Hi everyone !
i have using a Samsung Galaxy S3 for one month now... and Cyanogenmod 9 for 2 weeks already.
I know about it since i have already been using Cyanogenmod for a year and a hlf on my previous phone.
My problem is very simple :
when i connect my phone to the computer, i have a screen asking me to choose a conexion type :
- MTP
- PTP
- UMS
the problem is that the last one (USB Mass Storage) is greyed out and i cannot choose it !!??
i have been searching xda forums without success about it...
My microSD is formatted in FAT32 (exFAT does not work with cyanogen)
My question now :
can anybody tell me if it works for him ? (galaxy s3 + CM9RC2 or nightly + FAT32 microSD + windows + UMS)
thanks a lot !
and thanks for the amazing work done by cyanogen team...
no answer ??
come on guys !
- samsung Galaxy s3 => best phone ever
- cyanogenmod => best rom
so i am shure we are a lot using this config !
still : have a nice day !

i think samsung may have done the most stupid mistake and remove kernel support, its not on stock firmware either
Try the SGS3 Easy UMS. Search XDA.
thanks for your answers, but :
- easy UMS is meant for stock roms and derivates... which is not the case regarding CM.
so if anybody using SGS3 + CM9 could check on his phone, please confirm me !
here is what it should look like :
http :// img.tapatalk.com/bef6d0b6-a992-883a.jpg
but for me, third option is greyed... so i cannot select it...
thks

No USB Mass-Storage is part of ICS, not Samsung phones.
It doesn't work for me either, maybe it's not supported yet?
I am running CM9 too and UMS works every now and then. ES File explorer seems to continuously scan the extsd though so sometimes it takes a couple of tries until it's mounted

well... in fact, according to what i've read, ICS does include UMS... but only for external SD cards...
Anyway, the fact that the option is visible in the usb share screen in cyanogen makes me think that it is/will be a part of CM.
therefore the question is :
- do my phone has a problem ?
- or is it a future option that CM team is currently developping ? (and yet not finished ?)
But Samusung definitely did not want us to get it...
PS : i just installed the latest nightly build of CM9 (android 4.0.4) on a galaxy S2 and i get UMS ! (through an 'android 2.3 style' usb share screen)

At least in CM10 Preview the kernel modules are present but it does not react to the commands.
It works just fine on my Galaxy SII (i777) running cm9. And it mounts both the internal and external SD cards in mass storage mode. However, I have a galaxy tab 10.1 that the option is also grayed out on. I am guessing each device has different drivers associated with UMS which may be why it isn't working on all devices yet. But, it definitely is not a problem in CM9... More the device it sits on.
Since a few days my phone says it has ''insufficient storage capacity'' I searched the internal memory but it says I have approximately 8GB free... I heard that more Samsung phones got this problem, because the (real) internal memory is way lesser than it says.
So my question now, what to do ? I dont have Titanium Backup installed so I cant do that trick. Phone is rooted and CM11 installed.
Phone info:
- Samsung Galaxy SIII International
- KitKat 4.4.2
- CyanogenMod 11 ( Snapshot M3 )

Try rebooting to see if it refreshes the stats. If not go to recovery and clear cache. If others do not have a suggestion, u might have to wipe data. Also, may I ask wat was ur previous rom before cm11? Wat is the android version?

Official builds are made by CM Team.
Edit:The only way to update this rom is to download the new rom and flash it with cwm.
Edit2: Usually there are official builds only for most popular (flagship) devices.

Internal Memory
Sorry, didnt notice the FAQ section.
So yea, i have 1gb+ internal memory out of 5gb+
And yes, wiping data does not remove any personal stuff.
The thing is, its empty and yet shows this much space.

Since you are talking about a total of 5gb I guess you are talking about what is classed as the emulated internal SD card. Like mentioned above, when wiping before flashing the ROM this partition is not affected at all as the ROM is installed in root and not the emulated storage. So any files you had there prior to flashing the new ROM will still be there.
If you deleted everything on the 5gb partition from a PC, then there is the possibility that if these were placed in the recycle bin and therefore not actually remove but kept for possible recovery (taking up storage space). I don't know if that is the problem in your case but since it has happened to me once in the past I wanted to share my thoughts.

