SMS/MMS taking a long time to send and recieve - Verizon LG G3

Does anyone have an issue where SMS and MMS takes a long time to send and receive?
I tried different apps. Google Message, Hangouts, Stock messaging app, and VZW messaging app and all the same issue. Tried resetting the phone and it works for a little while but then takes a long time again. This happens on Wifi and LTE/3G. Also cleared app data and cache on all apps. Nothing works. Finally did a factory reset and just like a normal reset, works for a little while then back to the same issue. VZW says no issue on their ends and they even refreshed my signal. I also pulled the SIM card out for a minute and put it back in.
I am on 12B right now. I had Amplify Xposed module installed but I stopped it and uninstalled it. As of right now I only have Pandora patcher and youtube ad remover installed in Xposed.

How long are you talking here? Are you texting a phone next to you or in your house, or how do you know it is being delayed?

20mins to an hour delayed. I only know because I got a call saying we sent that an hour ago and your just getting that message now. So then I texted myself and it was delayed a good amount. It only has been happening the past week or so. No new apps except updating apps but now I have done a factory reset with no apps.

Wow, that seems like an awful long time. Since you did a factory reset and tested it, it doesn't sound like it is your device. Do you have other devices on VZW that are experiencing the same thing, or just yours?

As of right now, just mine.
When I called VZW they tried to reset something on their end and it didn't help either. I didn't think it was my phone but there is nothing else I can think of. The only thing that I did think off was Amplify but I uninstalled that and no luck. And once a while during a group chat, it would show the singly chat with that one contact and it will ask me to download it and it won't download. WIfi or LTE. I have 3-4 bars of LTE and going outside didn't help either.

I'd call support again and text back and forth with a tech so they can verify the issue if you haven't already. If you text with them and the issue occurs they are forced to fix it, as opposed to offering some ideas for a fix and ending the call. Seems like a provisioning problem on Verizon's end, or possibly a bad sim card.

Thanks. I will go to VZW and see what they say. All they had me do was go into safe mode and still didn't come though. What's weird is that it doesn't happen all the time but once in a while and when it's doing it, it stays an issue for a few hours then it's back to normal for a little bit.

FWIW, my son has been having very similar issues on his Galaxy S3 this week. So it may be a VZW issue. He's in the DC area.

Texting Stopped Working on EVO LTE

I suddenly can't send or receive any text messages. I don't have a clue what caused it. Last night I installed the app wifikill and used it for a few minutes which did cause my phone to reboot and for some reason made it look for a profile update, firmware update and prl update. Everything else seems to be working, so I'm not sure what's going on. I already attempted to delete everything in my phone and restore from a nandroid backup before this happened, and the problem still persist. Any ideas of what could have caused this and how to fix it?
I don't know if it is related or not, but I've been having texting issues with the LTE as well. Sometimes they go through, sometimes they don't and I end up turning airplane mode on, then off after waiting 30 seconds.
I've also been having MAJOR delays in getting sent messages (some are coming in more than 2 hours after they were sent to me according to the time stamps on the incoming messages)
It is really driving me crazy (oh, and along with data crapping out as well with no rhyme or reason as to why and when).

+1 to this issue.
That's no really the same problem I'm having. I simply can't send or receive text messages at all. It just suddenly started happening with no warning, so I'm not sure what caused it or how to fix it. Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem. If I don't hear anything soon, I'm thinking about unrooting my phone and re-locking the bootloader and taking it to sprint to see if they can do anything with it.

I would run the ruu which will put you back to stock and see if the problem remains.

Sadly I already did that, and it still wasn't able to send or receive text messages. But here is the real kicker. Soon as I made a call to one of my friends who also knows a lot about phones to ask him if he had any suggestions, all the text messages that I made that wouldn't send all sent. By simply making a phone call, the phone must of connected with the sprint towers and made it start working. Super bizarre, but it's working again. So now I'm in the process up setting everything back up. Thank you Titanium Back up.
I'm currently experiencing modified version of your problem. I can't send text messages, but I can receive them. The only messages I can send are picture messages because they are looked upon as data.

