I recently picked up a a Galaxy S9 and I haven't used an Android device in quite some time. The last time I did tho, Nova Launcher was the best launcher out there...what is the best now with the best features?
I'd still say Nova launcher
But if your very intuitive you can give lightning Launcher a try (it's a pain to use I ended up quiting it as I couldn't get the functionality I wanted)
If you are ready to put the time in to learn it, the most featured launcher I found was Lightening Launcher. Its a paid app, and I have used it for the past 8 years across multiple devices and ROMs and versions of android, and have only been limited by my understanding of what it can do. Its a steep learning curve, but the what it can do is pretty amazing.

Lets assume that you cant change ROM on this phone. Would you still buy it if you have to stick with TouchWiz and the rest of Samsung's software? Or to put it like this: how good is software on this phone?
I really like touchwiz tbh, I've read some touchwiz hate and I'm really not sure why, it's quite nice. Almost as good as sense IMO. I've only a few niggles with touchwiz. But yeah if I couldn't change it (which i probably wont) i'd still get the phone.
I would agree, especially considering that changing the launcher (to ADW Launcher EX in my case) and keyboard (Gingerbread) are only a few market downloads away. I really despise the TouchWiz Launcher - and rest of the TouchWiz software is okay or easily supplanted as well.
I will probably switch to a "pure" Android ROM in the future, but even if none shows up - I'll be fine as I am now, with some Market-downloads, not even rooted.
I would definitively buy this phone again, coming from a Nexus One I really love the speed and form factor. TouchWiz won't stand in your way if you don't want it to.
Given the features of TouchWiz... and the inherit delays for updates... what do you prefer? The features/UI... or the timely updates?
I prefer TW. It definitely adds a bit more functionality and some eye candy. The handy toggles in status bar, better clock, calculator, calendar etc are all nice. Also I like widgets like feeds and updates and daily breifing. They are light and nothing similar that aggregates multiple functions in one widget is available in market. And oh I cannot live without program monitor widget/task manager!
TW4 really brings some nice visual improvement and polish to the launcher. Dont know we will ever get it in Vibrant.
I would question the logic that TW is the reason for delayed updates when international galaxy S models are getting almost timely updates. In my opinion Samsung and TouchWiz should not be blamed for delayed updates in US. There is definitely carrier politics involved.
Stock for me. I don't use the widgets much and usually end up deleting them from ROMs even before in install a new one. And one big one for me is that I can't stand a side scrolling app drawer and vertical option in TouchWiz doesn't satisfy my vertical preference.
I think the best of both worlds (sorta) is TouchWiz coupled with ADW EX. For the reasons above
Tw is fine for me just don't like the launcher so I switched it w/ eugene's stock one and now its fine

I am one of the few people who prefers TouchWiz over Stock Android. For me, Touchwiz is a perfect mix of the Iphone and Android. There are some features of the iphone that I really like such as the horizontal scrolling and the four icons at the bottom. That really makes a big difference. I like how with Touchwiz there are just the four icons at the bottom which make everything very easy when going to the main things you use. Also, TouchWiz was not really made to appeal to die-hard fandroids. In fact, it was probably made more than not to make it easier for people to switch from Iphone to Android. This way, more people buy Samsungs in the transition between Iphone and Android instead of HTC or Motorola or LG for that matter. I hope that was enough.
:complicated:
I like aosp better but id gotten used to tw for a while and it was quite mice... however ive never had a rom w/tw that feels entirely fluid so i ended up on cm7 with launcher pro to satisfy my ocd.
Tw is nice tho, if it were a bit more stable... just take into account that i liked it the way in came and i ended up using launcher pro when i had aosp.

IMHO the gingerbread launcher in the android market seems to be the best UI for me. Its sleek, snappy, and overall a great daily.

