Anyone else having issues with Snapchat on the S6? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I thought I saw it elsewhere, but can't find it now. Snapchat is just acting crazy with this phone. When I long press to view a clip, it's chopping all over the place. On my Droid Turbo it works just fine.

Try disabling NuPlayer in developer settings if on

YouTube auto-rotate problem

I'm running rooted stock Rom with adrynalyne's bamf 4.4.6 kernel (not overclocked) and I've been experiencing a problem with YouTube for the last couple weeks. Frequently when I go to view videos and turn the phone to watch in landscape the video locks up and it appears that the video is struggling to orient. When this happens the phone is not responsive. If I wait 30 seconds or so everything straightens out and goes back to functioning. This happens both when auto-rotate is enabled on the phone and when it is not. Just curious if anyone knows a fix for this. Thanks so much.
OneNutShort: I'm having this too, assuming our problem has the same cause, on my Nexus 5 with CM 4.4.2 Cyankang nightly and PA GApps modular. Was hoping it wasn't a hardware defect until I noticed that if you kill youtube, at least with me, it unlocks. Searching around for a fix, haven't found one yet, but I'm guessing it's this Youtube app, so maybe if I clear the data that might work or if I grab another Youtube apk from xda or uninstall/reinstall it from the market or try a different GApps I might get lucky -- if I do I'll come back here and let you know.
Meanwhile, turn on developer mode, go into developer settings, enable kill app with long press of the back button and survive on that, or use some alternative Youtube app, dig around xda, or give Liveleaks a try...

Camera closes after taking pic...

Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine

Snapdragon S10/+/e owners please read: Possible bug with lag and stuttering

Guys, before you reply with any feedback, please read the following post and links in full. It would also help if you posted details of your device like the following, which is mine:
Model: SM-G9750 (Hong Kong S10+)
Build number: G9750ZHU1ASF1
Completely stock, no settings changed
Only YouTube Vanced installed (for testing purposes)

Summary: An intermittent stutter or lag (most notably during fullscreen 4K HDR playback, in my case) which only goes away when you activate certain screen recorder applications like Game Tools or AZ Screen Recorder.
Below is a list of posts that highlight this problem that I and a few others are experiencing. The common denominator here is the use of a screen recorder, which removes any present stutter or lag.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/help/lag-stutter-overall-choppy-t3914381
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/btwfbl/anyone_experiencing_stuttering_or_frame_drops_on/
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/b79cw3/is_snapdragon_really_that_much_worse_than_exynos/
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/b4nftn/snapdragon_s10_laggy_on_4k_youtube_playback/ (video evidence of problem)
The following two are from myself. My problem is that all 4K HDR content (could extend to other formats also but I need to do more testing) is stuttering or dropping frames. Screen recorder on and boom - it's smooth.
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/ch172q/snapdragon_owners_does_this_type_of_video_play/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s10-plus/help/sm-g9750-video-playback-throttled-t3950757
The lag returns as soon as you deactivate screen recording, which suggests that this is either a bug with the CPU or GPU not being optimized or boosting its frequencies properly, leading to these stutters.
I've put Snapdragon in the title as these posts all appear to be from Snapdragon owners, whether it's the US or HK variant. I don't recall ever having this issue as a last generation S9 Exynos owner. If you are an S10/+/e Exynos owner and encountering this issue, you could still try using your phone normally, with a screen recorder active and then without, to see if there is any performance gain (as crazy as it sounds, it might actually make a difference).
Below is a test I'm using to demonstrate this problem. It involves installing apps (namely YouTube Vanced and either one of two screen recorders I've tested it with), so it's not the most convenient. If I find a better method, I will update the post accordingly.
You will need YouTube Vanced. I'm suggesting Vanced because the original YouTube app doesn't let you view at 4K resolution.
Firstly, open Vanced and tap the account icon in the upper right. Go to settings, Vanced settings, Video settings and then toggle Resolution Checks to ON. Refresh and restart the app.
Now open Game Launcher, tap the three dots in the upper right > Add apps and add YouTube Vanced to the list. We're doing this for the screen recording function which I'll mention later.
Note: if you don't have Game Launcher or Game Tools, you can try AZ Screen Recorder as an alternative. Nice Shot does not work.
Once that's done, here's a 4K 60fps clip for you to try. It should be easier to perceive any hiccups with the higher frame rate. Please set the resolution to 2160p (tap the three dots in the upper right) and watch in fullscreen / landscape orientation:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXb3EKWsInQ
Panning shots work best. For reference, see points 0:19, 0:46, 1:48, 2:14, 2:42, 3:04, 4:11 and 4:41 in the video. Does it look like it's stuttering or dropping frames intermittently?.
Now, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to show the navigation bar (you need the navigation bar enabled to use the recording function) and tap on Game Tools, which is the leftmost button. Tap Record.
While the screen is recording, are the stutters now gone? To my eyes, the video plays back perfectly while the recorder is active.

