problem with sgs2 need help - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello to all xda's
i have for 2 days experience some probs with my sgs2 and i thought of formatting it and then to pass a version in a clear HDD so i went through cwm in mounts and storage menu i have put yes in all the formats then wipe cache/dalvik,i have then re-go to mount and storage menu to mount usb storage for download the rom i want to install but gives me : unable to open ums lunfile(no such file or directory).what ih ave to do??i need to restore my phone as soon as possible.

Stick it in download mode, flash a stock ROM and never look back.

go to advanced and you will see an option reboot recovery reboot then go backup and restore and go to restore from internal ad and you should see it their ok

After you format your phone you have no firmware inside it.You need a firmware to flash a ROM because ROMs are based on firmwares.
1.Format the phone like you did
2.flash a compatable firmware with the ROM you want to flash
3.Flash the ROM
Done.

HOW TO FLASH A ROM WHEN CANT MOUNT USB STORAGE???never used an ODIN also i have used the recover from internal and nothing happened??

can you get to download mode and do you have Odin on your PC and Kies installed?

i have right now download odin but havent kies installed..

You need to go to the samsung website and download and install the latest version of Kies. This will install the drivers that are needed to use Odin and flash a new stock firmware to your phone. Then you can flash a custom ROM if you want. But you NEED Kies to use Odin.

Galaxy s2 odin error

I tried to flash a firmware via odin and it stucks to factoryfs.img.now i cant open my phone. When im flashing every firmware va odin it stucks at factoryfs.img.i tried to wipe everything from the stock recovery and retry but i had no success.when im flashing kernels i have no error.so i was wondering if i could flash cf-root and then when i will be into recovery push files via adb to internal sdcard.is this possible?if yes tell me how.If not tell me other ways to unbrick my device
Which firmware did you try? Try to flash a stock firmware. Go here and pick up the latest ROM and follow the instructions it is very well explained

Good luck

i flashed a stock firmware.i tried this and i had no result.if you can answer this i told about cwm and adb i would be very happy
try another cable.
I had similar problem because of a poor cable ordered from e-bay.
even if you are using the stock cable, try another one as it might be damaged.
gokhan thanks for your help but it didn't work.if i format the /system partition will i be able to get into download mode?
I don't see how you could get Odin to recognise your phone in order to format the system partition if you weren't able to get into download mode.
So I guess I'll play Captain Obvious...Can you get into download mode ?
If not, does Odin recognise the phone when you hook the phone up to a PC via a USB cable ? (a long shot I know but I'm trying to think of anything that might work here).

You really need to start giving more information.
Excactly what rom did you tried to flash? And yes, you can just flash CF-Root and start flashing from recovery. If it is possible to push the files true adb, I don't know. But you will have adb for sure in recovery.
And why are you flashing? It looks like you have really no idea what you are doing.
the problem is solved.i flashed a cwm 9 rom via odin and now im ok.now im flashing chechrom.i had checkrom and i undervolted too much.the phone closed but accidenatly i had ticked the set on bot button.my external sd is broken and i didnt have a checkrom backp into my internal sdcard.so i decided to flash an official firmware and then flash again checkrom.this is the story but now my problem is solved so you can lock the thread.thank you all

[Q] flasching with CMW dont work

Hello,
first of all sorry for my english. I try me best but this is not my native language and i hope everyone can read this .
I have a strange Problem with my I9100 SG2.
I can flash a new FW with ODIN e.g. [ROM][ICS Firmwares] I9100XWLPX [29.08.2012][Android 4.0.4] and the Phone runs very well, but i cant flash anything else.
If flash the Siyah Kernel 4.1.5 with ODIN than i got stuck in a bootloop. I can enter recovery mode and do a wipe but this dont fix the bootloop.
If i try to flash anything else in the recovery mode the flash start and run till 40-70% and than it stops.
The only way to recover the SG2 is to flash a new stock FW like the I9100XWLPX and than i can start the phone and the bootloop is gone.
I have a lot experience with different androids devices and this is the first time where i don't have a solution.
Did someone have a Idear what i can try to flash a custom kernel or rom? What is going wrong?
Maybe i can fix it when i flash a 3-part FW with a PIT file.
kind regards,
Preacher
P.S.: I don't found any thread that can help me.
Did someone have a solution ?
many thx,
Preacher
Hy Preacher. So if i get it right this solves your problem:
Ok here is what to do
1) get into download mode and flash siyah kernel via Odin
2) download a rom.zip and put on ur external sd card using a card reader to connect it to ur pc
3) boot into siyah kernel's recovery mode and install zip from sdcard then install the rom u want
It is recommended to wipe data and cache via recovery ( but dont do it if u were on 4.0.4 or were trying to installing it).

