Hi All,
I have a Motorola Droid X2 with android 2.3.5. I really want to upgrade to the latest version of Android.
I did a google search, and find this link that has lollipop available for Droid X2,
rom-lollipop.org/mp3-0/motorola-droid-x2-3959.html
I tried to download the files from the provided link. The "ROM Part I" was successfully downloaded to my computer,
however, the 2nd and the 3rd parts just won't be downloaded successfully no matter what tricks I tried, and how many times I tried.
Has anyone here try this link to see if you can successfully download the lollipop and install it to your Droid X2 ?
Or it is simply a fake link not worth of our efforts at all.
Thank you very much !!

I have the same question. I did what the razrguy said, now wirelesss connectivity is very slow responding (especially gps & apps like whatsapp * wordfeud), headphone jack not working (speaker still plays when inserting headphone), FLAC files not supported. ICS ****ed up my phone, even after going back to 2.3.6.

I don't know if this will let me post a link yet, but the "Literally Fool Proof Guide To Installing .211 (ICS)" (Google that) was the guide that got the update installed for me. It involved wiping the phone, but it's worth it since I had the time to go through my Titanium backups, etc. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692694
EDIT: BTW, I had to get Version 1.7 of Matt's DroidRAZRUtility to re-root after installing ICS 4.0.4 (i.e. the .211 update). Version 1.6 didn't root it. I did not need the "Modified" version 1.6, though; did the fastboot flashing with Matt's 1.6-final. I also had to install updated Motorola drivers (came with DroidRAZRUtility1.7forICS.zip) to reroot.

Hi all experts,
I have been dying to upgrade my Razr to ICS, and trying hard on the various guides in this forum....but no luck
I have used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1757766 this guid as well, and went through all the pages but could not find any solutions.
Currently (Still) :crying:I am having following specs with my Razr (With Clockwork Mod)
System Version:- 65.1.40.XT910.PSHAsiaRetail.en.03
Android Version:- 2.3.6 (GB)
Build Number:- 6.5.1-167-SPD-IRD-40
Build Date:- 6th Feb
I have also tried by restoring to factory settings and erasing the cache, but had serial 7 error everytime I tried the OTA file from the above link. My phone is rooted, so also tried by temporarily unrooting it through OTA Rootkeeper.
Tried all these premutations and combinations, but no luck:crying:
I would appreciate if some one could guied me on what to do to have my Razr running on ICS. Thanks all

Is it the fastboot.exe file which is installed after installing Android SDK? If not, can you provide me the link because I have already cursed google for not giving me any link to this file. Also do we need to install the 2 files mentioned in point 1 & 2, through RSD lite?

Since your are on 2.3.6 . You need to download GB fastboot from post #2 . I believe that file is around 800mb. RSD Flash this file to apfast boot mode . Then update ota. You don't need to flash any boot.img or system sign.

Device of mass distraction
I've just made the mistake of purchasing a Chinese Razr Maxx directly from Motorola China... and now I really regret it because I can't seem to install apps from Google Play. I called Motorola customer service and they told me Chinese versions cannot access the Play store. #[email protected]$^&
Anyways, I have jail-broken iPhones and installed custom ROM on Windows Mobile devices before. But noob with Android devices. I had someone help me root the device and installed some Google apps. Gmail works but not the Play store or Google Plus - just keeps saying "No connection" ; maps seems to work but it does flash "unable to sign in". This is not an internet issue as web browsing works fine during this time. The weird thing is that I was able to register my gmail account through the Play store. I've also tried the above while connected to my Hong Kong VPN server, so it seems like there's some internal tweaking that's preventing the phone from accessing google services.
SU and Razr Bootstrapper are installed. System ver is 67.145.910.xt910.ChinaRetail.en.CN / Kernal ver 3.0.8-g22ffb19.
My question is, how can I install either an Hong Kong ROM (where I presume you can d/l from Play store), or an international/3rd party ROM that works with Asian carriers and let's me install from the Play store?
I have searched the forums but didn't seem to find a comprehensive guide regarding this issue. I bought the Maxx for its battery capacity, now it's a MAXX pain in the ass!!!
Please HELP!!!!
IMHO, Miui ROM would be your fast and easy solution.
I'm currently running MIUI 2.8.x on my Razr as i'm typing, it smooths as hell
Oh, and you need Bootmenu manager 0.2.7 to install MIUI.
Good luck!