If you are not experiencing any such issues with your device, then congratulations, you have passed the test! Thanks for taking some of your time to provide valuable feedback :good:
Any non-constructive comments will be ignored and reported.
Yeah my S10 is crazy laggy, way laggier than my old S9+ ever was.
I still have it but I got a OnePlus 7 Pro instead of it, absolutely zero regrets. I'll try what you suggested, my lag also didn't go away after a factory reset. I'll reply again with the results.
---------- Post added at 02:10 ---------- Previous post was at 02:05 ----------
So my lag actually got way worse with screen recording, very stutter and no animations were smooth at all. The phone is a fresh install and I don't have a MicroSD card in it either.
Nope, no lag here and I would recognize it if I had it. I have to run a screen recorder from time to time and I see no difference with or without it. I have also never used One UI after the first 5 minutes of trying it. I also don't see enough people complaining to say this is a widespread problem.

Well that sucks, sorry to hear. Screen recording is the only fix from what I've found (if you could even call it a fix). I'm looking at the OP7P as a possible replacement, I don't think I can wait for an update that may or may not solve the problem.
Could I ask what was lagging specifically? Was it just the UI or video, or just everything in general?

It's not widespread, no, but I'm having it and so are a few other people. I only use Nova but One UI was no different so the launcher is not to blame, it's more likely an optimization issue that Samsung borked.
Should probably mention that I have the HK S10+, I don't know if it's particular to this model but the links in OP don't seem to suggest so.

Video playback is just fine, everything else is laggy. UI is a stuttery mess.
My S10 is not laggy, I don't know what others are seeing. I come from S7 Edge and S9, so I know how they feel.
Maybe we need to be more specific about our models when we talk. Mine is SM-G973U1 (unlocked US).
Standard UI, apps from the Google store only, developer mode active (for playing with Bluetooth codecs), build number G973U1UES1ASDB.

You're right. I'll include these details in the OP along with a small test to demonstrate what I'm experiencing. Also tried simplifying the post so that it's a little less sensationalist, seems to have annoyed the hell out of some people. Thanks for the advice!

edit: updated OP
***UPDATE*** Okay now I've just encountered the strangest thing: When watching the video, if I keep my finger touching the screen (as in held down anywhere), the stutter goes away! The moment I lift my finger, it gets laggy again. Wtf is going on?
Before anyone asks, I'm caseless and have tried the Accidental touch protection and sensitivity options, those don't seem to do anything. Anyone able to explain what the real issue might be here?
Found a solution for me at reddit /r/galaxys10/comments/bgka23/lag_and_stuttering/
In short, you have to reboot after using DeX

Oneplus 7t pro not scrolling properly.

So I recently got a one plus 7t pro for Christmas and noticed while scrolling on Instagram that there are moments where to phone will try to scroll the opposite way. I have turned on the option to show taps but there is no other tap than my own.
Anyone have the same problem or a solution?
Not rooted, on latest os.No screen protector 90 hz. It acts normal sometimes but goes insane on the scrolling other times.Disabled nfc and reset cache but still no difference.
I also have this video which i found online which shows my exact problems. I cant type in the link due to me being a new member. However,
" Oneplus 7 pro scroll problem" on youtube should get you the exact video.
Anyone know a fix. Need help asap.
Mine has hiccups
a couple of times. My galaxy s8 plus was notorious for that.

Question Issues with watching Youtube (gets blocky)

Hello everyone,
Does anyone else have any issues while watching youtube videos and it gets blocky? I've posted a picture of the issue... it's almost like youtube doesn't know how to transcode the video so it just comes out blocky. If you look at the buttons, they appear to be in HD and not effected by the blocks.
It happens pretty much every youtube video I watch... I came from a pixel and never had an issue like this.
Once I get this issue fixed, I'd say this phone is a 9/10 ( -1 because I hate curved screens haha)
With YouTube Revanced I don't have any issue. Could it just be a matter of buggy YT version?

Are you on wifi or cellular network?
Also what's your internet connection speed for either of those?
It could just be a matter of crap signal or a crap app. I'd uninstall it and reinstall it and try not logging into an account and see if you can reproduce this, if it doesn't do it while not logged in then it's some kind corrupted data or something that gets added when you log in. There's tons of things this could be, best advice I can offer is not to try too many things at once, even if you're in a hurry, just do 1 thing at a time to try and fix it otherwise you'll have no clue what did fix it.

Thank you for the response.
Wifi or cellular does the same thing with speeds over 70+ on cell and wifi6.
Deleted youtube and reinstalled but still does this.
I just hope it's not a hardware issue because I would bring it back and get another one before the time is up.
If it were a hardware issue it would be more apps than just YouTube messing up
Cześć zainstalowałem na moim telefonie Vanced you tube. Pracuj idealnie bez reklam odtwarzanych w tle... po prostu przejdź do vaced website i zainstaluj zgodnie z instrukcjami
Hi, I installed Vanced you tube on my phone. Work perfectly without ads playing in the background... just go to the vaced website and install as instructed
Is Youtube vanced more battery efficient?
Well just an update... tried everything, 3 factory resets later, I took it back and got another one. This one has no issues other than the YouTube shorts sometimes not playing and I have to get out of it and re click it for it to play. Such a weird issue that had to be hardware related...