Are you new to Sprint? Text messaging on Sprint has done this on several different devices for the past two years (since I joined Sprint). And when I make a phone call several tend to come through.
Oddly enough this doesn't happen in Utah when I go to visit, only Puerto Rico (where I live).
Try making a phone call and updating your prl within Sprint Zone. That fixed it for me.
I tried EVERYTHING to fix my phone. I rooted, unlocked and installed 2 different ROMS. None helped. I had to update my PRL every hour, and sometimes that didn't help either. I wiped everything, unrooted and relocked, ran RUU and went to Sprint. They replaced my phone. They are not allowed to work on these phones currently, so you'll either get a new one or a reconditioned one. Because I signed up for insurance, I got a new one.
I have not had any of the same issues since getting a new one. To me, it seems the issue is the PRL. It's showing that it's been updated, but it's not updating. There's a conflict between what Sprint sees on their side and your phone. But.. I'm not a Sprint tech, so I don't know.
All I know is I have a NEW phone and the problem is FIXED. For now anyways..

Actually know, I've been with Sprint close to 20 years now. I've always had a lot of different problems with them, but I've never had this particular problem before. But I'm glad I got it figured out, and everything is working again.

[Q] Weird texting problem

Helped a friend with this problem and it was too weird not to post to see if anyone else knew about it...
He has a note I rooted and loaded SGH-i717-UCLF6-FJMod-B5 on for him.
Yesterday we had an area wide network issue on AT&T, no data or edge only texting was borked. It lasted about an hour. Apparently his wife texts him like every five minutes and even more when he wasn't responding.
When service resumed he could send texts and send/receive MMS, but could not receive texts. He called AT&T support last night and they couldn't help him so next he went to the local store where they gave him a new sim card which didn't help. He said they told him it was a known Samsung device issue and one way to fix it was to put his sim in another phone and let the messages come through and then put it back in the note.
I have an old atrix laying around so we tried that first thing this morning and it worked.
My question is why?! Is this a legit Samsung device issue? I found a few posts around the web mentioning the same issue with no real answers.
Its a network maintenance issue. Some things just take a little time to clear up, including sending a huge backlog of SMS.
Yeah, but why would none of my other 20 at&t phone users experience this...and why would putting his sim in a different phone force it to start working.

Can't send sms, Verizon has no clue.

So to make a long story short, for the past few weeks I have not been able to send sms. It happened all of a sudden and with no changes to cause it. I can send mms, receive and make calls, but no sms. Took it to Verizon yesterday with the thought in mind that I had a faulty simple card, they tried another one and nothing. Factory reset, nothing. Spent two hours watching them try tthe same things I did. Then they gave up and said to refer to samsung. My question is, is this a software issue? And will rooting and throwing a rom on do the trick? Also is there a root method for after the 4.3 update at the moment?

Check to see if you are on Global or CDMA/LTE/EVDO
settings/more networks/mobile networks/network mode
I was having issues receiving MMS messages and set this from global back CDMA/LTE/EVDo and that fixed it.
Worth a try

Did you try a factory reset???
Hey bud... had the same issue. Over and over for quite some time (since before owning the S4).
Only real fix was to reset the phone (stock, rooted, or custom rom)... only to have it crop up later, again and again.
Last call to VZW and the girl had me swap my SIM and get a new phone, this was while I was on vacation and when I got home, the phone hard bricked on the MJ7 update. So I am not sure what is what and not even sure if it will crop up again. I haven't seen the issue for a few weeks though.
I do have a little, non scientific, theory on this.
Everytime I have had this occur that I can recall, I was traveling from my home. Maybe 100 miles or more. VZW messaging (web) never got any of the messages and the VZW rep can see the messages come into their system and the system believes it is delivering the messages. This also occured with the GNex.
I am assuming that one of two things are going on here.... something is messed up with my provisioning (and your's maybe) or there is an issue with handoffs.
A friend of mine went through the same thing until I did this:
Turn off the radios one by one including: bluetooth, mobile network, and then do airplane mode. Make sure you're on the CDMA/EvDO/LTE settings instead of global. Reboot the phone. Turn off airplane mode, and then turn on your mobile network and give it about a minute. Then try sending SMS.

