thank you! :good: Now is the question how can i install CWM to finally flash custom roms?

Just search the latest cwm recovery and put it on the root of your (Internal) SD card. Then flash it via recovery, worked for me

Here, flash the latest version in ODIN (download the .tar.md5 file of latest version) and select it under PDA in ODIN. Flash it then BOOM! (No explosion intended, but you get what I mean) Your phone should have custom recovery.

Thanks, but i can not install CWM via Standard recovery because the paket signature is not signed. So i guess Samsung prevented it...
@gsstudios Flashing via Odin is obviously not possible for me...But thank you.
Is there a solution how to install a unsigned paket through standard recovery?

You need PhilZ recovery, see this post and following :

Thank you! So i flash Philz and after that i can directly flash CWM over it? Because i need CWM or TWRP for my ROM

That's correct. Flash PhilZ first, then the specific recovery for your new Rom (search for the zip file, not the tar file).

Thanks mate, worked like a charm.

Custom Recovery

Hi, I have a Galaxy S2 with stock ROM 4.0.3 and stock Recovery. I wanted to know if there is a way of flashing Custom Rom without rooting the phone or ADB. Would this method work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 I would just proceed till the step "Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear." Would this work? i need custom recovery so i can flash a custom ROM.
Thanks again
No you cant flash a Custom ROM from stock recovery, you need a custom recovery and root access on your phone for flashing custom roms
the method you linked is only for rooting, the recovery appearing is only a temporory one from which you can only install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip.

I didn't test it myself, but I think that it will work.
If the custom ROM is provided as Odin-flashable tar file, you don't need a CWM recovery to flash it. Just put the ROm tar file into PDA section of Odin and flash it to your phone.
Only if the custom ROM is available as CWM-flashable zip file, you need to flash a kernel containing CWM recovery first.
I prefer to flash CF-Root kernel from Chainfire with Odin. It contains CWM Manager app and CWM recovery of cause.
When you are in doubt, stick to the flashing instructions of the ROM developer - usually in the corresponding ROM thread.
P.S.:
As soon as you have CWM recovery, create a nandroid/system backup.
So you will be able to go back to your current system, if something goes wrong with the new ROM.
Good luck !
Oh cool, lemme try it

All you need to do is download cwm recovery from here http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager in your SD card and flash the Dowloaded zip from stock recovery .
Once you flash, your stock recovery will be converted to cwm recovery
After that flash any custom rom of your choice. Simple and short

I have used it multiple times, but the Queston is can you do it the first time, before you choose that busy box installer.
Edit: yes you can flash any rom just fine

[Q] Installing TWRP on Unrooted Note

How can I install TWRP on my unrooted Note? and Which is the easiest way to install it?
Searching through the forums I haven't found any specific instructions but if I've read correctly it seems that through ODIN is the easiest way.
Where can I get the latest ODIN for the Note i717?
Could someone be so kind to provide some instructions and links?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
You don't need to be rooted to flash a rom or install a recovery. Root is for access to the system files of the rom after it boots and loads.

How can I install a recovery without having to root my phone first? What's the procedure
All the instructions I've found require the Note to rooted first.
Rom already on sdcard.
Recovery tar in Odin.
Flash recovery with Odin
Boot into new recovery and flash rom.
Rom will be rooted once booted.
Bingo, the EASIEST way th go from bones stock to custom rom.

thanks for this , man..my wife's Note was never rooted, and she wants it done, so I will try this way..
sounds waaaaay too easy though!
I didn't mention that that this method will trip the flash counter
As I don't give one care about what my flash counter says unless I get a hardware defect within my year of ownership I didn't mention that before.
There are ways to reset it so don't even worry about until the day comes where you need to.
And just where do we find the TWRP. tar...... That we flash with Odin.....
All I see is how to Install TWRP using
GOO MANAGER..... And that requires root..
Which the OP doesn't want to do....
Thanks...

flash the CWM tar first, and after you go through all the other steps, and are rooted, download and install TWRP..
Like the above poster said, but skip the root step. So CWR using Odin and occasionally, then TWRP by using CWR, done.
Ok..... So we need the CWR.tar, for Odin...
Any links please?
Then.... We need the TWRP file to put on our SD...
Any link to the TWRP too please?
Thanks for all your help...
In keeping the OP's note un-rooted...
See the super everything thread. The tar file is there. The TWRP zip is in the original development thread.
Hey guys. Thanks for the responses.
I see that some of you are recommending to odin CWR and then use CWR to flash TWRP.
On the TWRP page there is this link to the following page http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/sgh-i717/ which has the different TWRP files and there is a TWRP .tar file. File name: openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.3-quincyatt.img.tar
Can I just odin the above file instead of odin CWR first?
Where can I find the latest ODIN? I've looked for downloads but haven't found it. A link would be much appreciated.
Once again, thanks.