Hey Maniakk you mentioned that after changing from interactive your battery got drained, did you managed to charge your phone? mine did the same and it looks like its dead wont turn on.
ok managed to fix it had to short out the legs with a screwdriver, before that i charged it for like 45mins and nothing happened battery was cold as ice.
Did anyone face this bug,
1) Call someone
2) Press the dialer to send dial tones over to the receiver
The dialer will not come out fully. Only has the 1 2 3 buttons visible.
Sometimes pressing back and dialer, may not work.
Side note: To fix the problem with the dialer not appearing when you want to make a call...
Problem: Press phone icon, press the dialer button. You will NOT see the dialer
Solution: Press back button and dialer again and you will see the dialer
'Permanent solution': Ensure your animator duration scale is at least 0.5 under development settings.
In a way, when you mentioned emulated.
I checked under clockworkmod folder and saw my previous backup more than 4gb lol.
Now I've gained the missing space.
Thanks and keep up the amazing work.
I've used the ROM for 1 whole day now and cant find any problem. Just that I'm using dalvik instead or art, since I can't install a few apps with art.

It will not work unless you also flash TWRP for v1awifi (P900), unless of course you have the incorrect one installed. However, there's a T900 modded version available in the general thread for the last few days.
FYI even the civz rom for Note pro P900 works fine on tab pro T900 without any modification. Just flash it via twrp
Also all spen functions works perfect. Running it for last 1 week without any issues.

You will not able to boot, as there are more problems than you can imagine; a lot of the drivers differ between the two devices. However, the original port for the ROM was crpalmer's 10.1 wifi | T520, why there is no need to try re-inventing anything.
I know this is going to sound stupid, but my first foray into modding tablets. Have done many phones, currently on the note 4. with FireKat ROM
My question is, should I put this rom on my Tab Pro 12.2 will this also provide me with the ability to use the Stylus from my Note 4 on it? I am thinking it probably will not but decided it wouldnt hurt to ask. Thanks in advance for any replies

There's no true stylus support for the T-900, the screen is not adapted for that type of sensitivity. However, you can still use the stylus, even though it will not be a perfect design or handwriting, for that you vill need the P-900 (Note Pro 12.2).

I can share with you a simple and minimal Android rom that could make the ace completely usable in 2018... Would you be interested?
I think that the best idea is to use Android 2.3 as base (no bloatware, no TouchWiz, and no Android 4.4 that just crazily drains battery)
I' ve tested less known apps that can still run on 2.3 (and found them very fast too). I will replace old system apps with them
I also thought that a good way to push the Ace beyond it's limit is to take a look at the Sony Xperia Play threads on xda. This phone has the same cpu/gpu and it has been supported a lot through the years (being a gaming phone, Devs has done their best to optimize performance instead of themes and useless functions)
Let me know what you want to see in this rom and I'll try to do it!
Just leave a comment with an advice :fingers-crossed:

Hi jaymor,
Regarding 4.4 :
the 4.4. battery consuption problem is caused by Jellybean itself. Devs that made 4,4 roms made a wonderful job, but the the ace hardware doesn't have enough power to work on a so new new/heavy os.
Regarding Whatsapp :
I don't see any reason to don't use WA on Android 2.3
1) they stopped updating it just 4 months ago (I don't know if you have the latest version)
2) they aren't adding new features, and the most important one that is messages criptografy is supported on 2.3
3) WA does nothing else that increasing in size with each version, and you just tell us how limited storage could be annoying on old devices
Regarding GT-S5839i
I checked its specs, it seems to have 158mb of rom and support for micro-sds up to 32gb. Using a custom rom you shouldn't worry about memory.
Unfortunately you can't flash my rom (it's for s5830) I'll surely make a rom also for this device if I had a device for testing it, but first of all I have to complete this rom
Hi Mich-C.
I agree with you : Whatsapp work for now on 2.3, but they announced (I cant post link in XDA, but search Google for "WhatsApp-support-for-mobile-devices" ) it will not work anymore in 2020. Same for Symbian and iOS 6 (and old dino-smartphone).
Not a big deal, but if I could refurb this phone to my kids for free, it will be cool.

Well, it's a very nice rom but I find useless to fuse both the look of iOS and LineageOS on a CyanogenMod rom, it would be better If he just made a pure iOS or LineageOS looklike rom.
I like the fact that he didn't install GApps and the full Facebook app, I won't include them too in my rom too! (I'll try to do it without losing features)
My rom should also be faster than this one, or at the least I hope so
@Mich-C haven't you shared your ROM eventually? I'd be interested too.
Hi @Erpinoob
I'm sorry for making you and other users wait, the reasons are
1)I'm busy for the university
2)Recently I got a boot-loop I'm going to fix
3)I don't want to release 99999 versions of the rom
4)I'm including several "old" tools for android 2.3, often links are not working and so I'm still waiting for developers to provide me new links
4)I'm learning how to develop apps in Android Studio at the university, and I'm taking advantage of this creating 2-3 exclusive apps for my rom
I hope to finish the rom after christmas holidays, anyway I'll tag in the post all those who left a comment in this thread