Hi All,
I am in the Rom business for a very long time now and I have owned Android devices for more than 2 years now. I must confess, I am getting bored by the Roms and by the UI now.
Right now I have an HTC Sensation (Pyramid) and have had CM7, Sense up to 3.5, MIUI installed.
MIUI and CM7 still lacking Bluetooth functionality, but to be honest, the AOSP look is boring to me. Miui is nice, but where others say it is blazingly fast, I must say scrolling through settings is lagging. I mean a dual-core phone pumped up to 1.5GHz should not lag when scrolling through a list. Really annoying.
The Sense roms are too blown up and therefore even lag when I drag down the notifications area. Scrolling in general on sense roms is fast and fluid as it should be, but even a very stripped down Sense rom lags. And I don't like the round borders everywhere.
CM7 themes are more or less a joke (sorry, do not want to upset anybody, this is just my own thinking) and Sense roms are boring as well.
I read somewhere about a concept rom in the Miui forums, but I want to take the opportunity and ask the community if there are any interesting rom concepts out there in the wild or any tipp how I can have a complete makeover?
I have tested all those launchers (launcher pro, adw launcher ex, go launcher ex, those special funky ones (except spb shell)) and themes. I am not sure if SPB is worth it or not and if it runs ok...
Thankful for any input.
PS: Can't wait till Ice Cream Sandwich drops...
Ok, made the switch to SPB Shell 3D and loving it. Pure awesomeness.
Made me happy - hopefully this will last some time
Hi all!
Today I bought LG L9 and i have one question.
Better use Nova Launcher Prime or stock launcher and why ?
Which launcher is better for daily use ?
Thanks
I use Nova Launcher Prime 2.3
Because there is much cool features and animations.
This is not making phone slower at all. All speed same that stock launcher.
But you can try, this not making anything worse, when you wont like it, just deinstall.
I bought Nova during the first days with my first Android device over a year ago. It became standard launcher a couple of weeks ago on my three devices, from the L9 to the Galaxy Note10.1 2014. I like synergies, and all devices can handle an additional line of icons fine. It took some time for Nova to display Widgets w/o distortion, but now that's also fine.
Hey Guys
Need a fast, tiny and clean launcher, anyone can give me some hints? I`ve tried Action launcher, it seems alright btw. No apus&nova please.
Thanks so much and really appreciate for your advice!!!
Google is your best friend when it comes to this subject, I have been looking for a launcher with the most customization options, so I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum your looking for, there are endless sites that have reviews of all the Android launchers. I have found a lot of random launchers by reading through all the comments people leave on the review sites. With a Lil bit of R & D, you'll find something that fits your needs buddy!

Thanks man! So i used to go with all kinds of launcher, gosh i`ve tried at least a dozen launchers so far i quite go along with Action Launcher. Actually i`ve been testing all the ones with customization and creatives with different devices, while it turns out to be not every laucher go well with all devices esp those low-end devices.
That's for sure majority are impossible to use on low end devices, I had kyocera slide, and I couldn't use any of them cause they hogged so much ram and memory, had a HTC desire 610 for a bit and it could barely run majority, which was a shame, I really like the "next 3d launcher" has great themes and one of a kind in the 3d area, at least that I have found, I had an iphone 4 for what seemed like ages, until I saved up the money to get my LG G3, which can run pretty much anything, now I have gotten into the custom roms and the TWRP recovery, and some if the roms, with out all the bloatware and all the Google Apps that are pretty much useless for me has made the world of difference. If you are a Lil tech savvy, I recommend rooting and custom roms if any are available on your device, nothing else root and delete the obsolete apps on your phone. Even disabling everything ya don't use can make a noticeable difference in performance.

or nova launcher..its pretty good
Hi all ,thanks for your replying, to be honest , me and my team are working on an android launcher project after we trying out all kinds of launchers. One thing that interested us is, most people would care more about the simpleness, easy to use and less RAM consumptions rather than creative&classical design.
And this is the survey we`ve taken from around 50 ppl around the world
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MS6SZ3X
(I`m much obliged if you can take 1 minute to participate as well
As you know there are still many more users who couldn`t purchase a high-end device, which means for those low-end devices, easy. small and handy is the key features they`ve pursuit.
So considering of that, we want to devote all efforts to present a ultimately most light-weight, with lowest ram consumption Launcher. And by using it you can not only experience the same features& as others, we can help you to shut down those unnecessary running apps that may slow down your device speed. And yeah, it needs your phone rooted at first. So how do you think?
If you are still looking for one
