Just wanted to share my impressions on the new Note 3 Lollipop update that just rolled out.
My wife took the OTA on her stock never been modified Note 3. She has been in love with it. The phone has never appeared, functioned or performed better.
I then decided to Odin back to stock NK4 and take the OTA on mine. I was currently on Sacs N4-N3 rom - but I have run just about every Rom that's ever been posted for it. I have been shy about trying the newer Lollipop ports as they all seemed to have some bugs.
After returning to stock NK4, accepting the update, re-rooting, installing the latest TWRP 2.8.6.0 with Odin, doing all of the updates, re-installing all of my apps and some app data with Titanium Backup, re-setting up my Gear Live watch - I can honestly say the same as my wife. My Note 3 has never looked, functioned or performed as well as it does now. It is lightning fast and I haven't had a single glitch, FC or any abnormal behavior through the entire process other than rebooting to stock recovery and doing a factory reset after installing NK4 tar with Odin.
I'll be sure to update if anything changes and am hoping others will post their experience with the new update to help folks that are on the fence about making the move to Lollipop.
Thanks for reading,
Jack
Only issue so far - unable to get Viper4Android working. Not a dealbreaker. Hoping to find a way to get it going though.

To get viper working you need to install busybox from the playstore..... works fine for me on lollipop
I odin back to NK4 and took the update so I can get new prl and baseband. I'm just not feeling the stock LLP so I flashed DarkLord V2.2. Running like a champ.

Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks for this post; it's exactly the info I came here looking for. I've heard reports elsewhere of bugs and battery life issues after upgrading, so I held off on allowing the OTA to process when it hit my phone this morning.

What I do is hit the home button to force me back to the launcher, then press and hold the home button which takes me to the Recent Apps manager, then hit the "X" in the upper right corner of whichever recent app I want to force close.
Edit: But I miss the back button force close too..
Im actually missing a lot of things in lollipop: Lockscreen widgets, menu button on home screen to quick access settings (would really like to get this back. It is driving me nuts), back button force close, xposed, kitkat browser
Edit: oldjackbob, why do you go to the launcher? long press home opens recent menu anywhere

I upgraded to Lollipop then found out that Xposed framework is not yet compatible! More info at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
Waiting for working xposed to remove the S Finder/Quick connect buttons in the notifications pull down, per app dpi, menu be gone, notifications bar tweaks to remove clutter and more.
Still glad for the update though. Feels like a new phone and I don't plan to switch devices any time soon or until a new device has simultaneous voice and data, maybe never.

I am also non-verizon user and I have problems:
Clean install, full wipe x 3 times. All problems start BEFORE any data restored or any apk installed. Tried 2-3 times to be sure that this is not installation problem.
- First start of Phone app on every wake up takes 5 long seconds.
- If I use Wi-Fi - mobile internet does not disconnect (at least icon is still present in status bar)
- After going out of wi-fi range mobile internet does not reconnect. Icon is present in status bar, but no data transferring.
- GPS icon is absent, but the spase for it is reserved and no other icon can use it. Thus - when another icon appears in status bar - there is a space between all icons and a new one.
- in compare to MustafaHadaKing's ROM on 2.06 base, this ROM is too way laggish. His ROM is silky smooth and fast, sorry. Try to ask him what smoothness tweaks he is using (he definitely is using one, it is stated on OP).
I screwed up Gmail
Hi guys I didn't like the dark themed Gmail app on this rom so I thought I could just delete it and install the latest version from the market. Well I was wrong it won't let me install the one from the market as it is not compatible. I like everything else about this rom is there any way to get gmail back on this rom without reflashing the whole thing. I just got it set up like I like it and really don't want to have to redo all that. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

OMG. I can't believe I didn't think of that. Thank you so much.
I am on 1.15 base S-OFF. Using Verizon DNA on at&t.
So to install this are the steps correct:
1. INStall 2.06 kernel and modules from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149951
2. wipe data.
3. isntall the .zip file from this thread?
Also, what about the boot.img?

You are S-OFF, just flash the zip from the first post here and then the latest radio 1.01.04.0308
from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236633.
Be sure to wipe first as always. I also suggest you read some of the stickies and educated yourself to our device and how it works.
This is a nice ROM, certainly nice to be back on stock and have speed to go with it. My biggest problem, however, is that the AOSP e-mail is only POP3 and IMAP. I was really hoping that it would have Exchange ActiveSync so I could use the mail widget. I miss it a lot and hopefully if you are still updating this you could add this support.
Other than that, keep up the great work.
Great Rom I have been using it since my DNA was able to bootloader unlock..... Only small problems found like for some reason chrome and the default browser for some reason will not display some webpages like complex... Anyone else have this problem?
Are there quick settings on this Rom that can be enabled?

I've read about it on other phones. I like the Nexus soft keys, and I don't really like the physical home button.
Don't have an S4 yet. Still debating between this and the HTC One. I see the S4, without regard to carrier, seems to have more development happening than the One.

The hyperdrive rom comes with a script that can install the nexus style on screen buttons.

