifications and the phone restarted but never came back. It will get past the HTC splash screen but will get stuck on the boot screen. The boot screen does not seem to be looping but it's been like this for almost an hour. Has anyone experienced this?
Hboot: 1.58 JuopunutBear
Radio: 1.09.00.0706
Thx in advance

Nope. Just straight EPST. I was able to fix it though. I had to reflash the official 2.89 hboot (1.58) which included the radio V2 partition. Afterwards, I flashed a stock rooted ROM and was able to get in. Thx for the help though mate.
I have been off of HTC devices for a bit and am at a loss as to why I have having so much trouble changing my boot animation. I have tried replacing the vzw_bootup.zip file in system/customize/resources but no luck. The permissions are set right. Does anyone know a link to a simple set of instructions on boot animations for the One Max? I am rooted, s-off, bootloader relocked. Thanks for any assistance.
Stock rom? If so kernel blocks any changes without read write module, and reverts any changes made

I got me a sprint HTC one max and started following the steps to unlock it. I did the boot loader unlock first and it worked fine. It now shows it unlocked on the boot loader. Next I flashed the cwm. That seemed to work fine too. After that I flashed the insecure kernel. And after that I wasn't able to start up the phone anymore.
It would show funky colors and boot up to the HTC logo and restart.
I did everything again and now I can boot up to a rom but only to the lock screen. If I swipe to unlock it I end up on an HTC screen. Sense doesn't start up. What can I do now? Side load?
I can't get to finish the soft from rumrunner because after it boots up it only stays on for so long before the reboot.
I'm new to the HTC one but not to flashing.
Which ROM did you flash? do tell us what CID / Model your phone is

Use Firewater to S-Off. Rumrunner won't work on some versions of Android, especially 4.4.2.
I had the same exact problem you're having now, with the funky colors. You might be hard-bricked, just like I was. DO NOT FORMAT ANYTHING, or you'll lose your stock ROM, and there doesn't seem to be a stock ROM available, right now. If you already have, get ViperMAX 2.0.0 as your new OS. It's as close to stock as our models can get right now, and it ROCKS.
Check out the thread, I started, on this issue and subscribe to it. I have a feeling we'll get some great peeps to help us out!
Note the programs I'm using as well. Might help. I spent 20+ hours on this.