Root s3 mini with latest firmware! (new way!)

First, I would like to apologize for my bad English (If I have spoken something wrong / using wrong grammar)
And I would like to warn you that:
***This will increase the flash counter!
***You cannot boot into CWM by pressing the (vol up + power + home) buttons [I don't know why, don't ask me]
***I'm not responsible if you FAIL to ROOT / BRICK your device / CANNOT OPEN
CORRECTION: THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY TO ROOT S3 MINI, TAKE IT, OR IGNORE IT~~
Guys, I just bought an S3 mini and I found out that the root methods are so few...
For example: Flash pre-rooted ROM, seems is the best way and safest way to have a ROOT-ED system...
Anyway, I have figured an hour and I tried some "tricks" to ROOT the S3 MINI easily with the LATEST FRRMWARE!
I found out 1 thing is when you flash any S3 MINI firmware via ODIN, the firmware DOES NOT including the STOCK RECOVERY
Ok back to the topic, these are the ways that I figured out and used them to ROOT my S3 MINI with LATEST FIRMWARE! (Android 4.1.2 XXAMA2)
Just follow my instructions, I have tested them and they worked...
Step 1: Put the ROOT zip file into sdcard / external sdcard. ***Download the ROOT zip file from below attachment***
Step 2: Boot to DOWNLOAD MODE, flash CWM 6.0.2.8 via ODIN's PDA, UN-TICK "Auto Reboot"
***I have made an ODIN FLASHABLE CWM (6.0.2.8)***Download it from the attachment below***
Step 3: Download any / latest S3 MINI firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I8190
Step 4: Boot into DOWNLOAD MODE again! Flash the firmware that you have downloaded... This time tick the "Auto Reboot"
Step 5: The device will auto reboot into CWM after you have flashed the firmware! When it boots into CWM, click "Install un-trusted zip" first, after that browse and flash the ROOT file via CWM!
REBOOT YOUR DEVICE, IF YOU FIND OUT THAT THE MENU & BACK KEYS CANNOT CLICK, JUST REBOOT YOUR DEVICE AGAIN!
CONGRATULATION! YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR S3 MINI WITH LATEST FIRMWARE AND LATEST SuperSU!
If you failed to boot into CWM, just flash the firmware again and remember tick the "Auto Reboot"!
The phone will automatically boot into CWM again and all you need to do next is to flash the ROOT zip file!
You are welcome to share your ideas / experiences after using my way...
Post your questions if you have, I'll try to help you... If I may...
TRY MY WAY OUT! :victory::laugh::good:

Another trick for accessing recovery menu is via command prompt and android-sdk tools installed on PC.
Just navigate to Android folder with debugging mode turned on on phone and type: adb reboot recovery -> voila
Also let me mention that I managed to root and SIM unlock 8190N (NFC model) on latest 4.1.2 JB using your tutorial and Z3X box (USB + UART cable)
1) Flash the Le Fleur ROM via ODIN (this will enable the "three button recovery boot").
2) Flash whatever rooted ROM you want via ODIN (the "three button recovery boot" combo WILL STICK).
3) Install Triangle Away (Infected_ was one of the testers and it's been working for a couple days now).

[Q] Status 7 ERROR, PA ROM i9300

Friends, now I had hit a simple issue. Downloaded PA ROM 4.45 from official site itself(for my I9300 itself). Tried to install it using CWM(v 6.0.3.2), but there comes 'status 7' error.
1. What should I do now?

You can either flash via odin/heimdall (.tar) or flash the .zip in recovery. You just need the latest version of the recovery of your liking in either form.
Thanks friends. I will try it
By the way when you mean flash through recovery means. How? By using app like Flasher? Is it .tar or .tar.md5 for Odin? And also what it actually does is overwriting the old recovery. Right?