Disabling the buttons is quite easy. Using a root file manager (I like root explorer myself) navigate to /system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchkey.kl which you open in a text editer. There are 4 lines. The top two are menu and back. Place a # before both lines, save and reboot. Now just disable the light from settings. This does leave the home button active but at least the capacitive buttons have been nullified. I use the navbar on all aosp ROMs I run and find I like the home button for turning the device on but don't use it for anything else.
Actually enabling the navbar is much harder. Samsung actually gutted the navbar framework from touchwiz on 4.2.2. The international gs4 has a mod to reapply those frameworks but I have yet to be able to get it to work by following the guide on a Verizon ROM. I can get it to boot but triggering it by the qemu.hw.mainkeys method or the framework-res method causes major problems. But like said, hyperdrive has a way to enable it

All aosp ROMs can run the navbar but most don't enable by default. I am running cm10 with the navbar and 360dpi. The ge ROM also supports the navbar too but again not out of the box.
Here is a thread I started that gives an aosp flash able to enable the navbar.

I'm confused about this. I did install the 50% transparent but it doesnt seem 50%. More like 80%. Also it seems like the installer gives you the option to install all of the dropdowns but you can only do one at a time correct? Also is there or will there be an option to use our own background image?
i dont know how long i will support this... sadly that wanam mod really messes with this mod, until i can figure out how to disable wanam automatically when flashing this i dont think itll really properly work right
Are you able to throw up a default option so I can go back to the original drop down? I flashed the 50% and it made the text (battery and time) on my task bar big.

Installed this ROM recently after upgrading my Nexus 7 (grouper) to 4.4.
On the Note 2 I:
1) Backed up stock in ClockworkMod Touch.
2) Flashed the ROM
3) Flashed Paranoid Android's 4.4 compatible Google Apps
4) Flashed SuperSU
5) Factory Reset in CWM
booted that Sumamabich up...
Then:
1) Let Play Store download all my apps
2) enabled Developer Options and changed the runtime to ART.
After reboot:
1) Tried Camera..system DID NOT reboot.
2) As many have noted, "Recent Apps" does not function when the Home button is long pressed. You have two options that do not require modifying build.prop:
a) Download an app from the playstore (like "recentapps) to shortcut to this menu. Or
b). Install Nova Launcher (other launchers may also allow this functionality) to enable gestures. I set "double tap" to open the recent apps menu.
So far, everything else works great. I've noted significantly better battery life over stock 4.1.2 and a subjective performance boost. ART has caused no glitches thus far.
I would have put this in the ROM post in the OD forum, but I can't post there yet.

Running Great here, I dirty flashed PA 4.0 over CM11. Wanted long press recents, I have had no issues. I am using ART. Today I unplugged from the charger at 5:30 AM and have been using it off and on to take pictures, read and send email, Install a few apps, and facebook. I even have location on high accuracy. Battery still 85% 48min screen on time 5h 49min on battery. Sweet!
CM11
Worked great for me too, a little buggy but battery life was phenomenal!
I have been running it for last 3 days and it works awesome so far, I did a clean install using latest clock works mod,
only thing not working is proximity sensor for me. everything else is awesome!!!!
I'm loving this phone, I came from a Galaxy S4 and it was definitely worth the upgrade, but the "S Finder" and "Quick connect" buttons in the notification drawer are bugging me since I have no intention of ever using either app. I looked through the settings and I didn't notice anything to disable this unlike how you can turn off the recommended apps (earphones). I already tried to see if you could turn the apps off in the application manager but it's not an option. Anyone figure out if this is possible?
They're bugging me, too.
+1 seriously wtf.

i'm hoping there's a custom ROM before my return window closes...this could be an amazing phone but TW is so inconsistent.
i just came from a Note3 with an AOSP ROM and it's been a rough transition for me.
***i know: it's SO HARD going from one 6-month-old flagship to another just because i have too much unsupervised free time...right?
lol i totally was about to ask about this.
Now that I think about it, WTF is S Finder anyway?

S Finder is a search app, by typing a few letters of anything, it will search almost anything on the phone apps, messages, contacts, email, notes etc.

Ya know I was kind of curious so I just looked it up and I think your right. I think that those buttons where removed in the at&t, sprint and verizon versions. (along with the download booster). They are in the international and the T-mobile versions though. I think that T-mobile is the only carrier which released the S5 with very little personal modifications of there own and therefor is almost identical to the international version (which is the one released direct from Samsung). That is probably also the reason why the international roms work on our phone. I think that all they did was just install there apps. Cool! T-mobile is getting better and better all the time.
Some reason I can't quote you on this app now, but anyways; I haven't gotten my hands on a AT&T version to verify it, but my buddy has a AT&T one so I called and asked if he had it and he said no, so it's hear say I guess lol
But that would be good if we could flash international on it

This is annoying me as well. I think those not yet able to craft their own ROMs (like me), are gonna need to wait. If you're feeling adventurous, you maybe try installing [ROM][G900F][4.4.2]-AllianceROM-OTA Nightlies (the F and T models are similar I believe) and providing the developers with feedback.
Edit: There's also the possibility that [APPS][4.1+] Google Experience Launcher (GEL App + Google Search App) will work, as described by the article How to get the Google Experience Launcher on the Galaxy S5 which I found via this post (go thank him if it works).

I already use GEL, it's in the notification panel though, not the launcher. I'm thinking maybe there will be an Xposed module for it eventually, maybe Wanam can add it.
No guarantees.

Remount /system rw.
Delete existing SystemUI.apk and odex file in /system/priv-app/
Copy this version in. Ensure permissions are correct.
Reboot and enjoy.
Someone else less lazy can make it a flashable zip if they want.

It did get rid of the SFind and Quick Connect buttons on my drop down notifications
I do have a circle icon with the S inside upper left. I have the Alliance Rom onboard, FYI.

The brightness control is a separate setting. This doesn't affect that, I just have mine turned off.
