Have you tried to flash stock firmware from download(odin) mode? Use latest version of odin, download latest firmware from sammobile and flash.

Stick it in download mode, flash a stock ROM and never look back.
go to advanced and you will see an option reboot recovery reboot then go backup and restore and go to restore from internal ad and you should see it their ok
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
After you format your phone you have no firmware inside it.You need a firmware to flash a ROM because ROMs are based on firmwares.
1.Format the phone like you did
2.flash a compatable firmware with the ROM you want to flash
3.Flash the ROM
Done.
HOW TO FLASH A ROM WHEN CANT MOUNT USB STORAGE???never used an ODIN also i have used the recover from internal and nothing happened??
can you get to download mode and do you have Odin on your PC and Kies installed?

i have right now download odin but havent kies installed..
You need to go to the samsung website and download and install the latest version of Kies. This will install the drivers that are needed to use Odin and flash a new stock firmware to your phone. Then you can flash a custom ROM if you want. But you NEED Kies to use Odin.

Boot Loop When Reverting To Stock Firmware (Bell i9100M)

Hi guys,
I've installed a custom ROM but now I need to restore to the stock Bell ROM so I can send my phone in for repair.
Previously I was getting a boot animation loop so I followed these directions and installing that firmware package (PIT,CSC,PDA and Phone).
Now, when I install the Bell firmware, after disconnecting from ODIN on the recovery screen, I am getting a bunch of error messages in red like:
E: failed to mount /cache (no such file or directory
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/recovery_kerenel_log
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/log
and then if I reboot the device, I get a stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100 screen and can't get any further.
Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening?
I'm sorry but can you please re-tell what you did step by step?
Also, did you mean "disconnecting from ODIN on the download mode screen"? Because recovery is not for ODIN.
Was the installation of Bell firmware success before you disconnected?
PIT should not be used .

Sure I can. See below:
Installing Stable Firmware
Put phone into download mode and plug into computer via USB
Open ODIN
Select stable firmware (XWKK2) as PDF and press START
Wait for ODIN to complete and show PASS! message
Unplug phone
Phone moves to a screen with the Recovery background that says "Deleting Cryption Meta Data" and then installs packages, says it has wiped cache, etc
Phone continues boot up and ends up at the "Welcome to GT-I9100" screen to setup my phone/Google account
Reinstalling Bell Firmware
Put phone into recovery mode
Delete user cache
Perform reset
Put phone into download mode and plug into computer via USB
Open ODIN
Select Bell firmware as PDF and press START
Wait for ODIN to complete and show PASS! message
Phone starts the reboot sequence, and moves from the Download mode screen to what looks like recovery mode screen.
Phone now shows all the error messages, such as the ones previously mentioned:
E: failed to mount /cache (no such file or directory
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/recovery_kerenel_log
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/log
I select "Restart System Now" from the Recovery menu
Phone gets stuck at the Galaxy S II startup screen
Did you do a factory reset and it still doesnt work?
Don't select PIT file. You shouldn't have used it at all unless it says so. Untick "repartiotion" and don't use again. It seems like something went wrong during installation.
First try to install another official gingerbread rom or redownload the bell's firmware from another source. As far as I know there is only ine source that u can download because I did before.
Don't use pit file and uncheck repartition from Odin. Try to install again. These phones are pretty hard to brick. Try different firmwares and it will work again.
I don't recomend using ics firmware cuz it installs a new bootloader and its download menu is different. And I couldn't change no matter what firmware I installed.
On the first flash, did you tick Re-partition? Did you have the pit file loaded?
On the second flash, did you tick Re-partition? Did you have the pit file loaded?
Try step 5-7 on the guide you've followed, but, use the stock Bell kernel instead.
If you've flashed Bell stock firmware UGKG2, then you can find and download the standalone kernel here.
Extract it then flash it.
Hope everything works then.
If not, report back and do not continuing onto step 8.
Hi guys,
I appreciate all the help so far. I've had a Galaxy S Vibrant I've been ROMing for a long time with no issues, and was surprised I ran into an issue here.
I did reflash the PIT the first time I did the reset, but haven't done it since. I did a repartition that first time I used the PIT file, but again not since then.
Since that time, I've flashed the following ROMs with no issues:
XWKK2 (Stock)
XWKI4 (Stock)
UltraToxic ROM 8.1 (Custom)
It's just the Bell firmware I am having issues with, which is really puzzling.
What I did find, is that XWKK2 and XWKI4 both contain boot.bin and Sbl.bin files. Both the Bell and Ultrasonic didn't have bootloaders.
jk0l - I tried steps 5-7 and still get the same frozen Galaxy S II logo.
warfanax - I did a factory reset already as well. I was considering finding a different source, but can't find another trusted source.
Different bootloaders shouldn't effect at all. I turned back to stock ugk2 after many different ics roms.