Thank you for your advice! I've read the installation instructions on MIUI, but they only mention ROM Manager. Can it be used instead of Bootmenu manager or do I need to add a step during the installaion?
Also, based on MIUI's Chinese site, Official Chinese versions of the phone cannot be flashed.... Is your phone the official China version?

Hi!
Here's the guide you'll need to run bootmenu 0.27 and flash gapps as theZest suggested:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792955
You don't need to run a custom rom to have Play Store. Just run bootmenu and flash the gapps provided in the thead.
Cheers
Yeah, just install the gapps will solved unless you wanna some differ way and more modified features
BTW if you are in China there's another app you'd better installed called SmartHosts. That will help you connecting to the Google and some other site much more stable......because they had been blocked by GFW
BTW I'm in china too, and the damn network has makes me so annoyed........

Thanks your advice Pedrotorresfilho! Although I didn't see a link on the tread to d/l gapps directly, I did located it on goo.im and d/l the file for Cynogenmod 9 - gapps-ics-20120429-signed zip. Is this the correct one for my phone?
Also, the guy that rooted my phone had installed gamil, maps, google+, google talk etc on my phone (not sure if he installed the APK or via flashing). But without exception, I'm unable to login to google account through them. e.g when I run Maps, the map itself work fine but I get a constantly repeating "unable to sign in" message; or when I run Play store, it just shows "no connection" and repeatedly pressing the retry button does very little. Out of maybe 50 or so attempts, I was only able to connect to the Play store 1 time. This is happening while other internet activities on the phone works fine.
It's also strange that I was able to setup 1 gmail account, but not a 2nd one. So I've deleted them and reverted back to using the Mail app that came with the phone.

Thanks Loachh!!! I think SmartHosts did the trick! I'm now able to d/l and install from Play store! Interestingly, I wasn't able to d/l while on the HK VPN, but didn't seem to be any problems after installing SmartHosts!

I just love my chinese version of razr (which is a Hongkong version erased CID and flashed).
Well, Firstly it's kernel support two way call recording other regions can not.
Then it has built-in AutoNavi Navigation and CamCard app otherwise I will pay 10 bucks or even more for these two apps.
For the gapps, please use my link instead. It's moto's offical gapps. You don't need to play with bootmenu or custom recovery.
1. I supprose you did a little research and already know about razr's recovery.
2. Go to stock recovery and install it and you'll have google play. http://www.mediafire.com/?bkqx9pyw8jxft7j
3. Now the google play should.work.
And yes the GFW sucks and I haven't found a good free VPN. If you don't mind could you share yours?

Thanks you merrykid! Incidentally, I'm using a corporate VPN, so sorry but I'm not able to hook you up. But paying for VPN service is definitely worth it. I was on Witopia for a while and heard good things about StrongVPN as well. For around USD$100 per year, paid VPN is definitely worth it. The few times that GFW blocked Witopia servers, they were quick to respond and provide alternate server IP's when you email their support. Speed of course will vary, sometimes youtube is smooth as silk while other times I just gave up.
Seems like all the good free VPN's are blocked sooner or later. I was on TOR for a while too, but that proved to be painstakingly slow vast majority of the time. But check out SmartHosts, it seems to may be of some help.

Hi!
Thanks... I tried to google translate but I'm not sure if I did it right. I'm not chinese.
Anyway I may try to find a classmate to help me out.
installing gapps is best solution..
but after factory reset, devices always stack at logo moto..
also have chinese razr
Blkmagic I seem to have the same problem as you did and wondering if you can help me fix this it. I'm not too familiar with the exact procedure you used and wondering if you might be able to walk me through it if possible? Its been very frustrating not being able to access the play store and having difficulty with Google maps and gmail. Would be greatly appreciated.
How can I install bootmenu manager if i don't have playstore to begin with?
You have to find an Crackflasher, that's to lazy to download it always after flashing with RSD
I just found my Droid X2 at the back of a drawer and want to see if I can give it a second life. The phone was factory reset and I can't go through the activation process. Verizon always says the programming unsuccessful. I'm just wondering if there is anyway I can use the phone either bypassing the activation or flash a different rom (which is preferred) and be over with Verizon.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

cm7 and eclipse 2.3 are pretty stable, but only android 2.3/ gingerbread
there is a cm10 (Jellybean) but not as stable
nothing has been updated in a couple of years.
because of the locked bootloader:
if you are installing cm7, cm10 DX2 should be on stock 2.3.4 system version 1.3.380
for eclipse 2.3 should be on stock 2.3.5/1.3.418