I tryed this already but the install process stops in the middle of the progress bar.
Than i can only recover the Phone if i install a Stock ROM via Odin. I used a 4.0.4 an test the memory with a tool from the play store and the emmc brick toll told me that i dont have chip that is responsible for the brick bug.
What happens if the install hold between 40-70% and don't go any further.
many thx,
Preacher
Hhm ok then. We should go deeper. Please show me the errors you get. Try to install a rom via cm-recovery and try to attach logcat then it crash.
To save a log to a file,
adb logcat > logcat.txt

If you don't have a nandroid backup, then you will need to reflash the stock firmware via Odin and start over.
I didn't make a nandroid backup but it doesn't bother me much about losing data. I tried using Odin but I can't seem to understand how to use it.

There are a zillion guides around here, YouTube, etc on how it works. It's basically the same for almost any Samsung.
Download the appropriate firmware for your phone / carrier / region
Install drivers, if needed
Open Odin as Admin
Plug phone in Download Mode to PC
Odin should register phone as COM:XX where XX could be any numbers
Load the firmware in the PDA or AP slot, depending on which Odin version being used
After file is checked, hit Start
Wait patiently
Phone should reboot on it's own
If phone bootloops after successful flash, then reboot to the stock recovery and perform a factory data reset

PLZ HELP:crying::crying::crying:

Help me please.

Greetings.
I need your help.
I recorded my mom to 7 android device Samsung Galaxy S2. But it does not fit this version again and wants Jelly Bean.
On the phone for any damage and USB port so you can not record a Jelly Bean via Odin. Unrecorded him just over Odin.
Do you know anyone help me how to load a through recovery? Or, if you have the necessary fasteners Lenten them to me. I've even try alternative backups by copying the older system from another phone SG2. Can you get there only via an SD card.

I really don't know what you mean by "doesn't fit", do you mean installation failed in recovery? Or what?
Have you repartitioned your phone to higher system partition with 45mb preload? , if you did that, then you will have to repartition again to 512mb preload to be able to flash stock rom with odin, please provide more info about your problem..
And how changes to the 512?
It must give specific kernel? It seems to me Send link

To change preload partition to 512mb, you need to use a pit that does that, like using the stock pit or XGB_XGB_512mb pit, flash this recovery with one of them using Odin, and reboot to recovery and do the following :
-Wipe data
-Wipe cache
-Go to "advanced" and wipe Dalvik cache
-Go back and then go to "mount" and format system and format internal sdcard using (default)
Then remove the battery and put it back and reboot to download mode and flash the stock rom alone.
Choose any pit you want from the zip in attachment.
You can not use the pit file does not register until Odin Samsung Galaxy S2 on the computer.
Me SG2 is displayed as Connected When you open Odin. It is simply unmounted
Therefore, if it can be changed to JB through recovery so tell me how

I still don't get what you want, you can easily repartition back no matter what android you're using, just boot into download mode and load the files on Odin and connect your phone and if the drivers is correctly installed, Odin should recognize your phone without any problems
Although the dam phone to download mode odin EQUIPMENT recognized. This does not appear there. Therefore, I ask whether it is possible to install JB differently using Odin

No you can't install stock rom without using Odin.
All i can tell you is to make sure that:
1- you are using a working Odin version, you should use Odin 3.07 or 3.09 or 3.10.6 for better compatibility.
2- Samsung USB drivers is installed correctly.
3- you're using a good USB cable like the original, because some cables doesn't work, also try connecting to different USB ports in your Computer.
If your phone is recognized by Odin and give you error when flashing then check your hardware, probably a corrupted motherboard or check if the firmware is right.
Thank you for your help. After much torment I recorded on the phone custom ROM based on Jelly Bean
Thanks. Although I am not solve the connection problem but it's jelly bean although adjusted
