I need help finding,.....

Hello everyone, I just fell in love with the new launcher of the Droid X Gingerbread BLUR. It has a dock with 4 icons and it looks great. I was wondering...is there any way to install that launcher, or is there any similar launcher with a 4 icon dock?
Thanks a lot.

[Q] Tab 10.1 for Mom?

I was thinking about picking up a used one of these for my mother for her birthday. I am torn between this and a Nexus 7, but I think she may like the larger size.
She already had a Galaxy S3 and a Kindle Touch. She mainly would just use it for Facebook, email, and some little BS games.
I this tablet still got enough power and support to last her a year or two? Also, would the stock rom with root be fine? She actually likes the touchwiz on the S3 so I would just keep that on the tablet as long as it's smooth enough.
I could get a used Tab for 150-200 or just pick up a brand new Nexus 7 for 200. What do you guys think?
Thank You

If she's okay with the 7 inch size, I would suggest the Nexus 7. I gave my mom my original Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch, with CM 10 rom and she loves it. She much prefers the 7 inch size to a 10 inch tablet, but that's just my mom.
The Tab 10.1 is a great device, and is definitely worth it for 150 bucks. The stock rom is fine, but I would go ahead and load CM 10 or 10.1 on there just because it will be a smoother and better experience.
All in all, if she is particular about a 10 inch tablet, the Tab 10.1 is a good buy. But if she is okay with a 7 inch tablet, I would go with the nexus 7.
Thanks for the reply. Today I ended up asking her if she liked my Tab 7.7 or my wife's Tab 8.9. She seemed to like the 8.9 better because it was something she would just use at home. I was going to offer her my 7.7 and then just pick up a Note 8.0 for myself, but I think she likes the bigger screens.
So that being the case. Does the 10.1 run with any serious lag? I keep reading reviews about how slow it can be. She won't be taxing it with too much stuff, but she doesn't like any lag either.

If you're keeping it completely stock, there may be a very slight lag just because of older hardware, but nothing terrible. If you do want to keep it stock, I would suggest using Nova Launcher, because it runs a lot smoother with transitions, swiping the homescreen, animations, etc. There's a free and a paid version of it.
If you want to flash a custom ROM on it, you may not get serious lag, but there will be glitches here and there like I mentioned before. For example, there is a slight flicker that happens on the screen every now and then, doesn't really bother me but it may bother some people. But the upside is that you gain a lot of features with CM 10.1 that you don't have with the stock touchwiz android 4.0 that comes with the Tab.
If you are wanting long term support I suggest the nexus 7 but as it is for your mom and see isn't going to be doing much according to your posts then get a tab 10.1 and put a custom rom on it.

Thanks for the help.
I ended up getting her a Tab 10.1 for $150 with a flip case. It is coming pre loaded with CM 10 I think. It is the 4.2 version I believe. I told the guy to just leave that on. I may try the stock rom with the Nova launcher though to start her off. Not sure if there are any touchwiz like roms made, so I guess it will just revert to stock GB and let it upgrade to ICS. All in all, I think she is going to be just fine with the stock version for what she does on it.

Remember to update the rom to the lastest version because there have been many bug fixes and new cyanogenmod nightlies get released.

I am going to research and find the most stable ics or jb rom. I don't live with my mother and don't want to keep checking for updates. I think I found a V8 rom I could use.

You mean JellyBeanRom v8? That's a nice and stable ROM.

Yeah that is the rom that I use for my tab. Much more stable than cm.

The tab should be arriving today before I get home. I will download the JB V8 rom and install it tonight before giving it to her tomorrow. I haven't really looked to much into it yet, but it looks pretty stable. There doesn't seem to be that many bugs either.

It isn't JB. It's touchwiz based ICS 4.0.4.

Nope stock won't let you do that

It's beyond me why someone doesn't want to use an alternative launcher.
Nova, for instance, makes the tablet snappier and looks perfect.

Some people, like me, love Xperia Launcher and Widgets's UI....

I am trying nova free, its ok but takes some getting used to, doesnt feel any snappier and has some things that look hokey, but I will see if I can live with it. the 0 margins are a big plus.
waddaya want fer nuttin, a rubbbber biscuit?
And if you aren't living in a slum in Africa, you could... dare I say it? ... even shell out some cents and buy Nova Prime... :cyclops:

Launcher for P760

Hi all!
Today I bought LG L9 and i have one question.
Better use Nova Launcher Prime or stock launcher and why ?
Which launcher is better for daily use ?
Thanks
I use Nova Launcher Prime 2.3
Because there is much cool features and animations.
This is not making phone slower at all. All speed same that stock launcher.
But you can try, this not making anything worse, when you wont like it, just deinstall.
I bought Nova during the first days with my first Android device over a year ago. It became standard launcher a couple of weeks ago on my three devices, from the L9 to the Galaxy Note10.1 2014. I like synergies, and all devices can handle an additional line of icons fine. It took some time for Nova to display Widgets w/o distortion, but now that's also fine.

Latest Launcher

I recently picked up a a Galaxy S9 and I haven't used an Android device in quite some time. The last time I did tho, Nova Launcher was the best launcher out there...what is the best now with the best features?
I'd still say Nova launcher
But if your very intuitive you can give lightning Launcher a try (it's a pain to use I ended up quiting it as I couldn't get the functionality I wanted)
If you are ready to put the time in to learn it, the most featured launcher I found was Lightening Launcher. Its a paid app, and I have used it for the past 8 years across multiple devices and ROMs and versions of android, and have only been limited by my understanding of what it can do. Its a steep learning curve, but the what it can do is pretty amazing.