I found some links. I don't know if you have seen them before.
Where did you download the Bell firmware from?
Try to download a new one from Intratech's thread to flash again.
I've successfully flashed my cousin's i9100M with it.
If still, try this:
1. Look for the kernel wiper in the forum and download it.
2. Flash back to whatever was working before this problem occurred.
3. Let it boot normally, then root it using CF's kernel if it isn't already.
4. Load the kernel wiper onto phone's storage, then turn it off.
5. Boot it into recovery and flash the kernel wiper.
6. Reboot back into recovery under Advance.
7. Now wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik.
8. Go to Mount, format all the stuff there, then mount those that are unmounted.
9. Turn off the device.
10. Enter download mode to flash the newly downloaded Bell firmware.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I followed this step by step, and still nothing. I am still getting the same error messages. It's like all of those folders I mounted get unmounted with the Bell firmware.
Does turning off the device in step 9 unmount everything? It's like I almost need the bell firmware as a ZIP I can flash in Recovery for step 10, no?
Actually, sorry, after re-read it, step 9 sounds more like the reverse of I really meant.
Step 9, leave the unmount, and mount the mount (i think it includes system, cache, ...)
And yes, you can flash a Bell firmware zip, then flash the modem and csc in ODIN. Then flash the stock kernel.
However, I don't know where you could find an odexed zip of Bell firmware.
The Fix
I found a fix for this as I was having the exact same problem. I tried posting the link to the website here on the thread but since I am a new member I am not able to do so.
If you do a google search on the following:
How to Install and Upgrade Bell Samsung Galaxy S2 to ICS 4.0.3 Firmware I9100MUGLD3 with odin it will take you to the page that I found.
It works!
Hope that helps!!

For future referance, if it's stock through Kies, use recovery mode in Kies, or you press Vol- Home and power to switch it on, and it should take you to download (Odin) mode, then just flash the rom through the Odin software.
Download the file via Checkfus downloader.
Extract the .zip once (If you download a .tar or .tar.md5 file this step is not required)
Boot into Download mode.
End any Kies process via task manager.
Open Odin.
Connect your phone via USB.
Click the PDA button and add the .tar file.
Make sure re-partition is NOT!!!! clicked.
click start and sit back for a few minutes.
I thought he said "how to soft brick"

Sorry if this is in the wrong section
I was playing a game on my phone and it froze so I turned the phone off and then back on but the phone wouldn't boot past the samsung animation screen, So I tried doing a factory reset / wipe data but this didn't work. I then tried flashing the firmware with oin3 v3.07 but when the phone reset it said E: Failed to mount data (Invalid argument.
So could someone tell me what files I need to download as when I download the 3 firmware it came as a tar.md5 file.

Thank you for your reply :good: When you download odin should it come with a pit file as I don't have one at the moment. I did do a search and it said I need totoro_623.pit but is the correct file for the S5839i as I did see someone say cooperve is needed.

I just downloaded odin from the link and it did have a pit file :good: I have tried again and I still get E: Failed to mount data (Invalid argument. When I'm flashing the firmware do I need the sd and sim card in.
I flashed a different firmware from sammobile and when the phone reset it said E: Failed to mount data (Invalid argument). So when odin said pass I switched the phone off and back on and I didn't have the 3 logo and had a different Samsung logo but the phone wouldn't boot, so I went into download mode and I had installed 5803i firmware I have now installed the 3 firmware but I'm still getting E: Failed to mount data (Invalid argument). So is there something wrong with my hardware.

I downloaded the Australia file and when I extracted it I got four files but the firmware is for the S5830i. So would you know where I can get the S5839i firmware from that has the four files as every firmware I have download has come in a single file. I've searched loads of forums and found that using just the one file want work with odin so you need the four files to flash the S5839i.

Im sure s5830i files work on s5839i. What difference does it make if it turns from s5839i to s5830i?
Just try it. The only difference between the phones are the numbers 0 and 9.

What error message are you getting in the Odin log?
Sounds like it is a hardware problem.

and in frimware I9300XXDLIH_I9300VDSDLI1_VDS ; i got error on system.img in all odin version
Looks like the rom is too old for the phone. Try flashing the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com.

Depends where it's from. For my btu, mk6 was the last update. Nothing changed after mk6 so you should be able to 'downgrade' from any higher version as they are all 4.3.
E: failed to mount is a recovery issue. Which recovery are you using?. Is your device rooted?.
If your device isn't rooted then you can try flashing the stock recovery image via odin on the pc (hopefully it'll flash provided that the corruption is elsewhere in the nand).
If the stock recovery image won't flash then you have bigger issues and the device is probably hard bricked from hardware failure.
Here is a stock recovery for mk6: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4vTiHTBB629ajRJaWx5QlVFSWs/view?usp=drivesdk
Grab it quick before a mod breaks my balls for it.
Beamed in by telepathy.
Although mk6 may be the latest for some phones, it may not be the latest for the op's phone which is why I suggested flashing the latest stock rom.
Sorry for late answer , no my phone is not rooted , how i can see which recovery im using?

Thats why I said "depends where it's from". You're right but lack the detail..
OP: You can access recovery by holding home and vol+ while tapping the power button.
