Render effect, is it bad for our phones?

I like using the render effect night mode during nights because the screen is too bright in the dark even with the dimmest brightness.
will it have a bad effect to our phones when used for a long time?

Is render effect like screen filter?
If you are using the blue effect for an extended period of time then maybe. The blue subpixel has the shortest lifespan compared to the other subpixels colors so the brightness of your screen may decrease a little over time. This is in the case that you are using blue only for a few hours every day.
Red should be fine since the subpixel is theoretically supposed to last fairly long. It also consumes the least power after black, but makes the screen look pixelated due the pentile subpixel arrangement.
what about the night mode? It's a little brownish.

No dude!
It is recommended for battery savings. The red mode is the best for battery.
This was introduced in CM5

I use the app called screen filter and have it set at 25% for night time. Battery life appears to almost double it seems.

folks
can someone elaborate on this a bit more?
do these kinds of screen filters need root access? (my gsii is not rooted)
i ran in to some kind of torch light app on the market and it offers a red color cast for saving battery life too. is it the same as what is being used to save batt?
thanx in advacne

Does CM7 LED Notifications drain the battery?

Coming from the Captivate, I know that the SGS2 has some issues with BLN draining battery. I run CM7, however. Do the LED Notifications also hold a battery-draining wakelock for the SGS2?
On cm7 you can set how long the notification lights stay on. Plus they do not use too much battery since the are OK n, now if they blinked on/off for the whole time it wojld probably drain further. I have mine set to timeout after 30 minutes.

I'm 90% certain the CM7 implementation also holds wakelocks when the LED is on

Yes you are correct. I was just stating that you can set a timeout on the backlights which turns off the wake lock i believe. At least the lights turn off. You can set the notification lights to NEVER, 5,10,15,30, or 60 minutes. I have mine set to 30 and havent noticed an issue with drain. Most my drain comes from when I am actually using the device.

There are settings in CM7 for it, on some stock-derived ROMs there is BLN support.
It makes the touchkey lights stay on when there is an active notification - but the way it is implemented causes significant battery drain and no one has figured out a way to safely implement it without causing drain.

Not sure about turning light off. As for battery mine took about 2 weeks to sort itself out, now it lasts a day with me charging when asleep. I have noticed though that a reboot takes anywhere between 3 & 5%. With the new. 73 fw people have said battery is better but I'm still on. 67
Xperia S white
I flashed. 73 and the battery life has almost doubled, best I've had on any hi high end smart phone (and I've had them all!)

LED greening at 90%. Any fix?

The ROMS(including stock) I have tested on my LWW (not sure about other MDPi devices) the led greens even though the phone is not fully charged.
Is there any way to modify the light libs so that it only greens ONLY when the KERNEL reports the battery as charged fully.

This isnt bug,its same on stock gb and stock ics..

I didn't state it as a bug I am telling it as a inconvenient feature.
And still this does Not belong on DEVELOPMENT Section!
How come? This topic is related to developing a certain key feature of this device.

As far as I know, green led appears after reach 90% batteries and keep green untill full
use custom kernel
stock kernel - after 90% ..it will charge slowly after that to improve battery life
custom kernel - after 90% ..continously charge normal ..
(my xperience ..idk its true or not) LOL

[REQ] Capacitive Lights Blinking for notifications

We had something like this on the Samsung Captivate since it did not have an LED. Well, I love HTC stuff, but the tiny notification light is not one of my favorite features. Seems like it would be a nice mod to have the capacitive lights blink for notifications.
I am also not a fan of the itty-bitty light/s we have. my t-bolt was the same, htc thing I guess.
I like your idea, but battery life occurs to me. with already minimal (kind of) battery life, an unnoticed notification blinking your capacitive lights might have a significant impact on battery life.
whaddya think?
I wish htc's were as bright as BlackBerry's. My storm and storm2 leds could be seen in full daylight from across my shop. Made it a bit easier.

What I would've liked to have was more than three freaking colors for the notification light...

Yep, battery could be an issue...I would say app/mod would need granular settings and not connected to the built-in LED settings (so you could turn those off to avoid both blinking and further battery drain).