Damn ... I was hoping that was the ticket. Your phone might need to be provisioned. *228 to make sure it has updated PRLs. Failing that, you may need to call up VZW.

It does not fry the sim anymore it just puts you in a 3g prl, after a week or to or after you cut your phone off it will auto update back to 4g prl

Just wanted to give this a bump to see if someone has any ideas
another bump. samsung doesn't want to send me a replacement and suggest i find a loner phone to put my sim in while they have it for over a week. i can't do that. Rooted the phone and put a rom on it to see if that would do the trick and nothing. Any suggestions before i argue with samsung?

It is a known Verizon network issue. There is people way above the front line staff working on it. They don't tell the front line staff this because since it's just limited to aosp and they only support stock, unrooted phones they tell people there is no issue. They could send you ten replacements phones and they all will do the same thing. It's not the phone, it's not the AOSP rom, and it's not your sim card. It's a bizzare issue that makes all aosp roms ever made not work in certain areas, mostly central pa but others as well. There is another xda user working directly with the engineers providing me updates. I will let you know when we find out a resolution.
Here is my thread which is for the Note 2 with the same issue. There is also links that others have posted in my thread with the exact same symptoms since 2/20/14.

Random loss of data

Does anyone experience random losses of data connectivity? Sometimes I just can't browse the internet. If I reboot the phone, then it works. Cycling the data off and then on doesn't do it. I have to reboot. I am running stock everything, but unlocked bootloader.

Stock browser quits working on me sometimes. It won't load a page, I just click recents, close it out and reload it and it is fine.
Yeah, I'm getting the same thing. I also get the random Sim error that also requires a reboot to fix. It seems to be happening more frequently now, so I may be making a trip to at&t tomorrow.

If you take a trip, let me know what they say. I haven't gotten the SIM errors, but definitely losing data. Closing and re-opening the browser has not solves it for me.
I was thinking of trying a different ROM, but still close to stock.

I didn't, mine came pre-loaded in the phone, but I wasn't getting the SIM errors, it was the person above. I looked at ROM's but couldn't decide on one. I think I will try deleting the APN, and creating a new one, and see how that goes for a while.
I'm getting the same thing.
Yes, this happens to me too sometimes when I pass by some particular area, not always but sometimes. And when this happen, it sometimes get back to Norman but sometimes it don't. I have to reboot (as you said) this don't seems to be a problem in phone but with the service provider. I losses signals in that area
And I am from India and this happens in an almost village area

As I expected they first tried to replace my SIM. I was still having the data drop issue and did once again get the SIM error, even though it doesn't happen every time. I was not losing signal like this with my Nexus 5. I finally got an AT&T phone rep to send me out a new device. I could tell the reps in the warranty center didn't believe me...

I get this too. I've checked all my data settings but for some reason it doesn't always sync on mobile data. As soon as I get home on Wi-Fi I get a bunch of messages at once. Checked all my data settings can't seem to figure it out. Stock ROM rooted and soff. Att phone unlocked using on telus in Canada.

Multiple Text messages sent (duplicates)??

My wife's phone will send multiple duplicate text messages, on her phone it shows only one sent, but on my end (and other peoples) I will get 2-3 duplicate messages in a row, I thought it was just mine until I questioned her about it and she said everyone she sends text's to complains of it.... I told her to go to the verizon store so she did and they dont know why it is happening, she tried to do a factory reset and it seemed to fix it for a few days but it is happening again. Her phone is completely stock, I did no modifications at all to it, she tried different messaging apps and they all do it, I think it is something with the network but verizon says there is nothing they can do... Has anyone had this problem, or know what is causing it?
My wife's phone has occasionally done that too, but I don't know the cause or solution, and it only happens once every few months...maybe.
So she's on 35B?
My wife has this issue on her moto x, but it only occurs when she is at work which has horrible reception.
My phone has been doing this lately- I think it may be a reception thing where it keeps trying not knowing it succeeded. Drives me nuts.
My fiance's phone has been doing that for quite some time. We had to get to Verizon's tier 2 tech support and had them create a trouble ticket. They still haven't gotten back to new after 2 weeks.
Coincidentally she Got the notification for 46a, and since upgrading, we haven't had the issue. It's definitely a signal thing.
